2 Good Morning Morons; today is Saturday, August 25, 2018. On this day in 1814 British troops torched the Library of Congress, United States Treasury, Department of War, and other public buildings. Supposedly the attack was a retaliation for the recent American destruction of Port Dover in Upper Canada (Toronto). Their intent was to burn the entire city but a rapidly developing thunderstorm put out the fires before most of Washington was burned.

8 'Kissing Bugs' supposedly are now spreading a disease previously found only in South and Central America. We have had kissing bugs here for a very long time with no 'Chagas' disease, so why are we getting it now? Gee one wonders since kissing bugs are only the vector for moving the disease from one person to another.

Only in NYC or SF could this commie scrunt be elected. And these communist practices have been tried over and over all over the globe. They always promise utopia and what they get is breadlines, starvation, and misery. All because the FSA loves these kinds of politicians. And yes, I blame FDR, LBJ, and the latest self-confessed communist, Obama.

And unless Awan was some super secret double agent spy (for US) ... how the heck does he walk away from having such deep infiltration?

The whole world comes to the US and either bribes our DC corruptocrats, or gets big money by promising to be our friends, or to not cut off the oil, allow us to have an air base ... our DeepState drives us in debt but "solves their problems" by throwing our money around. 68 our government still seems to only care that those hiring illegals make sure they have (even fake) ID ... looks like another charade ... pretend to check and that's good enough.

If we really need the workers, we could set up a real transitional system ... give real work visas, but have them pay real taxes, not be on welfare, tax remittances, etc. CoCs are fighting it every step ... and seem to usually win.
Still too much profit from hiring illegals and letting taxpayers fund their health care and other social burdens, even as their paychecks get sent back to subsidize Mexico instead of building the local community.

Employment numbers look good, but there seem to be a lot of people that took Moochelle's advice to just not work, live off welfare, so they are not in the "looking for work" but unemployed numbers.

73 The D'Souza article from the ONT was interesting. It disproves the big lie of a Nixon 'southern strategy'. I saw the 68 election as a repudiation of lawlessness and leftist rioting, as an angry 'silent majority' let their voices be heard. 'Stop it' was the message.

Any Dem strategy of 're-create' 68 should have a similar negative impact. I say should. I don't have the time to tear apart every poll like I did for Trump, but old habits of pollsters of starting with a conclusion then getting the numbers they need to prove that conclusion seem to be in play again.

My prediction is the American people don't want Nancy Pelosi walking around with her 'big gavel' again.

right, and Mitch and wife collected some ~$20M from her family, as they were being friendly on China policy.

seems China is much bigger problem than Russia, but both are very busy at all the DC/NY cocktail parties, have all sorts of operations (legal and otherwise) on both coasts ... probably in every major city.

The thing that makes the Mueller/Rosie coup most disturbing, is it sends the message to any potential whistle blowers, that DeepState is still fully operational, punishing anyone that dares speak up. That is true within the agencies as well, from all I can gather.

There are only rumors that real prosecutions are being prepared, but there are real cases of people being punished/demoted for even internally speaking up about abuse/crimes of DeepState. All the hopes/promises of Huber/Wray/etc. always seem to fade as time passes.

But the top of the old FBI are largely fired and/or being investigated .... which itself is historical. Yet there sits Mueller, perhaps worst of them all. they always investigate themselves, still true.

yeah, right.

But seriously, Trump needs to unredact all the Congressional requests the DoJ has released but drowned by Sharpies.

There isn't any secret sources and methods, it is all just embarrassment for the DoJ and FBI senior players getting covered up.

It's time to fight back, using their own words against them. Make them public. Shine the light on the cockroaches.

Trump needs to drop them one a week. Start the week after Labor Day. Can't remember exactly how many documents the Congress has received, but I think it is at least 3. Drop one at a time, drag it out, and watch the Left and Press heads pop like teenage zits.

And the info would hit about the time the voting public starts paying attention for November.

Because there are a lot of brainwashed people out there, the press has been lying to them something fierce. I run into them from time to time, and they are so misinformed, it is like someone somewhere planned it that way.

Plus they squeezed him when he stumbled a little on his "never met any Russians" statement in his confirmation. It was nothing, but that is the Dem talking point, and he cratered, obeyed Rosenstein.

------------------------------

this is exactly what makes me burn.

FBI and DoJ agents are given a special status in our American society. They are entrusted with many powers. The implied deal the citizens have with them is that they must stay on the straight and narrow, and police themselves if a few go astray. The opposite is true, we now plainly see.

