"So it looks like the Manafort trial wrapped it up yesterday. Turns out he's guilty on the tax evasion counts, for stuff he did back in 2005. This has nothing to do with Trump or any supposed collusion with Russia. Not only was that stuff not on the table, it wasn't even in the same room as the table. Also, Michael Cohen pled guilty to some campaign finance violations that were actually are smaller than Obama's. And this is a civil, not a criminal violation for which the Obama campaign had to pay a fine of $375,000. Which, again, has nothing to do with Trump or any supposed collusion with Russia. But the progs are all hootin' and hollerin' and giving each other high fives while going 'woo woo' as if they fully expect to see Trump in handcuffs by the end of the week. They're going to turn into tantrum-throwing two-year-olds when it finally dawns on them that it's all a big nothingburger with a side order of nada and a 16 oz. cup of bupkis -- with no straw. But by then they'll be on to the next scandal, which is looking like it's going to be some tape recordings Omarosa made of Trump burping after a meal. Of course, if she had anything really damning, she would've released it by now. My guess is that she's trying to squeeze every last dime she can out of the time she was with Trump before people catch on that she's got nothing."

Prayers for healing and Pooky's girl asked for prayers that he move up in company so that he doesn't have to work so many hours which causes stress.
7/31-Hrothgar's sister is home but very weak and frail. Hrothgar concerned about her living arrangements (is alone) and finances connected to moving to a assisted living facility. Needs rough places made smooth fort that.

8/6 Lurker Phineas has inoperable advanced prostrate cancer, Asked for prayers to bear effects of hormone and radiation treatment, wisdom for doctors, peace for children and that he might live long enough to comment his memory with granddaughters ages 2 &4. Prayers for successful treatment
8/6-Beverly, Has dad dealing with senility. Also Beverly needs positive resolution for continuing complicated legal concerns over malfeasance with financial issues by brother who is power-of-attorney for dad. Needs courage, strength, and God's wisdom. Brother needs spiritual healing and conversion, too.
8/15-Aelfheld's friend in rehabilitation needs continued prayers for regaining strength and mobility.

Rarely get to listen to ol' shouty all the way through, but we were on the road. So, it was a good day to have been able to hear him. I always think I'll download the shows, which is the best way to listen anyway because you can pause, backup, and ff past dumb callers and Levin commercials - but the only place I have the focus to listen to anything spoken for longer than a Chuck Woolery Blunt Force Minute is while driving.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WTHR) - South Carolina is getting the first-ever "The Simpsons" Kwik-E-Mart.

"... Every inch of this store is themed, including bringing products to life," Mark Cornell, senior vice president of attractions development with simEx-Iwers Entertainment told WMBF. "The products that are on the show, you can actually come and experience in the store first hand. Sort of like getting a taste of the show."

The Kwik-E-Mart is a staple of the show and now fans will be able to experience it in real life including Bart Simpsons Squishee machines, hot lamp hot dogs, Flaming Moe's energy drinks, Buzz Cola, and the iconic Lard Lad donuts, WMBF reported.

According to Cornell, there are plans to create more Kwik-E-Marts like this one.

The New Jersey U.S. Senate campaign is developing into a horse race as Democratic incumbent U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez leads former pharmaceutical executive Bob Hugin, his Republican challenger, by a slim 43 - 37 percent, according to a Quinnipiac University Poll released today.

This compares to a 49 - 32 percent Menendez lead in a March 13 survey by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University Poll.

When one party willfully breaks the rules for personal gain, the other party should not continue to obey the rules or it leads to a bad/good outcome - bad for the abider, good for the violator.

This is simple "tit-for-tat" and it leads to the best overall outcome. I do agree that instigation of violence is not the right thing and I am not saying we should take to the streets and start beating people (though hitting back is of course rational and correct, should you get hit first).

Thankfully, this doesn't happen much, even on the left. In the realm of "civil" discourse, however, we absolutely should not be polite and kind to those who are demonizing us. We should demonize them right back, just as harshly and hopefully with greater humor. Humor acts as a force multiplier.

265 In order for the court to accept a plea of guilty, the accused has to state what they did in an elocution to ensure that the defendant states that they committed the elements of the crime that they are pleading to.

I have seen elocutions where the court glossed over certain elements and the accused never stated what they did.

The court does not have to accept the plea if the defendant doesn't state facts that support the crime. I just don't know what recourse we have as citizens to say "Hey, what he pled to isn't a crime."

Unfortunately, as part of the plea, Cohen probably waived any right to appeal the plea conviction, so he can't appeal, unless he can claim ineffective counsel, which may be a valid assertion.

Not only will she suffer no blowback for this statement - and her opponents are too gutless to crucify her for it - she will actually gain support for saying this.

Why? Because it will be framed as Republicans "seizing" on a one-off story to paint all immigrants - and remember, we're a nation of immigrants - as criminals, murderers and rapists when the vast majority of them are trying to make a better life.

Well, let's go back to the 80s. The Soviet Union has set the path of the whole western left since the 50s (at least).

This isn't to say all leftists were tools of the Soviets, but they used the language and thought processes of the Soviets. History was centered on the battle between the owners of the means of production and the workers. More moderate leftists might not want the dictatorship of the proletariat...but they did want more government to "protect the workers".

As we know now, communism failed utterly at improving the lives of the Soviet workers, and it would collapse completed when Reagan pressed them.

The left then sort of fell apart. Yes, we had President Bubba, but the left really didn't know what it wanted - it didn't have an end state anymore. The workers in the west were pretty fat and happy.

This is where the switch to national socialist economics came in. The government failed as an owner of industry...but what if we left ownership in the private sector but controlled by the government....by our friends...both the owners and the bureaucrats controlled it.
