So You Axed for an ONT...

Truncated ONT tonight folks. I have a buddy who is turning 40, and I'm going to be at a surprise party for him. His wife arranged for one at an axe throwing venue. I was not aware that we had an axe throwing venue in town, but apparently we do. I'm not sure what to expect. Something like this?

axe.jpg

I did note with dark amusement that the waiver I had to sign had a "severability clause". I just hope it's not all...

Look closely. He didn't even say "Hold my beer" before throwing.

I'm sure she thinks she's being SOOOO edgy, but it seems to me that this is a story as old as time...

1 And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.
2 And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me.
3 And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron.
4 And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
5 And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the Lord.
6 And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.

How in the HELL is that a Hanukkah song? It opens with a drive-by shooting (and it's not even Antiochus that gets gunned down) and ends with neighborhood vigilantes killing the bad guys and children playing on their grave. WT actual F are you celebrating, Jewish people???!

Insult her because she insults the intelligence of the country and everyone in it. Point out each and every time exactly why she's wrong again and again. Stand up to the Progtards and don't back down. Tell them The Truth. Show them that whatever it is they call "their truth" is bullshit and show them why it's bullshit.

Posted by: Lisa Ann at December 06, 2018 10:14 PM (2pVFZ)

they really aren't "fast food". They cook to order, and you have to wait a few minutes, and eat peanuts from the shell. But the best fries going.

And priced a tier higher than most "fast food" burgers.

Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at December 06, 2018 10:33 PM (fDU8w)

96 Before it was a franchise chain, the original Fuddrucker's was a solitary location about a half-mile East of the end of the main runway of San Antonio International-ish Airport.

The sides of beef from whence the soon-to-be-burger-meat would be cut, were hung in full display, behind glass. And you could watch the butchers cut the meat, feed it into the grinders, and carry the tubs of ground beef over to the kitchen prep area.

There, prep-chefs would form the patties, and send 'em to the line, where the line chefs would cook 'em to order on the flattop, perfectly, every time.

They baked their own buns there on site, as well.

So, when you got your order, it was your burger n' buns n' fries, and you go *over there* to the condiments line, and dress the thing exactly as you please.

Then find a seat and enjoy the finest retail burger ever put on a plate.

Sadly though, they got infected with the Franchise Virus, and the quality went down. So much so, that they ended up being bought up by the Luby's Cafeteria chain, which now co-locates with Fuddrucker's in many markets.

Fuddruckers is still an upper echelon burger, but it's a pale shadow of what it was when it exploded onto the gastrinomical map.

Krebs v Carnot: "The guy in the GIF is throwing a tomahawk, not a hatchet. Big difference - or so I'm told."

I think that's a tactical tomahawk, one of which I would like to have. Somewhere on YooToob there's a video of a soldier who demonstrates one in close-quarters combat. You can do an awful lot of damage with one very quickly if you know what to do with one. Many, many very sharp pointy parts on it.

114 If you want to hurt someone, the tomahawk with a spike is your go-to hand to hand basher.

I prefer what coldsteel calls the "Trail Hawk" that has a blade and a nice poll on the other side to balance it out.

It is both a light camp axe, and a handy bashing tool that has the double advantage of, when the blade skids off of bone or armor, having the hammer for a back swing, and if you get it stuck and have to yank it out, you don't have the risk of impaling yourself in your haste.

also, it is easier to call it a "camp hatchet" and claim it is innocuous, where all you can say about a tomahawk is "for digging tree roots" or "zombies"

126 I'd like to play my only card to invoke the Summon Horde Advice power. I need your help.

Judges and ethics.
A dear friend just had her 20 year marriage and family homewrecked by a skank. This is the 2nd family said skank has destroyed. Both families included young children who's lives are now damaged. Skank happened to serve term as judge on family court so she was WELL AWARE of damage done to both children and did it anyway.

Furthermore, in both divorces, Skank Judge was able to advise each husband she stole on how to shield assets from divorce proceedings , how to game the family courts etc. In essence, coaching each man how to rescue assets from marriage she destroyed, then marrying each man (5 years apart) to bring those assets under her control. Seems highly unethical. And a scam? Once is accident, twice is coincidence. If she takes down a 3rd family?

QUESTION: she is currently under consideration for appointment to empty circuit court. There is public feedback, sent to a council and governor. (Alabama). HOW IS THIS KIND OF BEHAVIOR WEIGHED IN THE JUDICIAL COMMUNITY? Is it considered unethical, lack of moral integrity, poor judgment, disqualifying? Or will they even give a damn?

