You guys remember that situation several years ago, where a woman got a baby put in her by a sperm bank, and then sued the "anonymous" donor for child support?
I was watching some MGTOW video or another where that case was mentioned. The poor schlub was indeed found liable for child support. I got to thinking about that case again afterwards, and a funny thought occurred to me. What if, instead of being purely defensive and relying on, "Hey, I never signed up for such a deal, and neither did you, so neither of us owes the other anything" he'd gone all-out on offense, and counter-sued for full custody of the kid? That strikes me as perhaps a much more effective defense in such cases. Give her something to lose, potentially, you know? Posted by: Prothonotary Warbler at April 25, 2018 10:20 PM (wSC8T) 23

After the serial killer thread I'm rewatching Mindhunter. David Fincher is the most red pilled director when it comes to male nature and female nature. There was an interesting dialogue in episode one at the bar about the rise of crime and deviance. The FBI teacher said to the younger one that the people used to regard the State as patriarchal, thus imolying the change to matriachial state is the cause.
Feminists should hate Fincher but because he hammers male nature they focus on that and leave him alone. Posted by: Monk at April 25, 2018 10:36 PM (573j3) 90

Our federal court system is f*cked up. How? You ask. 9th District of the Federal Court of Appeals and a monkey selfie.
++++ I disagree, strongly. I think. It sounds like you object to what the Federal Court of Appeals did. They did the right thing. We don't need PETA filing lawsuits on the behalf of animals. Hopefully, this action by the Federal Court of Appeals hammered a stake through the heart of the whole concept. Posted by: Hungry Cannibal at April 25, 2018 10:37 PM (pvjTE) 93

Homelessness pays up here.
The panhandlers make a pretty good living, and they have better foul weather gear than I do. Some of it they get from various private social services, but I suspect they make enough to buy their own. They eat free at Bean's Cafe, they sleep at Brother Francis shelter, or in tents in the parks, when they drink too much the Safety Patrol rounds them up and drives them to detox. It is my belief that there is a not insignificant segment of the homeless population that is homeless by choice. There is a segment who are mentally incompetent, but cannot be institutionalized because it would "violate their civil rights." Apparently, taking care of them would somehow ruin their freedom, or some such shit. Then there is a segment that probably would find their way out of homelessness but prefers to drink or do drugs, so they never quite make it. I do not believe that most of them are ever going to get jobs and housing and become self supporting. Nor do I believe that the government should continue to support them. Private groups manage that just fine. Anchorage used to have a prison farm (up until the late 1960's) where a guy could get busted for vagrancy, get three hots and a cot, and learn how to grow stuff and become useful. That, also, apparently violated their human rights, or some such shit. So, all the hand wringing and government dollars continue to be wasted, while the homeless keep on keeping on. That thread on Upper West Siders and their school getting to experience diversity should have cheered me up but it didn't. It just reminds me of what a mess liberals have made of education. Way back in the dark ages of the 60s and 70s the methods used by public schools was actual very simple. Flood the kids with math and reading and writing. using tried and proven techniques, Repetition, memorization, drilling and practice-practice-practice. Try to control the bad kids with harsh discipline but separate them when necessary, move the smart kids on in special groups when they showed promise and motivation
Maybe not a perfect system but it worked well overall. We led the world in every are imaginable. Forced busing threw a wrench in the whole system and that was followed by political correctness that refuses and does does not permit discussion or mention of what and who is causing most of the disciple and academic in problems (mostly poor black kids, and now Hispanics are not allowed to be mentioned either.) So we get one idiotic solution after another with testing, goals, programs that never work because he problems cannot be named. Yet we are told blatant lies about how much better things are using phony metrics and how much better kids learn in diverse classrooms. And having half a school that cannot speak English will be good for my kids. And, BTW, all that white man history is not relevant anymore but damned well better agree to increase your taxes, happily, racist. The fact that I will probably have to send my kids to a private school in the next year or two pisses me off to no end not just because of he headache and cost but because it shouldn't be necessary. Teaching kids is not rocket science but the libs have tried to make it so while politicizing the educational process. In the monkey case, the trial-level court (federal district court) did "throw the suit out." That's how appeals work: the trial court makes a decision; then whoever is unhappy with the result files a Writ of Fuck This Noise* with the court of appeals.

