1 Good Morning Morons; today is Saturday, April 21, 2018. On this day in 1836 the Republic of Texas under Sam Houston defeated troops under Mexican General Antonio López de Santa Anna.

Usually I drive. I'm a tall guy and the damn plane seats have no leg room anymore. We flew first class so it's okay on that point. I had foot surgery last year and didn't think I could make the 22 hour drive down here. I would have been miserable by the end of the days.

.
.I used to the be the same way Vic and I did a short stint with the TSA when they stood up, but this last trip for my Aunt's funeral went 100% perfectly.

Planes on time and no kicking people off for over booking. Somehow both the wife and I got the exalted TSA "Pre check" status and didn't have to stand in any lines or take our shoes off.

Still not sure exactly how that happened though. The one TSA guy said it was purely random and another said it was because we are both retired form the Navy and used those ID's plus we checked in online a day early.

However it happened it happened both ways and was actually pleasant especially at the Dallas airport, that line had to be at least 250-300 people deep.

72 @25

That's why I was incredibly pissed at the Gorsuch decision and his use of vagueness as a criteria to strike down a pretty straightforward commonly understood legal term.

The 2nd ammendment has to be one of the most clearly written unambiguous pieces of law ever to be committed to paper and yet we have dick fuck judges scratcthing their balls saying its unclear what the founders where on about, a real head scratcher.

Gorsuch fucked up and did the typical liberal thing of reasoning to result.

I don't have a problem with the Gorsuch position. I mentally put myself in the position of living in a police state and the police using some overly broad interpretation of a law to lock me away forever. Bankrupting me in the process.

I think it was the right thing. Let the law-writers fix the wording.

99 @75

Fix it how? By listing all possible crimes of violence?

Question: With regards to murder, do murder statutes list all the ways in which an individual can be charged with murdering someone?

Answer: No.

I have heard some say, well they should just have just said that aliens can be expelled for the commission of a felony.

Well my answer to that would be federal or state? Non-Violent or violent?

And even if you went down the rabbit hole of trying to list every fucking permutation of felony and every which way to try to innoculate the law from judicial interpretation a fucking judge will someone how rule the law is overly broad.

You do know that laws can and have been struck down for being overlybroad or that a judge can change the interpretation on a whim.

Remember when the SCOTUS said that State Exchanges really meant federal and state?

So if you wrote the law and said that illeaglas could be removed on the commission of a felony a fucking judge who's sole purpose was to strike down the law would say something like...

The usage of the world felony is overly broad and imprecise, do you mean state felony or federal felony?

Since you are charging him in federal court with a state crime and since immigration is under federal jurisdiction I reason that when you say felony you mean federal felony and I will now strike down your statute for being vague and overly broad.

This is what they do, they reason to result and can pretty much make up any shit they want and there is nothing we can do about it.

The actual immigration law doesn't make a difference whether it is a State felony or a federal felony. It says commission of a felony period. But they did not invoke the INS law in deporting him for some stupid reason.

I look at it this way; let's get the worst of the worst immigrants, legal or illegal out of the country. Start with the worst offenders, the murderers, the rapists, the violent, etc. There's plenty there to round up.

Burglars and jaywalkers are a little further behind on that list.

But some people see the word 'immigrant' and they go ballistic. The guy was here legally, at least.

I don't know why they charged him with that particular law, perhaps collusion with the judicial branch, perhaps taking the law for a spin, who knows...

Getting caught up on comments is a relative thing. If you're not behind when you refresh, you will be immediately after.

Been trying to get up earlier, and managed to get up today before dawn. Of course, it's overcast so no sunrise, but - probably because of the light sprinkling of rain in the early hours - the birds were screaming furiously.

Pleasant and mild and slightly damp here in NE OK, not 31 inches of snow like Egg Harbor. I'll take it.

Yet they have sergeants and lieutenants and captains and wannabe
four-star generals and they go around calling everyone who's not a cop a
"civilian."

STFU, you're all civilians.

Actually, no they're not. The legal definition of a peace officer is "the military police of a state." Peace officers didn't exist in the U.S. until after the Civil War.

Juices and soda are very similar as far as calories and amount of sugar.

216 I'll expand a little bit about what I said about Peace Officers. After the civil war Martial Law was imposed on the US - which is where the peace officers came from. Before the Civil War we had Constables and Sheriffs but they weren't in uniforms and didn't have military ranks. The military police (peace officers) were imposed on us by the martial law situation. FBI agents are not peace officers, they don't wear uniforms, and they don't have military ranks.

That Civil War martial law condition has never ended. The government likes it because it allows them to do all sorts of things it couldn't do without it. There was an interesting article by a federal judge in Utah that pointed all of that out.
