The View's Joy Behar Flips Out on Meghan McCain For Saying that Tributes to G.W.H. Bush Ought to be Genuine Tributes to Him, and Not Barely-Disguised Attacks on Trump

Video below to spare the hamsters powering the front page.

Before getting to that, have a gander at Kurt Schlichter's column, The Only Good Republican Is a Dead Republican.

The death of President George H. W. Bush provided liberals and their Fredocon houseboys yet another opportunity to lament the fact that all Republicans aren't dead. Their feigned amnesia about what libs were saying while Bush 41 was still in the arena, and their latest hack attempt to tsk tsk tsk tsk about how the Bad Orange Man isn't like [Insert Name of Dead Republican Here] serves to justify the prophylactic cynicism that we Normals should strive to cultivate.

President Bush was an imperfect man and a frustration to hardcore conservatives like me, but he was also a WW II hero and patriot, and he was my Commander-In-Chief when I went to war for the first time. I knew he would stand behind my troops and he did, and the good things I have to say about him on the occasion of his passing are proper and sincere. Patriot, war hero and my commander: that is how I choose to remember him.

The difference is that when conservatives like us focus on his positives, we are not trying to exploit his passing to score cheap points on the present president. Liberals are. They hated Bush 41 with a cold fury. Now, most of the juice box nimrods on social media or piping up on MSNBC were maybe three years old when he was the prezzy, so maybe they don't remember that the liberals slimed him mercilessly. From the grocery scanner lie to the Willie Horton racism lie, to the wimp lie, it was all lies, all the time. In fact, even today, some libs are off-message and celebrating on Twitter.

Shhhh. You're supposed to be pretending to revere him!

They did it with John McCain too, through his funeral and its endless sequels. "If only the Republican Party were dominated by a Republican like [Insert Name of Dead Republican Here] instead of that awful, awful Trump!" they sobbed as they shed their crock-adile tears, because it was a crock. There's never going to be a Republican with a pulse who is not Der Fuhrer reborn. Not McCain. Not Mitt. Not Bush 1.0 or 2.0. And Jeb!, had he become 3.0, would have been Hitler too.

Tell me that's not so. Come on. Try.

Nope. You failed.

More at the link.

BTW, Kurt's newest Kelly Turnbull book, Wildfire, was just released. I think this is a sequel to the other two books about future America's descent into chaos.

Not like anything like that could ever happen here. Or in France.

Did they? I sometimes think the 41/43 Bush hate was kind of a false flag op. It would of course strengthen the Dem base's zealousness, but it might also serve to dupe conservative voters into thinking that the Bushes were actually conservative, otherwise why would the liberals hate them so much? The hatefest distracted attention away from how liberal they were and tricked conservatives into thinking they needed to be defensive and supportive, instead of looking around for other options.

171 George HW Bush was a TBF Avenger pilot. Torpedo plane, but was also able to carry conventional gravity bombs.

He flew off the light carrier San Jacinto.

His TBF was shot down, and his tail gunner and radio man were lost in the crash. He barely escaped with his life. He was later picked up by a US submarine.

Pretty annually, as he had the money and the opportunity, he would travel out to the Pacific where he was shot down and lay a wreath on the water for his two friends that didn't make it.

He was the same age as my father, about 4 months older. They were very different in about all things, but there were times when George HW Bush got this expresssion on his face that was just like my late father, and it was "This isn't right".
He was a good and moral Christian man, a patriot, a good father and husband. He had plenty of flaws, and was a disappointment at times.
He was loyal to his friends, and was usually gracious to his opponents.
When Dan Rostenkowski went to prison for fraud as a Congressman, George wrote to him.
They knew each other as congressmen since the '60's.

Later, when Rostenkowski got out, he talked about how much it meant to him that George took the time to write to him, several times.
Since he wrote a letter to a Democrat in prison, I guess that makes him a wuss or a RINO or something.

So if a Pilot goes in the drink, the carrier can continue operations while the Plane Guard does the rescue...

Because to stop for a pilot, may get a lot of other pilots killed.

Spot on. What it shows me is the true DC and the power-brokers are even more entrenched in mutual corruption than anyone can envision. What is happening in France can't even be considered a warm-up to what could happen here.
And Trump won't play, as he has his own earned money and not a slave to their payoffs and "contributions". So they use their power to turn on him, because he speaks up for the regular Americans who just want to live a free and normal life. Unlike the power brokers and their wannabees, Trump actually believes in a Constitutional America, as do we.
More ammo it is. And food. Got the Berkey and the LifeStraws, so water is covered.

265 I thought some reasons the American attack succeeded were due to Japanese planes being on the deck refueling along with ordnance snafu's.

Not ordnance snafu's so much as indecision. Japanese planes had been loaded with bombs for a second run at Midway. American carriers were spotted, so the Japanese decided to remove the bombs and arm with torpedos, all of which were on the flight deck when American dive bombers showed up.

As much as a crap-weasel as Ross Perot may have been, he WAS a warning to the GOP establishment, which they sadly *did not* heed.

Even in 1992, globalism was having its casualties, immigration -- illegal AND legal in certain categories -- was a budding mess, racial tensions (often stoked by the immigration mess) were mounting, and in a post Cold War world, the Republicans could no longer win by running against Jimmy Carter.

350 yeah, the Old West was really a pretty short period. Pretty much from 1840 to 1899. Or a little past that if you lived in AZ or NM or Mexico.

353 . I really recommend reading "Shattered Sword". The authors take you through things like Japanese flight ops and carrier design, and give an excellent picutre of how the battle went from the Japanese perspective.

356 I think there's a shit ton of behind the scenes concerning George Bush that we would all be horrified to know. He's got sketchy connections, likes the wrong people and was head of the CIA. And caving on taxes makes him a liar and lost him an election and gave the country that asshole, Bill Clinton.

But I do hope he rests in peace. He was a war hero after all.

nurse, I, and many others spend many a hard earned dollar on gallons of Valu-Rite level vodka (my brand was Monarch, IIRC) while sitting in the stands on the shores of Montlake, cheering Dawgs.

Posted by: Bertram Cabot, Jr. at December 03, 2018 05:04 PM (aKsyK)

Humph. One guy with a handheld movie camera. No sound. I've seen the film. It's not like it took a lot to do that, even on a submarine.

No, George H.W. Bush had balls. Navy attack pilot? Talk about a dangerous damn job. And he had class. Did I agree with everything he did politically? Hell no. He was always a country club Repub through and through, sad to say, and some of his decisions reflected that. But overall he was a good and decent man and a good wartime C in C. May he rest in peace.