167 I wanted to post this link after the last time medically assisted suicide was discussed here, because it's horrifying.

A Canuck gardening blogger that I follow posted about the ordeal they went through with her mother's death.... mother was 94, had emphysema and lung cancer, and had requested this MAiD bullshit; 2 months later, the paperwork was not processed , and apparently you don't even get palliative treatment with your precious free health care unless you sign up ahead of time, so she died writhing in agony.

AND, because her mom died while not under the MAiD thing, and her daughter was the last person to see her alive, she was considered the prime suspect in her mother's death! They had to have a fucking inquest held over the death of a NINETY-FOUR year old woman with two terminal diseases, who was in an assisted living facility already.

The lady was very quick to say it was a mere formality, and that everyone was very kind to her, but Jesus H Christ.

Oh and she also mentioned very casually that another woman in the area had brain cancer, and that because you have to be mentally competent to signup for this MAiD horror, she had to kill herself earlier than she would have preferred, just to make sure the brain cancer didn't advance quicker than anticipated and render her incompetent.

So much absolute fuckery in this story.

180 I linked this last night, but it deserves a repeat in case you didn't see it. It's a 10 minute video explaining how the Falcon 9 first stage is supposed to land and what went wrong yesterday.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ge1_6MUWAYg

It includes several video clips, and longer versions from various angles are all over YouTube. Just search for "CRS-16".

The more I watch them, the more I'm impressed by how well it landed despite a major control system failure.

In a normal landing, the booster aims at the ocean near the landing site. Only during the final landing burn does it steer itself to the landing pad. In this case, since the grid fin control system failed, it continued towards the ocean. But it didn't crash. It was in a roll all the way down, but when the landing legs deployed, they cancelled out the roll exactly like a figure skater stopping her spin by extending her arms. The rocket then touched down gently on the ocean surface and toppled over on its side. It didn't break up or explode, but remained intact and floating.

Here is helicopter video from today showing recovery operations. You can get an idea of the size of this thing by the boats around it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSjfBmkl5-I

They are planning to tow it to Port Canaveral tomorrow. I don't know if this stage will fly again, but they should be able to salvage some parts at least.

The DA was eliminated in the first round but the deputy proceeded to an interview with the governor. In response to this obvious injustice, the DA called up the governor and told him truthfully that he once walked into the deputy's office when she was banging a cop/witness.

Neither got the job.

205 I don't know if it's this way on other parts of the country, but here in East Tennessee, the best burgers are often found in the strangest of places.

Some of the best ones I've had came out of little roadside convenient store/gas station/bait shop type places in little rural communities.

Greasy burgers, smashed thin with American cheese, a slice of onion, iceberg lettuce and thick slice of beefsteak tomato, mayo and yellow mustard. You generally need about 6 of those sorry ass, thin napkins to clean up with when you eat them and they come with some nondescript crinkle cut fries cooked in a deep fryer that hasn't had the oil changed in 2 months or more.

They aren't anything that'll show up on food network, but damn they are good.

222 I read AOS everyday, but rarely (as in years between comments!) comment. However, I am astonished to read about Whataburger, in my mind, the greatest Hamburger chain, ever! I remember as a child in Texas, my first Burger King (it was right next door to our church, literally!) I loved it! I remember visits to my first Whataburger, the old style building with the "Sonic style" vertical parking spaces, the small dining room (I think, at that time they wanted you to order, eat in your car and leave, more than likely due to the original Whataburger being a walk up to the window and order (who else remembers those type of restaurants???) Of course, the taste of burgers from WB and BK were much different, but I loved both of them. Lately (within the past year or so) In N Out expanded to this area of Texas, So, I tried it.it was good, no doubt, and maybe I need to try it more often. Because I know that sometimes Whataburger is absolutely AMAZING, but sometimes it is just, ehhh, ok. So, maybe InNOut might have just had a few of the "ehh, ok" days when I was there. But, to me Whataburger is the GREATEST fast food Hamburger place, overall, in the world! I have had many other burgers from many other places, that I would consider to be better, but for the money, for the mainly, overall consistency, Whataburger can not be beat, hands down!

Tried it twice. They fucked up our order both times, which wouldn't have bothered me had the burger lived up to the hype, but I was just meh on it.

It was good, but I didn't think it was all that. Keep in mind, I don't like a thick burger, though. It's worth a try, for sure.

