NeverTrump's Victims: NeverTrump (Former) Republican Congressmen

Ben Domenech writes that Republicans proved they can win in purple states, whereas Democrats... did not.

The Blue Wave that had been so highly anticipated last night never materialized. A wave election, however you define it, does more than elect 30-35 House members and flip at this juncture just one Senate seat. A wave election is a combo punch of wins all over the place, including in places that push the margins of where you thought a party could win. We saw a true wave election in 2010 for Republicans. There was no such repudiation offered by Resistance Democrats in 2018.

Yes, Democrats took the House, as anticipated -- the combination of retirements and the backlash of suburban voters overwhelmed a GOP where many of its members had become lackadaisical in their approach to doing the work required to win elections. But when your most significant statewide victories for Democrats are defeating Scott Walker and Dean Heller, it's a far cry from how things looked pre-Kavanaugh.

So today we wake up to a Republican Party that is decidedly more Trumpian, having seen the elimination of its most moderate and Trump-critical members, and the support of those who embraced Trump emphatically on the campaign trail and in policy preferences. The only candidate to win statewide who could be fairly described as a Trump critic is Mitt Romney, and even he will arrive in Washington to play the balancing game in a period of investigations and confirmations.

...

Last night, Van Jones spoke for many progressives in his sorrow: "This is heartbreaking," he said.

Leftover: Trump just called a combative black female reporter a racist.

Which was pretty great.

And, another clip of Accoster of Women.

11 So here id my take on the election. The nevertrumpers and Democrats are assholes, the independents are pussies and to them Trump is the biggest dick in the world. So the pussies would rather try to get off on rubbing up against assholes for a while, because they hope that the big dick will come back to them and wine and dine the, on hopes that the big dick will give them a softer, gentler pounding, that will make them feel better about themselves.

But the big dick has other plans. While the pussies partook in their unorthodox erotic pleasure, by hoping for a temporary climax from some assholes, the big dick got harder and has been passing out extra balls to some of the smaller dicks around him. And the big dick and all of the little dicks are going to start grabbing all of the pussies and reminding them that when pussies bump uglies with assholes it will be in a cardboard box under an overpass, but when pussies get ****ed by dicks it's in a big house on a glamorous king sized bed, and when they get done, they can actually afford to smoke a cigar and have some champagne, where as the assholes only shit on you while trying to score another 'crack' high.

And eventually, pussies realize that dicks aren't so bad, and they will stroke those dicks so hard that their orgasm will be bigly, and things will be alright again for a little while. But, assholes are tricky and are always trying to import more fresh shitholes to become new assholes to make the pussies feel sorry for them, so they can pull the pussies back away fro the big dick and all of the little dicks and start the cycle over again.

Now, what the big dick and all of the little dicks need to do is start figuring out a way to give these pussies some balls so they can become little dicks of their own. And then, and only then, will all of the dicks, led by the big dick, start ****ing the assholes so hard that they turn into the next generation of pussies, and then there will be no assholes left and the shitholes will stop coming here unless they learn to be dicks first, because shitholes and assholes really don not want to be wrecked by the big dick.

I think the realignment is nearly done. RINOs were a weird development but it might be almost over. We're back to Dems and Repubs again. Now, in the absence of RINOs then Repubs might never win again because the country is blue and so their weak check on leftism is now gone - I don't know. But I see this as a completing realignment and we need to see what the country actually wants now that the liars (which is what RINOs are, for the most part) are being moved out.

I fear the country wants the wrong thing, but who knows.

66 As I said in another thread the way to solve the GOP's problem with pre-exisitng conditions is to do the following.

1. Insurers can't deny on pre-existing conditions.

2. Insured need to buy up a pre-exisitng package in their health care coverage.

3. The cost they pay would be no more than 10pct or some other negotiated number of the cost of the overall plan.

Also the other way to reduce costs is to allow insurance companies to develop low cost, tailored and limited plans and be allowed to sell them to anyone, anywhere.

This is all a no brainer and would go a long way to solving a lot of problems politically that of course it won't be deliberated.

He also points out that the fake "Blue Wave" the press kept selling for over a year made a lot of Repubs think their party was destroyed, so the 44 didn't retire, they quit prematurely.

This matter calls for a thorough investigation by an inter-agency task force of the FBI, the CIA, and all 17 intelligence agencies as well as our friends at GCHQ, MI6, Fusion GPS, the London Centre for International Law Practice, the LINK campus in Rome, the Italian secret service, the Estonian foreign intelligence ministry and Louise Mensch.

The investigation must also include the traitorous behavior of the bad orange man who stood by and did absolutely nothing to stop the attempted rape by Justice Kavanaugh.

