I've never considered myself a "so-con" as such, so certainly the idea that (horrors!) Trump was something of a horndog in his younger days is not a surprise. After all, here you have this guy, who is not bad looking, plus he's a multi-millionaire so he has all these hawt women throwing themselves at him (after all, there is no more powerful aphrodisiac than having lots of money). And he's not going to make the most of this? Don't be silly.
And what the Dims can't seem to wrap their brains around is the fact that it was not his (Clinton's) boinking of Monica that got him impeached. Had he simply come clean about it up front, it would have been a nothingburger. But no, he lied about it, under oath, and got nailed as a result. Clinton was no different than Trump in that he'd always had a reputation as a skirt chaser, even before he was elected. But since he lied about that one incident with Lewinski, that will, for all time, he his sole legacy as prezzy. Deal with it.

It was a terrible car. Poor gas mileage, handled like a tank with broken treads and the seat were uncomfortable. But it was what the 1970s Ford company thought was a sports car, so "winning" if you were doing lots of coke.

The 70s were horrible. Some good music, a lot of utter crap music. A few good movies, but mostly terrible. It was a time period to endure, not enjoy. I don't really know what happened then, it was like the culture just lost its way entirely and turned into bright orange shag and gigantic lapels on leisure suits. The interior decoration was ghastly, the food was terrible, everything was ugly and tacky and miserable.

It took a lot of coke to get through the 70's and my friends and I were up to the task. I had an apt in NYC, on 56th, while they were building the Trump tower. In the late 70's there was so much coke around, you could get a bump just by cleaning the bathroom counter.

Quad was actually pretty cool, a precursor to surround sound. My brother actually had a quad stereo and quad headphones. It was really interesting when you heard something that took advantage of that.

I just remember that we missed the real shit. We didn't go to Woodstock, we weren't at the Summer of Love. There was, no doubt, better music in the 70s than there had been in the 60s, but then we had to go to the prom when Saturday Night Fever was a thing.

Yeah, if you were stoned enough you didn't notice but Led Zeppelin was HORRIBLE live. Even their live album, which is the best of their performances, is just crap. They were so stoned and drunk and lazy they would just show up and take a gigantic bowel movement on stage then collapse in a coma.
Queen was good live, though, so was the Who. Floyd supposedly was too but they didn't tour as much.

Most of the really great purely 70s music was in the disco era with Talking Heads, Dire Straits, bands like that. The guys getting college radio airplay while disco ruled the top 40 radio stations and AOR stations were stuck in the late 60s.

We could play outside, ride bikes, play war, tackle football etc. We had freedom that todays kids have no concept of. I think being a kid then was still pretty cool.

I don't know if you meant that in jest or not, but the original Rollerball, with James Caan, is not only a good movie, it's got a very subversive storyline with an uncanny amount of foresight. I watched it again recently, and I found myself shocked to see that so much of it was starting to look not like fantasy, but prophecy.
Start with the bit about major corporate powers being in control of all sources of information, and controlling access to this information to their own benefit. And the part about incredible across the board social pressure being put on anyone who decides not to conform to the what the Powers are telling him to conform to. And finally, media existing only to keep common people uneducated and satisfied with spectacle, for a population with no remaining morals and no deep beliefs in anything.

Very wealthy people get rid of nuisances such as porn stars who try to finagle a photo into a big payoff by threatening to go to the media by giving them money in exchange for a non disclosure agreement. I don't believe it is a particular great strategy, but just like other nuisance lawsuits that companies settle because it's cheaper, people like Trump do this also. They consider part of doing business as themselves as a brand.
An arbitrator last week already told Daniels and her lawyer that the NDA is valid and stays in place. What Daniels wants is to be able to make up whatever she wants as a story to be able to run around strip clubs and proclaim she was the President's consort and for $25 bucks, you can see why. Before she really starts to look like miles of rough road.
At some point, I'm hoping the Pres and his lawyer start suing her well used ass for defamation.

Hell yeah. My first car was a 1968 GTO, and it was $350. Second car was a 1971 roadrunner, that was $600. 3rd car was a 1970 roadrunner, that was $400. 4th car was a 1968 Roadrunner with a stoooopid fast drive train, and that was $700. I couldn't buy a rebuilt engine for any of those cars today for less than what all 4 of those cars cost.

