Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Short and Sweet ONTShort one tonight, kiddies. I've been out of town all week in Ft. Worth. I think I'm in love with that town. While there are a few modern glass skyscrapers, and one Brutalist monstrosity that should be imploded, the entire downtown is all Art Deco. How cool is that? Anyhow, I got back this afternoon, and spent the time since then replacing the hot water heater in the RV. (Easy job. Piece of cake. I could do it in 10 minutes if everything was out in the open. Since it's not, and since it was a cast iron bitch to get all of the screws that were holding the old one in out, I just finished and realized, hey, after 9:00, ONT. So, sorry) Anyhow, I noticed that begun, the fast food wars have.2016 Election Results Here's a pretty neat map that breaks down the results of the race by precinct. What You Gonna Do When They Come For You? The social media mob is a danger to society I'm 100% with Ace on this one. This is pure game theory, the prisoner's dilemma to be precise. The Left must be made to pay the price they envision for us until they cry uncle. Then we can go back to being one big unhappy country together. If not.....I'm fairly confident we can outlast those Mfers. I don't want that. I've been screaming against it for years, but they didn't listen, so if that's what the game is going to be, than I am playing to win, and fuck all of the “Muh Principles!” surrender monkeys. Fourscore and Seven Tears Ago.. Everyone from the Left to the Swamp to Conservative, Inc. cries copious tears over Trump daily. As an historian, it all sounds just too familiar. I think someone needs to come up with a simple spray.. a spray anti-mob folks can spray on the bandanas that would force them to take them off and reveal their face.. at which time you take a photo of them and submit it to a anti-antifa database.. It had a CEO of a company addressing all of his subordinates at a board meeting. His line was "And so I've reached the conclusion that the Wonker Weiner Company is staffed by incompetents." One I saw a the link, with dog hiding beside the dryer labeled "Cat Fud". Another is seen from the back of a car, with a cat beside the driver. In front is a dog leaping for joy. Well, the Horde responded in an incredible fashion. I am simply amazed at the Community here. The generosity was overwhelming, and I would like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart. If I'm trying to think of states where the barbecue would suck, the first ones that come to mind are Michigan and Massachusetts.
Michigan isn't really particularly famous for any sort of food. Detroit-style pizza, maybe, and that does look mighty good, but it's not barbecue. Massachusetts, food-wise, has, uh, Boston baked beans, and Boston cream pie. Not barbecue. Also... not even meat. Wisconsin at least has sausages, which cook up nicely on a grill. And Minnesota, well, they're very outdoorsy there, so even if all they're grilling is fish caught from a hole in the ice, that still sort of counts as barbecue, IMO. WD - did you go instant hot water on the RV? I have make that decision soon with mine. No. I just replaced the 6 gal one with another 6 gal one. It's an old RV (95), and I didn't feel like footing the expense of tankless and figuring out how to re-engineer everything. Mechanically, it runs great. Ford e350 chassis, 47K miles, runs like a top. All of the interior systems work well too, gas, electric, water, etc. Unfortunately, as might be expected from the age, the RV body has an advanced case of rot from water. It's all just plywood and 2X4s, I've replaced some of it, but I haven't decided how much of that I want to do. Posted by: Weirddave at July 26, 2018 11:01 PM (bQXMb) 290