-------

First the shot, then the chaser:

19 When Moses approached the camp and saw the calf and the dancing, his anger burned and he threw the tablets out of his hands, breaking them to pieces at the foot of the mountain. 20 And he took the calf the people had made and burned it in the fire; then he ground it to powder, scattered it on the water and made the Israelites drink it...

...26 he stood at the entrance to the camp and said, "Whoever is for the Lord, come to me." And all the Levites rallied to him.

27 Then he said to them, "This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: 'Each man strap a sword to his side. Go back and forth through the camp from one end to the other, each killing his brother and friend and neighbor.'" 28 The Levites did as Moses commanded, and that day about three thousand of the people died...

...35 And the Lord struck the people with a plague because of what they did with the calf...

306 The best short response I have seen to the issue of the Prosperity of the Wicked comes from the evangelist R.A. Torrey who died in 1928.

How is it that a holy and just God allows the wicked to prosper while the good suffers poverty?

The psalmist was confronted with this same perplexity. He says in psalm 73:3. "I was envious of the boastful when I saw the prosperity of the wicked." In verses 12 he adds, "Behold, these are the ungodly, who are always at ease; they increase in riches. Surely I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocence", But later on in the psalm, he told us that all his perplexity was solved when he went into the sanctuary of God-when he communed with God. The mystery was then explained to him. He understood the end of the wicked; he saw their prosperity is just for a moment, how God set them in slippery places and how they are brought to desolation in a moment. On the other hand, he discovered of himself, and of the righteous in general, that even in their poverty they are continually with God. God upholds them. Down in the world of testing and trial, He guides them with his counsel, and when we come out of the fire purified, he always receives us into His Glory (vv 16-24)

Much of our difficulty comes from the fact that we forget that happy is the man who has had things in this life but in the eternal life to come, and wretched is the man who has good things in this life nd has bad things in the eternal world that is to come (Luke 16;23)

Dr Torrey had experience of this because he lived in a foreign land with a wife and child where he didn't speak the language, he never got money from his father which he expected to inherit was in extreme poverty and his money was gone. He said-and I'm not speaking to anyone else's condition here--that it drew him closer to God.

This is the most difficult situation as far as money our family has been through for a variety of reasons-medical expenses much decreased income, etc. I have to say what has kept us going is the grace and love of God and the fact that we pray every morning and I pray a lot. I would rather be eating matzoh for three days-while giving my family actual "food food" than be Hillary. Sorry if it sounds sententious (and I don't attribute this to anything in me. but all God's grace) but we list every blessing we have every morning even if it's just "We have a cup of coffee" or "We have food for today" or "We have people who care about us and love us" or "I got to have communion in the sanctuary with a congregation member today and I was blessed" . I know who I am and whose I am and I hope I will always be blessed by this understanding.

Sorry for the long post

Speaking for myself, (sort of, I never run out of toilet paper, I have a hoarding issue with it) when you live in rural places down South where you will likely be snow/iced in for days, there are certain things you want to stock up on!

This is one thing Thor still forgets... we're going to get some snow over the weekend, and I keep reminding him; it's a 50 mile round trip to town, they ain't no snow plows up in here and the one road in is all but vertical in spots... and we almost always get sleet first, so we have a lovely layer of ice for the snow to pile up on.

And we'll lose power eventually, but one of my stoves is propane so we can still eat good.

It's what you do to help ensure that everyone gets as much out of the food as possible, before spoilage.

I've got the "dual fuel" Coleman...runs on either Coleman fuel, or unleaded gasoline. Far more adaptable than the ones that use just the propane cylinders.

Pro-tip. Cook your regular meals on your Just In Case stove, two or three times a year. You want to keep up to date on the differences on how you use your emergency stove vs. the modern wonder there in your kitchen.

Posted by: qdpsteve at December 06, 2018 11:59 PM (miE9U)

Summer 'tween 1st n' 2nd grade, and 'bout half of 2nd grade.

We lived on Western Avenue, right across the street from Knott's Berry Farm.

This was long before they had a fence, or admission charge.

'Round about 4th n' 5th grade, even though we'd moved near the intersection of Orangethorpe & South Gilbert in Fullerton, we'd still have Mom drop us off at Knotts.

Best part was each of us renting a rowboat, in the pond in front of where they built the replica Independence Hall.

Bunch of unattended kids in rowboats, having oar-splashing wars, and chasing ducks onto the small island in the middle of the pond.

Those old wooden rowboats were HEAVY, and we'd row ourselves into hunger and exhaustion.

Just as Mom planned. DONE for the night, after dinner. Plonk. Done.

