154 while Google is a SJW outfit and I was pissed off by this, the fact that it comes from wiki explains a lot. a couple of weeks ago, Brewers fans were infuriated when Angel Hernandez, the shittest ump in mlb, made some rotten calls that nearly cost the Crew a game.(he is suing MLB because he has never worked a WS and he claims, absurdly, that it's because mlb is bigoted against Hispanics. No, it's because he's shitty.). I went to his wiki page and someone had put in "Angel Hernandez should die." And it stayed up for at least an hour. for the record, I think Hernandez should be canned. I don't want him to die. But that's how easy it is to f around with wiki.

167 One of the unappreciated ironies of this idiotic slander, of course, is that the CA GOP is a laughable parody of the Beltway GOPe. Not every elected member (there are a few), but most.

Still think the surprisingly responsible and politically sensible rebellion of the Orange and SD County supervisors (voted to join the federal suit against CA's "sanctuary" law) is a flash in the pan. Sadly.

To put it in national terms, all but the extreme (i.e., normal) "fringe" of the CA GOP could be summed up as a "not who we are" party. Everyday experience and most surveys show voter attitudes on most hot-button issues (incl. mass illegal migration) are not much different than nationally. But there is zero-point-zero political entrepreneurship on display. Almost nobody even attempting to tap into all kinds of resentments and frustrations.

Investigators from the District of Columbia U.S. Attorney's Office recently interviewed former FBI director James Comey as part of a probe into whether his deputy, Andrew McCabe, broke the law by lying to federal agents - an indication the office is seriously considering whether McCabe should be charged with a crime, a person familiar with the matter said.

District of Columbia? No, no, no! They must have meant Utah. They must mean prosecutors from Utah!

I really wonder though - I think there is plenty of support for sane policies in many counties and districts, even some coastal ones - but the GOP is just so farcical it resembles a small/fringe party like Peace and Freedom or Green.

And the jungle primary, as Ace's liver reminds us, means that many voters literally have only Ds on the ballot.

I don't buy that it's as simple as demo changes, or the '86 amnesty. The Davis recall/Ahnuld election showed some desperation around real issues. And something seemed to "snap" just before the Obamination era.

The insidious problem is that when the government pays, a) everybody thinks he's entitled to an opinion on what others do, and b) after a while, the government - which inevitably will run healthcare badly, and at a deficit - will look for ways to save money. So they cut back, and cut back some more.

Soccer moms have obviously not figured this out, because the obvious place to cut expenditures is on healthcare for women, who are the major consumers of healthcare. (Cutting healthcare for 20-something guys doesn't save hardly anything.)

Ultimately, however, government bureaucrats look at their dire finances, and then cast baleful looks at elderly retirees (and others) who do not pay taxes, but are instead costly to keep alive. Next stop: vans with the exhaust routed back through the passenger compartment for those people. It's as logical a progression as night following day.

You should. They are the core of why Trump ran and the core of everything he is doing.

The only reason North Korea is at the table right now is because Trump turned the screws on China. And every other sanction he has placed, particularly those against Canada and Mexico, are all about trade with China at their core.

Everything that is going on right now is because Trump is upturning 50 years of foreign trade policy. This is why the uniparty hates him so much.

I'm sure I screwed it up somewhere but isn't there a song/hymnal/Bible verse about the road to Babylon and singing it? And redpill me but wasn't Babylon a bad thing for the folks of Jewish heritage?

Wikipedia is a great site if you wan to know how to do a latch hook stitch, or you're interested in Rankine cycle heat engines, but it's useless if you want to know something about Gamergate or the Rotherham grooming gangs.

Incorrect the Nazism line was added on the May 24th edit. And then it wasn't removed until the May 30th edit.

The May 31st edit you are talking about is a copycat. Notice that in that edit the Nazism appears as the last in the list. And there is also no mention of "green conservatism," as in the google display. But if you look at the May 24th edit, you will see that Nazism is listed first and green conservatism is included just like in the Google display.

303 JackStraw makes an excellent point we don't discuss much here - Trump's economics-based foreign policy assertiveness.

Separate from the China connection - one of the few situations that *isn't* directly linked to China - Trump exiting the Iran fiasco and implementing tough sanctions seems to be shaping up spectacularly well. Foreign investors, shippers, banks - all cutting back or ending business with Iran.