Our love for Joyce is not unknown, but it can be administered in sweet doses from afar. I've been told that time is precious. As the years advance, I am perfectly aware of that fact. As I say my prayers for The Horde and beyond, I am reminded of this fact at every turn. The fleeting beauty that is life can pass us by as would another car on the street. At forty-six years of age, I am just learning to take-in the beauty of things. Might our prayers and the joy of your memories be the love that she needs to dwell well in today. Might that be the case for you, as well. Ephemeral hugs and ethereal prayers are never enough. Your eternal love and His eternal house are the only things that matter at this point. God Bless you and Joyce. --Your Friendly Neighborhood Slapweasel. Posted by: Slapweasel, (Cold1), (T) at April 25, 2018 11:00 PM (Ckg4U) 186
Finally!
I've been griping about businesses not embracing their inner-MAGA and using it as a marketing campaign. Nike markets and sells sports-hijabs to a minuscule demographic. I assume at some point they will sell a tennis skirt with a built-in jock strap for trannies. It only makes sense that a company like Pelican coolers would seize the opportunity to grab market share when YETI goes SJW. Duck Commander, CFA, Hobby Lobby have proven that unabashedly conservative and Christian coupled with business sense is a winning combo. Give conservatives a choice and we will buy your products! But! It had only fallen because the clip on the case had slipped off my belt. The Otterbox had thus both caused and solved the problem. I'm not 100% certain that that tradeoff was entirely worth the $70 I spent on the Otterbox. Posted by: Prothonotary Warbler at April 25, 2018 11:07 PM (wSC8T) 208

Hey everybody, again.
People are asking: why do you always find the homeless in the shittiest areas? Well duh. I know from observation, when homeless people camp out in a *good* area... residents, who give a shit about their neighborhood, crime rate and property values, call the cops, who actually do something about them, i.e., move them back to skid row. Also, a lot of homeless people are shitheads but not dumb. Where dumbshit liberal city councils (who will never have to deal with them directly) are willing to tolerate them, they order the cops to ignore them and off the bums go, which is why you can find them in *some* semi-nice areas like Venice, filled with progressives who just feel oh so good about letting homeless people piss all over them. Last night watching the news, I heard about a proposal in Sacramento, SB1971, that would loosen the requirements necessary to commit a lot of habitual homeless.
Among other things, you have to be able to show that a person *cannot* truly care for themselves, in order to have them committed. SB1971 would expand this to include "ability to procure healthcare." By this standard, supposedly, homeless people would fail, and thus could be taken in my state mental health facilities. Of course, all of us can imagine how well this would go if it were implemented. There's probably Sacto libs who would want to have committed anyone who won't sign up for Obamacare. Posted by: qdpsteve at April 25, 2018 11:23 PM (eMKNe) 247

I'm glad the Hillary supporting harridan from the Port Authority got canned for thinking she could order the cops around. BUT when you read the story, I must say that I understand why she got upset - it was a total bullshit stop by the cop, just so he could harrass some 19 year old girls (or whatever). No traffic violation at all, just that the front windshield appeared to have some tint that was too dark in NJ (but legal in other states) and they ended up confiscating the car. Now that is some bullshit there.
Oh and they also pulled the old "we can't see the license plate because the dealer put on a border you don't know about that slightly touches one of the numbers". Of course the plate could be easily read, but it's a technicality that traffic cops use to pull over anyone they feel like hassling for some reason. The way these local real estate costs are going right now, if I'd had to rent an apartment for another year, I really think I'd have found myself priced right out of the market to own a place, and within another decade, I'd have had to go back to getting a roommate or two just to rent an apartment. The "homeless" congregate in places like SkidRow because that's where the free food, drugs, clothes, veterinary care, medical care are. Which leaves them money from General Relief or SSDI or food stamps or from thievery to buy drugs. So, it's a life.

