I've never seen a shareholder proxy where I could vote on a company's policy on guns, gays or anything else that does not involve the finacial side of the company.

The one near us (for certain values of "near") is a favorite RV stop. Got big parking slots, a dump station, lots of eateries nearby. The RV demographic and the Cabela's demographic overlap heavily anyway so it's just good sense, like Walmart letting truckers idle overnight.

Education is a classic service enterprise that has no business in the government sector. Almost impossible to think of a problem with today's education that wouldn't be fixed almost immediately by relegating education to the private sector. And that - IMO - includes school shootings; if School A protects its students better than competing School B, which is going to succeed, and which will be in Bankruptcy Court?
These people know what they're doing, and we still don't get it. Maybe Betsy DeVos and Donald Trump get it; hope they can do something, but it's probably far too late.

I think I've told the story about how I went out one night to run to the store and it was cold and sleet/rain/ice and nasty and I had a flat tire and I went to get the jack and realized that I, an independent, strong, self-actualized woman, had AAA for the express purpose of making them do it.
When the AAA guy got there, he was TICKED. Not at me, but at the guys who put on the tire. It took both of us more or less hanging off about 10 feet of rod to get the lug nuts to move they had been impact wrenched on so tight. He went on and on about how what if I was out by the side of the road with no cell service and couldn't get the tire off the rim, which there is no way I would have been able to do that, and he gave me his card to call if I ever had problems. Sweetheart of a guy.

I kind of get the teens not changing their own tire, just because the
jacks that come with cars now suuuuuuuck. My husband drives an older
Volvo S40, and when they had construction on the highways near his work,
he had 3 flat tires in about 6 weeks. The first time, it took him,
like, 3 hours to get the tire changed. The second time, he got a friend
to drive him to Walmart and got a decent hydraulic jack and then fixed
the tire. He has it in the trunk, just in case.

Which is why all auto users, and especially new drivers, should practice doing a tire change at home in the driveway. So they know what to expect. If the jack and lug wrench are crap, throw them away, and buy more substantial ones from an auto supply store, even if that sacrifices a little trunk space.
Also know where not to change a tire, like on the shoulder of a freeway, for instance.

less hanging off about 10 feet of rod to get the lug nuts to move they
had been impact wrenched on so tight. He went on and on about how what
if I was out by the side of the road with no cell service and couldn't
get the tire off the rim, which there is no way I would have been able
to do that, and he gave me his card to call if I ever had problems.

Any air impact wrench I have owned, I would not trust to get lug nuts tight enough. I generally use a torque wrench, swung by hand, to ensure the wheels are properly fitted.
Many times, "over-tightening with impact wrench" gets blamed, when "lug nut seized by corrosion in threads" is the real culprit.

Gun dealers have been given discretion on who they sell firearms to.
The ATF backs that up and I think a FFL license may have things to say such as that they can refuse to sell a firearm for any reason at all. check that gun shop and range that won't allow Muslims to buy or shoot. (how you tell someone is Muslim is another story but sometimes you can guess)

Ruined a rim by wallering out the lug hole by tightening the lug nut all the way thru it trying to get it loose.

Just did it two days ago with my daughter. Biggest problem was she not strong enough to loosen the lugs. I'll admit, it was a little tougher than I thought once I tried.
I'm going to have to get her a lug wrench extension for more leverage.

But it might make a change in "what sort of person" decides to teach.
And I just want the rumor to get out there that if a teacher signs the refusal form, there will be a quick look at that person's mental health profile to find out why, just the same sort of look you'd have for the volunteers. Just a quick look, mind you, to check for crazy.
You could see some significant turnover in the school employment rolls.

Just had a lengthy email chain with a local sportsman's (gun) show that knee jerked (under a lot of pressure) to ban Ar-15s from the show and claim some highroad in doing it. Pointed out that in a time of war you can be sympathetic to some collaborators (they are under protest pressure and issues with the fairground that hosts the show) but at the end of they day they still get their hair shaved and become outcasts. Good luck keeping your show when all that are left in the state are Fudds.

My 84 yr old mother has one for that reason.
When she first decided she wanted a gun for home protection, that was absolutely the last kind anyone would have thought of. But she had trouble with shotguns and handguns --- recoil, her shakiness/weakness, arthritis, etc.
In desperation my brother let her try his AR-15 and it was .....okay. Okay enough to allow her to practice enough, then to like it and get good at it.