Turmoil inside Iran right now is receiving the now-normal black-out treatment from the "press" in the US. But things are not looking up if your vantage point is Qom. Truckers and taxi drivers and many merchants on strike. Currency collapsed. Trading partners and investors (even incl. Russia's Lukoil) backing away.

377 O/T

I don't know if you guys discussed it earlier but this latest "delay" has me officially giving up that anything significant will come out of these IG reports. This isn't the Manhattan Project in terms of complexity and Sessions and Horowitz are just jerking us around now. I hate being lied to which is why I want to burn down the Republican Party and this is just as bad.

Maybe I'm being overly impatient and something will come it but after assholes like Gowdy and Little Marco make high exposure imbeciles out of themselves, they're probably just the advance troops of the rest of the GOP scum who will take further advantage of more and more delays until the gladhanding fucks just call the whole thing off. My fantasy right now is to have little Jeff Sessions's garden gnome head in a vice as I knock his fucking teeth down his throat. I have to rely on things like that to keep from losing it.

Maybe justice will be done and, if so to whatever extent, great but I've invested enough time in thinking about this already and it's time to divert that to more productive things. DJT has already done great things but he's only one man against an entrenched deep state.

But I'll get a warm feeling if Solomon's evidence (and, presumably, much more to be developed over the next year) has the WH senior circle (McDonough, Rice, et al) indelibly splashed with all kinds of culpability. Might be enough to dramatically tarnish the intern's "legacy" (further) for anyone with two synapses to rub together .....

Bismarck initiated the German welfare state long before Hitler did, although Hitler significantly expanded it. There is nothing in German political DNA (or the political DNA of Euros in general) that serves as a counterweight to the expansion of the welfare state. You'd think that the Nazi era would have provided them with a potent example of what happens when the state gets too powerful, but they retain this idea that that Big Government can be good. I think it's a holdover from the feudal era - the good kings and aristocrats will take care of us.

451 Sometimes wiki vandalism can be funny. I still giggle at this from Alan Turing's page:

On 8 June 1954, his cleaner found him dead; the previous day, he had died of massive burns caused by trying to degay himself with a laser. The laser itself was never tested for contamination, but a post-mortem established that it was the cause of death. ... Others suggest that Turing was re-enacting a scene from 'Goldfinger', his favourite Bond film.

I'm reminded of way back when I'd read Slashdot and people would post copypasta of entire articles into the comment section but change a single line somewhere to something completely absurd.

452 >>JS, I hope to be surprised but notwithstanding how 1) basically not very bright, and 2) arrogant/overconfident these vermin were, I still don't expect we'll ever get hard evidence that the intern knew about/approved what will hopefully be found to be criminal acts by the FBI and IC.

We've come a long way in since the Director of the FBI was fired. This was after the acting Director Attorney General was fired. Then The Deputy Director of the FBI was fired followed by close to 10 other senior people in the DOJ. Most who are cooperating in prosecutions.

If the roles were reversed and this all happened under a Republican administration we would be under a media barrage of a constitutional crisis and we would be killing our side. But because it happened under a Democrat administration people and the media is silent, duh, people are acting like it's nothing and nothing every happens.

If evidence comes out tomorrow that shows this goes to the White House and people don't lose their shit then I can't say I blame anyone but us for nothing happening. These guys work for us and if we don't care why should they?

If you're using the AMZN credit card, cash the points in for invoice credit instead of spending them directly. If you spend them directly, it reduces the order cost, which is nice, but if you cash them in, then spend Primitive Earth Dollars, you still get the full value back AND, since you get more points on the new purchase. Nationalism! That's it!

As I've pointed out before, it's an enduring mystery to Germans (and now other Euros) that Norwegian, Swedish, Latvian, Bulgarian, Polish, French, Spanish, British, Belgian, Dutch, Danish, Portuguese, Hungarian, Romanian, Russian, Ukrainian, Greek, Yugoslav, or even (arguably) Italian nationalism somehow didn't ignite a continental slaughter that killed tens of millions.

Only *German* nationalism (wedded to an insane and extreme ideology) did that.

