Chuck Ross: Christopher Steele Was "Concerned" About Senate Inquiries Into The Dossier, Text Messages Show

Why should such a straight-arrow boyscout of a truth-telling professional have any concerns about inquiries into his conduct?

You'd think he'd be proud. I've been assured by the left and the NeverTrump Rump (but I repeat myself) the sun beams out of this guy's immaculate asshole.

* Text messages between dossier author Christopher Steele and Department of Justice official Bruce Ohr have been released.

* Steele said in one message that he was "concerned" by a Senate Committee on the Judiciary request for records about the dossier.

* Ohr and Steele met in Washington, D.C., before the FBI opened its investigation of the Trump campaign.

Christopher Steele expressed concern last year at a Senate committee's request for information about the former British spy's anti-Trump dossier, according to text messages recently provided to Congress.

"Would it be possible to speak later today please? We're very concerned by the Grassley letter and it’s possible implications for us, our operations and our sources. We need some reassurances," Steele wrote in a March 7, 2017 text message to Bruce Ohr, who then served as deputy assistant attorney general.

...

Grassley's letter also posed a question that hit directly at the relationship between Steele and Ohr.

“Were any other government officials outside of the FBI involved in discussing or authorizing the agreement with Mr. Steele, including anyone from the Department of Justice or the Obama White House? If so, please explain who was involved and provide all related records," Grassley wrote.

Remember, the FBI had fake-fired Christopher Steele in November, 2016 by breaching, allegedly, the requirements that he not speak to the press about his alleged research. He was also told that he was to no longer gather alleged information for the FBI.

The reason I say "alleged" so many times is that now I'm not sure the FBI really fired him. Steele continued working with the DOJ after his firing for cause/for his lack of integrity, in a system probably set up by Sally Yates whereby Bruce Ohr would act as a cut-out to pass Steele's continuing bullshit to the Obama Administration. Despite his alleged "firing" and bar from continuing his operation on behalf of the government.

I begin to wonder if Steele actually talked to reporters with the tacit or explicit approval of Obama Administration officials, and then was only fake-fired because they knew what he'd done violated government policy, and that even though they'd authorized that violation of government policy, they would have to fake-fire him to make it look, as they say, "by the book."

Also remember: The Hillary camp was desperate to get this bullshit narrative talked about in the press, and so of course would want Steele to try to do just that; one can imagine Obama Administration partisans joining her in such a project.

But that theory aside, let me quote from that second article linked, by Deb Heine, excerpting from John Solomon's recent report as well as others.

Hundreds of pages of previously undisclosed FBI emails and memos show that the Democrat opposition research firm Fusion GPS, through former British spy Christopher Steele, worked closely with the FBI, and DOJ official Bruce Ohr, to take down Donald Trump before, during, and after the 2016 presidential election.

And even after the FBI officially stopped using the "dirty dossier" author as a confidential source (because he leaked to the media), they turned to then-associate deputy attorney general Ohr as a back channel to Steele.

...

In a new report at The Hill, John Solomon details how Ohr was working with Steele well into the early days of Trump's presidency, even after the FBI terminated its relationship with him.

Ohr, who reported to Obama-era Deputy AG Sally Yates, was demoted last December, but remains employed at the DOJ. Yates was fired by President Trump because of her insubordination over his travel ban.

...

Steele asked Ohr on Jan. 31 if he could continue to feed information to the FBI: "Just want to check you are OK, still in the situ and able to help locally as discussed, along with your Bureau colleagues."

"I'm still here and able to help as discussed," Ohr texted back. "I'll let you know if that changes."

A lot of people are very curious as to who "our guy" is in the below text:

Steele replied, "If you end up out though, I really need another (bureau?) contact point/number who is briefed. We can’t allow our guy to be forced to go back home. It would be disastrous."

According to Solomon, House investigators don't know who Steele was referring to when he said "our guy," but they're keen on finding out.

Honestly, I think it depends on how quickly they can suppress "conservative media." All of the collusion arrows are pointing to the Left on this one, and each exposure is more outrageous than the last. If they can successfully suppress the other side, they'll just switch to a new narrative about Oceania and memory-hole the entire thing.

If you go back to Rosenstein's last testimony before Congress when he was being grilled by Jim Jordan (IIRC) he was asked why he signed the FISA renewal.

He seemed to indicate that what he signed was not what was being described. It sounds like there are other versions of the FISA application out there that don't match up.

FISA information does not come under FOIA. Contrary to popular belief this FISA application was not released because of a FOIA request by JW. It was released for a different reason.

