1 Good Morning Morons; today is Sunday, August 12, 2018. On this day in 1981 the first IBM Personal Computer was released. Its operating system was DOS 1.0. Along about the same time Kapro came out with its PC which used the CP/M operating system. This was my first computer. I had a lot of trouble getting software because everyone was making stuff for the IBM DOS market and although CP/M was supposed to be compatible, it wasn't for the most part.

And IBM dominated the field for a long time. But it wasn't because it was a better machine. It was because corporate bosses wanted 'IBM' which they worshipped.

3 Officials say that all that crazy guy who stole that aircraft had to do was flip a switch. It had no other safeguards to prevent an unauthorized person from stealing the aircraft. I would have thought if it did not have a key switch for energizing the controls it would have had some kind of computer lockout requiring a password. I suspect that is about to change. And come to think of it, in my flight simulator days all one had to do was place a switch in the start mode and flip a switch for each engine.

6 Former Senator Tom Coburn is now working with a group pushing for an Art V convention. He thinks they have a good chance of getting one. He says it is the only way to prevent the US from becoming a Socialist/Marxist country like most of Europe. He is right but late. We are already a socialist country. That change began in the 30s under FDR. We are also a Fascist country that is massively over regulated by Washington AND the State governments. You can hardly do anything now without running into some local or federal regulation.

7 The DOL is now saying inflation is rising at the fastest rate in 10 years. Onlyu because they are giving more honest numbers since the Choom King left. Economists at one point during his reign of terror said real inflation was approaching 21%. And all you had to do was walk down a grocery store aisle to see it.

Twitter has monopoly power. And in this day in age, if you wish to have an influence in politics, not having access to Twitter puts you at a big disadvantage. Imagine if the old, regional phone companies blocked certain, minor, political groups from ordering landline hookups? That'd be fucked up.

80 @14
This is example 1,452,357 of why the GOP is a useless pile of dogshit.

This is a 5 year old story and it's coming out now, I'm confident to near 100pct certainty that the GOP knew about this and never made a peep about it nor used it against DiFi to try to drive her from office or used it to mitigate the attacks on the sitting GOP President.

And I love that DiFi can basically wave away any culpability or criminal investigations with a, "I'm just as shocked as everyone else that my "chauffeur" of 20 plus years was a spy.

And the double standards are outrageous, the spy isn't named, he was able to just slip away, the FBI warned her, they didn't acquire a FISA to immediately start spying on her, in fact they worked to mitigate the exposure all with the aiding and abetting of the GOP.

I fucking hate all of these pieces of shit.

OK what they did was put a question on the 2018 Republican Primary asking voters if they wanted to close the Republican Primaries. I could not find what the result of that was. I did find hundreds of article by Democrat and the MFM in SC opposing closing them . Of course they want them open.

Bottom line, I do not know and can not find what happened to that vote. I do know that I have got no notice that we have to re-register as a member of a political Party. Which means they are still open primaries.

116 > Sorry dude, twitter is a private company and can censor however they want.

That's not how it worked historically.

Traditionally, there were two categories of "carrier" (both carriers of physical goods and carriers of information).

A private carrier (such as a newspaper) had total control over its content, BUT along with that, had total responsibility for said content.

A so-called "common carrier" (such as the phone company) had no responsibility for the message content (for instance, you couldn't successfully sue the phone company because someone used the telephone to plan a crime), but, in exchange for that immunity, they were obligated to provide service to anyone with the money. They were not allowed to discriminate based on content.

Note that in both cases, responsibility and control were proportionate. Newspaper: total control, total responsibility. Phone company: no control, no responsibility.

What the Twitters and Facebooks are arguing is that they should have total control, but no responsibility.

Nope. If they want control, they need to also assume responsibility (e.g., for the vast amount of copyright violations that take place on their services).

I feel certain that regulation in this area would pass constitutional muster.

Twitter should be forced to decide whether it is a common carrier or a private carrier. If it is a private carrier, it can control its content any way it wants (but is also responsible for that content). If it is a common carrier, it's not responsible for its content, but neither is it allowed to discriminate.

152 Alabama's voter ID laws had no suppression impact on black American turnout in the state's most recent Senate election.

Despite constant accusations from organizations funded by billionaire George Soros and Democrats that laws mandating voters show ID ahead of casting a ballot suppress minority turnout, the most recent case in Alabama seemingly debunks this theory.

Jones was carried to victory by black voters who turned up on the clear December day in numbers higher than expected. According to exit polling conducted by CNN, black voters overwhelmingly supported Jones, with 98 percent of black women voting for him.

Twenty-nine percent of voters in the Alabama special election were black, according to CNN, at a time when they make up about 26 percent of Alabama's population. While one in four people in Alabama are black, one out of every three voters in line Tuesday deciding the race between Moore and Jones was African-American.

