Jim "Money Shot" Acosta: I Am Deeply Upset That the President Is Wasting His Time Meeting With Celebrities

Am I dreaming?

Did we not just end eight years of Celebrity Presidency? Did Obama not have a celebrity confab every other week?

RedSteeze has just some of the many, many pictures and selfies of Obama meeting with Very Important Celebrities.

Maybe Acosta is just jealous that another camera-horny bimbo with blowjob lips is getting attention.

1 From the AoS front page:

"McCabe Reportedly Drafted Memo on Comey Firing."

"How an Eric Holder Memo from 2012 Will Guide Mueller Through the Midterms."

This, is addition to multiple previous news cycles concerning "memos."

What is it with the sudden supremacy of memos? What makes a "memo" more powerful and significant than a mere "note to oneself" or a shopping list?

Why do "memos" now possess such immense political power? From whence do they gain their legal significance?

Because it seems to me that we now live in a memocracy.

In my world, memos from on high aren't just a shopping list. They give the official stance of the office. They give instructions on what employees are to do in certain circumstances. They contain legal advice.

Memos in the legal and government world are very important.

93 BTW horde, deep thought for the day.

It is of the ironies of all damn ironies that #pussygate likely saved Trump. If that hadn't dropped, and the Dems hadn't gone all #metoo with Trump with their complete narrative scripted and ready to go (hey, where did all those womyn go who lined up to accuse Trump of shit that they had NEVER even whispered about??), the Dems would have pushed the "muh Russia" shit endlessly.

The powers that be always thought Killary was a lock, and after #pussygate 100$ confirmed. That is why they didn't see the need to go "muh Russia". That is why we only heard hints about their deep state fuckery.

The deep state will not take that chance again. They will pull out all the stops in 2020. Hence my warning on pizza face Kasich.

292 But the derangement of the Dems, given the situation, doesn't actually "help" the country, in all likelihood.

Sure - you get larger GOP majorities in the Congress, perhaps a few more governors and state houses (though there's not that much upside left on that front).

But absent a fairly radical change in the way the GOP governs ...... um, well, you do the math.

Every notch towards insanity the Dems move, the GOP moves one notch closer to the "center" (i.e. useless, dangerous, statist, empty-suited self-promotion with zero policy ambitions). Because they can. When "wow, look at our opponents, they're nuts!" is your only "campaign theme", you've arrived at the perfect Boehner/Ryan/Mitch/Beltway GOP spot: you let elections "come to you", you avoid standing for anything, and you sure as hell don't work hard to make real, critical changes.

Years later, they said--again very authoritatively--if you SEE 3% growth, thank Obama.

I would revise my objection to celebrities having an opportunity to have the ear of the President if they are actually running and funding an organization of perceived importance rather that just having a stated cause. Unfortunately most of these organizations are left leaning though some are bipartisan.

452 Got attacked by some sort of snake in my garage. Not sure why he was in my garage in the first place but he was laying beside my truck. I pushed him out into the driveway three separate times with a broom but he kept coming back.

455 427 Curmudgeon, yes, but the gigantic bloodletting *inside* the GOP some of us have been desperately hoping for since Trump was elected is nowhere in sight.

Might be that the electorate will revolt on the presidential level, but is still self-destructively distracted and/or lazy at all levels below that.

And don't forget that many "tea party" types who *were* actual upstarts ...... basically blended in and became useless, very quickly, in DC. Americans are busy, everything in our history and circumstances makes it unlikely they will vote with the diligence, and persistence, for "radical" change that apparently will be required to nudge the ship in a truly different direction.
Posted by: rhomboid at May 31, 2018 03:23 PM (QDnY+)

I hate to use this phrase, but bloodletting is "not who we are...." :-D

Even past GOP infights, like Goldwater vs. Rockefeller, or Taft vs. Dewey, were relatively low-key. Which unfortunately masked their seriousness.

One refreshing thing about reading history: as dismayed as I get about the GOPee, it *isn't* new. Rockefeller Republicans? Mee-too-ers? Dimestore New Dealers? Eastern Establishment? Terms of the past describing an intraparty GOP situation that is very much like the present.

indeed. and in one of the "meet the builders" segments, it turned out he had a paraplegic cat and had built a box with wheels and a couple of buttons ("go forward", "go backwards and turn") for the cat. there was video of the cat driving the box around the house.

pretty sure that was grant.

I am not pro-celebrity, just anti-hypocrisy. Obama loved partnering with celebrities to promote his - and their - issues. In fact, he excelled at getting them to overtly (PSAs) a*and* covertly (written into tv storylines) push his agenda.

Even when a celebrity does have a non-profit org for their per cause it may be a sham (see Leo DiCaprio's climate charge non-profit).

468 172 I think Himmler and Heydrich sported what people might mean by "Nazi haircut". Though it may have been just fashion/style at the time. Looking at documentaries and film footage of the Wehrmacht on the eastern front, that haircut was common.

When head lice ruled the day military recruits got the skin head haircut. Sidewalls remained afterward.
