One the upside (if there is one), it did nothing to the balance of power. It would have been good to swing it harder toward the Rs since we still have to deal with Coke Bear and Collins, and so need a stronger majority to really grease the skids, but this loss - while disappointing - doesn't seem to shift the balance either way.

There's nothing wrong with being an individual, but these days I don't trust anyone who insists that there is no broader American identity, and no standard to hold onto. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius at November 07, 2018 02:31 PM (Fz8ov) ++++++++ Eh, MT is an odd duck and has been for a while. Some CA pressures there, but it has long been something of a wildcard. ID is more worrisome in terms of turning blue. Like CO, it is under a lot of demographic pressure from out-of-staters. Not as many Californians in ID, but increasing numbers from Seattle and blue Washington. Washington can't maintain outbound population pressure like CA can, but it's a real risk to ID. We don't have 20 years. We will hit #1 long before then.
I'm torn on that. On the one hand, the thin veil of civilization and the looming fiscal disaster of the last 8 years plus nearly every state's pension balloon and medical costs can wipe everything out in a matter of days. The Great Depression ain't got nothing on that. On the other hand, there's a tremendous amount of momentum and a lot of pressure to not let the inevitable disaster happen... yet. Kick the can a bit further down the road. So I dunno. Could happen in 50 years. Could happen tomorrow. All's I know is the solutions that could have prevented the inevitable needed to be done back in the 80s but almost nobody was paying attention back then. Wisconsin sees Walker turn the state around, and they kick him to the curb. Then, when things start to go bad they'll double down. I watched many of the live rallies, and it always struck me that Morrisey in WV and Rosendale in MT would just go ape-shit on Manchin and Tester and you'd look at the people behind the stage - people who love PDJT and would stand in line for hours and hours to see him - and there be nothing. A few claps or head nods but nothing other than that. Unfortunately for us, Tester and Manchin have huge home field advantage in their states - they grew up, worked, went to school, etc with these people. A transplant from Maryland or New York just couldn't over come 'I've known Joe/John since High School'. Doesn't mean it's 'the right vote' - I'd love a 57-43 GOP Senate - but I think that kind of thing really matters, particularly in the interior states.

Those are hard battles, but we MUST take them on.
Only way to win those battles is to outbreed the left. And raise your kids right WITHOUT sending them to leftist indoctrination. So that they have lots of kids. If this had been the plan in, say, 1980, we'd have a second generation of conservative youths voting this election numbering a good 3-4 times what the left has. Instead, people blindly sent their kids to public schools, had 1-2 kids because they're expensive and besides I need more me time or they were like me and never even married or had kids. And so we are where we are today. Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at November 07, 2018 02:41 PM (39g3+) 92

Posted by: Christopher R Taylor Not much road left. I honestly see that happening before my 1 yr old grandson gets to be 21 and starts a family. There are two types of recounts in FL. Between .25 and .49% you get a machine recount, where fraud i harder to manufacture, as there are lists of ballots that get "recounted" by machine only (never by hand).
Less than .25 you get the old hand recount, where party hacks just make things up. That is the threshold Nelson needs to overcome all of Scotts numerical and systematic advantages here. Many legal immigrant Hispanics are against the illegal invasion. We need to convince more of them that the path for them to move ahead is to stop the flood of illegals. But when they come in such huge numbers, they form their own (very large) enclaves and build MexicoNorth. And we give those enclaves their own Representatives.
Once again verily verily I say unto you ... an Hispanic enclave with one million illegals and one million legals ... gets 3 reps. An area with two million downstate Illinois Americans here mostly for five generations ... gets 3 reps. I.e. -- Illegals have their own reps ... probably about 20 of them. A transplant from Maryland or New York just couldn't over come 'I've known Joe/John since High School'. Doesn't mean it's 'the right vote' - I'd love a 57-43 GOP Senate - but I think that kind of thing really matters, particularly in the interior states.
Posted by: Crooked Hillary's Baggy Mumu at November 07, 2018 02:41 PM (/qi1k) This is really depressing but all too believable. People are so stupid. If it can be demonstrated that a neighbor who has dozens of subtle cultural things in common with you is actually scheming to harm you, and a city slicker is willing to behave right by you ... this sort of denial is insane. It shouldn't "really matter", at least not that much. It's like a mother who is in denial that her darling angel is a psychopath, but "neighbor" shouldn't be as strong as the mother-child bond. This means that any local official that can be bought off can continue with the leftist plan to destroy this country, because sentimentality. Every time Tester runs just enough Montanans insist on voting for the Libertarian candidate to give him the win!

This sounds gooder regarding Sessionzzzz replacement:
"Sessions's chief of staff Matthew Whitaker will serve as acting attorney general, Trump announced. Whitaker also will assume oversight of the ongoing investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, and possible collusion by Trump's campaign in that meddling." Posted by: physics geek at November 07, 2018 03:06 PM (huQJB) That doesn't seem insurmountable... what areas still have to report? Posted by: redbanzai the Southerner at November 07, 2018 03:09 PM (F/KeJ) 206

If the parties were reversed, the Dems would be demanding a recount until they found enough votes to win.

Eh, MT is an odd duck and has been for a while.
132 >>> Wife and I are looking at Twin Falls or Idaho falls because Boise is blue.
Both are nice areas! As is Pocatello. I really like Idaho Falls. I was worried with the solar eclipse last year, that they would have an influx of blue tourists realize 'hey, this is not a bad state' and move in. Posted by: LizLem at November 07, 2018 * * I was thinking about something other than Boise, yes. Coeur d'Alene? Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius at November 07, 2018 03:41 PM (Fz8ov) 216
