The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

"911, what's your emergency?"

"There's someone breaking into my house. Could you send the Broward County Sheriff's Department to water my garden while I kill the intruder?" Jesse Kelly

Quote II

Substance is not the strong suit of the Left. Leftists tend to isolate one component of a policy issue, ignore the broader context, history, and consequences of the larger issue, and use and abuse a national tragedy to exploit their agenda. Using political human shields is the cherry on top. This is why they never want to discuss the broader history of gun violence and gun laws in America but instead keep a myopic focus on school shootings while hiding behind the victims. Daniel Horowitz

Quote III

“I think you should probably make it more difficult for people who aren’t mentally stable to have guns, and maybe there should be some … I just honestly feel like if you lose the right to bear arms as a citizen, then you know what I’m saying, it’s easy to enslave. It’s easy for the government to enslave people when they don’t have the right to bear arms.” T.I.

Quote IV

Walter Williams.

If you missed the interview of Prof. Walter Williams with Mark Levin, dig it up. It's great. Wonder if we could get it shown in schools everywhere?

*****

Well, well, well. No wonder why Nancy Pelosi thinks $2,000 in a tax cut are crumbs. She has a net worth of $87 million. Government work, good work if you can get it.

*****

Do you think this guy is a Moron? Handy guy builds upsidemobile.

Mechanic Rick Sullivan spent six months and $6,000 building this upside down truck from the parts of two separate vehicles. The street legal car was created from a 1991 Ford Ranger pickup truck with a 1995 F-150 pickup truck body placed over the top—upside down.

This particular science project didn't turn out so well. You're not my father!

A teenage girl allegedly discovered her dad was not her biological father after testing her blood type during a science lesson.

The girl, said to be studying at California State University , apparently announced to classmates the man she thought was her dad was in fact her UNCLE after her mum had an affair.

The shocking incident was publicised on Twitter by Anya Hettich, supposedly a fellow student at the US university.

According to Anya, the girl questioned her professor in a biology lecture after her blood type did not match those of her parents.

Don't worry about having some drugs before leaving Vegas. You can leave them behind. What drugs happen in Vegas stay in Vegas.

Las Vegas is kind of the perfect haven for recreational pot smokers. It’s a land of hedonism that encourages natives and visitors alike to indulge their every whim—otherwise known as, well, “Sin City.” Gamblers who win big can light up a celebratory joint, and those who lose big can smoke to forget about their financial woes for a while.

There’s just one thing you can’t do with weed in Vegas: take it out of Vegas.

Thankfully, Las Vegas’ McCarran Airport has devised a solution for smokers who bought a little too much product and can’t take it out of the state with them. The airport has installed 10 large, green trash cans for travelers to dispose of their prescription and recreational drugs before hopping on their flight

NSFW Embracing the uniqueness. The man with two penises.

The anonymous man realised he was different from a young age, with his parents suggesting he kept his secret from school friends so they didn't get jealous

NSFWA little music. Not quite spot on but close.

We are doomed.

Many more teenagers than previously thought may identify as transgender or gender non-conforming, a new study in the journal Pediatrics suggested. Only about 0.6 percent of U.S. adults identify with a gender opposite their birth sex, and previous studies showed about 0.7 percent of U.S. teens do so as well. The study published Monday suggested that the percentage might be closer to 3 percent, however.

Tesla: Musk Fought The Law (Of Physics), And The Law Won

On the flipside, engineers at an independent ‘competitive benchmarking” company, Munro & Associates, based in Auburn Hills, Michigan, didn’t have equally as nice things to say in their assessment of the Model 3. Other outlets published Munro & Associates’ remarks, which were all compiled in a YouTube video, with comparisons to build quality from a “1990s Kia” resonating most. Although Kia is doing great now, back in the 1990s, its cars weren’t worth much praise.

Once upon a time you could buy one Kia and get the second free or for a penny or such thing. Probably can't with a Tesla.

Oh-oh, Special Snowflakes and our modern healthcare system is in trouble.

Increasing stress and a lack of motivation among healthcare staff could result in hospitals having to shut down in the wake of a major incident such as flooding or an earthquake, according to new research published in the journal Procedia Engineering.

The research, led by Anglia Ruskin University, examined studies from across the world. It found that the capacity of clinical and non-clinical staff in hospitals and clinics to deal with incidents such as floods, earthquakes or other natural hazard is severely limited by a high workload and challenging targets which result in high levels of psychological stress.

The ONT Musical Interlude

February 26, 1932, Born on this day, Johnny Cash US country singer, songwriter who was considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. Although he is remembered as a country icon, his songs spanned other genres including rock and roll and rockabilly and blues, folk, and gospel. This crossover appeal won Cash the rare honor of induction in the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. During the last stage of his career, Cash covered songs by several late 20th-century rock artists, most notably 'Hurt' by Nine Inch Nails. Tonight's Public Service Announcement: Free Pancakes Tuesday!
Tuesday is National Pancake Day. While on the surface maybe not a holiday worth remembering, this year IHOP is offering something you might want to pencil in on your calendar: free pancakes.