112 yeah, trump needs to let preexisting conditions go. It actually, to be honest, and many many people agree with me on this...makes the mandate necessary, sad to say but many many people agree with this. and to be fair, many people some maybe all would say that pre-existing the preexisting conditions would raise prices. They say you know many people say that and it's true the raise in prices is because hey, preexisting conditions cost money and you can't just let preexisting conditions walk in. It's like when Bob...Bob? Where are you Bob, oh he's sitting right now but when I had Bob, a very good, very good man, do wiring in my condo...a very nice condo to be sure and I say Bob...you need to wire all the outlets and he said this raises prices so my condo had to have outlets and that's like the preexsiting conditions which, sad to say raise costs and you need to have a rule that you can't have insurance just after you get the preexisting condition.

127 As I said in another thread the way to solve the GOP's problem with pre-exisitng conditions is to do the following.

187 I see the dems are mining away for votes in Montana and Georgia. In Montana Tester has now taken a 4000 vote lead as the votes continue to trickle in after trailing slightly all night. In Ga. Abrams dosen`t have to overcome the 65000 vote deficit, she just has to knock Kemp under 50% to force a runoff and you know how that will go. This is why she didn`t concede. Kemp has dropped to 50.4% as all the votes being found are for, as usual, the dems. She is screaming every vote must be counted until of course she gets the desired result and then the tune changes to 'the people have spoken'

That said, I'm still going to be a bit of a Debbie Downer contrarian. This is a shitty way to conduct a RINO purge since it is two-phase and takes two years to achieve (purge now, elect in 2020).

If these people had been primaried prior to this election, it could all have been done in one step and we could be merrily buffaloing Trump's agenda through Congress, building the wall, reshaping the judiciary (by altering/eliminating circuit courts), passing legislation undoing OCare and birthright citizenship, and passing a sane budget. Now we have 2 more years of obstruction to look forward to.

Trump was mean to me again. I tried to politely ask my very important questions, I had 12, of him. He only tool 7 before he said I was being rude. AS IF!!!!! So he sent over a big strong woman to take my microphone, MY microphone away from me. Well I said "NO WAY girlfriend!!" She started to get physical with me but those days at Pilates are paying off!!!!! So I pushed her right out of the way and continued to politely ask my questions of that monster Trump.

I showed that mean old racist womanizer Trump that I won't be pushed around by any girl. I'm a FEMINIST!!! Jen, and George are going to be so proud of me, SQUEEEEE!!!

Posted by: Marcus T at November 07, 2018 01:42 PM (wJ+c3)
++++++++++
1) See where the count is going
2) Fire up your printing press
3) Check the database for registered voters who didn't cast a ballot
4) Fill out the newly-printed ballots for your preferred candidate using the raw materials from step 2 and identities from step 3.
5) Lock the completed ballots in official boxes.
6) Have an inside man on the election commission certify them.
7) Stage those boxes under tables in a couple of near-to-each other precincts
Claim that they got missed when ballots were transported because election day is fast-paced and something got missed
9) Have your inside man recertify the original take plus the new take

At least, I imagine it works like this. It's how I would do it.

It's the Blue Urban enclaves that are the problem overall that plus a clueless state GOP who can't seem to find intelligent candidates but keep dragging out old and old fashioned pols for Governor and Senate and so they keep losing.

2020 will fare better as no governor or Senate race to confuse the issue. I predict now that unless Trump's get shafted by the Deep State, he will win in PA. And we might just gain some House seats too.

Now we have 2 more years of obstruction to look forward to.
Posted by: Steve and Cold Bear at November 07, 2018 01:41 PM (/qEW2)

Primaries run into massive establishment backlash. You're supposed to be on their side, and you're now threatening the seats they think they are entitled too. The Tea Party tried to do a bit of that and they were crushed mercilessly for it.

Letting the moderates get wiped out by the Dems does cause problems, and the House antics for the next two years will be unprecedented I'm sure, but a bright spot is that the moderates are now stained with a defeat. That marks the end of most political careers, and allows for new conservative voices to step forward without being a direct threat to the entitled incumbents.

So no, it's not clean or ideal, but it opens some potential down the road.

Their GOP constituents served these RINOs some failure theater good and hard. "I really, really wanted to vote, I heard your fundraising pleas - but gosh darn it! - it just didn't happen! Try again next time?"

The house will cause issues, but the majority is not huge. We won key governorships, and lost some as well. We did well in the senate, despite a national mood to commit unforced electoral errors. Come on, we have a fighter, and he has tools to fight with.

That, and the fact that Mormons breed big, conservative families, is keeping the blue flow into our state at bay, for now.

Utah county (Provo) is the next largest county after SL county (SLC) and is hugely red. The tech boom in the state is moving a lot of the dem transplants into Utah County though, to the new suburbs popping up there to meet the new housing demands. since the majority of felons these days is minority then they gather at least 2 more votes when they give the felons back their rights.

