6 GPS isn't always spot on.

I use Uber a lot and I always have to keep a sharp eye out on where the driver is heading because the GPS fks up so much. Just yesterday I took an Uber ride - (had a female driver for the first time ever) - and the GPS had her turning the wrong way. Luckily she caught it but usually I have to tell the driver - um, we're going *that* way not *this* way.

Peeps flavored beer? No way...

28 Peeps-flavored Peeps only get away with it because what other flavor would they be? There's no reason to make Peeps-flavored anything else. Plus they come in that predator-warning coloration so if you eat one, it's nobody's fault but your own. What happens when they start looking like real food? This could be worse than Tide pods; at least those won't kill you right away.

Back when the earth had not yet fully cooled, I got my haircuts from Antonio - a North End Boston barber. I would purposefully let my beard go for a few days so that I could have him shave me with a straight razor. He did the whole megillah - hot towel, warm shave cream, smell good stuff at the end. Heavenly.

Now I go to a tatted up *stylist* in a womens salon where the girls dish everybody and everything. Im an over sixty white guy - totally invisible. I didnt think I could blush anymore.

I was wrong.

Easter is a wee bit early this year, between that and coolish weather, the dogwoods aren't blooming yet, but the grass has taken off.

Does your brother work at a kitchen and bath contract house? I believe he was in charge of my three-day update that had me showering at the state park for three weeks.

And in December I found the hole he made in the furnace room (behind the furnace) to reach the pipe he hadn't secured before putting up the tile. I discovered the loose pipe, the stopper not working (which led him under the house where his assistant realized his welding job was leaking), and finally the fact that he didn't grout the top of the tile (or even trim the mesh).

And the man is still employed.

The thing about Peter Gabriel is, he wasn't any less pretentious and prone to massive ego than anyone else, but he just happened to have some real artistic genius.

If you look at his career, both during and after Genesis, it's filled with a lot of crap, around the stuff that is brilliant.

Collins is just a guy who knew how to milk the marketplace. I don't hold it against him. I know some people who are old enough to remember the Genesis transition, from Gabriel to Collins, probably view it differently, but I had to go back and discover Genesis, when they had purpose and meaning, because I only ever knew them as a pathetic pop band.

220 Speaking of "not my America", yesterday SpaceX launched 10 Iridium communications satellites. It was the fifth such launch. They carry a rocketcam on the second stage to observe the deployment of the satellites. It's basically a GoPro camera or similar.

The Federal agency NOAA ruled that they had to end their webcast as soon as they reached orbit, because NOAA has authority over "Earth imaging" carried out by non-governmental entities.

Of course, Russia, China, Japan, India, or anyone else could launch a rocket with a rocketcam, not to mention actual spy satellites, and there isn't a damn thing NOAA can do about it. Their ruling only applies to American companies.

A different flavor of Christian, I don't know which. She mentions converting fairly often, or at least she used to.

Posted by: hogmartin at March 31, 2018 11:27 AM (y87Qq)

270 i'm of low religious thinking i presume, i kinda do lump Christian to Christian even with their religious arguments, etc. same mashiach i think?

271 She grew up in Glastonbury CT so I always assumed she was the WASPiest possible denomination there is.

Posted by: hogmartin at March 31, 2018 11:30 AM (y87Qq)

272 hog, okey, yeah,, so i imagine she would be thinking in her tradition this is an actual holiday also.

Posted by: willow at March 31, 2018 11:30 AM (eaoOY)

273 hog, k, i got it.

276 Offhand, I would guess that Ingram's week off coincides with her kids' spring break. Last week was ours.

My own impression is that Ingram is better being interviewed than interviewer. But, no doubt, others have other opinions.

277 Ingram is a part of the cohort on the right that's not on the trolly. Depending on corporate advertises and progressive-controlled platforms may mean short term profits, but it's setting you up for a big fall.

Same, growing up in Grand Rapids MI. There are two functionally identical denominations of Dutch Protestant there that physicists can only distinguish from each other in purely theoretical terms but who have their own churches and schools and colleges and very politely loathe each other in a friendly neighborly way.

280 skip, come help me when you're done! i look at the mess and freak out, i know i can figure it out, but having to do it by myself .. well srsly i'm just not trained for this crap.

283 Willow, plumbing isn't physically hard but takes practice. There are new options in piping connections besides sweating joints. Its a matter of cutting joints and slipping them together.

286 I'm not sure I find this funny: NY Post

A violent immigrant who humiliated federal agents by escaping custody at JFK Airport in a taxi three days ago was nabbed Friday afternoon sipping a cup of coffee in a Chicago Starbucks, law-enforcement sources and his barista told The Post.

They left out the word illegal....

289 " The one plumber has a BS degree, probably from some shit college and he discovered he made more money just doing plumbing, and paying off his student loan."

I know a Ukrainian guy like that, he continues to "attend" school so that he can keep his student visa. Otherwise he will be deported. Excellent work though.

291 " So I'm not familiar with poly pipe stuff which
seems more user friendly anyone here can clue me in if i can use it with
confidence?

Posted by: willow

I'd avoid the poly and go with PVC. PVC for drains is easy, but watch some you-tubes first. I used PEX for hot/cold water. I sweated a few copper pipes but not that confident in it. Larger supply lines from well I used 1 1/4" PVC. 1" PVC inside in main lines might be good, not sure on that. And there are different grades of PVC.

I've never had problems, but am not a plumber that could really give more refined answers. (schit runs downhill, but some slopes are better than others ... you might find an old guy with a backhoe to dig for a septic and foundation much cheaper than contracting out of the phone book. Some of those guys have done it 1000 times, assuming you are going to build in your pine forest)

293 Way late, but since I started it...

That's a 20 yr.-old Steyn piece--maybe he's mellowed. I didn't know Collins was an Alamo patron--big bonus points! His newer Motown covers are pretty good.

Sting is talented and smart. I saw him do a Crossroads with Vince Gill that was decent. "Fields of Gold" is a great pop song. However, he lost big points with me for doing "Insh'allah" at the Bataclan reopening, basically a Islamo-"I Hope the Russians Love Their Children, Too". Wrong place, wrong time.

294 I cannot believe 11 companies caved to that shitweasel Hogg and his cohorts over a butthurt tweet.

It makes me even more concerned about the country. I mean, how stupid is your CEO to fall for this? A teenager who got his feelings hurt?

This isn't about the actual gun issue. And do they realize that most of the people making calls aren't their customers, and probably still live at home because they are in high school, and they are just getting off on their power?

I mean, omg!! It's over a guy's hurt feelings. That's how they are deciding their advertising? And their company's image? If I was on their Board of Directors I would be furious. It calls into question their leadership's decision making abilities...and sanity.