The facts being revealed show they have accepted corruption and abuse of power as the new status quo. And then they lie and mislead when confronted about their actions. This cannot be allowed to stand.

156 "Supposedly the attack was a retaliation for the recent American destruction of Port Dover in Upper Canada (Toronto)."
Vic, I think you got your battles mixed up. Port Dover is not Toronto and that was a tiny raid. The retaliatory operation against Washington was mounted because of the 1813 Battle of York. York (now Toronto) was the capital of Upper Canada (now Ontario) and an American force overwhelmed the small British force in Ft York. The retreating British blew up the magazine so that the powder would not fall into American hands. This caused the deaths of a large number of Americans including the commander, Zebulon Pike (what a great name). This enraged the Americans so much that they sacked the city, including the destruction of the parliament building. They even stole the mace! (Ask someone from the Commonwealth about why this was a big deal). The Americans eventually returned it, after about 150 years.
The US tried to take York again in 1814, but the defenses, including a rebuilt Ft York were far too strong and the Americans were repulsed. Many of the Ft York buildings still stand and if you're ever in Toronto, the restored fort is definitely worth a visit. Just remember that there, the Red Coats are the good guys.

This right here is the kind of thing I'm looking for. I figure I can't be the only person to have ever stored a bunch of black powder in plastic jars in a basement, but it's really distinct from smokeless or Pyrodex chemically, and good luck finding search results where people are talking about *real* black powder and not pellets.

I also have some of it in a brass flask and a priming charger now that I think about it, and those aren't 100% air-tight. I guess I could try a tap from each of those in the fireplace with a torch striker. If they still go, then the stuff that's in capped plastic should be fine.

Don't put anything in the can of powder. When we were doing Civil War reenacting I used to real black powder keep powder good for 3-4 years with just putting a desiccant in the cabinet I stored the powder in and never had a single issue. We would order 20 pounds at one time for the entire unit and split it up about every 3 years or so. We were in the business about 10 years and never had any powder go bad.

You should be OK as long as you don't open and close the cans multiple times. That stuff is pretty stable if you leave the caps on and just use one can at a time.

276 Lerner and other IRS officials met with select top staffers from the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee in a "marathon" meeting to discuss concerns raised by both Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI) and Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) that the IRS was not reining in political advocacy groups in response to the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision. Senator McCain had been the chief sponsor of the McCain-Feingold Act and called the Citizens United decision, which overturned portions of the Act, one of the
"worst decisions I have ever seen."

In the full notes of an April 30 meeting, McCain's high-ranking staffer Kerner recommends harassing non-profit groups until they are unable to continue operating. Kerner tells Lerner, Steve Miller, then chief of staff to IRS commissioner, Nikole Flax, and other IRS officials, "Maybe the solution is to audit so many that it is financially ruinous." You have to fill out a form and send them a copy of your DL before you can order.

You can call them up and ask how much shipping would be. I can't recall what it cost but we got the whole unit together so we would only have to order it every two or three years.

Yeah, Sleepy has no taste for conflict or the job, but-

that would've been hard to predict.

A-a-a-a-and, this is where we see the basic weakness of the Middle Class politically.

We're all rule followers and hold jobs - that's how/why we're members of the Middle Class.

That's why we need honest representatives, who represent us honestly, have honor, are tough, and will fight for us when we give them our vote.

In all honesty, the Dishonorable Sleepy could probably be easily forced from office if, like the Democrats' Brown Shirt Division, we had crowds of unemployed crazies, trust fund a-holes, and redeployed uniontards to go chant at Sleepy's house every day.

He has zero stomach for the fight and would resign tout suite.

Bu-u-u-ut, we Middle Class types follow the law and hold jobs.

Not that I recommend that action anyway. In the end, it's profoundly unAmerican.

That's where we're headed though, if street violence and lawfare works, if the Dims aren't fully renounced at the ballot box this Fall.

Third World here we come.

Each Trump tax return has thousands of pages and requires of months of negotiations and meetings with the IRS to produce. Any errors or misrepresentations would reflect poorly on the IRS since they have been involved all along. If there were anything illegal in there the (leftist, politicized) IRS would have already acted on it.

The real goal of making the returns public is to identify people and organizations Trump does business with as targets for harassment, and to find pathways for infiltration and sabotage of his businesses. Trump knows this and it's why he won't release them.

Last time I took ScoggDaughter on a family trip ... she invited a friend to go along with us to the Smokies.

