1 Good Morning Morons; today is Saturday, May 12, 2018. On this day in 1846 the Donner Party of pioneers departed Independence, Missouri for California, on what will become a year-long journey of hardship and and very limited cannibalism by some of the party on already dead bodies. This action has been sensationalized to the max. It was nowhere near as bad as it has been made out to be.

Coral Snake has a pic with the article.

Here is a King Snake. There are various varieties but this is the one that looks like a coral snake. Notice that the nose stars out red and not black. That is the dead give-away. So remember the old slogan; if the nose is black get back. As for me I would not mess with either one although king snakes are harmless.

I see it as 'carrot and stick' approach. Conditional assistance. Most people will respond to that. The only other method is KITA - kick in the ass. Trump has shown we're more then prepared for that approach.

The secret to 'carrot and stick' is to keep the donkey constantly moving while the carrot is slightly out of reach. Over promise, under provide.

Lincoln's birthday was never a federal holiday, though it was a holiday in many states.

Prezzie's Day was just part of a move to glue more Federal holidays to a weekend, rather than having a useless Tue/Wed/Thu off. Federal Holidays Act of 1971.

MLK Day started 12 years later in 1983, signed into racist law by one of those notoriously racist Republicans, Ronald Racist Reagan.

91 Good Morning Morons; today is Saturday, May 12, 2018. On this day in
1846 the Donner Party of pioneers departed Independence, Missouri for
California, on what will become a year-long journey of hardship and and
very limited cannibalism by some of the party on already dead bodies.
This action has been sensationalized to the max. It was nowhere near as
bad as it has been made out to be.

It was the United flight of its day.

They have a rattlesnake round up out in west Texas every year too. Guys in the rings handling snakes and booths where you can see snakes getting 'milked'. They have some pretty good snake eats, too. Fried, smoked, honey glazed...

I realize snakes have their place in the ecosystem, as well as on the table and in the cobblers shop, but it's not like they're irreplaceable in each of those applications.

All baby poisonous snakes are more deadly than adult ones. The babies haven't yet learned how to control the amount of venom they inject, going for the WOW! factor instead of keeping some venom in reserve. Plus, they come out of the nest quite hungry.

I was doing clean-up around a construction site and had to remove the rockpile. So I grabbed its tail while it's head was in the rocks and pulled it free.

I've had the zero interest loans too. If you know how it works and actually do a little homework on the loan, it's no problem. But those that walk into a dealership with crappy credit, still owe on their last car etc. etc and are in love with a new/newer car, are going to get taken advantaged of IF they don't do some homework beforehand.

True for 'kingsnakes' but normally doesn't king just mean they eat other snakes? Australian Black Snakes are king snakes and eat the equally venomous but aggressive brown snake. They normally choose whether to inject venom based on whether they are defending or planning to eat what they are biting. King cobras are also venomous and dangerous.

And all snakes can cause heart attacks in many male homo sapiens and all females just by looking at one, and are a great cure for constipation.

331 These remembrances of the Carter years remind me that none of the younger voters today have any clue what those years were like, and why we all still despise Jimmy Carter so much. For the last 20 or 30 years, I feel greatly for the people who have lost jobs, and who's industries have been outsourced. (the Disney workers who had to train foreign replacements, frex) But for those who were able to hang onto jobs, it has been pretty good economic times, comparatively, for about 35 years now. Some ups and downs, but remove the politicking and they haven't really been all that big. (Even 2008 - 2009 loan crisis was over fairly quickly)

but back when Carter was Pres, the ENTIRE country sucked for everyone, every transaction, every day! And all the "experts" would say was "oh this is the New Normal, no one can do anything about this, all of our Top Men are on it and they all agree, so Quit yur Bellyachin', peasants."

And youngsters forget that what Reagan did more than anything was to ignore all the Top Men and all the Naysayers who said he was a fool to think he could change anything, and he turned all the policies upside down, and by sheer force of will put in place the policies that led to the 80's boom and most of the growth this country has seen since then.

And oh, how the Left has ALWAYS hated him for that!

352 Yes, and Trump just heard rumors from Cohen. He's supposed to start a federal investigation of it as a private citizen? Now maybe if it was in a dossier he would have had to do something. ?

Everything about this story is dirty, and stupid to boot. First, the only way this came out is that some of the people who raided Cohen's files are rifling through them and leaking what they think is juicy to the MSM. Illegal, illegal, illegal, and Contempt of Justice in its purest form.
Next, there's not even a hint, IF this is true as portrayed, that Trump and Co. had actual evidence, he just was told the rumor, which apparently half of NYC knew. And last, it's stupid to say that Trump should have kneecapped Schneiderman when every Dem in Congress would have called for him to be impeached if he had.

And lastly, the story as told doesn't hurt Trump at all, it just points out that everyone knew that one of the Dem's biggest stars enjoyed abusing women in private, and all the Dem's knew about it.

I think this is an example of the Masters anxious to put anything they find in Cohen's files out into the public, and miscalculating, and all of their little lap dogs in the MSM are too stupid to even realize their masters have made a mistake in throwing this to them.

Not involved in the F-35 program, but little I've heard in my discipline indicates that weight limitations are a concern. Despite the designator (F), it's actually more of a fighter-bomber than an interceptor. That role is reserved for the F-22, but we don't have very many of them.

My suspicion is that the F-35 program has turned into a $h!t-show and is the now the F-111 redux. Too much money has been spent and now more money is going to be spent in order to salvage the program.

I have friends who duck hunt a lot in East Texas and Louisiana, and they remind why they (or anyone else who goes out into swampy water) were super heavy hip waders that can't be bitten through - they say out there walking through that water, every step you take you can feel something alive squirming out from under your foot, and you never know what it is.
