Sub-optimal is an immediate 1...Qh4? because of 2.f3! and the certain win has slipped away. So 1...Nf3 has to be played in preparation for what follows.

3.Resigns

There's no defense against 3...Qh2# unless you're a chess app and want to die tired, like mine does, e.g. 3.Bxf7+ Kxf7 4.Bh6 Rxh6 5.Qc4+ d5 6.Qxd5+ cxd5 7.b3 Qh2#

80 Since this is an open thread I have a little gripe about ice cream that I want to vent.

I started making ice cream a little while ago. I looked up the super-secret ways of doing it at home with things you have lying around (a lot of shaking of ice and stuff ... not worth the effort) and I bought a couple of actual ice cream makers. The ice cream makers made nice ice cream but the last time I went to make some I screwed up and wasn't able to use the ice cream maker (I let the mix freeze on the sides and the thing wouldn't turn ...) so I ended up just stirring the mix with a fork and throwing it in the freezer.

Guess what ... it was perfectly good ice cream! There's no need for any tools, no machines, no nothing. You just put sugar and vanilla (and whatever you want) into some cream/half and half, mix it with a fork and throw the stuff in the freezer. That's it. Seriously. It gets a few ice crystals in it, so it's totally creamy ... but it tastes no different and it is ice cream, as good as any. If you want to lessen the ice crystals just take it out of the freezer after an hour and mix it up some more with your fork.

After all this, I feel totlly ripped off by Big Ice Cream Machine and the idiots on youtube who go through all sorts of retarded (and strenuous) Rube Goldberg methods of making ice cream. They are all wrong. You don't need anything to make good ice cream - just a bowl and a friggin fork.

I had to get that off my chest. It really bugged the hell out of me.

No. My Rb2 first has problems if black moves Kg2. Black can advance the h pawn (since the bishop is stuck behind the rook). Your first move of getting the bishop out seems the key.

Iirc, someone criticized what Sasha & Malia wore to a Turkey pardon, and was fired.

As I tried to explain in the Thread Before the Gardening Thread, there is absolutely nothing wrong with businesses refusing service to anyone they don't like.

It's called freedom of choice, but unfortunately it was outlawed by the civil rights laws.

Now it seems that those laws are being selectively enforced. Imagine the firestorm if a customer wearing an Obama T-shirt was refused service in 2009. That restaurant would have been put out of business within 24 hours.

Call the DirecTV service number and when the robot asks what department you are trying to reach say "Cancellation!". This gets you directly to an account rep (or it used to back when I still paid these lowlife scum for their pathetic service).

Explain the problem, tell that Dish is having a special deal for new customers, and you are ready to cancel your DirecTV account because of this abuse. Tell them to double check the account records to see how often you have ever downloaded a movie. Also say that Dish is offering brand new top of the line equipment as part of the new customer deal. And be willing to cancel if you go this route.