Two teen girls, and my ol' lady chiming in, really gets on the nerves. So - when they insisted on "going on a hike" - I marched their pampered asses up about ten miles. That really shut up all the "girl talk" for a while.

Seemed like a great idea - I really enjoyed it. Until it started looking like I was going to have to carry them all back down.

Still ... when I finally got 'em all back to the cabin ... silence, baby. I've never enjoyed a cold beer and quiet more.

405 If you are killed by someone with less privilege, it's not murder since you were wronging them by having more privilege. The only time it's wrong is if you are killed by someone with more privilege (even if you deserved it, a la Michael Brown).

Hence, the left doesn't regard the Iowa incident as tragic, not even her own family. And given she was a leftard, neither do I. Her last thought was probably "I deserve it, because of my privilege". The only tragedy is that like minded individuals won't off themselves or move to Mexico. They'll vote.

Scaggs was on at least the first couple Steve Miller Band albums, which were very good. Frankly after Scaggs left Miller's music got incredibly boring imo. If I ever have a classic crock station on the car radio and "The Joker" comes on, I hit the presets so hard I almost break them. "Jet Airliner" or "Keep Rocking Me Baby" don't get as immediate of reactions but it's still paint by the numbers generic filler compared to "Living in the USA".

No joke, I've been working on a browser plug-in for #twoweeks. Annotating commenters is one of the planned features. It's not quite ready to ship. The comment page DOM tree is... creatively designed.

The comments and the block that has the nick/timestamp/hash are two separate siblings that alternate throughout the center column, for example. A hash isn't an attribute of a comment. Imagine going to a grocery store with one aisle full of food on shelves and on the next aisle over, all of the price tags. Kind of like that. So that's nice!

455 Trying to catch up with the current spirit of the Horde, it seems a hiking story might fit.

My boys are growing/grown. Fledged. A couple of years ago I wanted to capture a good Bander Boys experience and proposed a camping trip with a hike up my father's favorite mountain, Mt. Monadnock.

Twenty years prior I had scattered his ashes from the summit. I remembered it as more of an uphill walk than a serious climb. We went up in a couple of hours, let the winds take his remains, and walked down the hill.

So in the end only No. 1 Son could make this trip, but we had a successful camping adventure and set out to walk up the hill. On the way up someone looked at us and said "you'll need more water". I accepted it out of only politeness. I think I even remembered a spring coming out of the rock near the trail. Ain't no thing.

Well, the hike went on an on. I kept thinking it was around the next bend. There were stretches that went straight up. Have I lost that much in 20 years? I have to take stops to rest. We achieve the summit and No. 1 says "so where did you scatter his ashes?". I point randomly and say "over there".

Now, when this has all passed I call Mommy and tell her what we did. She asks, "which Monadnock?" I say "Monadnock, silly, the one that the geological formation is named after". She says "there's a Big Monadnock and a Little Monadnock".

So, I checked and it turns out that the walk up the hill was Little Monadnock, 1900 feet. No. 1 Son and I had hiked Big Monadnock, 3,200 feet.

No wonder it didn't look familiar.

463 73 The D'Souza article from the ONT was interesting.

Posted by: Forgot My Nic at August 25, 2018 06:49 AM (LOgQ4)

Pollsters are fraudsters simply based on sample size.

Each demographic is large enough to require on the order of 10000 samples to get to 95% confidence with a +/-5% spread. So just doing D/R and M/F gets you into 40K sample size. The pollsters operate on 1-2K sample sizes. Then and "magic" to claim theirs is accurate.

477 468 You have to wonder about the toll the media's constant hatred of Trump is taking on his ability to conduct foreign affairs. The Norks are starting their shit again---maybe that was always pie in the sky--but my point is they watch the US media and hear the word "impeachment" being thrown around. How do they know Trump will be president a year from now?

Precisely. Yet another example of the Left's outright treason.

479 I know conventional wisdom is that you need larger calibers to stop a bear. But I wonder, if one had an automatic that shot smaller rounds, like .223, could you at least wound or chase off the bear?
==============================
An NPS ranger, (old school, moron material) said 12 gauge w/alternating slug/buckshot was the best bear stopper going. He was stationed at Glacier NP where the bears are brown and hungry.

Sure. But it's gonna kill you before it runs off.

Sleepy has no taste for conflict or the job, but-
that would've been hard to predict.

Actually it should have been easy to predict. He spent 20 years in the senate where you never stick your neck out on any subject and successis measured by how well you can build a consensus with your distinguished colleagues.
