The Morning Report 5/25/18

scurry.jpg

Good morning kids. The weekend is here and we have two stories in the lead the broke yesterday. First, there was an apparent terrorist attack at an Indian restaurant in Toronto when an IED exploded and injured 15 people. Two suspects are still on the loose. Second, a good guy with a gun shot and killed a would-be mass shooter at an Oklahoma City restaurant after opening fire on patrons. So far, two are reported to have been wounded but there were no fatalities. Lord knows the Media is going to bury these stories, especially the latter, so stay tuned here.

Moving right along, it is now becoming crystal clear to all that have eyes to see and a brain not clouded by knee-jerk Leftist indoctrination and propaganda that ex-President Obama and his acolytes utterly violated their oaths and used the instrumentalities of law enforcement and national security to engineer a plot to spy on the Trump campaign to derail his candidacy, then destroy his presidency in order to both preserve Obama's legacy and now, to save their collective asses from prosecution (if it ever comes to that). What is amazing to see, albeit not really surprising I guess, is that the entire Democrat-Media complex is contorting itself into such wild, twisted "Altered States"-esque contortions that the President is guilty of conspiring with Russia to steal the 2016 elections. Witness what Eric Swalwell spewed out on Anderson Poofter's broadcast (linked below), or the oleaginous bipedal turd Jerrold Nadler accusing PDT and Nunes of breaking federal law by outing the name of the "informant" already revealed by the Slimes and the Compost, or what that slug Al Green is ranting about. What was once infuriating is now risible and indeed I just laugh at it. This pull quote from the Soros piece characterizes it quite well:

...A year later, it is the Special Counsel, his dream team of special investigators, the FBI, Hillary Clinton, and the Obama Administration who are twisting in the wind. They have, in the process of finding no serious crimes in the Trump camp, revealed several serious crimes of their own. And unless I'm seriously mistaken, we have now gone through seven long rounds, the left has all but punched itself out in the heat, and Trump, a fan and friend of Muhammad Ali, is about to come off the ropes swinging.

Unless, of course, there's a great blue wave, or a tsunami, or a surging river, or a waterfall, or a leaky faucet getting ready to break and sweep away the whole country away with it.

Go ahead, believe it - with all your heart - and repeat it to anyone who will listen, and as often as you can. It is, after all, the secret of progressive success.

As we move along to the rest of the links, you will see that there are several stories, especially in the Politics category that underscore the Left's rage as the walls cave in on them. First though, it turns out the Capitol Police gave crucial evidence in the Democrat Hacking scandal to the lawyer for the Awan's instead of giving it to the prosecutors. Well done, boys. You have a promising future in the Broward County Sheriff's Dept.

Speaking of which, it turns out that years before the Parkland shooting, the Broward Coward covered up sexual assault allegations against Sheriff Israel's son. Ah yes, the glories of an untouchable public pension. And our friend, Little Shitller the Camera Hogg is threatening to launch a boycott of Publix unless they fork over $1 million and publicly renounce the NRA. If I were the chairman of Publix, I'd serve him with a $100 million lawsuit for tortious interference.

Moving back an amendment, Mark Levin reminds us of how Obama abused the press (not that he had to really since they were eager to rhetorically [or otherwise] fellate him), Daniel Greenfield on the real collusion between the Deep State and the Media and finally, Elon Musk, whose entrepreneurial savvy is in direct proportion to his access to the public trough, has the perfect name for his journalist rating site. And then there's news that Amazon is partnering with law enforcement to create AI facial recognition technology. Considering the likes of Mueller, Comey as well as Scott Israel, doesn't that just make you feel all warm and fuzzy.

On the international front, despite the President nixing the summit with Whoa, Fat!, the chunk has now announced that he is still open to meeting with PDT. No matter; the Dems, Media and Cuck-servatives are still blaming PDT. Meanwhile, Mike Pompeo teed off on Mark Udall (D)-Ickweed for asking about the President's tax returns during a Foreign Relations Committee meeting. What a f***ing jerk! But it is illustrative that the Democrats have absolutely nothing to run on and that Pompeo and hopefully others in the administration are following the President's lead in dealing with these clowns.