The International House of Pancakes is offering customers a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes between 7am and 7pm this Tuesday, February 27 at its locations in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Guam, and Mexico.

Eat the pancakes. Don't eat the Killer Rice.

IN 1877, JAPAN’S MEIJI EMPEROR watched his aunt, the princess Kazu, die of a common malady: kakke. If her condition was typical, her legs would have swollen, and her speech slowed. Numbness and paralysis might have come next, along with twitching and vomiting. Death often resulted from heart failure.

Holy Shit! Now it's used for camouflage. Genius Award Winner.

Officers in Corsicana, about 55 miles (88 kilometers ) south of Dallas, were investigating a report of a theft at a grocery store on Wednesday when they attempted to subdue a female suspect and take her into custody. Police say they placed Shannen Martin in the back of a police cruiser where they say she intentionally defecated in her pants then hid a crack pipe, 2.3 grams of crack cocaine and a Valentine's Day card in her excrement.

A little girl with a big heart. Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

"This morning, during first period, my kids could tell that I was a little off. When they asked why I wasn’t acting normal I explained to them that my wife's father had passed away this weekend and that I was worried about her. They all said they were sorry and then we got started on our work. While standing at my door giving hugs and high fives at dismissal to 2nd period one little girl put something in my hand. She told me 'This is for your wife. I know it was real expensive when my daddy died and I don't really want ice cream today anyways.' I wish the world would pay more attention to children. We could learn a lot from them."

127 *sigh* Today has been a day. My wife went to the local King Soopers grocery today to do her shopping. While she was putting her bags in the back of the van, some low life scum sucking lizard got out of his car, walked over and grabbed her purse from the shopping cart and jumped back in his car. She was hollering and beating on his car, and that attracted a lot of attention, but he was able to drive away with her purse. Fortunately, she had her license and debit cards in her hip pocket, but he got away with two credit cards, her SS card, Medicare card, cell phone, car registration, insurance cards and other assorted items.
Thank God she wasn't hurt or injured. She was pretty shook up by the time I got there, but not hurt.
Spent the rest of the afternoon closing bank accounts (he got away with the savings book and checkbook) and setting up new direct deposit for our pension and social security.
Had to put on a credit freeze with the big three. Trans Union and Equifax were pretty good. Experian sucked balls. Their four authentication questions had only one correct answer. Another was close, her cell phone number but it was off by one digit. The question they asked about when our house was built wasn't close by a decade. Then they said that they couldn't verify our identity and that we would have to mail a request with a police report. Crap, by then the little fuck could wreak all kinds of damage.
It's been a day, let me tell you.
I'm just grateful to God that my Mrs. Old Blue is good. Shaken, but good.
Sorry for the rant.

I rea done of those articles. While it was really fraudulent that some of those companies liked to throw in unwanted results as "less than 1%", just to piss off customers, the stories about the inaccuracies, in general, were really blown out of proportion. There were results that were 10 or 15% different (though basically the same) and the article made it out to be wildly off the mark.

I would never do any of those tests because I don't trust those companies with any of my information, nonetheless the articles, in their mad desire to show how awful the results were actually showed that they weren't too bad.

I think it was food poisoning, since I feel quite a bit better now. Still, I've rarely in my life vomited that violently.

Let's just see that if what I just did came out of a gun, Dianne Feinstein would already have introduced a bill to ban it.

There's a not insignificant rate of paternity fraud and cuckolding

Not only that, but their methods of determining anything about you is highly suspect. For example, what does it mean if they tell you that you are 10% French? What is their baseline for being French? Turns out, it is not what it was to be French 100 years ago. Rather, it is what is French today. But, France is an ethnically diverse country today. Using today's France as a baseline means a diverse baseline.

To be clear. I am not one to get worked up about ethnic purity or anything. I just prefer to deal in facts, not phony science.

If you send a sample into each of the companies, it is highly likely they will all come up with different results. What they are doing is not rigorous science.

284 Good lord people are so fucking dumb when it comes the topic of: POT

Was there anything in that article about how little pot actually gets left in the green bags ?

Here's a tip for you (maybe a couple):

People going to places like Vegas to buy legal, recreational weed are very unlikely to be buying "just enough for the weekend". They likely have a pretty good idea when they buy an 1/8 oz of weed that they're not going to smoke that in a day or two. Also, knowing this fact, they likely have enough intelligence not to have it on them when they attempt to go through airport security, and, in fact, very likely will have found other means of transport back to their abode in other states where it is not so legal.

