I'm working towards getting out of this job, at least. I have a girl whom I am training. My long-term plan is to get her comfortable enough to do a day by herself (while I'm here as backup), then a day completely on her own, then two days and then a week on her own. If she can do a week on her own and feels comfortable and there are no complaints, then I'm quitting.

My life is more than half over and I haven't accomplished jack. What I want to do is stay home and write. I wish I could make a living from my own writing, but I can't. A regular column gig would be a dream job.

There are people who repair and collect these old radios. YouTube has several channels of how to repair, etc. But I'm sure they don't do it for free. At least they can be repaired and not thrown away like all modern electronics. That radio probably is an easy fix for them, but they usually have to replace many of the parts, as capacitors and resistors don't age well.