I remember hearing at the time that a curious effect of the last test was that there was the large initial seismic shock from the blast, which was significantly bigger than expected, and then a few seconds later a strong secondary seismic shock, which was unexpected. And the story tonight says that space based measurements have determined that the mountain peak over the test location is now significantly lower than it was before the test. keep blowing up the inside of a mountain with nukes, eventually it gonna fall down and go boom. And since the original blast was much bigger than anyone thought they could do, they may have gotten a bit too clever with their design and unwittingly designed a weapon with enough yield to blow their test base apart. come to think of it, the worst part may be that with the loss of containment, probably the entire remaining underground facility is now heavily radioactive. AOP, I do believe that's a huge part of it!
I noticed, too, that warrantable condos, the ones that first-time homebuyer schlubs like me could get financing to buy, were the ones that got snapped up right away by cash offers. The non-warrantable ones, which are impossible to get financing to buy with less than, like, a 20% downpayment, would stay on the market for much longer. Those pot dealers know what they're doing in real estate! They jump right on the cheap places someone like me could buy, and let the ones I can't buy stay on the market for now. on the topic of blasts that were too big - the famous picture we've all seen of the blast column towering over the anchored ships at Bikini Atoll is a testament to two of the biggest screwups the US made in its nuclear testing. The first, the Baker test in 1946, was supposed to leave most of the ships in usable condition with light cleaning. The navy didn't account for the effects of high temperature radioactive steam resulting from the blast condensing all over the ships, and the radioactive contamination was so great that probably 50 or so ships that were supposed to go back to active duty had to be scrapped. The admiral in charge of the test was forcibly retired.
The second big "oops" was in 1954, with the first H-bomb test. In modeling the blast size, no one thought to take into account the amplifying effect of the traces of naturally occurring deuterium and tritium in sea water, and the blast was an order of magnitude bigger than expected, destroying much of the test equipment and another round of ships that had been parked near the epicenter to gauge the blast's effects. On the good side, at least it proved wrong the theory that there was enough deuterium in sea water to sustain a chain reaction and detonate the Earth. Probably not the most prudent way to find that out. Posted by: Tom Servo at April 26, 2018 12:01 AM (V2Yro) 358