City officials in Portland, Ore., say they'll be cleaning up the "disgusting" Occupy ICE camp after police cleared the area of protesters Wednesday. The mayor's office said it would pick up a portion of the tab for the clean-up, FOX 12 reported. Meanwhile, the Portland Police Bureau has cordoned off the site, calling it a biohazard. Debris being cleared Wednesday included wooden pallets, makeshift toilets, books, toys, plastic containers, liquor bottles, tents and furniture, photos published by the Oregonian showed. Mayor Ted Wheeler publicly ordered the Occupy ICE protesters to leave the camp Monday, but they ignored the mayor's request. That prompted Portland police to step in and clear the protesters. Yesterday I mentioned that I thought I was going to hell for stealing a Hoosier cabinet. . Guys who own the place said take whatever you want (after the theft) so I wasn't going to hell anymore.
I also snagged a sweet gentlemen's dresser that is in much better condition than the Hoosier. Today I spent hours scrubbing the dresser, then coating it in lemon oil. It is now simply awesome and sitting in my sewing room. The Hoosier is still in pappymayhem workshop. Four days of scrubbing and still needs more. This one could take a long time. Posted by: CharlieBrown'sDildo at July 26, 2018 11:20 PM (wYseH) Avoid Ryobi. I've got a corded Ryobi 1/4 sheet, corded orbital sander over on the junk pile. It's internals self digested in mid-use, with only a couple of months of medium-duty use. Too many plastic & nylon parts inside of it. And while I'm sure AOP could make some use of the motor and switch, the unit itself is a shell full of shredded polymer bits n' pieces. Milwaukee and Makita are good pro-grade tools. Rigid and the higher end DeWalt are good upper-mid-grade stuff. Most of the Black & Decker, sadly, is now barely above Ryobi on the food chain. Plus, if it's just an occasional-use tool....buy the corded version. You really won't wanna babysit batteries that see use only every few months. I took a two day workshop on sewing machine repair last weekend. It was for vintage machines. We used that Goop stuff to clean machines. It doesn't hurt the decals on the old machines. We used Howard's Feed N Wax on the machines afterwards. (Machines newer than 1965 were treated with automotive products. Different type paint). Many folks use Howard's Restore A Finish on treadle bases. You might try that on the Hoosier

Mix one part leather dye (Kiwi is okay, and widely available; Fiebings is better, but a bit of a specialty item) with one part neatsfoot oil (DO NOT try to substitute 'mink oil' or 'compound neatsfoot oil'). There is nothing illegal about any of it except Don Jr was interviewed by Mueller's team under oath and said his father had no advanced knowledge of the meeting, Cohen testimony will contradict that so Mueller is going to charge Don Jr with lying to investigators and obstructing justice more commonly known as process crimes. Honestly, I was cracking wise about Simon Phoenix, but I have always thought Demolition Man is the most likely dystopia.
A sad, sorry, fearful pussified version of America. Where everyone has forsaken their liberty, their self-determination, and even their libido in the name of safety. They can't defend themselves, they can't wipe themselves, they can't even fuck without the help of machines. I think this is the most likely ( negative) outcome for our future, and while I liked the movie, I think it's a shame they didn't make it better, and more serious, and less comedic. It's a visionary concept that could've been treated better. Posted by: Yudhishthira's Dice at July 27, 2018 12:07 AM (UiRxW) 575

There is a certain category of luxury car that does not age well. Back in the day, Chevy Monte Carlo and Chrysler Cordoba were typical. Some of the big BMW's and Mitsu's would likely fall in that class, too. They aren't real luxury cars with a prestigious brand, and strong dealer backing; they threes dressed up as nines. And when all the magic gimmick features start failing, they descend to beater status real quickly. And those are the sort of cars that fell prey to Cash For Clunkers.

----------- What happened to those? Where are the 944's, the Supra Turbo's, RX7's? Posted by: Mike Hammer, etc., etc. at July 27, 2018 12:00 AM (CDGwz) The Mitsubishi and it's Dodge Avenger clone were two of the most impossible to maintain performance cars of their era. 1. Dense-pack engineering. Which means that there was technology stuffed into nearly every cubic inch of the engine bay, under the dash and many other odd spaces. You don't get a wrench in there to remove a part, without first removing sixteen other parts to GET TO the part you want to get to. Actually, it was worse than I describe. 2. Infamous Mitsubishi "Quality", built in! (pssst... I think they learned Q.C. from Fiat?) The 944 drivetrains held up well enough, but owners would ditch the car as the interiors decayed into dust. And they all decayed into dust. German "formulas" for making UV resistant interior polymers never too into account Southern USA heat and U.V. levels. And all of the surviving RX-7s get snapped up by the serious Club Racers, and get thrashed to death. From those three cars, I think the 944 was the best all around platform as a daily driver, and clearly had enough of the Porsche aura to it to hold respect, at least for the decade of it's production. Best car I ever owned - '76 Mercedes Benz 300D. Bought mine with about 250k miles on it - barely broken-in - and absolutely loved the damned thing. Every drive in-town felt like I was in a parade. People would stop and wave as I drove by.
Posted by: Your Decidedly Devious Uncle Palpatine, SMR and Ancient Slavonaut Newsletters at July 27, 2018 12:21 AM (fA1SL) Mine was a '77. The M-B 123 platform is still one of the best, ever. But, I'd resto-mod one back to "like new", without the vacuum acutated climate, cruise and door lock system. I'm sure by now, the aftermarket has proper electric replacements for all those trouble prone bits. Jim Sunk New Dawn Galveston, TX Posted by: Jim at July 27, 2018 12:24 AM (QzJWU) 629
Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at July 27, 2018 12:15 AM (4FKb7) -------------- I worked as the Service Dispatcher in a Cadfy dealer from '82 to '84. If I could have seen Cash for Clunkers coming, I could have made a freaking fortune off of those POS'. Not by trading them right then, but holding them for a year in someone elses name, as per the rules. Those things were coming in for rings at 9k miles, and I'm talking Eldorados and Sevilles, pricey at 12k at that time. Posted by: Calm Mentor at July 27, 2018 12:25 AM (b3Pum) 630