From hither and yon, Rachel Dolezal of stolen pallor fame is in hot water for running a welfare fraud scheme (don't even go there, people), the movie "Show Dogs" was, er, pulled from the theaters because of handlers handling K-9 junk on screen, and lastly the President issued an official pardon of legendary black heavyweight Jack Johnson. No news from the Congressional Black Caucasians or the NAACP. Obama must've been napping from that one.

Anyway, links from around the world, across the nation and up your street. Have a better one and remain blessed.

36 Kim Strassel has a great editorial today in the WSJ on "The Real Constitutional Crisis", which she understandably believes is the absolute contempt the DOJ has for Congress' oversight role.

She names names and she details which Congressional committees are most aggrieved but, in the end, it adds up to a Justice Department that acts like a fourth branch of government and one self-righteously superior to all others. Not surprising, when you consider our judges attitudes, but still, disgusting and highly aggravating.

50 I read an absolutely Orwellian piece on "global warming/climate change" in the local paper this morning. It came from the Miami Herald. It is about hurricanes and how GW will affect them and make them stronger and have more rain in the future and cause sea levels to rise 3-5 foot by 2100.

They slipped this gem of a paragraph into the middle of the article:

"The team didn't look at how these conditions would affect the creation of hurricanes, only how they'd have changed past storms. Scientists generally believe that climate change won't cause extra storms, if anything there might be slightly fewer."

George Orwell would be standing and applauding their efforts at re-writing history if he were alive today.

58 The Gas Price complaints are almost comical, if they weren't so sad - first, yes canceling the Iran deal has some effect. (But does that mean that we should go ahead and allow Iran to develop nuclear missiles just to shave a few points per gallon off our bill?) But in reality, the bulk of the price rise is being driven by the ongoing collapse of Socialism in Venezuela, and the resulting total collapse of the Venezuelan oil industry. The media is working extra hard to ignore that one, but the markets sure aren't ignoring it.

75 I almost feel sorry for Whoa Fat. Think how disconcerting things must be for him now. For years he's known that he could pull his stupid stunts and whoever the American president was would just offer him more money. He could threaten to walk away, and they'd offer him more money. He could lie and cheat and insult them and they'd offer him more money. He could set off rockets and they'd offer him more money. It was all great fun for him, and so very, very predictable.

But now, Trump. He won't play the game the way the other presidents did. Trump calls Fattie's bluffs and tells him to quit dicking around.

Fat is like a spoiled-brat kid who's been twisting his dad's idiot girlfriends around his finger (and giggling to himself about how pathetically easy they are to manipulate), but then one day dad comes home and catches him at it and now the kid has to deal with a real man and it's a whole other ballgame . . . .

76 HBO's McCain documentary was conceived of and greenlit almost immediately after his tumor was disclosed. No one is speaking for McCain - the Palin regrets, etc. are all on tape. And doesn't this just explain a lot:

The documentary lingers over that exceptional moment to powerful effect. It follows McCain as he received a standing ovation entering the Senate chamber. Then it pans in as, later that night, he stood in front of his stony-faced colleagues, held out his right arm for what seems an aeon, then let his thumb drop to confine the Republican bill to the dustbin of history.

There were audible gasps on that occasion too.

He was doing this for the documentary cameras. What a tool!

He always denied it, but the granddaughter was murdered by her boyfriend a few years ago and the boyfriend wanted to testify about their affair in his criminal case. He wasn't allowed to say much, but it sure sounded like all the rumors had been true. And Freeman had purchased the girl a very expensive apartment in NYC and was supporting her. The MSM kept trying to distance Freeman from the girl by calling her his "step- granddaughter" or "his ex-wife's granddaughter" or whatever, but she was his granddaughter, and they were probably just trying to make the creepy sexual relationship between them seem more acceptable.

Seriously, in theory, coal and oil should be perpetually renewable as plant an animal material are constantly dying and decomposing. Not only during the triassic, jurassic and cretaceous periods.

Of course we can consume at a faster rate but still, the world's oil reserves are at least 500 years's worth.

