West Virginia Senate Race Moved from "Leans Dem" to "Toss-Up"
Come On, West Virginia...

Vote this lying sonofabitch out on his craven liberal ass.

RealClearPolitics changed the Senate race on Monday from "lean Democratic" to "toss up" in response to gains made by Morrisey in the polls. Manchin now has just a 5-point advantage over Morrisey going into Election Day, according to the website's average.

A poll last week had Morrisey, the state's attorney general, up two points. Disaffected Democrats flocked to see President Trump at a rally in Huntington on Friday, where the president urged West Virginians, who voted for him by more than 40 points in 2016, to vote for Morrisey.

103 willowed from last thread:

Here's a ray of sunshine, perhaps.

According to BallotPedia (???), House of Rep retirements are 36 R and 18 D as of mid-October.

Looking at the HoR election on a macro level:

1)
Current House makeup is 238 R and 191 D, w/6 vacancies. (Caveat: I
don't know if the vacancies are included in the retirements above. I'll
assume they are not.)

2) After retirements, then, current House makeup would be (238-36=202) R and (191-18=173) D.

3) Requirement for House majority is 218.

4) That means D's have to win 45 of the 60 open races, which currently are split 39 R vs. 21 D, in order to win the majority.

5) I don't see it happening.

6)
(My other assumption is that incumbent advantage is as strong as ever.
If it's not, I believe that will break in R's favor also.)

With that, I'm outta here. Already voted, and tomorrow is soon enough to learn the results, as far as I'm concerned.

Hoping and praying along with all of you, though! Stand tall!

111 So I live in a liberal stronghold here in Southern Maine - and the line to vote was out the school and wrapped around the gym building. It took an hour and a half to get through it, and it took all of my willpower to not comment about all of the comments I was hearing.

I declined one of those stupid, insipid "I voted" virtue signalling stickers. I can't stand them. Congrats, you performed your civic responsibility - the only other people who get stickers for doing their duty are 5 year old kids when they do their chores - and service members when they "go above and beyond the call of duty." By voting - you do neither. You might as well put a sticker on your lapel that says that you put your socks on this morning.

If you get to wear that stupid "I voted" sticker all day feeling smug and proud of yourself for doing what you're supposed to, then on April 15th I'd like to wear a sticker that says "I Paid (a lot of) Taxes".

I also had to shout my way out of the building after I voted. There was a gauntlet of political lampreys stalking the halls. One an exit poll. I said no. Then before I could even take a step out the door some harpy was saying "SIGN THIS PETITION TO PROTECT MAINE WORKERS!" to which I projected my best sideline football coach voice "NO" and at that point all of the rest of them got the message.

Why am I so angry?

SJWs should calm down, there is equal opportunity smackdowns on both sides of the aisle. I approve of the first wave suffragetes, but man that lady is a humorless scold when you get her talking. A gun store owner with a gadsden flag has a boy locked up in his cellar, dressed like his dead son. Redneck southerners are sibling humpers. It's pretty equal opportunity offensive on both sides, which is probably the point.

Will not be surprised if SJWs try to paint it as the current form of Westworld and try to get it shut down. It is what they do, when you try to have fun wrong.

Won't matter. There's still too many of them. Half of them could stay home and it wouldn't make a difference. Here in upstate all I see are Molinaro signs. Aside from little urban blue pockets I'm guessing most of upstate will probably go red. But NYC always decides the issue.
Wish we could secede from NYC and it's environs. The city sucks so much of the energy and political initiative away from the rest of the state. Not that our GOP is much to be proud of. Molinaro is no prize. But anything is better than Cuomo, who is roundly hated by almost everybody outside of the cities.

330 Voted here in Tennessee and waited in line with a middle age black couple. They were talking to the people ahead of about how this was their first time voting a straight R ticket.

I asked them what changed and they basically said they had voted D all their lives but nothing seemed to change. lol. Hey Phillie, it was Trump vs your boss Hillary in 2016, and he kicked her ass where it counted, in the electoral college. Tough shit for you, loser.

As for Trump's first two years being an "accident," it was no more an accident than when your whore mother conceived you. Oh wait, that probably was an actual accident. Trump's election was less of an accident than that. Trump was elected by tens of millions of American voters who were sick of Obama's lawlessness and ineptness and corruption and incompetence and who deliberately went to the polls and elected Trump instead of the equally lawless, corrupt, incompetent and inept Obama would-be successor, your beloved Hillary.

And no matter what happens today, Hillary will never be president, Obama will always be a feckless fuck-up, and the tens of millions of us who voted for Trump will always be glad we did.

Suck on that, you whiny nobody.

Posted by: Bill Cosby at November 06, 2018 02:41 PM (jxbfJ)

407 FWIW, my analysis/prediction:

The conventional wisdom, using publicly-available polls, is that The Republicans won't lose ground in the Senate, and rather may pick up some seats. Further, that Republicans will likely lose the House, by a small margin.

So start from there, and adjust for the BS inherent in the system. The polls - as in 2016 - contact a small, biased, sample of the population, break THAT down into imprecise info on the various demographics, and then combine those imprecise numbers into final numbers using their voter turnout models. The voter turnout models are likely based on historical trends - which don't apply in the Age of Trump.

In other words, the polls are based as much on the probably-flawed turnout models (which are a wild-assed guess) as they are on what the people who can actually get on the phone have to say. (And what Trump supporter wants to talk to those a-holes?) What they're telling us isn't bad ANYWAY, but they got it wrong a LOT in 2016, and predicting 2018 should be just as much of a wild card.

