1 Good Morning Morons today is Saturday, July 7, 2018. On this day in 1456 Joan of Arc was retried and acquitted heresy 25 years after she had been burned to death. People who want religious law in the US should not forget this kind of history.

23 Regarding wind generated electricity in the ONT how is it that the cost of decommissioning is not factored into the costs. Nuclear power plants are required by law to factor in those costs. Could it be that wind generated electricity is some of the highest cost electricity we have and the AGW scammers are afraid to add to those costs?

Modern wind turbine generators cost between $1500 and $2000 per kilowatt for wind farms that use multiple-unit arrays of large machines. Smaller individual units cost up to $3000 per kilowatt. In good wind areas, the costs of generating power range between five and ten cents per kilowatt hour.

When I retired the cost of our generation averaged over a three year period was 1.3 cents per KW. True some plants cost more. The more expensive new plants run about 2.1 cents per KW. This is the kind of shit you never hear from the MFM.

The justification on the ban on all sales (not just alcohol) was that the Bible said the Sabbath was supposed to be a day of rest. The fact that the Biblical Sabbath was Saturday, not Sunday, was apparently lost in translation somewhere.

I always try to stock up but sometimes outside factors intervene. The point is Blue laws are unconstitutional and should all be eliminated. However the wording of the amendment that repealed prohibition allows States to do anything they want with alcohol sales.

Let you or I tell the FBI or DOJ to shove their subpeona where the sun don't shine and see what happens.

81 Trump would gain many votes by bringing the drinking age back down to 18, as it should be. You're an adult, learn what your limit is.

And yes, I may have made the occasional spectacle of myself but I didn't get behind the wheel plastered. That is a different matter.

If we waited until maturity sets in I wouldn't have had my first legal drink until, oh, now. Maybe.

An article yesterday claimed that the front-runner is Raymond Kethledge, from Michigan. Supposedly he and Trump hit it off in their in-person meeting, and Trump likes the fact that he is a mid-westerner and a regular guy, as opposed to a D.C. insider (like Brett Kavanaugh).

But as link at comment #15 shows, Kethledge is weak on illegal immigration, and has written a bunch of opinions in which he goes overboard in excusing the illegal aliens' lawlessness and advocating for them to get waivers and exceptions to allow them to remain in the U.S.
I hope Trump does not choose this guy, no matter how much he may personally like him.

_____________________

You can replace cracked tiles (hopefully, you have spare tiles that match) by prying them up (which is not always easy) and laying new ones down. You can also fill in missing grout (again, it's best to have the same color grout, if you want it to look aesthetically pleasing). A tile guy can do it for you, or you can do it yourself. Look on YouTube for some how-to videos if you're unsure. If you have broken tiles in places where you need precise cuts, you may want to hire a pro.

141 Replacing grout is easier now, you can get small tubes of it and fill in missing lines. A tile is a bit more of a undertaking digging out old tile and underlying grout and putting it back. Getting old sub layer is the hard part as you are building it back up so if old layer is not completely gone the new tile will be higher.

First take the grout out of the joints surrounding the cracked tiles. Big box sells scoring tools for just that.
Once isolated, break out the old tile, usually small chisel, hammer, then stiff putty knife.
Use "full-flex" adhesive to affix them.
Grout, according to directions.

If a tile cracks, there was a void under the tile. Or a screw head, or something that didn't allow it to set flat. Fix that while you're at it.

183 Do tiles have to be glued down? The two broken tiles are whole and untrimmed. Can get matching grout. It would appear this is easier than I thought.
__________________

Yes, once you have the broken tiles out, you'll need to secure the new tiles to the subfloor with adhesive. And make sure you chip out all the old stuff first, or your new tiles won't lay properly.

Again, YouTube has many "how to" videos that show you step by step how to do this type of chore, so watch some of those before you begin, if you're feeling unsure about anything. Also, the sales people at the hardware store can be very helpful. So if you're not sure what type/amount of tile adhesive to buy, just ask.

210 Cramped cabins, knocked knees, aggrieved elbows: all real problems for todays flyers. But the Federal Aviation Administration has said they aren't its problems announcing Tuesday that it will not regulate airline seat size and legroom.

the FAA said that current seat size is not a safety issue. The time it takes passengers to get out of their seats, even if those seats are relatively narrow and close together, is less than the time it takes for the emergency exits to begin functioning and for the line that begins forming in the aisle to clear

Crap. It is a safety issue.

Eye protection is good advice even if you're just cleaning up the edges.

Wear a dust mask if you have to clean any of the old mortar that was on the floor, too. That stuff is rough and will have you wheezing the next day if you breath much of it. It's a pretty easy job, though, and you'll feel accomplished once you finish. Watch some youtubes and get a feel for it, then dive in.

249 245 I am so appalled and frustrated by this. How are we going to stop liberal violence if they get away with it like this??

For ar least 2 decades I have been saying none of this nonsense will get fixed until the dads of America have had enough. Motivated vigilante dads... with leather belts.

Guess it might slow them, but the way things are now the dads would get life in prison....

250 Ever Leftist I hear say the constitution is a living breathing document I just want to smack up the back of the head. Teachers in high school tried to get me to believe that crap and didn't then.

252 Iris, would you ask your hubby if he knew Audie Davis, please?

Audie Davis was the voice of common sense in the FAA...God's gift to the licensed pilot. Somewhere there should be a shrine to that man and to all the pilots he defended against the license-grabbers in Washington.

254 244 Glad I got my traveling in during the 70's ad 80's. Looked my first passport and there was only 3 blank stamp spots left when I renewed it in 1979. I'm pretty sure I'll never fly again

I traveled enough as a contractor in the 90's that they glued extra pages into my passport.

Worst flight was on a Saudia 747. Middle seats made for tiny people/kids or smething. Had the middle seat between an ex-pat couple, both 300 lbs or so. I was a newly discharge vet, a tall and trim 200 lbs. My hips just fit between the armrests. Ended up commandeering the cabin crew fold-up seat somewhere over the Atlantic.

255 "Ever Leftist I hear say the constitution is a living breathing document I just want to smack up the back of the head. Teachers in high school tried to get me to believe that crap and didn't then."

We were discussing that on the way down her on Thursday.

So what the living document position says is that gays can have the right to marry because enough of the American people changed with the times, and the constitution responded to that change in opinion.

So if the American people later change their minds in significant numbers, and oppose gay marriage, the Constitution would then respond by changing again to rescind the right to gay marriage?

If it's all about the 'feelz' what happens when the 'feelz' goes in a direction that the Left doesn't support?

Then we go back to being strict originalists concerning keeping the changes that were made to support their positions and belief?

Ah... wait.

257 Blue laws in my hometown Lincoln NE banned alcohol sales on Sunday's when I was a kid. But booze addict Indians would go to Walgreens, buy rubbing alcohol, strain it through a loaf of bread, and drink it ... spending next few hours in a stupor close to death.

259 Blue laws are the alcohol sales restrictions?

Probably no one will see this but when my brother was stationed in Sumter, SC in the mid 1970's, no business with more than one employee was open on Sunday. When I was there in 1993 and again in 1999, the mall in town did not open until 1 PM, IIRC to give everyone the time to go to church.