Yeah, I know, you got a good chuckle out of that idiocy. But in case you're still unclear, for every ONE person dumb enough to need to dump their weed in a bag at the airport - there are 100 that either put it in their suitcase, or shipped it home.

Re: Genius Award winner from Corsicana. Kind-of Par for the course. Corsicana really is a great area, overall. Outside the city itself, there are some very remote places. And it will deliver this type of action- Like the following that took place about 20 years ago, as relayed by one of my contacts there.

One genius was renting a 'house' out in the sticks. The house (broke-down trailer is accurate) was known for dealing drugs. His alarm system was parrots in a cage on the porch to alert him if the police were there. They alerted him but did not work out well for impeding the State Troopers.

BTW: In 2003, The Columbia Space Shuttle left a large debris field over Corsicana (I was there that day just prior to the accident). Russell Stover Chocolates and Collin Street Bakery (The original in downtown) are it's most famous and delicious businesses...

347 The House dems number about 192, and over 150 of them are OK with this initiative to erase autoloaders.

The bubble they live in is much like the one that the activist Parkland kids are in. They think they have it all on a tipping point and now is the time. A lot of them are delusional and think they can do it, but most of them see it as the biggest wedge issue they've ever seen, as a way to win both the House and Senate this fall.

And with that, they can do it for real, and maybe even give impeachment a try.

Look where the media is today. They are mostly breathless with excitement over this. Listen to NPR. The TV headlines are showing the logos of the many dozens (and it's growing) of companies that have "stood up" to the NRA.

Win or lose in the House, this bill will be the news for a couple months or more, and the media will do nothing but shout it from the headlines and chyrons every news day.

We'll see GOPers getting on board with it. I know my Senator, Corey Gardner, probably cannot wait to voice his support. He knows how his state is polling, and it's against guns.

Posted by: Old Blue at February 26, 2018 10:42 PM (gEvQ

It seems to me I saw a TV show last year some time where the company did just that. His DNA was almost a perfect match for someone that committed a murder but the guy was provably innocent. The cops still believe one of his relatives committed the crime. Supposedly, those companies changed their policies after that and no longer turn DNA over to law enforcement. Not sure if I believe that.

As for me, I gave my DNA to Uncle Sam in 1990. They are supposed to be able to use it for one reason and that is to ID me if I got blown up. But they couldn't answer me when I asked what happens to it when I retire. i know it's in a database somewhere. Uncle Sam never throws anything away.

It's an option. Who knows? Someone looking to go the pot shop and buy more weed? Basically, he got nothing except my spare prescription glasses, my wife's inhaler, and a flip phone that's already turned off. Oh, and a pocket calculator and a bunch of pens that my wife has jacked from several different establishments.

If she got the whole 25% from one person, then it does seem unlikely that she wouldn't know about it. But, she might have got little bits from many more distant relatives that altogether added up to 25%.

For "special", in my extended family I have found a several dozen out of wedlock births (parents later married, though), one (unsolved) murder by stabbing, a dozen or so folks who were deemed mentally defective, one guy who served time in prison, several suicides (usually by gunshot), one woman unknowingly married to a bigamist (she found out after he died and was denied rights to his Civil War pension) and several other oddities that escape my ability to recall at the moment. Many, many others, however, who weren't "special" but struck out on their own, married, raised families and made a living and name for themselves. How much "special" do you really need, anyway?

I think that's pretty much true for any singer who is doing more than staying on the beat. The ones who are poets. What Roberta Flack was talking about with Killing Me Softly (which she didn't write).

But, I think, that isn't so much about the singer as it is about the person who wrote the lyrics. Lyrics that can bring complex images and ideas to mind with just a turn of the phrase. The singer still has a job to do, to give the performance that allow the lyrics to come to life. But, the power is in the words.

I am intensely jealous of those who have that writing talent.

I'm pretty sure they're only doing it to please their base. There's an awareness among the politicians in DC that the last time a serious gun control bill passed, the Dems got hammered in the subsequent election. As a result, they haven't been serious about it since. Instead, it's merely used as a wedge issue to attack Republicans.

They know that the Republicans will never allow it to pass, but hope that they can use it for fundraising and the like.

440 one fun little factoid that's come from genetic research, and this is from the serious scholarly kind, not the 23 & me kind; it's become apparent from studying genomes inside family groups that roughly 10% of all children born are not the children of the fathers who claim them as their children.

What's even more interesting is that this number hasn't changed much over time. Even in what we popularly think of as more "moral" times, there have always been secret lovers sneaking into the bedroom when hubby wasn't looking.

447 junior, correct. However, reviving this toxic squirrel ("gun control!") poses hazards for a few House Dems and a material number of Senate Dems whose districts/states are competitive, reddish, red, and/or Trump states. As you of course know.