Me? I'd go for automatic rights after done their time for non violent crimes.

For Violent crimes they should have to apply and be checked out see if they're being citizens.

And for anyone who murders from manslaughter to murder 1 should NEVER get those voting rights back.

I give you nothing more than comparing the FL vote in 2016 and 2018. Rubio cruised to victory in 2016, 700k vote win. We sweated Trump's 120k win.

Now look at it again. DeSantis ran ahead of Scott by 50k votes. Why you ask?? I'd say it was in large part that his Lt. Gov was Cuban and picked up more votes because of it.

He was one of the favorites going. never caught on, and slowly sank on each succesive primary. he only lasted as long as he did because he sucked at reading the writing in the wall and then he screwed the pooch when he refused to back Trump. He did not win many friends or influenced many people. And for his bravado in the Senate, what has he actually ever done? It appears all his colleagues hate him. Just saying

The Democrat Party and voters are moving towards socialism and revolution. Unfortunately their propaganda is pulling a lot of the lumpen proletariat leftward with them.

651 573 Am I the only one that felt like we had a decent night? 1994, 2006 and 2010 were way, way worse for the respective presidents.

The house will cause issues, but the majority is not huge. We won key governorships, and lost some as well. We did well in the senate, despite a national mood to commit unforced electoral errors. Come on, we have a fighter, and he has tools to fight with.
Posted by: Nick in Tallahassee at November 07, 2018 02:22 PM (wGbBR)

The losses of Walker and Jones in MI hurt the most but I agree with what you said.

I think we (and the leftists as well) were expecting a Big, Big Victory - a sign that voters repudiated the other side. I admit, I would have loved to gloat today. So would the moonbats. Nobody gets to do that today.

The thing about Trump is I think he prefers straightforward opposition to the backstabbing of the GOPe crowd. I have surmised that one thing that must have startled him when he became president was the number of Republicans working against him. When you're a CEO you're used to competition. What you're not used to is your own employees secretly or not so secretly helping your competitors and if you do find them out, you fire their asses. Trump couldn't fire Ryan.

What a shock.

You may think you're in opposition with the Left, but in fact you hold the exact same beliefs.

653 I am, too. And I'm really annoyed at the president making a half-hearted stab at doing something about it, then dropping it and making no more efforts. People should get the freaking chair for voter fraud at the levels we routinely see every national election.
Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at November 07, 2018 02:28 PM (39g3+)

IIRC even some Republican governors weren't cooperating, let alone the Democrats. The means used for election fraud are many and often hard to detect, which is why we need national legislation to shut it down.

654 I think it's true that Trump has a higher approval rating among blacks and hispanics than other GOP presidents had. The thing is liking Trump doesn't necessarily translate into voting for a Republican who is not Trump. We'll see in 2020 I guess.

658 My preference would be the electoral annihilation of the Donks. But I like the strategic positioning.
1. Rino Ryan is gone; Trump doesn't have to run against his own party.2. Trump has a better Senate to run appts through.3. Having R's vote for Pelosi as Speaker is hysterical: a burying of the hatchet so to speak and picking an easy foil.4. Chance to challenge Donks on their electioneering on middle class tax cuts. Have a bill on Nance's desk the first day and beat on them.5. McCain remains at or below room temperature.
This morning the thing that bothers me the most is that the GOPe wasted two years. Thanks Ryan. And McCain f'd the country on the Obamacare repeal. Thanks, thanks lots.

659 I don't know how it happened, but it sounds like the young Gen Z kids are actually rebelling against the liberal groupthink they've been taught by their teachers/the culture and are turning out surprisingly conservative. I don't know how. I hope it continues if true.
Posted by: LizLem at November 07, 2018 02:31 PM (hvf9s)

It's natural for kids to rebel against authority. The authorities in most kid's lives now are leftists. The meek conformist millennials both amused and appalled me - thinking they were edgy because of their tats and their skinny jeans and Obama voting when they were simply swallowing everything their leftist profs and the culture told them. I suspect the gen Z kids are tired of being lectured by their teachers and their "woke" older siblings.

660 282 Cities ARE blue liberal places.

Can anyone name even a medium size city that's majority (R)?

Virginia Beach, VA. (450,000+)
That's the only one I can think of and, truth be told, it's more like a suburb without a real urb.

Lynchburg, VA (82,000 within city limits) is also R.
But that one is a bizarre anomaly. It's probably the only city in the country that is made MORE conservative by the presence of a university than it would be otherwise.
(Liberty U.)

There may be a handful of cities under 50,000 across the country that lean R. But beyond that, or if it's a college town, yeah, city=blue.