We can't have nice things like that, anymore.

473 From that Lutheran pastor and her purity ring stunt:

This thing about women that the church has tried to hide and control and that is a canvas on which other people can write their own righteousness - it's actually ours," Bolz-Weber told HuffPost. "This part of me is mine and I get to determine what is good for it and if it's beautiful and how I use it in the world."

First observation: she doesn't identify the "it" she's talking about. I'm assuming she's talking about women's sexuality, but I don't know. She's not a great speaker.

Second: her "philosophy" is bargain-basement teenager rebellion hedonism. "It's my life, I get to live it how I want!"

Then the quote referenced in the post:
The difference between purity and holiness is that purity is always about separation - separating ourselves from people who are less religious, separating ourselves from our sexual natures, from our desires," Bolz-Weber explained. "But holiness is always about connection - to God, to ourselves, to our nature."

So holiness is a connection to God and purity is ... what? Purity isn't a connection to God?

1 Tim 4:11-13: Command and teach these things. Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching.

Seems to me Paul is instructing people to teach that purity is a good thing and that if you act in purity it'll inspire believers to be better. But I'm sure Miss "I do what I want and feel good about it" knows better than Paul.

....

When I get highly depressed (I've learned the signs) I've trained myself to go hyper-rational.

What do I control and what can I change?

Generally not others, but I have total control on how it effects me. I don't like to be depressed, so I go hang out and do things that don't depress me (church and a couple of friends).

I have found that helping others that appreciate me puts those that don't in their proper place in my brain so that those negative voices don't take over.

484 I'm living with my sister now, I have tried to avoid confrontations with her.
she's in poor health. Tonight, we went out for pizza. She was feeling down because of her health issues. We had too much wine. She started picking on me and I tried to avoid it, But old wounds came up, we had a bitter fight, and I got so upset that I went and bought a pack of cigarettes and smoked a few in the driveway, although I desperately want to quit - and had quit for years before I moved in with her, I'm feeling so useless and hopeless. I wish I would die in my sleep.

You're not useless or hopeless.

My daughter the younger and I are not on speaking terms, thus affecting my relationship with the gbabies.

It hurts, and yes, there have been times, in the past week in fact, that I pray that the good Lord would take me in my sleep so I can rid myself of this pain.

You have friends here who would miss you.

Same Island, I believe. But by then, Knotts had a fence, admission, and those rowboats were a distant memory.

If you'll research Blue Lagoon Apartments, circa 1967, you'll find a place of my youth.

Those were LUXURY apartments, then. Fishing pond, putting green, playgrounds.

Had L.A. Rams team members living there. Les Jospehson once babysat me when my folks had to go to a formal Navy function in downtown L.A.

He was a first string Runningback, in the Rosie Greir, Fearsome Foursome era of the Rams.

And yes, I met Rosie after a fire at the apartment complex, too.

That's a different story, of course.

1 - She goes deaf on the word "illegal" when you talk about immigrants.
2 - She took down some Confederate statues. I honestly think it's fine to do that if you put them in a museum, but I don't know what she did with them.
3 - She was great in the U.N.
4 - She said, "With respect, I do not get confused," indicating that she's a warrior in office politics.

517 Illegal migrant numbers (known) now at highest since Trump elected, and basically back to the numbers before Trump - with a bad twist.

The ridiculous "asylum" gambit, and the "children in cages" libel and hysteria, are now fully integrated into the operation. Meaning family units now come, in record numbers - and while I haven't seen current figures, I think the greater % of them are released into the country with a "court date" which most of them ignore. In other words: illegal migrants who are assisted and formally, officially let in the country and released, never to be seen again. Over 30K families in November, alone. So - probably close to 100,000 illegals, most of whom will never be heard from again - released into the country.

Trump himself, tonight, highlighting an impending possible disaster in AZ, where a large "caravan" type group will be approaching a section of border with no physical barriers. Disaster in the sovereignty, public health, rule of law, and immigration sense.

Bilateral pressure - serious arm-breaking, so far not in evidence - with Mexico and to a lesser extent Central American govts. remain in Trump's arsenal. But the GOP, and the Dems, have made it reasonably likely that the mass illegal migration that made Trump president will continue, and worsen on his watch.

Oh, but there's a black lining. Along the way, the judiciary has gone to new frontiers of lawlessness in usurping and harassing clear executive authorities, in every case with practical consequences. But dark part of that black lining is that Trump's DOJ has acquiesced in all of this, has not shown any teeth whatsoever that might make the judicial tyrants back off. Which is why they haven't, and if anything are doing donuts in the WH lawn (recent ruling on a case involving illegal assistance to illegal migrants is truly insane, new idea that somehow these crimes are constitutionally protected as "speech" or advocacy - no I'm not making this up).