And given the clownish ineptness the Dems have shown, politically, for a long time, there's a non-trivial chance they won't be able to shoo the toxic squirrel away completely by November.

Opposition to tax cuts, support for hysterical "gun control", and obsessive concern with illegal aliens. A dream national political agenda - for their opponents.

Morse, artist and inventor of the famous code; his father, who wrote the first American Geography textbook in 1792; and his father, Obadiah Morse who was one of Washington's aide-de-camps at Valley Forge. And then there was Gen'l Hobart, who spent a year in Libby Prison in Richmond, escaped, and went back on duty as one of Sherman's staff officers during the march through Georgia.

But my favorite comes from the Scots side, a Scotsman named Robert Pettis who emigrated to the states about 1720 or so. At the time of the American Revolution he was 80 years old, but he joined the Continental Army along with his sons, because, as his sons later recounted, "He had waited his entire life to kill some damned Englishmen, and he wasn't going to miss his chance now!!!"

456 My Mom did the genealogy thing twenty years ago, mostly through the Mormon Library, iirc. It turned out it was about three centuries of Hillbillies on both sides. The eye-talian side was from a village so remote, the Nazis never even bothered with it. Too small, too high up and too many Dagos. That was probably a good idea. Family Lore is full of bad tempers.

My gramps got kicked out of the confessional by the Priest just before his wedding. Apparently the Padre asked if he a virgin. He was a professional musician in his late thirties. Apparently there was shouting and detailed references to other members of the flock.

469 Tom, that's really cool. George Washington and I share a grampa, so the generations it takes to get back that far makes me a very distant 8th or 15th or something? cousin twice removed. or some such.

Another distant cousin was Clark Gable's housekeeper. When she died, the movie star paid for her funeral.

My Danish great Grampa came to this country when he was 19, with his twin brother, in 1907. They argued on the dock when they arrived, and didn't speak for decades.

My French ancestors fled when the Edict of Nance was revoked. smuggled their sons out in wine barrels.

476 @447 And given the clownish ineptness the Dems have shown, politically, for a long time, there's a non-trivial chance they won't be able to shoo the toxic squirrel away completely by November.
-----------------

And Pelosi cares about those Pee-Ons *why*, exactly?

*grin*

On a more serious note, as Insty is fond of saying, the Dems have to be "not-insane" to beat Trump. And they can't even do that. Pelosi is clearly losing it, but the Dems can't eject her because she apparently the one in control of the money spigot. Schumer's more competent, but even then seems to be having trouble making the mental shift to "The party not in control of anything." And much of their base is rabidly convinced that the US voters agree with them on just about everything - despite the fact that they just got hammered in the elections a year and a half ago.

This will likely lose them some seats, as you noted. But it'll also shut the base up for a bit, and keep them out of Schumer's front yard for a few more weeks.

511 A little boy with two penises just walked out of a locker room shaking his head "Those poor bastards."

Chuck Schumer looks like the cantankerous old woman bit that Earnest did. He cried on cue, for the camera, because he thought it would be "a moment".

The weakest point in a terrific movie The Manchurian Candidate, is the Soviet plan. The mole would melodramatically pick up their intended martyr, and give a speech "the Kremlin has been working, off and on, for twelve years". Of course it might have been known to the author that the moment of drama would steer a weak and supercilious country, but not a strong one. Not the Ron Swanson of nations.
Waiter: Sir, that dish is for twelve people.
Swanson: I know what I'm about, son.

The media may want their big moment. But in the meantime they will thrash about clueless, and piss people off constantly. And maybe that's what they want as well.

Cathy Newman of Channel 4 got her big moment. She didn't even know she had done poorly, even with the flak, until The Atlantic et al had described it as such. Clueless bitch. The meme "So you're saying we're lobsters!?" is first meme where the third panel is usually a silent reaction.
It is fifteen times as famous as she is. And one tenth as famous as he is. So there's that.

518 The thing about the science class/parentage reveal...I'm calling bullshit.

That's also the plot of a 90s comedy film starring Whoopi Goldberg and Ted Danson called...I think...Made In America.

Whoopi Goldberg's daughter finds out her dead dad, Who died before she was born, wasn't her real dad after her high school science class does a blood test thingy and she realizes her result is off.

Whoopi Goldberg reveals she got impregnated by way of donor sperm after her husband died and it's revealed that Ted Danson, who plays a well known car salesman, was the donor.

I remember it being kinda funny and cute, but when I first saw that story I was like, "Oh, fuck that!" I might be the only person in existence aside from the writer that actually knows that movie.

Read also, if you will the autobiography of Justice Clarence Thomas.

"My Grandfather's Son".

VERY well worth your time and expense.

Track down and buy the hardcover. Nothing less will suffice.
