Posted by: AlaBAMA at April 25, 2018 09:30 AM (pUDQf) Lileks has a nice piece on his website, about the pinup artist who paints ladies who, in the act of doing something or other, have their panties falling down around their ankles. The paintings have men in various places, gawking at her, as she stands there with a look of shock on her face. They ladies are almost always carrying a bunch of things, like groceries. There's almost always a stalk of celery sticking out of the top of her grocery bag. The point being: Some "artists" have a thing, and what that thing is, it's probably best the rest of us just don't ever find out. Looks like some DOJ lawyers are intentionally ankling their arguments to support trumps DACA phase out. It is not difficult to argue "Federal law says this, the program is in violation of federal law in this way". It actually sounds like the judge is being reasonable, as if he wanted to side with the government, but their arguments were so (intentionally) bad, he had to rule against. I'm not even getting into the question of how we can have district judges all over the country making conflicting rulings that behold the executive to take a certain action that affects the entire country.

I saw a documentary about Lewis Carroll, and I thought they were going to gloss over the whole taking photos of little girls thing, but they didn't. Even had some forensic work done to determine if one photo in particular was his, of the famous Alice's big sister. It appears it almost certainly was, and if so, it's damn near impossible to chalk this up to just an innocent appreciation for young female children. They're gambling that they can thread a needle between the CA state govt (who will freak if they can her ass), and the public at large who would rather see her fired. I forsee a lot of fail in this strategy, most likely by provoking Trigglyprof into legal action against FSU after she tries to come back to work. A woman went to a pet shop and immediately spotted a large beautiful parrot. There was a sign on the cage that said $50.00. "Why so little?" she asked the pet store owner. The owner looked at her and said: "Look, I should tell you first that this bird used to live in a brothel, and sometimes it says some pretty vulgar things."
The woman thought about this, but decided she wanted the bird anyway. She took it home, hung its cage in her living room and waited for it to say something. The bird looked around the room, then at her, and said: "New house, new madam." The woman was a bit shocked at the implication, but then thought: "that's not so bad." When her two teenage daughters returned from school. The bird saw them and said, "New house, new madam, new girls." The girls and the woman were a bit offended, but then began to laugh about the situation. Moments later, the woman's husband came home from work. The bird looked at him and said: "Hi Bob". If the VA nominee does indeed have a drinking problem he's been keeping under wraps (and a whole lot of professionals with cushy jobs do, because it's easy to do and easy to hide) then no, he shouldn't get the job. Just a sign of the times that this was completely hidden and covered up as long as he was seen as an Obama loyalist, but the instant it looks like he might become Trump's guy, it all comes out.
But he wasn't a very good pick, honestly. So many better choices out there - reminds me of Bush's Harriet Miers pick. I do agree with you, but that war has to start with us acknowledging that at the current time, our side only has about 40 loyal votes in the Senate and about 1/3 of the House loyal to us. And the vast body of the Judiciary and the Bureaucracy are still dedicated to opposing us at every step. Outside of government, we have the entire Media, all of the Education Establishment, and most of Corporate America against us. Video of NJ Port Authority Commissioner Caren Z Turner, former aide to Hillary Clinton, trying to intimidate police following a police stop.
https://youtu.be/S6vlu1FRaic At about the 7:20 mark she tells the officer to "shut the fuck up". For those who don't want to watch the whole video, the police pulled the car over. Ms Turner is on scene, apparently having been called to pick up the occupants of the vehicle because the police are towing the vehicle. Her daughter was a passenger of the vehicle. Ms Turner becomes very officious and mentions her political position and her relationship to the Port Authority police. She demands to know why the car was stopped. The police tell her all the occupants of the car are adults, and Turner should ask them. At one point they mention they will file a report, and that she can see the report on Monday. Most of the rest of the video is Turner trying several tactics to get the information. The police also try several tactics to get her to move on. I feel that the police did the right thing. She didn't actually want the information, she wanted to argue the case and get the car back and the ticket rescinded. They recognized that and refused to play the game. She wasn't a passenger, she is only acting as a concerned citizen, right up to the point where she starts throwing her title around. At that point she was very wrong. Telling the officer to "shut the fuck up" was icing on the crap cake. Posted by: bonhomme at April 25, 2018 10:18 AM (iv0p7) 211
Parrots are one of the only animals that can untie a very well tied knot in a cord, which takes quite a bit of intelligence. I've seen one do it. Anybody who's ever put a dog on a leash knows that this is an area which totally mystifies any dog that has ever been born.

Its funny sad that some posters were reprimanding others last night for suggesting that a national divorce is necessary or desirable. In the mean time we continue to take one step forward and two steps back with no end in sight. Even our conservative justice ruled a twice convicted non citizen home burglar couldn't be deported.

I suspect that FSU is planning on "extending" her
current hiatus indefinitely, as a weaselly way of cutting ties without being SEEN as cutting ties. They're gambling that they can thread a needle between the CA state govt (who will freak if they can her ass), and the public at large who would rather see her fired. I forsee a lot of fail in this strategy, most likely by provoking Trigglyprof into legal action against FSU after she tries to come back to work.
