I actually have British preserving books that suggest it and show how to do it.
Grandma (my Grandma no Little Red's) used parafin for the same reason - but that was too advanced for my British canning book.
Two of the main methods were, with sugary stuff, to cook it hot, sterilize the crock and tie paper on the top, and that will mostly keep it good for a while. The other way was to cook meats in lots of fat, and jug the meats covered with the fats. It makes a decent seal and won't go rancid if kept cool for weeks if you are lucky.
Anyhow, that paper covered crock is fascinating to me, it is like seeing someone use a lateen sail on a nearby river or someone plowing with a team of horses.

I've said before that I believe the South will be lost in twelve to fifteen years and that there is absolutely nothing we can do about it. That said, I wonder if the left will ultimately help us. It might be our only hope. They've turned the dial up to 11 way too quickly, and that might turn off a lot of voters in what remains a center-right country. A center-right country full of ignorant people, but still people who can figure out what's best for them and their kids after being hit over the head with what's bad a few times.
For example, that (D) lady in the Georgia governor race is apparently batsh*t crazy, and that's why she won the (D) primary. The "moderate" one wasn't socialist enough.
Modern (D)s repelling "moderate" (D)s + a couple of SCOTUS picks might buy us a bit of time to get things back on track.

I picked up the Land Rover and Lincoln Navigator I bought on a online auction the other day.
The Land Rover is at the repair shop being checked for what I think is either an exhaust leak or stuck valve. Other than that, it drives nice.
My Navigator drives like brand new, but needs a few things. I'll put a new set tires on and change the headlights for sparkling clear new ones. I'm not crazy about the aftermarket Pioneer radio, but I can live with it. My daughter saw it parked in the driveway and said she would like it for a back-up car.
All in all, I think these were a good bargain.

Check on line for which auction companies operate near you. Take the time to go and check the cars before you bid (you can start them and move them slightly, but can't take them out for a drive). With Trump, he says Eff' it and moves on. Once conservatives threw overboard the "morality clause" the Ds knew they had closer fight on their hands. And it scares the bejeezus out of them.

But the two events were unrelated and the only common factor was the country name (Libya). Kim Jong-un probably knows that and was merely looking for a pretext to pick a fight. I live in the South. Here, the conservatives are not having the babies. The Hispanics (Latinos?) are having the babies. I live in a purple area, the outer edge of suburban Metro-Atlanta, and most of the kids in grocery stores and Walmart do not speak English.
That, combined with ever increasing voter fraud (in favor of the D of course) and blue Yankees moving here for jobs, is turning us blue, like a plague spreading out from Atlanta along the major roads.

Even in the South, half of the whites are. In the cities the white (D)s are much greater a percentage.
We can't out-birth the people who are already out-birthing us, much less those moving here.

I saw some statistics this morning which were being compiled for a research paper, stating the white population of the US is 61% as of 2017.
That number is much lower than I thought it would be.

Amazon offers a "partners" program in which a website links to Amazon and if a person clicks on the link through that site and then buys something from Amazon, Amazon gives the site a percentage of the sale.
In LI case, the money was helping to keep the site running and not only has Amazon cut them off from the program, but Amazon told them that the money they were holding that LI had earned through it's site links will not be sent to them.

I believe it. I remember reading a few years ago that hispanics had already outnumbered blacks, and they've been 14% or so of the population for a while now.
