This isn't even comparable. The Dems who have left Congress or Hollywood, etc. have all admitted to much of the allegations against them, levied by adults in their same business or involved in their projects, against an adult male. This is an eleventh hour allegation by a psychotic psych professor from Palo Alto University who claims she was assaulted by two teenage boys at a party 35 years ago in which neither successfully gained access to her body except on her clothes and to whom she was able to escape. Whose ages might have been 15 or 20 since she doesn't know the year. Whom she claims were intoxicated and followed her upstairs in an adult free house while she went to the bathroom and then dragged her into a bedroom. Although originally their were four teenage boys. And she knows all of them became important men in Washington, even though she didn't go to HS with them because at least two of them went to an all boys prep school.
As of yesterday,she was still listed on the faculty of Palo Alto, although her email address and school phone number had been removed. Her students have rated her terribly , saying she has mental problems( Gee, a PhD at a school that only teaches psychology, what a shock)

Actually the FBI has zero jurisdiction in this alleged case. It would be the local DA/Police who would investigate. Problem is, she refuses to say when or where the alleged sexual assault took place except it was nearly 40 years ago at some unidentified house with some random number of unidentified people there.
The bull$hit that the dems are spewing about the FIB investigating is all a big red herring to let her back out of testifying.

All this looks like is giving the story credence and validity, when it should have been ignored and laughed off to begin with.
I wouldn't say that about a more serious charge. The stuff against Roy Moore, while I think it was BS, was serious and significant, particularly the 14 year old girl and the hand down the pants etc. That's just nasty and illegal.

What's the point of a hearing? This bullshit, 36-year old claim can never be proved or disproved.
She shows up at a hearing, repeats the story she's told the media, and Kavanaugh repeats his denials. What does that resolve? Nothing. She can't produce any contemporaneous outcry witnesses because she has already said she didn't tell anybody about the alleged assault until 30 years later. She said the attack took place in a locked bedroom, so she can't produce or name anybody else who could have witnessed it. The other person she has named who was inside the room, Mark Judge, has already flatly denied that the attack happened. She told the WaPo that immediately after the attack, she ran into the adjoining bathroom and made sure she didn't look like she'd just been attacked. So she can't even produce or name any witness from the house who might have seen her looking disheveled, not without contradicting her own story anyway.
And Kavanaugh can't do anything other than continue to deny that he did it. How is he supposed to prove that, 36 years ago, he was not at a particular house (when we don't know what house it was), on a specific night (when we don't know what night it was), in a particular year (when it could have been any one of a number of years because the accuser says she can't remember)?
It's bullshit. And all a hearing will do is prolong the bullshit.

Collins has said each side should be able to ask questions of the other.
Even Flake is saying that if she doesn't appear, it's full steam ahead. She won't appear because they'll throw up so many "items" that the Senate can't possibly be agreed to.
This was a hail mary that will fail. It is meant to allow red state D senators a way to vote no and not hurt their election chances (or at least as much had they voted yes or no). To "taint" future opinions by Kavanaugh. And a hope that Collins/Flake/et al would vote no.

Kav was going to be confirmed, and still will be, but at the last second the Dems have managed to extract some *additional* negative PR to their efforts. While many somewhat engaged people are fairly hardened to the incredibly classless and indefensible Dem stunts of recent years, this nonsense just freshens up that big negative for the Dems, and is red meat for the already-engaged anti-Dem "base".

It gets harder to play a trump card if you always play it. The big picture for the left should be to preserve the RGB seat.
