1 Good Morning Morons; today is Saturday, October 27, 2018. On this day exactly one year ago the Mueller witch-hunt filed his first charges. Initially these charges were sealed by a federal judge. We now know they were filed against Paul Manafort who was Trump's campaign manager for a few months. We also know the charges had absolutely nothing to do with Trump or the presidential campaign. They were all money related crimes that occurred long before Trump. It was an obvious attempt to get Manafort to roll over and rat out Trump for something. Manafort was tried and cleared of most of the charges. He was found guilty of bank fraud and tax evasion. All which had nothing to do with Trump or Russia collusion. So much for Mueller. What we now know is there was no Russia collusion, this whole thing is a farce designed to embarrass Trump and Republicans in general.

2 We now have another mass murderer who went on a shooting spree. Thisa was in a Synagogue killing 11 people and wounding six others. Hate crime charges have been filed. Why isn't multiple murder enough? Looking at the PA death penalty statute evidently not. You can only get the death penalty if you kill a cop or a politician but not a bunch of evil Joos. So evidently the feds have to file for a 'hate' crime involving a death to make him eligible for the death penalty under federal law because PA really has no death penalty.

16 A Brooklyn coffee shop was fined $300 for putting a sign up in front of their shop saying that they had kept a large number of used paper cups from the city landfill by their use of reusable cups instead of paper. The only places I know of here that use paper cups for coffee are fast food shops. Everybody else uses glass cups at normal restaurants so I don't see what the big deal is. But the city was stupid to fine them for the sign and they have since withdrawn it.

I've seen pictures of people riding on top of box cars but who knows when and where the pictures were taken. If you have ever seen the pictures of what looks like hundreds of people hanging off trains in Bangladesh, India, etc. I haven't seen that in Mexico.

Did you see that article I linked yesterday about those idiots who want to change Halloween from Oct 31 to "last Sat in Oct" despite a 4000 year tradition of all hallows eve? Most Halloween parties and costume parties are held on the weekend anyway. Its only "trick or treating" that is done on the actual date. And that seems to be dying out now anyway. I haven't gotten any in the last two years and it had slowed down to just a few even before that.

My twee little towne's main street has a Trick or Treat up and down the street, and all the shops hand out candy to the little freckled bratlings. It's very cute.

I myself will be going to a friend's neighborhood to tag along while the grandkids have their first night out. You just have to find a neighborhood with families.

As a kid, we lived at the end of a long country road so we had to jump the county line into the rich toff suburbs for that sugar rush.

I think the standard (from the automatic spacing on my TREX decking is more like a scant 1/4", but I get leaves, twigs, and acorns embedded in there so the 1/2" inch might be easier to keep clean and tidy!

176 Hi, guys. Some odd light this morning. Everything outside has an orange/amber cast to it. The best I can describe it is an ordinary overcast morning, as seen on a phone or laptop that's gone into that after-dark mode where it dims the blue end of the spectrum so it doesn't keep you awake. I'd get a picture of it but it doesn't look real - it really just looks like an ordinary morning with skewed color curves.

Also I haven't raked the leaves and I'm a little embarrassed to show a picture of it.

To maintain even spacing, Mrs. Krebs created two spacer jigs that we placed between planks when a new plank was added and then secured with decking screws. Each "U" shaped jig had two nails for its upturned legs. I forget the nails' size, but they approached the recommended 1/4" spacing in diameter.

I think it varies with manufacturer, for example TREX is not white, but it also does not match the surface pattern color. However, they do sell a paint that supposed does match. I needed this to cover the plank end cuts, but life intervened and I never actually used it so can't report on the durability or color match of the paint!

And you have to get a Supplement "F" in order to keep from having to pay a co-pay because Medicare doesn't cover it all. And the "drug" benefit on a supplement F is just about worthless.

There is an off the shelf deck screw clip that fits in the TREX side grooves that does "automatic" spacing and allows a pretty easy invisible mounting installation.

255 The TX voting machine thing is voter error. The ones in question are an electronic slate. All of the controls (not a touch screen) are colored bright red and they pop up from the surface like a keyboard.

There is a Forward button and a Back button shaped like the appropriate arrowheads to go from one page to the next. There is a Selection Wheel to move the cursor from one item on the page to the next in linear sequence. There is an Enter button to choose the highlighted item that the cursor is resting on. And when you are on the final page of the ballot the last item on the page is the Vote selection. When you highlight that item and hit Enter, it pulls up all your selections on the screen to review one final time. Then you hit the Vote button to record / cast your ballot and when done, a waving American flag displays and thanks you for voting.

The midterm ballot is a long one in most places because we elect our Judges, county officials, state officials, etc. It can take a few moments after you hit the Enter button when the cursor is on the Vote selection for the machine to display all of your selections.

What voters tend to do is try use the Selection Wheel to advance the page (not necessary) after hitting the Enter button. What this does is change your straight ticket vote from Party A to Party B as if you had changed your mind during the review step.

It's like your cursor is still in a dropdown box and you move it throught the selections in the dropdown box instead of moving your cursor to the next item.

With the E-slate, it is very simple to use and nearly fool-proof if a voter will take all of a New York Minute and read the instructions or ask for help from a poll worker.