I goofed on the year of one. '06, '08, and '11. The '11 is said to have unspecified engine/tranny issues, but it runs. And the others run, but have usual holes, scrapes, missing interior door handles etc. that come with ex-cop cars. But all are pretty low miles for cop cars. And Langley, BC is lower Fraser Valley, so climate similar to Seattle; fairly kind to cars.

My thinking is to lowball all three of them. might get lucky on one, and if I do get stuck with all three, I can handle the tab.

558 Lurking Lurker, there was no evidence this WH ever attempted to make urgent illegal migration action (wall, asylum law changes, serious crack-down on "sanctuary" lawlessness, others) any sort of make/break issue for GOP members of Congress (and some Dems).

No incumbents were primaried. Zero. Apart from Trump helping push 2 unpopular incumbent senators into retirement, which would have probably happened anyway (Flake, Corker), help me identify any point where the WH confronted problematic GOP incumbents.

No "walk the plank" votes. O-care vote? Maybe. Almost. But that was a very partial repeal anyway (and administration still hasn't gone to war on O-care, using the unique, wide administrative discretion given to HHS, the way it should, and which would force the issue on all incumbents).

If Congress is the problem - and it is - then there should have been lots of fur flying, lots of blood, lots of drama. There's been zilch. You win on critical, popular policies by forcing opponents to buckle, or forcing them to take stands that risk their being un-elected. Instead we've had Hill "leadership" just give Trump the back of their hand, with impunity, and force him to sign CRs that completely fail to deal with the issue.

Spent years on the Hill, cannot believe they continue to get away with, essentially, removing politics from politics. Few votes, almost no "big" votes. And now, Dem House. A sober look at every part of the mass illegal migration problem - possibly apart from gang activity - reveals a worsening of things, on every level.

The author makes several monumental mistakes however. He seems to believe that the approach to a civil war is equal on both sides, where it is not.

The left wants to impose their worldview on us. It remains to us to decide when it is enough. That is a fundamental difference.

For conservatives, a Civil war would almost assuredly be a defensive measure, not an offensive one.

Sure, I guess we could all bend the knee and let the libs have and do whatever we want, but isn't that the NeverTrump line?

So his dystopian future where someone has to force their ideology on someone else no matter what is already in the offing.

What comes after is messy (no matter who wins) but for us, it will be messy no matter what path we chose. Rat cages strapped to our face or the unknown.

Valid, but I am speaking ideologically- you do not compromise on whether human beings are property.

Granted, as a matter of realpolitik, and considering the outcomes (both direct in terms of human life and also in erosion of freedom from government) it probably would have been a better deal. Maybe.

Hindsight is 20/20.

However, the question remains (and it is a good question) how much of the civil war on the southern side was caused by racists wanting to hold onto their property (as you and they saw it) and how much was caused by the southerners not wanting to be part of an ever expanding centralized government which was disdainful of local government power.

My argument would be that even if you did what you suggest, the structural problem would have still been in effect, but it would also have been interesting to see if say The South freed the slaves and then still seceded, would the North have been able to prosecute the war without the rallying cry of slavery- or would the South have still seceded?

Every time I think of one of my uncle's, I do. He was Army Air Corps stationed at Hickam Field on Dec. 7, 1941. He was in his bunk, not sure if the top or bottom bunk, at the time of the attack and his bunkmate was killed. Fate or luck. It is what it is. Before he died of cancer, I visited him and rather than just stopping in to say hello/good-bye, we chatted for hours. He mentioned that to my Mom as it truly surprised him in a good way. Truth is, though, I thought nothing of it because we were just chatting. A lesson to be learned: Some things we do we think nothing of, but they have an impact far beyond what me might consider, if we even consider it.

As an aside, my father and his four brothers all served in and survived WWII. I wonder how rare that was. A 'Sullivan brothers' story in reverse.

Yeah, legal pot. Envision this scenario... you can legally smoke pot. You go into a facility to use their bathroom and while you're in there you fire up a joint and take a hit. The bathroom door is labelled 'Employees'. You leave the facility immediately. No one saw you come or go.

Someone comes along and smells the pot and alerts the Director of the facility. She calls corporate. Because it's a health care facility they tell her to lock down the facility and order every employee to take a drug test before they can leave. This is now a blanket drug test, not random. Doors are locked. There is no individualized suspicion. No one walking around stoned, red eyes, slurring words, or chomping on Cheetos. The drug testing takes hours to perform on more then fifty employees.