463 Was the operation against Page, Papadapoulos, Trump et alia in fact legitimate counterintelligence?

There is no specific law about this; the legalities are defined mainly by an Executive order from (ha!) Jimmy Carter:

4-202. Counterintelligence means information gathered and activities conducted
to protect against espionage and other clandestine intelligence activities,
sabotage, international terrorist activities or assassinations conducted for or
on behalf of foreign powers, organizations or persons, but not including
personnel, physical, document, or communications security programs.

It means that absent evidence of Russian hacking, which has not been presented or sought, there was no predicate for any counterintelligence activity under the (still valid) Carter rules.

A lot of people who don't live in diverse areas might not realize that cockfighting was dying out around the 80s. Most of us in the South knew some old folks who might dabble in it, but it was dwindling away to nothing. Easier to find an illegal video poker machine than a cockfighting ring.

Then something changed in the early 90s or so, and now it's all over the place again, along with tuberculosis and whooping cough. If only we knew what happened in the early 90s that was heavily encouraged over the last decade then maybe we could solve this puzzle.

If it's the AMZN Chase Visa, log in to to the Chase website, find the rewards line, and click 'redeem', I think. You can apply the full value as an invoice credit.

Then if you use the card for the purchase, you don't get the credit applied to the cart, but since the price of the purchase is higher, you get the 6% on a higher amount. Like i said, it's not intuitive (especially if some asshole tries to say cute things like "Primitive Earth Dollars"...), but it does work out to a slightly higher payoff.

512 Circus Peanuts were, and remain, a mystery
Posted by: rhomboid at May 31, 2018 09:49 PM (QDnY+)

I lack the organ to properly utilize circus peanuts.

Specifically, I want a second dead-end stomach that I can cram full of circus peanuts so when I'm in a meeting and someone asks, "hogmartin, do you have any input on this?" I can act like I'm about to speak and then spew about six pounds of slightly used circus peanuts across the conference table.

Anyhow, past my bedtime, have a good night y'all cats and kittens. Enjoy the ONT.

513 BREAKING: James Comey interviewed by federal Prosecutors as they investigate whether McCabe should be charged - WaPo
Posted by: Tami at May 31, 2018 08:15 PM (Enq6K)

And when will McCabe be interviewed to talk about the Comey Obstruction of Justice charge?
Posted by: Don Q. at May 31, 2018 08:18 PM

I'm surprised they don't have McCabe and Comey interviewing each other.

To save time, prosecutors could steal the speed dating idea, make it speed interviewing. Set up a prosecutor at each table, get 3 minutes with each weasel, then the weasels change chairs and talk to a different prosecutor. Maybe they could wrap this f*cker up before we all die of old age.

514 Just a little perspective here. By June 11th, 1943 the US and British forces finished wiping out the Nazis in North Africa and the tide was turned in the Pacific and Atlantic.

In a similar amount of time in what could arguably be called a coup attempt in the United States, some people got fired and some got demoted.

Testify! Have a book/manual of theirs that I found of all places at Lowes back in like 2011. Tons of variations. Makes a damn fine cheesecake.

520 Sometimes wiki vandalism can be funny.

Died in 1954. Goldfinger released in 1964. Let's see...carry the 7...

541 The GOP was stunningly silent in the face of all sorts of abuses by the Bambi Administration throughout the Summer of 2009 and beyond. We had no voice. I think we had Glenn Beck (ugh) and that was about it.

Compare to the full scale vociferous D reaction against comparatively benign Trump. I noted it at the time, and many on our side just did not believe it was an issue, or thought because we had Michelle Bachmann or whatever it was plenty of a fight we were putting up.

And here they are mostly silent when we need them again. Commie pricks in GOP drag.

That's where some discipline from the leadership (Ryan and McConnell) would help. Call in every member and explain...no demand...that if they are within 100 yards of a microphone and camera they talk about nothing but this un-American, un-constitutional attempt to overthrow the legitimate government of the United States. Isn't this what every Democrat does all the time, regardless of the question or the venue? Make the media cover our side by talking about nothing else. And tell any member unwilling to participate that they won't get a red cent for their re-election campaign. It's called hardball and the Democrats are masters at it.

But of course that would take some...er...what's that word I'm looking for....Oh yeah, Leadership. And some spine.

Let's turn it over to a brewer by the name of Sam Adams:

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms.