The great ding about the wankel is that you and another guy could lift it out of the engine bay without using a hoist.
There were guys who would use a 5 gallon paint bucket as a stand to dissemble the motor and replace all of the APEX and other seals and springs in half a day. Throw it back in and you were street racing at the Point that very evening. Posted by: Kreplach at July 27, 2018 12:23 AM (FquqN) I don't know about them being light weight. I have handled a few, and found them heavy for their size. Piston engines have a fair bit of open space inside them. Rotaries are damned near solid metal. What is good about them, mass-wise, is that their center of gravity is low, right about even with the center line of the eccentric shaft. Which is good if you want a good-handling car. Had nurses get dad in bed and reminded them about the bed alarm. He cant walk. went to dinner at 730 got back at 9. He was agitated. Nurse got his meds and he relaxed, he is now worse than this am. Went out to hall to speak with nurse, She went to get juice and I found dad out of bed barefoot in the bathroom shaking in the dark. The bed alarm wasn't on. Thank god he didn't fall.. 1968 for me.
No fault divorces were not nation wide. Courts used rule of law. Contracts enforced and valid. Immigration and naturalization act only 3 years old. The purchasing power of the dollar was 80% stronger than it is now. One income middle class families could own a home and have a large family. Feminism was not as bad. The fleet at "Destroyer Rock" was caught between two technologies, as often happens in our gee-whiz age. There were radio nav signals, but they weren't yet trustworthy in darkness and fog. And they were on simulated war maneuvers, so could not slow way down for lead-line soundings. Dead reckoning by RPM's was thrown off -- who knew? -- by rogue currents from the Tokyo earthquake the week before. Fate was the Hunter. 23 dead.

We also always had heat in the winter. My Dad worked us every weekend. I at that time hated him for that. Later I learned that work makes you whole.

Communist States of America in 'undeclared state of siege' as hooded gunmen rule the streets
https://bit.ly/2K5g92o July 26, 2035 04:51 PM Updated 8 hours 1 minute ago CINCINNATI, OHIO They ride in the back of Toyota double-cabin pickup trucks, assault rifles slung over their shoulders. No one knows their identities. They always wear black ski masks or hoods. The gunmen - between 10,000 and 15,000 of them, according to some estimates - are part of a recently formed paramilitary force protecting the continued rule of President Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez against a three-month-old civilian uprising. Their main tactic is terror. They conduct roundups, fire at protesters, carry out dark-of-night raids and menace the population. The Pro-Human Rights Association of Communist States of America said Thursday that paramilitary forces have conducted 540,900 "kidnappings" and disappearances of citizens since the uprising began April 18. The group said it has tallied 9,500 killings since July 11. Posted by: Trigger Warning at July 27, 2018 04:19 AM (YRXy3) 736

