I like this painting. Yes, it looks a little like JRR Tolkien's more primitive, yet more stylized, work and, yes, perhaps a Yes album cover, but I found that I like it. It has some impressionism in it, but cleaner lines. I like the brushwork and the color choice. It is a very technically sound, and serene, piece of art.

I despise Britain
Posted by: Lucius Cornelius Sulla at May 17, 2018 09:31 AM (E/U1b) I watch the occasional British crime drama tv shows, imported by PBS, usually. What I have noticed, is that these shows appear to be, not so much pc bs indoctrination, but the most insipid silly nonsense, genuflecting before the national narrative, and wrapped in these nice packages of fantasy, no less out of touch with reality than your average superhero movie. Seriously. For all the white, wealthy, otherwise reasonably health people getting murdered as they do, your average American ghetto family would be devastated by it all. Does it phase anybody? No, it does not. We kill off teenage girls, brothers of police officers, police officers themselves, college dons, politicians, famous athletes and performers... and every time. EVERY time, the killer is white and reasonably well off, at least. It's kinda funny to watch. I play spot the killer, based on who is the most put together character in the first act. ---------------------------------------------- I do the same thing - sometimes it's too easy to even be fun. If there's ever a vicar or someone with an ecclesiastical collar in a modern brit show, he's always gonna turn out to be the culprit at the end. Just imagine how shocked they would be if someone wrote a show were the child rapist turned out to be a moslem. It would be banned, no doubt. Posted by: Tom Servo at May 17, 2018 09:43 AM (V2Yro) The worst is Grantchester. It started out as a buddy cop show, with one of the "cops" being the crime solving vicar! Then they turned our vicar into a sexing, drinking, miserable sot, and the cop cheats on his wife, and there's of course a gay vicar, and everyone who is racist gets it in the end. Did I mention this silly show is set in the 50s? The first two seasons were alright, one could tolerate the anachronisms, because the stories were interesting. Now the crimes are just a sidenote. 271 IT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE FROM 20 FEET AWAY, YOU KNOW.
I did the math at the time and at 100 feet, the difference between the time it takes an average .223 to complete the distance and a 9mm is less than a quarter of the time it takes to blink. So, uh, it's not like you're jumping out of the way or anything. If you both fired at the same time, and both were on target, on the scale of unassisted human perception you get hit simultaneously. Posted by: bonhomme at May 17, 2018 10:19 AM (iv0p7) ================ Yep. To the uninformed (read as the entire MSM) 3000 fps and 1300 fps sound like a massive difference and they are-over about 100 yards. 20 feet? The main difference will be the holes they leave and how messy it is. You ain't dodging either. "Chuck Schumer @SenSchumer When all of our great-great-grandparents came to America they weren't "animals," and these people aren't either. " If the Constitution is a "living breathing thing" as you Progs love to say, then so the fuck is history. When my great grandparents and other assorted progenitors came here they wanted to become American in language and culture, and there was no welfare state enabling their potentially worst instincts for laziness or dependency. The culture at large, and particularly the schools, universally enforced assimilation: requiring English, teaching American history and civics, demanding appropriate participation in the civic rituals like standing for the Pledge of Allegiance and the national anthem. The country as a whole had less than half its present population. Every small town along the Eastern seaboard had not yet been packed with subdivisions, paved over twice and had its farms and forests razed for an exponentially increasing suburban population. We had not as yet assimilated generations of socialist voting peasants from the Third World, so as to tip the balance of innumerable election districts first to Democrats, and then to outright socialists. The governing institutions of our society, and cultural elites, and Universities, had not yet been taken over by anti American Marxist deconstructionists, so those from socialist home countries who were about to join our own governing institutions would be more likely to promote an America-as-founded society, as opposed to being indoctrinated to "transform" America into something entirely foreign and more like the countries they came from. So fuck you Chuck and your entirely false, sepia-toned pseudo nostalgic bullshit. More cofeve now and back to work.... Posted by: xnycpeasant at May 17, 2018 10:35 AM (koNhm) 335

I'll never get how Segal became popular in the first
place. His movies are dreadful, all of them. He cannot act. In a world of Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris, his fighting is subpar. Hell, Segal makes Jean Claude Van Damme movies seem like Masterpiece Theater. On top of that, he's a loathsome human being apparently. Baffling. Posted by: Bear with Assymetrical Balls at May 17, 2018 10:38 AM (iys0/) You have to go back in time. He was a kicking, punching bad-arse. He looked the part. The movies were coherent, they had a linear story, even if they were all pretty much the same thing, repackaged. You knew he was going to get the bad guys in the end, and it was going to be gloriously gruesome. Honestly, you compare 80s "action" movies to the schlock created today, and it's practically Shakespearean. Nobody then was making stuff just to please the Chinese audience. Several years ago had a coworker who was into this "fantasy football" thing. As was common by then, all Internet access in the office went through a firewall. One day this guy got called into our manager's office to account for his actions. Seems the firewall keyed on the word "fantasy" in "fantasy football", and he was under suspicion for looking at sexually oriented sites while at work. He had to do some fast talking to get out of that one. I'm sure it's only gotten worse in the years since then... Posted by: The Oort Cloud - Source of all SMODs at May 17, 2018 10:53 AM (1bzSL) 416

Mueller, I'm out here waiting for you. And you are a yella bellie punk if you don't come to see me "I think that they have the facts from which they can write their report," Giuliani said. "If you're going to write a fair report, fine, write it. If you're going to write an unfair report, write it, and we will combat it. We're ready to rip to it apart, and we're ready to rip them apart, if that's what they want. We would rather peacefully settle this and get it over with."