Well professional homeless or beggars want to live in the nicest place possible because that is where they will get the best benefits and most handouts from passers by. Nome of them are thinking of owning and or leasing property and are nowhere near qualifying to do so.
Professional homeless in a big city can rake in a lot of cash and do surprisingly well so long as they do not have a mental problem or addiction Posted by: yankeefifth My problem understanding this is that I live in Michigan. We had snow last week. Around here you can pretty much tell the difference between the addict/mental illness homeless and the people who don't want to work. When will they just cave and come out with a coffin like box with it's own "facilities" "plugged in" and piped in info and oxygen? You know they want to do it. And it would be more comfortable than that thing. It'll be the innovation of the century similar to the way shipping containers renewed the shipping industry. Venus is for lovers. of 900 degree weather, no sunlight, and sulfuric acid clouds
Posted by: Boulder t'hobo at April 26, 2018 12:31 AM (V2mvo) From https://what-if.xkcd.com/30/ "While Venus's surface is awful, its upper atmosphere is surprisingly Earthlike. 55 kilometers up, a human could survive with an oxygen mask and a protective wetsuit; the air is room temperature and the pressure is similar to that on Earth mountains. You need the wetsuit, though, to protect you from the sulfuric acid. (I'm not selling this well, am I?) "The acid's no fun, but it turns out the area right above the clouds is a great environment for an airplane, as long as it has no exposed metal to be corroded away by the sulfuric acid. And is capable of flight in constant Category-5-hurricane-level winds, which are another thing I forgot to mention earlier. "Venus is a terrible place." I live here in SF, and yes, the homeless problem is enormous.
Some cases are legit, others, maybe most, aren't. I am a musician and so I walk to my car in the dark after gigs. It can be a bit scarifying. I'm old but I'm big. Most don't mess with me. One time I got off a gig, and it is pouring rain, a real soaker. I had a raincoat and an umbrella. Come around the corner and there is a woman, maybe 70 years old (she looked it, even if she was 50) in a wheelchair, she was drenched, and just sobbing her head off. Boo-hoo sobbing. And, of course, she had a little doggy, since the SPCA will give dogs to the homeless rather than put them down. It was the most pitiful thing I had ever seen. I gave her my raincoat and twenty bucks. Raincoat was worth $200. Others I will walk right past, especially young males, but this woman, I guess I thought she could be the Lord sending me a test of conscience. Like maybe when I die I won't get let in to heaven on account of I walked past a cold, wet, old woman and her dog, sobbing her head off in a deluge of rain, didn't help her, and then St. Peter would tell me that it was really him. I should make a movie about it. Posted by: navybrat, keeping a low profile at April 26, 2018 12:38 AM (w7KSn) 488
I grok you, willow. You do your best but it's never good enough. The good times don't last and it's only a matter of time before something unforeseen and unanticipated steps in front of you and keeps you from having any of the good things. And there's no way around it. You do, however, get to watch others enjoy their good things, so there's that...like watching BJ Cliton, the asshole who destroyed my career, hop on a jet and go anywhere he wants whenever he wants while I can barely scrape the money together to get my 19-year-old car fixed to take B'Gal to her doctors. The Barrel calls out with it's sweet siren song of false allure.
The Moron or 'Ette dreams thoughts of new white oak, perfectly charred, and resplendent with the bouquet of aged bourbon recently contained therein. "Not so bad", they think. "I can do this", they hope. When suddenly, the hopes are dashed, the dreams are slain and every fear is realized. Thu Barrul.... bears a strong resemblance to the fabled "Honeypot" of G.I. lore, being just an oversized version of the standard 55 gal. steel drum. No one really knows how big it is, or how much it'll hold, but the faint tracings of the words: Exxon Valdez, suggest themselves through the rust and faded paint on the sides. But that's only half of the horror. Once an Exxon property, the Valdez was sold to the Heinz concern, who promptly broke their promise to send the ship to Pakistani shores to be torched into pre-rusted razor blades. No, it is into this nightmare of crude coated, salty, brine filled tanks that one is unceremoniously thrown down into fear, darkness and despair. It is here that our Moron or 'Ette finds themselves in quite the pickle. Swim though they might, they can never seem to ketchup, withal. No one relishes their time in the tanks. Until, that is, either a COB, or Teh Ewok, or even Pixy fancies to drop down the line from a crane, and ... blessed rescue avails. And the lingering stink of the fluids below persists, until one quaffs enough Val-U-Rite to drive out the foul from the pores, with the to-be-expected, alcoholic funk of the ONT regular. It's nearly a password to those in the know. Loving parents find themselves confused...whether to afflict their spawn with nightmares from being warned of the horrors, or to not mention it at all, only to cry in anguish as their beloveds are plucked from their keyboards and screens by the Power that is Teh Barrel. Centuries hence, whatever remains of mankind will sit around campfires in the dark of night, and speak but in hushed voice, of the legend of that past nightmare. They'll make ceremonies in hopes of forstalling it's reappearance, 'ever more. But in the end, they'll fail. First one that fails to close a tag in a smoke signal, and it's Game Over man. Game. Over. 522 Monk,
I think there are groups that help fathers with re to the rights of their children. Fighting for your rights may help, becoming bitter wont. Posted by: AmericanKestrel at April 26, 2018 01:04 AM (IDhUW) Thanks. I've been fighting for almost 6 years.... The good fight I've been told over and over again. It's a marathon and at the end I've had some serious false allegations thrown at me by state actors (educators). When there is zero consequences, accountability, and responsibilities for what are crimes like alienation, child abuse, domestic violence, signing a false statement, signing an maliciously false affidavits (of which I have recordings to prove their false).... The laws and family courts are stacked against dads because we are considered the aggressors even when protecting ourselves against those who use force, coercion, and violence against us. If you would like to point me to some legitimate groups that are active I'm all ears because I've found them to be lacking in my area or only after money by advertising fathers rights. Yeah I'm bitter, angry, fighting mad, I grieve everyday for the last 5 years for the loss of my kids and how this is fucking them up, I'm beyong financially ruined, and the worst part is I cannot find one family doctor or psychologist that can offer me one piece of advice besides give up or ride it out or some platitude. Fathers don't have rights..... Not in the current year. Posted by: Monk at April 26, 2018 01:23 AM (573j3) 536

