Maryland School Resource Officer Who Engaged and Killed School Shooter Almost Certainly Saved Additional Lives
He likened this to claiming that police are completely ineffective in stopping murders because murders still happen. Sure -- but fewer, you dummies. Unlike another school resource officer who recently made news, Officer Blaine Gaskill rushed towards the sound of gunfire and engaged the shooter in "less than a minute." Two students were "severely" wounded before he got there, but Gaskill shot and killed the shooter even as the shooter was firing upon him. The Party of Science is really exploring the studio space in postulating that this kid, had he been left alone, would have just stopped and not shot more kids. Strangely, this deranged little corpse now has a memorial page on FaceBook asking people to "celebrate his life." By the way, Scott Adams also uses his "non-expert amateur profiling abilities" to profile the Austin bomber in that clip. He says the bomber is "probably white," which I agree with -- or at least I'd agree with the idea that he prefers to attack black victims. Serial killers usually target victims of their own race but I would imagine that bombers don't have the same psychology. There's usually a sexual hatred/sexual vengeance component in serial killings, with the serial killer exacting a symbolic vengeance for the people in his life who he feels have wronged him and spurned him, and usually these victims are the same race as the killer. I don't know if this is even close to true of a serial bomber. There's not a sexual vengeance kind of angle here; the bomber is killing remotely. There is no need to be close to the victim to see the victim's pain. So while, if these were ritualistic serial killings, I'd guess the killer was probably black, I wouldn't say that in the case of a serial bombing. I'd say he has a grudge against black people, and is probably white, though he could be black, too (also nursing a grudge against his fellow black citizens). I think people are over-reading the fact that two white guys were injured by the tripwire bombing. A tripwire blows up whoever steps on it. In this case, it was white guys, but the bomber wouldn't have known that. I'm guessing he was white and decided it was too dangerous to poke his white face into black neighborhoods now that the city was roused to alert about a bomber, and so retreated to an area he felt he blended in better, the area around the hiking trail. (Which I think a commenter said was a whiter area.) The people whose houses he specifically went to place bombs on their doorsteps were black, so I figure those victims were specifically chosen, and are being taken by the police as the bomber's preferred victims. That's who he's most interested in hurting -- the tripwire bomb was set because he's interested in hurting people generally, but didn't have any specific target in mind with that one. On the other hand, one could say the bomber, like a serial killer, as just leaving bombs he knew well and therefore felt comfortable in, which might suggest he's black. (Or: a white guy who lived for a while in these neighborhoods, of course.) Police haven't said yet who these new FedEx bombs were addressed to. Obviously if those were addressed to non-black victims, my guesses would change. Update: The sixth recent bomb in Austin, this one an incendiary device left at a Goodwill near Brodie, TX, is believed not related to the previous series of spree bombings.Comments

Maybe they all were to be delivered by him/her and when that was blocked (which the bomber didn't anticipate for some reason) they switched to actually sending the pkgs by common carrier.
Not caring if the bombs went off in the sorting area or maybe they were all built to activate on movement after a timer and they didn't want to rewire them so they sent them through the normal delivery process and his timing was off.
It's hard to predict an irrational mind.
I'm surprised they're using a public means tho as this makes them more likely to be caught. Especially since they've multiplied and the more they do it the more likely they get caught.

Of course CEOs read mail. They have staff open it and they bring things of importance to their attention. So if he was getting a large volume of mail directed to him, he would be made aware. Much more so than Twitter or e-mail.
You address to him, and put Personal and Confidential on the envelope and it goes directly to his executive assistant.
Because so many people use social media these days, letters are much more rare and count for more. Same with phone calls.

Getting it to work is probably not hard, it's getting a precise burn rate and proper grain size and all that. I have a bunch of KNO3 in the basement somewhere for charcuterie, I'd just need carbon and sulfur. If you just want to blow something up, sure, but I use it in a Pennsylvania longrifle, so I care more about precision and consistency.
I'm really just complaining because it will take a day trip now to get more rather than just running up to the next exit.

Maybe military but I don't see anything he's done that requires military training. The only military thing he demonstrates is *some* very limited nerve in doing dangerous things, but this guy doesn't really even seem that ballsy to me compared to other criminals.
In this age of Al Qaeda and ISIS online magazines, the information needed to build a DIY bomb has never been more available.
The tripwire thing is easy. I have books on survival and bushcraft that show you how to do that. Actually they show you how to make snare traps where the tripwire is just one part of the trap.
I can't say he's not military but it's not like he's doing things that non-military people can't.
I also think he's not super-brave or else he would have stuck with his original M.O. Going to FedEx seems like a dumb way to change his M.O. that will wind up resulting in his arrest or killing.

Trump is getting impeached one way or the other.
Either Mueller reccomends charges to the DOJ, ie Rosenstein, who in turn will recomend them to congress which will start the impeachment process
Or
Trump has had enough, fires the lot of them ala Saturday night massacre, whoevers running congress, Dem or Republican doesnt matter, starts the impeachment process.
Impeachment was baked into the cake.

It's a possibility. I suspect kills are at least half the driver, but there is something of an amateurish aspect to this and a persistent opportunist approach. This may be more about the bomb itself and any sort of aftermath, kills coming somewhere on the the spectrum from "don't care" to "Well, that's a bonus." This guy even without a lot of sophistication, could be racking up more kills than he is.

i admit i've never set one but I know the basic scheme and it doesn't seem hard to me.
attach one side firmly to an unmovable thing like a tree.
Stretch taught across ground and attach other side to a moveable thing like a small stake in the ground.
Now attach a string from the bomb that will ignite it to the moveable stake in the ground.
when the stake gets yanked, the cord gets pulled, bomb goes off.
Like I said, I've never set one but I don't see where one would need a lot of experience setting this.

The guys hit by the tripwire bomb were injured, not killed. It wasn't a very effective bomb.
This just doesn't scream 'sophisticated expert bomb-builder" to me.

It's just a brand of real black powder, not a substitute like Pyrodex. If you can get another brand of FFg and FFFFg black powder there, it's probably the same thing.
