4 Good Morning Morons; today is Saturday, February 24, 2018. On this day in 1917 The U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom was given the infamous Zimmermann Telegram, in which Germany pledged to ensure the return of New Mexico, Texas, and Arizona to Mexico if Mexico declared war on the United States. This provided an impetus for the US to enter WWI.

6 CNN broadcast the name and address of a Trump supporter on TV so she is now being harassed to death by Anti-Trump asshole trolls. Turnabout is fair play, she should get the name and address of prominent CNN propaganda shills like Jake Tapper and publish them on Facebook and every other internet site she can get access to.

8 Fox gives a litany of missed chances that federal and local authorities of could stopped the FL school shooter. Yes, the only thing that the liberals want is more creeping gun control that leads to outright gun confiscation.

So what has happened to Broward County, FL? Over the past 50 years the steady influx of locusts has turned it from a Republican stronghold to a Democrat shit-hole with government much like this incompetent sheriff's department. This county went for Scankles by a wide margin even while FL as a whole went for Trump.

9 Fox News trots out one of their fake Republican former military guys to call for more gun control and a ban on so-called assault weapons. Anyone who thinks Fox is on the right is sadly mistaken. They started out with a tilt to the left and they are now just like the rest of the MFM.

Fox News strategic analyst Lt. Col. Ralph Peters (Ret.) appeared on Fox Business Network on Friday to explain why he supports a ban on assault weapons.

Here we have the other end of the spectrum, incompetent child protective services delaying taking children from an insane monster because they did not have 'enough evidence'. In cases like this I apply the 100 year rule. What would people have done 100 years ago in the early 1900s. Ans: Tree, rope, asshole, some assembly required.

I was expecting a hour and a half movie that the first 60 minutes would be good, then they throw shit at the wall for the next 30. Pretty damn funny and entertaining through out though. A couple goofy things, but no worse then any other movie. If nothing else, catch it as a rental.

I find a lot of nutrition stuff on Amazon worth watching. Don't get me started on how bad food has become in this country. Like an ex-smoker kind of annoying once I get going.

The epidemic of obesity is not some coincidence. Nor is poor brain functioning due to lousy nutrition. There are 61 names for sugar on food labels, some you'd never recognize. Sometimes they'll use four or five different names so that 'sugar' doesn't appear as the number two ingredient. But if you add up the sucrose and high-fructose corn syrup, barley malt, dextrose, maltose and rice syrup, guess what? It's the number two ingredient. Almost half the product.

Okay, I'll stop now.

The corporate world has become powerful and buys legislators and regulators that then might tend away from putting the consumer first.

But I still suspect overall the food is less the problem, and kids sitting at their computer or texting all day, instead of sports or work or hobby ... is a huge part of the problem.

And the rage and hate being pumped across media can't be healthy either. Then there are the legal and illegal drugs prescribed or easily available ... quite the toxic soup.

It takes a shitload of activity to burn through that many calories.

I've known officers in Podunk, WV. Minor, basic investigations into violent crimes by one person against one person can take months. There's no way they done jack on this shooting, and I'd wager it's like the plea deal. Destroy/suppress this evidence and let's never talk of this again.

The DOJ has to get involved in this.

65 Americans obsess about food too much. What vegetable or fruit is the MOST healthy of them all, what ingredient will cure your ills, etc. For example, people read about the Mediterranean diet and decide they will drink more wine and eat olive oil, and then they will be healthy. They ignore eating three times as many vegetables and living in a calmer, happier environment as a factor.

The point is there is no simple fix, no magic ingredient. Eat a variety of healthy foods, enjoy them with others you care about, and don't obsess about it. And yes exercise, but do it with activities you enjoy. JMO .

This isn't science, it is history.

Real food is on the outside, the inside aisles are Sugar (and Salt) City.

I know what your saying, and to a large degree its true. "Whole" food such as meat, dairy and produce are on the outskirts of the store. But you can find some good stuff on the inside too. Dried beans and peas, honey, rice, flour for baking your own bread, oatmeal etc. You just have to walk past the processed stuff to get to the good stuff.

I think he's always been one. I think he originally ran as Tea Party but quickly did an Ayotte as he caved to the race hustlers in the Saint Traytable case and flushed normal procedures down the shitter, creating a ridiculous spectacle before the jury quickly saw what happened and returned an innocent finding. IOW a typically gutless Repuke.

It seems like a high school girl is determined to lose her virginity on prom night. Dad, mom and some other chuckle heads go all in to prevent that. Somewhere along the line, they are at a party that HS kids are at, and the only way they can get the info of (I guess) where she'll lose here virginity is to for the one dad to have a chugging contest against one of the kids. Of course the dad is all in, so Hellz yeah!!

Then she notes she said "white mothers", because the are thousands of grieving blacks mothers in Chicago ... and you don't see town halls for them, do you?

Thousands ... well a few news ones every weekend, but it is a strong point that they push the white mothers and a mass shooting for gun control, but ignore the plight of the black Democrat voting mother that might want some action on their side of town (which is always run by Democrats).

of course the MSM gets to stage manage her sound bites, framed around their spin, so most viewers will not make the connection, but will learn to hate Dana.

97 The Zimmerman cable was supposed to have been intercepted in Mexico, and the code broken in the US, however the Brits got it by violating the neutrality of the American Trans-Atlantic telegraph cable that passed through British territory.
The SIS tapped the cable for German communication to the Americas, and broke the code in England. When they provided it to their contacts in the US government, they brought a copy of the coded cable in and used the key they had developed to decode it "to show that it was a valid document" but mostly to allow the disingenuous claim that it was "broken in the US"
A later copy was gotten from Mexico, I believe, but it was the initial intercept that gave information that there was something to find

A wonderful example of counter espionage, or manipulation of US policy by foreign governments.

