Harvard University will honor Hillary Clinton on Friday with an award recognizing her "transformative impact on society." Yup. Sounds exactly like a participation trophy. Progressives are forever giving each other awards and patting each other on the back. Why is that? Next up: John Brennan will get a Best Penmanship Prize.

I have no memory of this song, which is weird, because it came out in 1973 and I was keeping track of top-40 radio at the time. It very much has an early 70s sound to it, but I like the kick-ass intro and Sister Janet has a great singing voice. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

Hmm. Wasn't the 924 powered by a truck engine. Maybe even an Audi truck engine...don't recall.
The 924 was originally intended to be badged as a VW and was powered by a two-liter SOHC four borrowed from the VW Transporter line IIRC. The 944 (the prettiest car ever built IMO) replaced that with a big aluminum four developed for the purpose, and which ended up sort of a Galapagos Porsche, an independent evolutionary lineage. I think by the end it'd grown to 3.2 liters. A 944 stuffed full of GM LS6 goodness is a beautiful piece of hardware if done right, but it costs just about as much to do one right as it does to pick up a good used C6 Z06... SC Code for DUI
SECTION 56-5-2930. Operating motor vehicle while under influence of alcohol or drugs; penalties; enrollment in Alcohol and Drug Safety Action Program; prosecution. (A) It is unlawful for a person to drive a motor vehicle within this State while under the influence of alcohol to the extent that the person's faculties to drive a motor vehicle are materially and appreciably impaired, under the influence of any other drug or a combination of other drugs or substances which cause impairment to the extent that the person's faculties to drive a motor vehicle are materially and appreciably impaired, or under the combined influence of alcohol and any other drug or drugs or substances which cause impairment to the extent that the person's faculties to drive a motor vehicle are materially and appreciably impaired. A person who violates the provisions of this section is guilty of the offense of driving under the influence and, upon conviction, entry of a plea of guilty or of nolo contendere, or forfeiture of bail must be punished as follows. . . Notice it says "motor vehicle" so you would think no DUI for drunk horse riding. But they fix that with a separate code that says people riding "animals" will be treated the same under the laws as those driving motor vehicles. Ergo, a horse is a motor vehicle for the purpose of the DUI (and other laws). Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at May 23, 2018 12:08 PM (mpXpK) 272

Name one thing in "society" Hillary Clinton transformed.
Haiti. Everybody there hates her (and her priapic husband) passionately. I heard this from a woman in my church whose son does missionary work in that country. Posted by: OregonMuse, AoSHQ Thought Leader Contributing Editor, Vanity Fair Magazine at May 23, 2018 12:04 PM --- The weird thing with Haiti is that it sits on an Island with another Country that is very prosperous by the standards of that region while Haiti is a $hit hole in constant crisis mode due to all of the corruption. I don't believe we sent anywhere near the money and people to the DR after the latest Hurricane that devastated both Countries not just Haiti as the msm would have you believe. Very, very attractive, and clearly a leftover design from when Ford owned Jaguar. "
No need. Current design team is led by a Aussie and Brit. Let's see, it's 2018. So it was two and a half decades ago that Ford decided to replace the Scorpio/Granada (not the US Granada, the Euro low-end exec car). So they cooked up a new platform, then they bought Jaguar and decided not to sell it as a Ford in Europe, and after an almost interminable development period they put the Jag S-Type and Lincoln LS on the market. The only modern sedan ever engineered for a Ford nameplate. Over at BMW there was an Anglophile named Wolfgang Reitzle, he ran around buying up the remnants of the collapsed UK auto industry but the Quandt family (BMW is a privately-held company and TINY by industry standards) got tired of pouring money into Rover Group and gave Reitzle the clown-cannon treatment. He landed at the Blue Oval, bought the Land Rover operation, proceeded to try to stratify the Ford brands so that Lincoln would not compete with his pet Jaguar and Land Rover brands. Ford had no clue how much capital would be needed to fix Jag and LR, and for whatever reason was insufficiently brutal in combining those two operations. In the end Reitzle got the heave-ho and his German banker friends parked him in a sinecure running an industrial-gas outfit. Ford sold JLR to the Indians (oh, and they'd picked up Volvo in the meanwhile, and they sold that to the Chinese, they were in serious financial doo-doo). So they hunkered down to being a purveyor of low-end stuff and trucks, which is where they remain now. They've decided to ditch cars and just peddle a few little crossovers, and of course the trucks, they're following the Isuzu model. I'm done with Ford. All that separate the Dominican Republic from Haiti is an imaginary line drawn down the center of the Island.
Posted by: The Great White Scotsman at May 23, 2018 12:10 PM (+Dllb) +++++++++ I suspect communism might be a factor. In the '60s, DR kicked theirs out (with a little uninvited help from a USMC amphibious landing and limited occupation after their rebels started shooting at our embassy and evacuation helicopters) and Haiti didn't. Also, that little forgotten war in the DR was the genesis of what became the Johnson Doctrine of "no communist revolutions in the western hemisphere." So they hunkered down to being a purveyor of low-end stuff and trucks, which is where they remain now. They've decided to ditch cars and just peddle a few little crossovers, and of course the trucks, they're following the Isuzu model. --- I love, love, LOVE that the federal government destroyed station wagons and is essentially solely responsible for the huge market for SUVs, and now we've reached the point where a major manufacturer is no longer even going to sell small fuel-efficient cars in the U.S. That's such a feel good story. Funny... I totally remember that song. It was oddly tied up in an era with all those anti-Vietnam hippie tunes like Billy, Don't Be A Hero and Tie A Yellow Ribbon. I think it was how I had any knowledge of the Lord's Prayer in my youth, as my family was of the more agnostic/atheist persuasion.

"9 Florida Man today is the bottom of the barrel. Without researching him, I bet he lives in the Keys" Actually, no. He's from Palm Bay. Not sure which bridge he was trying to cross.
I liked the nun song back in the day. I think that it freaked a lot of people out because it wasn't the traditional Lord's Prayer tune. Posted by: Larry Geiger at May 23, 2018 02:07 PM (nX644) 376

The Lords Prayer song...for decades I have thought of this song. My grandparents had this on vinyl and as a kid in single digits messing around with my uncles that were a few years older (split family) sneaking around and playing hide-n-seek and messing with their parents' record player in the early 80's I *vivdly* remember this song because it was so fetching. My family was active in the local Baptist church and while I became a scumbag while growing up, as a middle-aged man I have come back around and still recall this tune. When I saw the label of the item in the article, I thought "Oh please be that song" and it was. Thanks for digging it up.