Going way back to when Hillary got the child rapist off the rape charges (and laughed about it) ... she was allowed to take the underwear evidence out to some expert (she "forgets" who that was) ... and claims the forensic guy cut out the piece with the semen for analysis and didn't put it back. So the evidence was (conveniently) gone.

Sure, forensic specialists would always do that, cuz they have no training. /s What fits perfectly with the Hillary BleachBit process, is Hillary took the underwear evidence and removed the smoking gun part, then she returned it with that missing. (wiped, like with a cloth).

Now that Hillary worked her way to the big leagues of crime, she has dirty cops that help her cover up and destroy evidence.

They always follow the same format: First step, Assume that Climate Change!!!! is going to happen, with no explanation. Second, Assume that the result of this Assumed Climate Change is going to be something dramatic. Again, no explanation, simply assume it. Third, after those two assumptions are made, spend the entire story wailing about "Look at this Bad Thing! It is Really Really Bad!!! Miami has always flooded! Miami Beach goes underwater fairly often. Brickell Avenue does too. The Grove is a little safer, because there is some "high ground", once you get south of the "downtown" area, going south along Main Hwy.

But it all floods. It has always flooded. Because it is barely above sea level.

I'm going to check and see if there's any interest in this idea in the moron/ette community over the next week or so.

I've been thinking of this for about a month.

Would any of you be interested in an AOS-centric gab chatroom dedicated to day trading, swing trading and stocks in general?

I've been learning about day/swing trading over the last few months and test driven a few different chat rooms.

I believe a moron/ette trading chatroom would be a YUGE positive asset for everyone involved as we have a huge range of people in various professions who's general knowledge would be useful in straining away the dross and finding the gold.

Anyway, if interested...speak up and next week I'll gather a list of interested folk and see if Ace wishes or doesn't wish for this to be under the AoS moniker.

I'll mention this a few times in various threads at various times.

    Thanks!

219 Damn, looks like the Left can't get enough Palin hatred. My opinion of her has shifted, but the hatred that she inspired, the sheer ugliness of the way she was treated in 2008, is still stunning.

    From the McCain documentary:

On 29 August 2008 McCain stood in front of a large crowd in Dayton, Ohio, and introduced "the next vice-president of the United States, Governor Sarah Palin of the great state of Alaska".

The HBO documentary lingers over this moment as well, zooming in on the man in what must have been a singularly lonely instance.

The scene is terrible to behold. There he stands, his face locked in an unconvincing smile, like a child desperately feigning delight as he opens an unwanted birthday present.

"I don't think he could have known it at the time," the New York Times columnist David Brooks tells the Kunhardts. "But he took a disease that was running through the Republican party --- anti-intellectualism, disrespect for facts --- and he put it right at the center of the party."

I don't know? Maybe oil is not Dinosaur Wine? "

I looked into that a while back (iirc, the main theorist behind this is a man named Gold) and after pondering this for year, I think it's very unlikely for oil (too complicated chemically) but possible for nat gas (very simple chemical formula) One observation supporting this is that the deeper one drills, the more likely one is to find natural gas reservoirs, rather than oil bearing formations.

But what fracking has shown us is that the regions we already know about are literally saturated with oil, and our main problem has been that our production methods are so primitive. And then there's the areas we have intentionally ignored - most think that opening ANWR in Alaska could equal (at least) current production off the North Slope, and if Mexico ever got its economic act together (HA!!!) northeastern Mexico could probably produce as much oil as Texas has produced over the last 100 years - the geology isn't that different.

Point is, far from running out of oil, we have barely scratched the surface in developing what we already know is there.

Think about the numbers. Plants have always outnumbered animals. So it makes sense that there are huge coal reserves.

But oil from dinosaurs? How many animals had to have lived and died to create vast pools of oil, considering the amount of oil we have used in the last 100 years sometimes at the rates of drunken sailors on shore leave.

259 But oil from dinosaurs? How many animals had to have lived and died to create vast pools of oil, considering the amount of oil we have used in the last 100 years sometimes at the rates of drunken sailors on shore leave."

Oil is just liquid coal, basically. They come from the same sources. The reason for the dinosaur claim arose from the geological observation that most of the really prolific source formations for oil production around the world tend to be either jurassic or cretaceous. But even in the jurassic and cretaceous periods, the bulk of the organic material is from plants, not animals.