Now - as then - they can't account for the "Trump factor", which they still don't even understand. We keep hearing the convention wisdom about "mid-term" elections - which DOES NOT APPLY. Usually, the Presidential winner has already simply blown off most of his promises, and gotten almost nowhere with the rest. Disappointed voters stay home. The POTUS tries to help a little where he can, but sometimes it's actually better if he just stays home.

INSTEAD, we have a POTUS who actually EXCEEDED expectations - literally did better than the pundits said was POSSIBLE. Rather than mostly stay home, offering a few endorsements from a distance, THIS guy has held DOZENS of enormous rallies - it's almost like he's running again (because he understands that he sort of IS).

They tell us "the Dems are energized, because they lost, and they're angry", while the winning voters get complacent. They ignore that - normally - 2 years don't go by with the guy you elected getting viciously and unfairly attacked every... single.. day. Perhaps more importantly, they ignore that the Trump VOTERS (and their country!) have ALSO been viciously and unfairly attacked every... single.. day as well!

So don't try to tell me that Trump voters aren't "energized"!! Early voting results are confirming that Republican enthusiasm is at LEAST as great as the Dems.

Keep in mind that true Independents have witnessed both Trump's incredible successes and the the Left's out-of-control maniacal antics.

It's been said that the polls being off (due to bad assumptions) by just a LITTLE can result in a whole string of supposedly-close races ALL going ONE way - and mean dozens of seats moving in the House.

THEREFORE - and keeping in mind the simple truth that "Trump's a Winner" (admit it - it's practically supernatural!) - I predict a BIG day for Republicans tomorrow. To put numbers to it, I'll say Republicans gain 4 seats in the Senate (maybe more!), and stay pretty much steady in the House.

May the Greatness be with you all!

I voted about 1 hour ago.

I admit to voting for Diane Feinstein ... the only alternative was Kevin DeLeon, who, as I recall, is proud of the fact that 1/2 of his family is illegal ...

One item of interest was the number of people voting in-person. I was one of three; one already there, one walked in as I was leaving.

Another item of interest was the number of absentee voters. As the poll worker sorted through the pages to find my name, I noticed quite a lot of print in boxes that should normally be empty.

The explanation was on the page with my name. I was one of about 4 voters with blank boxes for signature and address. The other 20-25 voters had the pre-printed "voted absentee" text.

477 Not gonna get my hopes up, but my polling place in solidly Republican Putnam County NY was far more packed then I've ever seen it. The closest I've ever seen was the first year I lived here in 2010, and that was still nowhere close to today. I'm hoping the cold rain makes the NYC vote say "fuck it, Cuomo's gonna win anyway" and Molinaro sneaks in a victory.

Regardless of the NY vote, I'm gonna pour myself a glass of bourbon around 8:30 and watch the results come in. Second glass if it looks like 2016 all over again!

I wonder if Broward and Miami will try to be last to report again so they can figure out the margin of cheating. IIRC, the county up by the Panhandle skunked them in 2016 so they couldn't pull that garbage.

Hope the hurricane doesn't mess them up.

She should lose, she's dumber than dirt. Did you see her answer when somebody asked her how she proposes to pay for her "Medicare for everybody" plan?

"I don't understand that question. We'll just pay for it!"

Bwahahaha. Yes, trillions of dollars will just rain down from the sky, or maybe it'll grow on the magic money trees she'll plant in her garden.

Every analyst who has looked at expanding Medicare to "everybody" has said that it would cost in the neighborhood of $30 trillion or more, over the next 10 years. Some current administrative costs would go down, but those savings would be dwarfed by the greatly increased demand for services that we always see when something is provided for "free."

And those analyses don't even try to address what happens if we have the wide open borders that Loopy also wants, and we have a few hundred million new third-world residents for whom we're providing "free" medical care.

But we can't expect Loopy to think about such things. She wants medical care to be free for everybody, and therefore it should be free, and she can't be bothered with the pesky details!

Bacon Alternatives Worth Considering
If you want to have your bacon and eat it, too, consider opting for a bacon alternative. While it may not be quite as tasty as a slice of good old-fashioned bacon, it can still be delicious &mdash and, as a nice bonus, you can eat a lot more of it. “I suggest trying tempeh bacon or mushroom bacon,” Leung said. “These alternatives mimic the meaty flavor of pork bacon and can have a similar crunchy texture.”

Nutritionist Tamar Samuels said that turkey bacon can be a great alternative as well, particularly for people who are predisposed to colorectal cancer. “Turkey bacon has less heme iron, which can increase the formation of carcinogenic compounds,” she explained. “I would skip any vegetarian bacon made from ‘meat substitutes,’ as they often contain processed plant proteins that are difficult to digest. Eggplant bacon is amazing, though! You can’t go wrong with ‘bacon’ made from real, whole veggies.”

----------------

I used to play it. Then my internet connection (which was already slow) got intermittently flakey. While I can usually keep it up for a while, I couldn't keep it up long enough to download an entire one of the developer's enormous patches. And whenever a patch file gets interrupted for any reason, the whole process starts over again as the downloader runs a "checker". The checker starts from the beginning of the patch, and basically compares everything that's supposed to be downloaded. Long story short, the checker appears to take nearly as long as the actual file download. And my connection never stays stable long enough.
