What better way than give them a few $100 Billion and a Treaty that would keep the West off the Iranians back while they developed their nukes.

You are correct in that it is unfair to compare US and Israeli success and failures. My comments were more of a general observation.
Full disclosure, I worked in the Intel community for many years.
And it is even more unfair, I believe, to compare successes and failures in the Middle East. I doubt there are more than 50-60 people in the American Intel Community today who can speak Farsi like a native...people who could blend in in Iran. I suspect Mossad has hundreds. This alone make a huge difference when it comes to old fashioned HUMINT and really knowing your adversary.
But again, my point is this is simply breathtaking in terms of audacity, skill and success. The effects on Iran going further will last decades.

I am somewhat amused, because these douche buckets go somewhere overseas for a press junket, and think that makes them experts on foreign policy. Every once in a while, one of them will demand to come to the Embassy for a "briefing." Basically, they want to go to an Embassy and traipse around and get fawned over by everyone but the admin and security guys who have to drop everything and deal with their crap. Not that I am bitter or anything.
honestly, the best was Alice Cooper, who gave free tickets to his concert in Athens to Embassy staff, as well as backstage passes. He just asked for us to bring him a burger. I made him chocolate chip cookies too.

A friend of mine that is a lobbyist that has worked regularly with McCain's office has heard pretty credible rumors his health is such that he very well could die in he next few months before the election.

It really is amazing. I also think there's the possibility it was all taken electronically. If Stuxnet could operate for so long undetected, I don't think it's a stretch that a similar program could be introduced that could somehow transmit the pages. And even if it was all done electronically, I would still heavily suggest it was HUMINT and tie up the Iranian secret police for months on a who-done-it mission.

Well, he's a devout Christian, so that may be why. He gave a 2 1/2 hour show, no breaks, with another twenty minutes of encores. He then sat and chatted with us Embassy dweebs for another hour or so. He's very intelligent, and had some cogent thoughts on Greek-Turkish relations. I was truly impressed.