The great coal beds mostly come from the carboniferous period, in which plant growth was so lush that most of the onshore and near-shore surface of the earth ended up covered with hundreds and hundreds of feet of decayed plant material. Amazing to think about. (Imagine a 100 million year long growing season, warm and humid, with no winters ever)

It's amazing how the system is arranged in order to NOT find certain types of criminal activity.

Case in point is our own Light rail system.

Basically it runs in a north to south direction, starting in the affluent northern area of Baltimore county, passes through the length of the city, and terminates below the city, after passing through the economically depressed southern area of the city, including the "Projects"

I sometimes take the Light rail the entire length down to BWI airport, or back, and have noticed an amazing phenomena. Light rail ticket enforcement officers never seem to ride the stretch between the depressed areas into the city proper. But sure as shitting, as soon as you start heading between the city, and the more affluent sectors, here comes Cathy Conductor looking for fair jumpers. Of course, at that point, the demographics and passenger make up has shifted significantly, and now consists of individuals who are less impacted by the cost of purchasing a ticket, and as such are more likely than not to have indeed purchased one.

277 I'd heard that about the "dry holes" filling years later from some geologist guys in the 90's. But iirc their theory was that there was a lot of other oil, just not in the (relatively) easily tapped places. So when they drained the large finds, it would leave a void that could slowly refill by "seepage".

If they have to go too deep it starts to take more energy to pull it up than it is worth. In any case, the refinery shortage and various Green BS seems to be the real problem, which is a manufactured crisis, probably supported by "the industry".

That was an interesting article. Thanks. I agree with the person commenting after it who said they admired Dr. Gallagher for his willingness to out his name on record for believing in demonic possession. Of course, reading the comments is a lesson in patience. "Cultures that do not believe in demonic possession don't experience it." This commentator speaks for all cultures?!! And anyway, how can an encephalitic illness cause people to be able to speak in a language which they don't know? Of course, there are physical reasons for some of this, but I think there is demonic attacks and posessions

It would seem to me that demonic possession is different than demonic attacks. Someone who was declared a Saint (Padre Pio) was buffeted and bruised by invisible forces and observers saw it happened and Padre Pio wasn't doing it to himself.

Sounds like an interesting book that doctor wrote.

291 Most articles on the new GPDR rules in Europe have focused on news access and news data rules. But, to me, the far more interesting part is on consumer data. It has always pissed me off the credit companies collect data on citizens and have no liability to speak of for its accuracy or safekeeping. Beyond some fig leaf measures, they basically make it your own responsibility to make sure they keep your data accurate and safe. GPDR may or may not be the right approach to changing these rules, but it will be worth watching!

Companies will be required under the GDPR to report data breaches within
several days. In addition, companies will often need to obtain users' consent to process their personal information. Customers will have the
right to see what data companies hold on them and can request for some
to be deleted. Companies are responsible for showing they are complying
    with obligations.

305 That said, the USA does have by far the biggest oil reserves in the world."

Possibly - most people have no idea what a squishy word "reserves" is, and how it has been constantly manipulated for political and financial reasons, by everybody.

Theoretical reserves - more properly called oil resources, the total amount of oil that actually exists. A very hazy number, and probably very large.

Unproven reserves - Some exploration work has been done, and there's a sound belief that these could be developed if the economic situation was right. A smaller number than theoretical, but a bigger number than...

Proven reserves - an exploration plan has been implemented, wells have been drilled, production is ongoing and there is solid evidence that this number is real. Still, even this number goes up and down depending on nothing more than the economic climate at any particular time.

It isn't possible to talk seriously about Reserves without first defining what kind of reserves one wishes to talk about. All the people who have always wailed about "Oil Reserves are Dropping!!" restrict their discussions to Proved Reserves only, which depend on economics as much as anything. and they ignore the other, broader categories, which is an old old trick.

cost upwards of $50,000, and customers ordering today won't qualify for
the full $7,500 federal tax credit. This means the final price is well
    into BMW/Mercedes territory."