159 Looking at the facts objectively, we are staring at the biggest political scandal in history. It dwarfs Watergate, makes the Bay of Pigs look like a flat tire. Can you imagine the book or movie? There's the chapter where Hillary and the DNC hire GPS Fusion through a law firm cut out to find dirt on Trump. Steele never traveled to Russia, so how did he get the information? Who are the shady sources? Then the corrupt servants of the Obama administration are brought in to weaponize the FBI and DOJ. What great evil villains this story have with Brennan and Clapper, and the preening, arrogant Comey all lying, conniving and manipulating to bring down Trump before and after the election. The betrayal as Rosenstein sets Trump up with a letter arguing for Comey's firing and then using that as a pretext for Mueller. Then we get to Mueller hiring all of these dems to go after Trump. Then we have Trump, betrayed by the deep state which is colluding with a media that hates Trump with intensity of a thousand burning suns. G-d, what a story. Yet all of these hack media mosquitoes harness their mediocre talents to report false or misleading stories in the hope that they will bring down Trump. Actually, that's a chapter in and of itself.

168 What I find additionally troubling, on top of all this slow motion coup d'etat shit is that the ongoing current elections are so neck and neck close. I just must have a different definition of what it is to be an American because after all this seditious, back stabbing, treasonous behavior going on right in our faces how anyone can vote Democrat at this point is beyond my ability to understand.

Unless I think of it in terms of us actually having been overtaken by the enemy. I've long said that I think we lost the Cold War regardless of the demise of the USSR. Their pernicious, murderous ideas seem to have infected us and I'm afraid the affliction is fatal. I pray that it's not but I am skeptical. The bad guys control too much of the means of communication and education. Which is what, incidentally, revolutionary movements do as a matter of course.

The enemy is inside the wire.

If Trump doesn't have the "un-redact everything" card as his hole card I will be very surprised. I think pineapple is only appropriate on pizza in New York, or
Chicago,, or maybe both - but nowhere else. Elsewhere it's like eating a
green bean casserole.

It has seemed to me for sometime that the media and their Democrat tools have been trying to hype into being a movement, that is 'if we create enough buzz they will come'. That it isn't really there keeps coming out, for example this AOC woman is the Wave of the Future and then all of the people she endorsed flopped. They seem to have staked a lot on this one turn of the wheel and if it doesn't come out then God alone knows what level of acting out they will reach.

241 Trump has a steely confidence about where this is going. He must have some idea what's on the road ahead.

If Trump doesn't have the "un-redact everything" card as his hole
card I will be very surprised. That would mean that quite likely all his
cards are already revealed and that means that Dem's win in 2018 and
he's swatting impeachment flies until 2020...getting nothing much else
done. If there is a better time than Sep/Oct to come with the big
surprise I can't see where it would be.

But the endless waiting is sure getting old.

The smart play will be for Trump to hold his cards close to his chest and then in late October he will release the Kraken (unredacted FISA warrant) if meuller is still dragging his feet and hasn't closed up shop by then.

Remember, Trump has already seen the unredacted copy, he knows what's in it and how damaging it could be to the dems.

One compelling theory with all this shit is that it is so much more vast than just corrupt democrats trying to take down outsider Trump, more than NeverTrump and UniParty cogs in the executive and legislature, that EVERYTHING is corrupt UniParty and it will destroy the US Government if anybody tries to remove these parasites.

... the US has already fallen from within...

Oh, and:

252 187 36 Trump has a steely confidence about where this is going. He must have some idea what's on the road ahead.

I am waiting for that unexpected prime-time 2-hour block of TV requested by Trump, where he starts out "Ladies and gentlemen, grab an adult beverage, and sit down - what I am about to tell you is going to rock this country, and rock the worlds of quite a few corrupt politicians, bureaucrats, judges, and law-enforcement officers!"

253 I'm sick of all of this. We would never be in this situation if the GOP stood up for Trump, defended him, and went after the dems. No, the GOP was gleeful to help get rid of Trump so they could push for their open borders.
Most of the MSM have read the entire unredacted FISA when it was sent to the Senate Intel comm in March 2017 and know it is bs. They've been lying about it for over a year. Too bad that copy has the wrong date so the leakers could be identified. That comm is totally compromised. I love that Wolfe wants to call the intel senators to testify. He's not going down alone.
It's go time. I don't care who is involved. Im sure it is a combination of D's and R's. If John McCain is too sick to testify, he needs to give his seat up or be indicted. And Cindy is not a replacement option.

254 Hey, I see in the earlier comments that people are complaining that "journalists" could really run with this. I think that's a slap in the face to Ross, Solomon, Sara Carter, etc.

They ARE journalists, and they're digging up a lot.

What you want are so-called "mainstream" reporters to get involved. I agree, but fat chance.

Let's keep the terminology precise, and remember those who are doing the real work. Someday, they will receive the accolades owed to them.

I dunno, Jack straw. Everyone keeps talking about how the judges were "fooled" into "rubberstamping" the warrants, and no one wants to mention that the judge surely knew they were seeking to secretly wiretap the opposing campaign for president. Unlikely anyone was careless when faced with such a request.