I mean msg apps have been forever. Yay now with pic sharing , whoo! S t r o k e E g o s It not so much evil maybe - but that kinda is the definition of taking advantage of and promoting common human frailties. This is a race to the bottom u see. Lefties are st the helm. Side note: first saw this before cared about politics. Had MTV on while studying. Spring break fest ? Dancing half nakedness for a week straight. Don't get me wrong I have nothing against half naked women but I was like "who t f watches this" ( I usually had on trauma ER or some VHS movie for the 101 time ). --- then, month or 2 later, non stop "get out the vote" concerts whatever. There message was: " Vote just to Vote" I was like 'what's wrong with this picture' ? So yeah that's when I first saw those guys were playing a whole other game. 1) Decided that moment I was of the opinion uninformed people should abstain from voting out of a sense of civic duty. Didn't vote myself till round #2 (after I saw men in suits staring out their office window having to choose between ending up extra thin or extra crispy). 2) Decided that moment either no one was running this ship or they had no clue what they are doing Skipping ahead... went back to real life / work or tried at least. Then, 3) "We" voted in a smooth talking scheister promising no less than robbing peter to pay Paul so Paul would vote for him and his ilk in perpetuity and .... to fundamentally transform the US (basically that's sedition). And so on.... and it was clear ... utterly blatantly crystal clear: Me You Us We were being "removed", systematically, culturally, genetically. And they knew exactly what they were doing the whole time - and whoever was supposed to be defending our flanks was either dumb or in on it. (*)=>we were over run Survival dictates salvage what u can and believe me my survival instincts were kicking in in 2009 ... I may have only been and still am 29 but I ain't no French man. But others thought that was crazy talk. So here where are today ... now at least ace is on my side but "we no longer have the balls". That maybe true and maybe then true those ballless never did. I have no plans to storm a beach by my lonesome but I know a few states that are adjacent and not landlocked that might be ripe for "gentrifying" as the left likes to say. One can dream right ? --- hmm... What an interesting brief history i just typed... I literally had to scroll up to remember what the hell I started this post with and how i got here. Maybe there is something in the water. Posted by: V b d s at July 27, 2018 04:46 AM (O4cUV) Posted by: BourbonChicken at July 27, 2018 04:49 AM (rnAwa) 746

I'm kind of piecing together what probably will happen with the new upper
decker being vomited forth by Mueller from that snake Cohen that Trump knew of and approved the meeting with the Russian lawyer that Don Jr attended. There is nothing illegal about any part of the meeting and even if Trump lied he wasn't interviewed about it in any official or legal forum or under oath, BUT.... Don Jr was interviewed by Mueller's team probably under oath and said his father had no advanced knowledge of the meeting, Cohen's testimony will contradict that so Mueller is going to charge Don Jr with lying to investigators and obstructing justice more commonly known as process crimes with no other underlying crime. Doesn't matter if there is no one else to corroborate Cohen's testimony, Don Jr will be charged and indicted, the process is the crime and will put the screws to Trump ala Flynn when Mueller threatened his son. What is going on is as antithetical to justice as can be imagined. Jeff Sessions is a disgrace. Posted by: Kreplach at July 27, 2018 06:10 AM (FquqN) 772

As you may remember, a local SF news anchor reported the four Chinese pilots on a live broadcast, and this guy was one of the names. Captain Sum Ting Wong, Wi Tu Lo, and Bang Ding Ow were reported to be the three other pilots. No, really. Confirmed by the NTSB. Saw some of the SF wanting to ban the free lunch at some companies. I wonder what will happen to the restaurant/cafeteria employees that the company hires to run the cafeteria? Posted by: Bruce at July 27, 2018 06:35 AM (8ikIW) The software companies in the PacNW that offer on campus dining do it because of the productivity increases. Less time traveling to lunch means more of the day to get more work done. Also, it extends to breakfast, so employees can start earlier because decent food is ready for them at work. It isn't about the Subway around the block. But the Socialists are our superiors, so shut up. Posted by: LeftCoast Dawg at July 27, 2018 06:58 AM (UsCnO) 805

We had our morning excitement. Dolly, our 4 year old Brittany, was excitedly nosing around her dogloo. Of course I had to lift it, expecting a squirrel or chipmunk (one of the critters that chewed through the heater cable I have to repair/replace in her dogloo).
Well, we beheld a baby skunk! Tiny thing that would fit in the palm of my hand. She was on it in a flash. I didn't know what it was until she spat it out the first time. Finally got her in the house, sans skunk. Not full blown skunk smell. Just sorta chemically. Washed her face and she huffed and chuffed for a good half hour. And pestered me to let her go back outside into her pen. We'll hold off on that for a while. I checked, but it seems to be gone. Prolly wriggled out a small gap in the wire. The polling data from that map was depressing. I've seen my town go from predominately (R) to now 60% (D). We all knew it would happen as developers swooped in, bought up farmland, and built lower cost homes. At the same time the school district when from top two to about fourteenth place, while spending three times as much money. There's no fun in making predictions and being correct when the end result is so bad. Posted by: Forgot My Nic at July 27, 2018 07:26 AM (LOgQ4) 838