And that doesn't even count the $3K+ you'll need to pay to install the charger to take advantage of the quick charge capabilities. Matter of fact, I bet you have to pay Tesla extra to unlock that option, too.

"Show Dogs" Pulled from Theaters Over Inappropriate Dog Genital Groping Scenes

I am not sure what the controversy is or the circumstances of the scenes in question.

What I do know is that because AKC dog shows are in essence an evaluation of livestock, the exhibits have to be intact, that is, have all their breeding equipment. Males have to have two descended testicles of normal size. Judges always check for this by reaching under the tail and feeling for them. Is this what's being objected to?

Once someone wanted to show a monorchid (one ball) dog and had a Neuticle put surgically put in. Comes the day of the show and the dog goes into the ring. Unbeknownst to him, the missing testicle had descended. The judge (legend has it as Anne Rogers Clark) reached down, felt and bellowed, "My God! He's got three of them!"

350 The lefties (ie, the MSM) are glorying in what they are patronizingly describing as "Trump's failure" in North Korea. Astounding.

First, on patriotic grounds, you'd expect some minimal cheering for the home team, but you'd be wrong. Second, on self-interest grounds, you'd hope people would be pulling for a denuclearized North Korea and for peace in the Korean peninsula. Read a little history on that war, MSM, and you'll really get interested in peace. Thirdly, basic intelligence (if not a year of Trump experience) should tell you these negotiations will always have ups and downs. This thing ain't over yet.

Posted by: Huck Follywood, Vigilance Committee supporter at May 25, 2018 09:18 AM (rBnYq)

351 So when they drained the large finds, it would leave a void that could slowly refill by "seepage".

One of the fundamental characteristics of any reservoir is porosity - how much void space is there between the grains making up the rock, which allows fluid movement? Sandstones and carbonates (limestones, chalks) have good porosity and so make up the bulk of the producing formations. Shales, on the other hand, have terrible porosity.

The genius of Fracking is that it lets oil rich shales produce as though they had the porosity of a sandstone. That's the trick. The shales have always been there, but they could never produce before now.

Also, a production problem that happens regularly - salt water flows more easily through rock than oil does, and when both salt water and oil are present in a formation (and they usually are) then pulling the well too hard can result in the salt water taking over all the pathways, and oil production stops. That's a lot of time what is going on when it is said that a well has been killed. Sometimes a well like this can sit for years, levels can even out down in the formation, and at some point in the future oil production, at a reduced rate, can start again.

The implication seemed to be that kids themselves, and not just the show dogs, should let (presumably Hollywood power brokers) themselves be "examined" by adults.

evaluation of livestock, the exhibits have to be intact, that is, have
all their breeding equipment. Males have to have two descended

I think the objection is about it being mined for comedy in a kids movie.

Of course, Hollywood does inappropriate stuff all the time in kid movies, largely because its run by soulless permissives who have no idea of propriety, and certainly no talent to do things more complex or creative.

"4.5 to 6 hours. Don't know the distance. Don't care. Just know it'll take you about 4.5 to 6 hours".

Gas in this country is relatively cheap, cheaper than milk a lot of the time. It is hard to be impressed by an electric car that is fast. We have had fast cars for many decades. Why would I spend so much more money for something that really doesn't make much difference?

451 But the real question is: The average peice of sheetrock 4x8x1/2 is 52 lbs. How many sheets can I haul to a jobsite in my spanking new Tesla.???

On the roof of a Model S? As many as on any other car...

The Teslas are actually very well engineered, but Elon had never done large-scale manufacturing, the Model S and X are comparatively low-volume items and even there Tesla changed around their production facilities in big ways three times in the first couple years.

The Model 3 is Tesla's higgledy-piggledy way of doing things coming back to roost, making short-term decisions with long-term implications. The first of those was manufacturing in California. It was clearly the wrong long-term choice but they had Jerry stuffing taxpayer money in their pockets so they took him up on it.

Now, they have to ship Model 3s or the capital pipeline dries up, but their super-duper automated production has never worked. So they've been hiring assembly labor at a huge rate, but this is the Bay Area, so it's costing them a fortune and attracting all kinds of attention from unions and state regulators.