1965 through 1975 was the Golden Decade of Rock Music. More new music and genres got explored during that time than any other span of time.
The Beatles were doing concept albums. The British Blues invasion was in full swing. Flint MI's own Grand Funk Railroad was one of the biggest bands in the world. Progressive Rock was on radio with bands like Yes and ELP. The Beach Boys, The Stones, The Monkees (don't laugh, their latest release is pretty good.), Funk (Tower of Power), Jazz-Rock from Chicago and Blood, Sweat and Tears, Zappa was doing something, although we're still not exactly sure what it was, something to do with weasels and apostrophes, The Beatles broke up and all started their solo careers...
What a great time for modern music.

I was an oddity among my peers as a latchkey kid in the early 70s. But we were all free to walk in the woods, bike for miles, play in the park, walk to the store, choose our friends and hobbies, etc etc.
Soon the other Moms had to work to keep up with inflation. This was the beginning of a routine latchkey existence for kids that quickly transmogrified (through parental guilt and fear and, I think, perceived opportunity by anxious parents to give one's kid an edge over the new "orphans," into the over-supervision we know today.

New York in the 70s was pathetic. In the early 70s the city basically went bankrupt. Back then, you could buy a place on West End Avenue for a dollar - people wanted to just get rid of their places to relieve themselves of the monthly maintenance bills. No one wanted to live in New York.
It was right at the end of the major problems in New York City that Trump Tower was completed. WHile everyone else was fleeing New York, or going bust with the 21% prime rate, Trump was building. And that building, the Trump Tower, ended up becoming the most expensive residential building in AMerica - the first ever to hit $1000/square foot.

Trump was being carpet bombed by all these Allred Bimbos who were claiming everything from being grabbed by Trump at a golf tournament, to him having walked in and stared at naked Miss Universe pagent contestants in a pagent dressing room to another claiming he gave her a kiss on the cheek that was unwanted(horrors) to Daniel's friend saying that Daniel's told her that she had a one night stand with Trump after some charity event they were both at. Daniels denied it, said it didn't happen.
Then we find out that Trump's lawyer paid the skank $130,000 and requested she sign an NDA. What for , we don't know, because it is an NDA. Trump said either right before or after the election, that he and Daniel's were involved in working on a project back then (have no idea what, movie, documentary, charity, etc. ) and that is how he knew who she was.
Now after months of denying she had any sexual relationship with Trump, her lawyer is claiming they had a sexual relationship. Despite an NDA in place in which they were not to disclose any kind of relationship details( business, etc. ) . While she has a book coming out, and she is putting it out there once more on a strip club circuit.

There is a somewhat retro movement now to give up all the material stuff and stay home and raise your kids. I think the whole latchkey thing depended upon believing that you should be better off than your parents, which was born out of the baby boom years after the war. Now I think we have seen the damage that occurs when you let somebody else raise your kids while mom is out making the big bucks. It isn't the stuff that gives your kid the edge in life--its the time. It is a nice trend and one that may pay dividends eventually.
That said, it is easier to raise your kids with money than without.

The bicentennial was a wonderful time, no matter who you were, you were
part of the celebration and fun. Only the really bitter insane commies
hated it (the ones with the loudest voice in the DNC now).

You're right, I remember that Bicentennial Summer, that was a lot of fun. Celebrations, concerts, fireworks everywhere. Sure there were problems, but most Americans still loved America then.

We made the decision years ago when our first was born, to not have the newest house, newest cars, vacations and eating out all the time. Instead of having my wife keep her full time job. My daughters have never been in daycare for one minute, my wife worked part time when she could to help with bills but she works her ass off. Our kids are still teens but they are damn good kids. Not saying that's the only reason but I've never regretted it.

My normal MO was to get buzzed once or twice a year, whether I needed it or not, then let it grow back out.
Couple years back (oh, I guess it's about four by now), one of the local schools was doing haircut donations for one of those groups that make wigs for cancer patients and Mrs. Chronda convinced me to donate my hair. I've been growing it back out ever since. For the children, don'cha'no.

When I was a kid, the local department store always had a full aisle of revel and that other brand of models year round.
The PX in Stuttgart had no-name plastic airplane models in plastic baggies for a dime apiece. I built so many of them.
There was a big grassy field on base (Robinson Barracks). For the model rocketry class in 7th grade, I painted my rocket exactly the same shade of green as the grass. Didn't realize my mistake until after I launched it.
I also built one of those Star Trek model rockets (the big-ass Klingon battle cruiser). Never managed to score engines that could launch it (the teacher for the class had to file a bunch of paperwork to get us the puny engines for our class rockets).