Double dos was appearing and the ability to jump between apps, which we take for granted now, was huge. You could only run two separate apps, but it still was a huge productivity enhancement.

162 Kaypro was an Osborn clone. You could get a Kaypro with an orange screen, but most were green screen with a really long phosphor decay. Later they came out with a version that had Hercules graphics, about 700 X 400 resolution if iirc. Then you could play Asteroids on it. The asteroids would leave little green trails all over the place if you turned the brightness all the way up.

I believe it. It's origins are the Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) moon mission software, where millions of parts had to be inventoried. It's pretty incredible.

Somebody in the early days of micro computers figured out how to port it to PC's and made a mint, I'm sure.

Later on I converted it to something called Clipper, for the speed, and the fact the code was compiled and a customer didn't have access to my source code.

182 Basic economics. In a growing economy, such as what we have now, you have rising inflation. One reason for that inflation is that demand is outpacing supply. To help prevent that rise of excess growth in aggregate demand you raise rates to help cool off and manage that demand. This is precisely what is happening now.

Obama, on the other hand, oversaw the weakest recovery in our history because he discouraged capital investment, kept taxes high, increased costs such as healthcare, increased business operating costs and generally led an anti growth campaign. One might argue his QE also eventually cause inflation to rise, and he hid that rise by cooking the books- the ultimate reason we did not face hyperinflation being, Trump.

Piccadilly Cafeteria was the modern S & S type restaurant.

185 "S&S Cafeteria"

S&S used to have a bunch of stores thruout Ga. The reason I asked was because one of the first dBASE programs I wrote was to track comment cards for them. You know the little cards that ask about service, the food, etc? They would enter the comments and the program would generate reports of things like the top complaints by location. Things like "dirty utensils" and "slow refills on drinks" were always near the top of the list.

Some politician made a statement recently that 10,000 baby boomers a day are signing up for social security. Which actually, based on birth data after WWII makes sense.

Anyway, the point is, with perhaps 300,000 people a month (not sure what percentage are still working) leaving the workforce, are the actual job creation numbers reflecting that fact that perhaps twice as many jobs are being created and/or opening up as boomers are being replaced?

Anyway, it appears to be a good time for job seekers.

226 The gill was introduced in the 14th century to measure individual servings of whiskey or wine. The term jill appears in the nursery rhyme Jack and Jill. Soon after ascending to the throne of England in 1625, King Charles I scaled down the jack or jackpot (sometimes known as a double jigger) in order to collect higher sales taxes. The jill, by definition twice the size of the jack, was automatically reduced also and came tumbling after.

247 A-hole Republicans in the House are trying to stick an amendment onto the DHS appropriations bill that would undo Jeff Sessions' overruling of the idiotic U.S. Civil Rights Commission decision that had allowed foreigners to claim asylum in the U.S. on the basis of domestic and/or gang violence in their home countries.

The lefty Civil Rights Commission had decided, in its infinite wisdom, that the Refugee Act of 1980 should cover any foreigner who wanted to make an asylum claim in the U.S. on the basis of claiming to be a victim of domestic violence, or saying that they were afraid of gang violence in their home country. After the Civil Rights Commission issued its stupid decision, it became SOP for illegal aliens to claim asylum on these flimsy bases, because by doing so they were guaranteed the right to remain in the U.S. until some future hearing date, and if their asylum claim was approved, they'd be qualified to immediately bring their entire family into the U.S. as asylees also, and they'd all be entitled to the full panoply of federal welfare benefits. Essentially, the Civil Rights Commission had issued an open invitation to the Third World to come set up residence in the U.S., bring their entire families with them, and live off the U.S. taxpayer.

Jeff Sessions had rightfully overruled the Civil Rights Commission's decision, because it was stupid and inconsistent with the law (as set forth in the 1980 Refugee Act), and because hundreds of thousands of Third World economic migrants were taking advantage of it to move to the U.S. and screw over U.S. taxpayers. Now a bunch of back-stabbing RINOs in congress are trying to undo Sessions' sensible action.

Kellie Collins, of Thomason, turned herself into the McDuffie County Sheriff's Office just as authorities in Aiken County, South Carolina found the body of Curtis Cain, Collins' former campaign treasurer.

In 2017, Collins ran as a Democrat against incumbent Rep. Jody Hice, a Republican, for Georgia's 10th District. She ultimately dropped out of the race, citing personal reasons.

Schlichter is right. They have declared war on us--can't hide behind the Old Rules.

btw, they are committing fraud by failing to tell conservative users they will be shadow-banned, harassed or censored. And committing more fraud by not telling advertisers they are suppressing eyeballs because politics is more important.

We preferred the Old Rules. But they killed them. New Rules it is.