275 -- I remember reading somewhere late last year that Whoa Fat's latest test had seriously damaged the mountain. From what I've read today, that was no understatement. What really makes my heart to pitter-pat is that fat boy's visit to China a couple weeks back was evidently to get reamed out good by Xi because if the mountain does collapse, the fallout will be headed straight to China. Xi, evidently, is not happy. China does not want either the fallout or millions of starving Norks flooding China when everything goes south.
I've always wondered why China did not administer a big, fat ass whooping to the Kim dynasty. Kim Jong-il especially made China lose face with the rest of the world big time on a number of occasions. https://preview.tinyurl.com/y9mmtj2s In Robert Mueller: Unmasked, the GOP Representative [Louie Gohmert] pulls back the curtain and exposes the sordid truth surrounding the special counsel's career. "What I have accumulated here is absolutely shocking upon the realization that Mueller's disreputable, twisted history speaks to the character of the man placed in a position to attempt to legalize a coup against a lawfully elected President", writes Gohmert.
Once Xi gets done remaking China to his liking, he'll have plenty of time to spank fat boy's chubby butt. I actually had a half way decent day today. Only six weeks late, I finally got my pansies planted today, along with a couple of parsley. (Swallowtale butterflies lay their eggs on parsley, and the caterpillars get big and fat before going off somewhere to pupate.) Then, this evening, Baen finally released the first chapter of so of David Weber's Honor Harrington series. It seemed a little bit more scatter shot than his last HH universe books. Too many short scenes introducing a million more characters. But the book itself doesn't come out until October, so I'm hoping those scenes will be filled out a little bit more by then.
Ibguy: I am truly sorry that Joyce has entered hospice. She is very fortunate, though, to be able to do it in her own home. I have always been haunted by the scene in Funky Winkerbean when Lisa was lying on a pedestal bed in the middle of an empty, sterile hospital room waiting to pass while Les just watched helplessly all alone. Joyce will be in her own bed, surrounded by her living family, and your brother-in-law will not have to sit there by himself waiting for the inevitable. Joyce has had an incredible year. Remember that. I wish you and her and your whole family the best. Posted by: Deplorable Lady with Only Two Deplorable Cats at April 26, 2018 02:04 AM (BOdUR) 552

As the old saying goes, Slap, you can pick your friends but not your family. I was fortunate enough to get out while the getting was good. From what I've heard, the few times I've actually talked to anyone back there, the situation just kept getting worse over time. One good thing is that a lot of the crazies have passed on to their just reward. But I'm just too old to go back and make peace with what's left. A text every couple of months suits me just fine. I have a husband, four loving kids, and four beautiful grandkids out here in flyover country who have been kept pretty isolated from the whole mess. So, it's worked fine for me. I hope you find some sort of liveable solution to your problem.

Thank you for that link. I've passed on Gohmert's scathing 48 page indictment of the 'honorable' Mueller. Mueller needs to be fired yester-fucking-day, with Trump fighting the good fight that will ensue. Trump should then go directly to the American people with a prime time presidential statement, with no media questions allowed, detailing Mueller's sordid history. It would be an eye-opener for many as Mueller's past has been ignored by the media/Dems happy with his attempt to get Trump. But the majority of the American people know the difference between right and wrong, and Mueller is not just wrong now but has been spectacularly wrong in the past with no consequences coming to him (except promotion upwards, in typical bureaucrat fashion). But Mueller, to his credit (/), has managed to waste millions of taxpayer dollars in settlements due to his unethical and criminal actions. Again, thanks. Well worth the time to read that 48 page damning indictment of Mueller. Posted by: RickZ at April 26, 2018 02:47 AM (YC6xl) 574

Preliminary arguments really have no bearing on how the four conservative justices will vote. During the oral arguments phase of the ObamaCare John Roberts sounded like he was going to strike down ObamaCare, the rest is history. The only justices you can trust are Thomas and Alito. With Thomas being the most trustworthy even more than Scalia. In fact in one case I forget which, they were deliberating over anonymous political activism/donations and Scalia was arguing that it should be illegal to be anonymous and be politically active and Thomas asked what about the federalist papers? Scalia then had an oh shit moment and joined Thomas. Posted by: Kreplach at April 26, 2018 05:30 AM (UfMVm) 594