Their current approach to production is unsustainable, I wouldn't be surprised if they were losing thousands on every Model 3 they're shipping right now. But, hey, they're making it up in volume.

Around here you can't swing a Green without hitting a Model 3, they're getting them out the door, the only question is whether the company can get the production process under control.

    Dear Mr. fixerupper,

Thank you for contacting AoSHQ Support, Tesla Division.

As you would have known, had you perused the Tesla website, "The Model S is not equipped with a spare tire. Spare tires add weight which reduces range."

However, we realize this would be akin to reading the content and existing comments before commenting, and thus the reason for our (The AoSHQ Support Desk) existance, and we are happy to assist you.

Adding sheets of sheetrock to your Tesla add weight which reduces range. Also, adding rolls of tape, or buckets of mud add weight, which reduces range.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of further assistance.

471 Okay, I commute 120 miles a day round trip. That's why I drive a Prius, and yes I have testicles dammit, I just checked and everything.

I would love to have an electric for that trip. BUT, nothing short of a Tesla or a Chevy Bolt would do; since my employer doesn't have a recharging station I would have to do all my charging at home. What's more, just from my experience with the Prius's battery I know that cold temperatures noticeably diminish the efficiency of the battery.

So, at bare minimum I'm shelling out 40K for the Chevy or 50K for the Tesla. We're just not there yet. Hybrid will be the way for a while, at least until we get faster recharging and longer battery life.

483 IMHO, you guys are wrong about Elon Musk. I don't argue that he is taking advantage of government subsidies; it's free money, of course he'll take it. But when the subsidies dry up on Tesla cars, he's not going to fold his tent and move on to some other scam... Tesla is going to keep selling cars, at a profit, without the subsidies.

SpaceX is already a fantastic success. NASA would never, never, NEVER have done anything that would get launch prices down. SpaceX has developed reusable rockets that are flying. The cost of access to space will drop a lot once SpaceX starts aggressively reusing rockets; they have been tentative about it so far, testing the rockets to make sure they won't explode or something. Once it's clear that the technology works and they start flying each rocket ten times or more, it will be a YUGE cost reduction.

In short, SpaceX planned for the future. They built the technology and infrastructure for space launches to become boring, every-day events.

Likewise, Tesla has been losing money because they have been building infrastructure. To get the cost of batteries down, they built their own battery factory, the biggest in the world. They built a heavily automated production line to get costs down for the Model 3. And, so that their cars wouldn't suck, they developed a fast-charging technology (Tesla Supercharger) and built out a network so that no matter where you want to go, you can get there. And the cars have enough battery life to go for hours, and then the charge is fast enough it can happen while you are eating a meal. These are the first electric cars that can be your only car even if you drive long distances.

Tesla is poised to make a 25% margin on the Model 3. GM sells the Bolt for about $35,000 and loses $9,000 per car, which is why they only make about 25,000 per year. GM wouldn't be making the Bolt at all without government money. I won't think GM is serous about electric cars unless I see GM investing in a battery factory.

A competitor to Tesla said that the Tesla Semi "breaks the laws of physics" or in other words that Tesla was lying about what it can do. No, it's just that Tesla has the best battery technology in the industry, and their own factory so they can afford to stuff a lot of them into a Semi.

In the third quarter, Tesla will ship enough cars that the electric car tax breaks on Tesla cars will start the process of ending. (The tax breaks don't end instantly, they wind down over a year.) When the tax breaks are gone, Tesla will still be selling cars at a profit. Right now they are selling "loaded" Model 3 cars to make maximum money (and they are up-front about that) but within a year they will start shipping the standard-range car that actually can be bought for $35,000. From what I have read, a Model 3 is actually more fun to drive than its competitors (which include BMW 3-series cars) and any Telsa car should cost a lot less to operate (cost of repairs plus cost of fuel) than similar gasoline or diesel cars. Even if you think Musk takes too much money from the government, you have to admit that his companies are doing things, not just squandering the money like Solyndra or something.

I am a "climate denier" to use the loaded term. I don't think Musk is saving the planet with electric cars. But I don't like the pollution from internal combustion cars, and I think we should save the oil for things like airplanes that need the energy density.
