NYT: Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein "Suggested" He Could Wear a Wire to Record Trump to Make a Case for a 25th Amendment Removal
A savvy analyst posits that this leak is all about Rosenstein trying to make himself unfireable. He's trying to drum up support from the leftwing (as if he needed more of it) that he's protecting the Deep State from Trump, and that any firing would therefore be another Obstruction of Justice or whatever. Fire him. Fire him now. Damn the consequences. Fire his ass.The deputy attorney general, Rod J. Rosenstein, suggested last year that he secretly record President Trump in the White House to expose the chaos consuming the administration, and he discussed recruiting cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Mr. Trump from office for being unfit. Mr. Rosenstein made these suggestions in the spring of 2017 when Mr. Trump's firing of James B. Comey as F.B.I. director plunged the White House into turmoil. Over the ensuing days, the president divulged classified intelligence to Russians in the Oval Office, and revelations emerged that Mr. Trump had asked Mr. Comey to pledge loyalty and end an investigation into a senior aide. Mr. Rosenstein was just two weeks into his job. He had begun overseeing the Russia investigation and played a key role in the president's dismissal of Mr. Comey by writing a memo critical of his handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation. But Mr. Rosenstein was caught off guard when Mr. Trump cited the memo in the firing, and he began telling people that he feared he had been used. Mr. Rosenstein made the remarks about secretly recording Mr. Trump and about the 25th Amendment in meetings and conversations with other Justice Department and F.B.I. officials. Several people described the episodes, insisting on anonymity to discuss internal deliberations. The people were briefed either on the events themselves or on memos written by F.B.I. officials, including Andrew G. McCabe, then the acting bureau director, that documented Mr. Rosenstein's actions and comments. None of Mr. Rosenstein's proposals apparently came to fruition. It is not clear how determined he was about seeing them through, though he did tell Mr. McCabe that he might be able to persuade Attorney General Jeff Sessions and John F. Kelly, then the secretary of homeland security and now the White House chief of staff, to mount an effort to invoke the 25th Amendment.Also, fire whoever it was who suggested this tool for this position, assuming that person hasn't left the White House yet. Also, start scrutinizing anyone else was suggested by whoever vouched for Rosenstein and look for reasons to fire them as well. Update: Rosenstein denies this. Fire him anyway. An accusation of wrongdoing is, the liberals assure me, enough to convict. Meanwhile, Andrew McCabe does not deny it in a response. His non-denial is so plainly a non-denial you have to imagine he intended it to be read as a confirmation.

had post-treatment MRI, and the original location looks fine. The path
of entry/exit for removal of the tumor shows an indeterminate
differential darkness/lightness, which is presumed to no be scar tissue
or other normalities such as blood, fluid, grey matter. The
recommendation is a follow-up surgery scheduled for next week. Mixed
bag. Treatment appears successful, where it was focused. Where it wasn't
is indeterminate but presumed cancerous, and this is the follow-on
treatment phase.

There's nothing in the constitution that even comes close to suggesting that executive branch employees do anything other than work for the president.
All of their power is derived from Article II which couldn't be clearer in stating that "The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America."
In fact, the civil service system is relatively recent (and arguably unconstitutional in that it hinders the president from firing people to whom he delegated some of his executive power.)

The thing is, they've been trying to work this 25th amendment nonsense for almost 2 years now and haven't found anything at all to hang it on. And honestly how could they? The amendment states (in the pertinent section):

That said, I find Weft Cut-Loop's theory stated in comment #29 to be at least as plausible as McCabe exacting revenge.
This could indeed be yet another (and so far the most potent) attempt to goad President Trump into taking an drastic action that can then be spun as obstructing the Russia-meddling investigation.
I actually think that Trump should not impulsively fire Rosenstein.
Rather, Trump should require Rosenstein to submit to an intrusive investigation designed by POTUS himself. The investigation should NOT be handled by the IG. The anal probe should come complete with multiple lie detector tests.
Then, when Rosenstein refuses, Trump should publicly declare that if Rosenstein will not cooperate with the investigation, he'll have no choice but to fire Rosenstein.
Finally, when the swamp rat refuses yet again: that's when POTUS axes him.

What we're seeing right now on the national stage is a clash of two cultures, each of which assumes it is the dominant culture.
In Liberal College Land, it has been firmly established that the mere accusation of sexual impropriety leads to automatic conviction and punishment. Due process, Sixth Amendment, etc. are all out the window. People in academia think This Is The Way The World Is now, and have no clue that outside their academic bubble, normal people do not abide by these rules.
Meanwhile, in Mainstream Normal America Land, the constitution still applies, and accusations are viewed with a skeptical eye until proven to be true, and until then all accusees are legally presumed innocent. Normal Americans have no clue that there even exists a subculture where totalitarian unconstitutional witch-hunts are a daily occurrence.
So when this woman gets up and accuses a man, she and her supporters automatically assume that they just won the argument; but Normal People think no such thing.

Perhaps, and it may just be how the company level logistics and tactics are designed around resupply - hand in glove. But 240 rounds is eight mags and is not too much of a burden. I also recall that the loadout - as expected - for typical hit and run tactics such as for the taliban is a lot less.

In July, Ford Advisor Spoke of "Strategy" That Could Defeat Kavanaugh
Ford has sought advice from Democratic operative from Ricki Seidman, the woman who helped Anita Hill.
Well, back in July, Seidman spoke to the American Constitution Society about a strategy that could end up defeating Kavanaugh. Remember, July is when Sen. Dianne Feinstein received Ford's letter. From The American Mirror:

"Over the coming days and weeks," Seidman says in the recording that seems to have occurred shortly after Kavanaugh's announcement, "there will be a strategy that will emerge, and I think it's possible that that strategy might ultimately defeat the nominee."
She didn't provide further details, but given the fact that Dr. Christine Blasey Ford "is being advised by" Seidman, according to Politico, it's not difficult to conclude the plot currently unfolding began months ago.

Trend here is.... not good. But this Kavanaugh thing is, as has been said in other threads on Ace today, is all about the long game. Unable to convince the voting electorate of the desirability of their policies, the Left absolutely depends on the Court to implement their policies, particularly their social/cultural policies (which is ALL the Dems have, if we're being honest).
Replacing Kennedy (a squish on some key issues) with Kavanaugh (presumed to be more reliably conservative than Kennedy.... we'll see, b/c we've been burned many times before) is a mortal threat to the Dems' only reliable avenue for policy implementation. The only thing they'd fight harder for is Trump's replacement of Ginsburg, which could happen any day.

That will leave Roberts as the tie-breaker. Plus, he's Chief Justice, which means that when he's in the majority on a given case, he gets to choose who pens the majority opinion, and he'll pick himself when he sides with the Liberals (which can actually be a good thing, as it was when Kennedy did it, because the Majority opinion is the only one that actually becomes the law of the land).