I feel that is a gawd-damned violation of the Fourth Amendment.

As it should be. Maybe I didn't emphasize it enough. But this is Joe SixPack outsider (with legal pot permission) who stumbles into a place of business and fires up in their bathroom and creates this 'blanket' of suspicion on all the employees. Which resulted in a 'blanket' drug test on ALL individuals with no individualized reason for suspicion on any one individual. They then locked the doors, spent hours on the test, resulting in many employees missing bus rides home, finally arriving home near midnight.

This 'legalization' is going to create some nightmares for employers and employees.

OK, then help me understand this:

Why do you, like so many others, insist that the US only celebrates its defeats and tragedies?

Seriously. Who here knows, without looking it up, VE or VJ day? We all know 9/11, Pearl Harbor, and for genuine Texans the defeat at The Alamo but wouldn't know Texas Independence Day.

Just above you observed birthdays and holidays which are generally good things.

Even the Beer Industry invented Cinco de Mayo not because Mexicans lost, but because they won. (and the French defeat led directly to the loss of New Orleans and thus the South's defeat in the War between the States)

But the US seems to only want to count its dead never its victories.

718 Blessed to bless

Prayer joined with loving obedience is the answer to all ends and all things. Prayer joined to the word of God makes all God's gifts sacred

Prayer is not simply to receive things from God, but to make all things holy that have already been received from Him. It is not merely to receive a blessing, but also to able to give a blessing. Prayer makes common things holy and worldly things sacred.

Prayer receives things from God with thanks giving and hallows them with thankful hearts and devoted service .

735 What I want is a CFA and a Waffle House, preferably in Tomah.

I disagree, Black River Falls would obviously be the best place for them.

738 hey grammie, I lost track, but I think you said that you'd recover from this over a couple months ... is that right? I sure hope so. But in any case, good to see you home and able to deal with it, even dispensing some good humor.

Do you have Amazon Prime? Because their streaming music app (free with Prime) is loaded with Christmas music. I mean months worth without repeating.

743 Just 1 trillion cubic feet feet of natural gas is enough to heat 15 million homes for one year.

So 281*15=4.1 Billion homes for 1 year or
every home in US for about 16 years.

747 But the US seems to only want to count its dead never its victories.

I'm with Google on this one. I'm tired of wringing my hands over this country's losses.
___________________

I've got no beef with celebrating U.S. victories. The more, the merrier. But "counting the dead" as you put it is important too, because those dead were part of the reason for the victories, and it's important to remember and honor them. It was because of the dead at Pearl Harbor that we were able to get to VJ day. It was because of the dead at Gettysburg that we were able to get to Lee's surrender at Appomattox. It was because of the dead at Bunker Hill that we were able to get to July 4th.

As for the phony Cinco de Mayo, if the Mexicans want to celebrate that, let them have at it. But it's not an American victory, and it's not an American holiday, and I see no reason why it should be celebrated on American computers.

749 I spoke to my electric coop yesterday about maybe doing a grid tie solar system ... since cash only gets 1% and they are burning our currency, might be a better investment than gold (which may rise in value, but provides no electricity).

But I was lamenting with him about how they shut down our coal plant in Merodosia ... fools. And if people build solar systems, it really just hurts the electric company since they sell the electricity at a profit to cover other costs. Illinois/US is the Saudi Arabia of coal, so "our betters" tell us NO. control freaks on the take ...

At first the (free with Prime) amazon music experience was kind of lame. But they've really made it much better.

If you buy a CD or DVD from Amazon they'll then make it available to you to stream. So the wife can play the CD in the car and I can stream the same music at the same time.

757 I think the interesting thing about Pearl Harbor is the narrative that Japan was forced to bomb the US because of our policies that limited their expansion. Much like the idea that our middle east policies forced the mohammedans to destroy several ugly buildings.

Progressivism routinely uses the You Made Me Do It To You theme to present the Me Gooder You Badder story.

You say freedom and use hit you with bike locks. You say free market and we burn your main street.

Except in one case. Somehow the wife or girlfriend that needs a little slapping around to keep her in line is a nono.

762 The Tomah Area School District is committed to high quality student learning- every child, every day. We are located in western Wisconsin, within three hours of both Minnepolis and Milwaukee. We service over 3,000 students each day and offer a variety of activites, athletics, and academic options for all students.