As regards to dealing with any expansionist urges on the part of Mexico, it would have been cheaper to take Veracruz for the fifth time.

104 I don't think they were cowards. I think they (the left) do this on purpose. They want chaos. Bottom up, inside out, upside down, top down. They want the civil society destroyed so they can usher in totalitarianism. They desire chaos because it preceeds the revolution.

The Sheriff loved that school shooting. He got national attention and furthered gun grabbing.

Until we understand the final solution the left is aiming toward, we won't understand how to stop them.

Reminds me of how Muhammad conquered Mecca and Medina. He first made everyone feel bad about persecuting the muslims, then when they were mired in guilt, he conquered them by force.

105 Little-Known Hockey Fact: Prior to 1968 there were no tie games in minor league hockey. If a game was tied after regulation time, the teams would play a 10 minute overtime period. If the game remained tied after the overtime session the game would be settled in a shootout. This usually took place in the parking lot behind the arena. Prior to 1955 players brought their own weapons. In an attempt to standardize the process, in 1955 standard issue Webley revolvers became the official sidearm of hockey. Survivors on the losing team received medical treatment without out-of-pocket expense in the public Canadian healthcare system.

I actually think the teacher made a valid point. Good guys with guns have been shot before in these situations. Not a deal breaker if people actually want to make things better (not going to say "solve the problem"). Most of the anti-points have been bad, at least that one is a think to consider. BTW, remember when the left said no pilots should be armed after 9/11? There answer is always the same even if the question changes.

* White-hispanic Cruz's diverse name is apparently a big part of why no one at the school, social worker, sheriff, or FBI level stopped him in the months and years leading up to the shooting.
____________________

Yes, the DOJ under racists Obama and Holder implemented a bunch of idiotic policies to get local schools to stop arresting "too many" black and hispanic students for their crimes, on the theory that the only reason so many blacks and hispanics end up in prison is because of institutional (i.e. white) racism, and not due to the fact that blacks and hispanics commit many more, and many more violent, crimes than whites and Asians.

So the DOJ was conditioning the award of federal grant money on schools' reducing their arrests of black and hispanic students. Schools responded to the incentives created by the DOJ by ignoring, hiding, lying about, etc., the crimes being committed by black and hispanic students (so that they would not have to arrest said criminals and thereby generate arrest statistics that would keep them from getting the federal money).

That's why the Broward deputy at the school didn't do anything (except hide) when the shooting started. He wasn't at the school to stop crime. He was at the school to help hide and cover-up student crime, especially minority student crime (that's also why he refused to cooperate in the earlier investigation of Cruz).

Cruz was apprehended because a police officer saw him wearing the same clothing that witnesses said the shooter was wearing. If I remember correctly, it was a Coral Springs officer -- the same agency that was the first to go into the school building.

It has become very apparent that the Broward County Sheriff's Office is corrupt, cowardly and incompetent. All that flows from Sheriff Israel; no wonder he is trying to deflect blame.

killing 17 people at Parkland's Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Wednesday.

151 Dagny. Glad your diet is working so well.
WW may not be the best but it does give me a basis for cutting back portions and dialing back the sugar intake. It works for me and it's taking off the weight. My main problem is bread. I love bread, lots and lots of bread. WW doesn't leave any room in the diet for it.
The free foods on WW are mostly eggs, boneless/skinless chicken breast (which I steam) and lots of fresh vegetables and fruits. The chicken is bland but I incorporate it into recipes with lots of spices. It's a point system. The zero point foods added since the late 80's really aren't zero since the daily points were reduced to account for them.
I guess what I'm saying is use what works for you personally. This works for me and my spouse.

Let me clear this up for you:

Unarmed teachers and students sitting ducks for every psychopath with a gun that liberals have let roam free? = not acceptable risk

Possibility that trigger happy cop might actually shoot an armed teacher in an active shooter situation? = acceptable risk

by the way ~ how will the cops be able to shoot the armed teacher by accident when they are standing outside in a parking lot having a smoke break?

176 111 I've lost 57 lbs since July. The formula that works is zero added sugar, limiting other sugars to 15g, gross carbs under 50, net carbs under 20, a lot of healthy fat, no grains, no starches. Only water, no carbonation. No alcohol. A shit ton of non-starchy vegetables. Fruit only cucumbers, peppers, kiwi, blackberries and raspberries, avocado. Fructose is almost as bad as sucrose. Eat enough calories, but not in carbs. No powders, shakes, or processed food. Excess protein turns into glucose too, but most people don't get enough. First week is hell, then easy sailing. Weight falls off.

This is pretty close to what my wife and I did. I lost 55 lbs and she lost 85 lbs (and another 30 after started going to a gym). We didn't include as much fruits. Also we capped our caloric intake to about 1500 calories per day using My Fitness Pal app.

Another thing was about 45 minutes of moderately fast walking a day. Get that heart rate up to 120 beats per minute for a certain amount of time.

Also we weighed ourselves every morning, this helped us not to be afraid of monitoring our progress.

Observing Lenten abstinence and a protein-heavy low-carb diet is something of a conundrum. Follow the modern practice and it doesn't feel like much of a sacrifice; on Friday I just go ahead and have the carbs. Follow the old practice of no meat at all during Lent and it's impossible to work out. Not a happy feeling either way.

223 Hadrian - I don't come from a faith tradition that observed Lent. I have started since marrying Rev. I don't subtract something. I look for ways to bless someone each day. For instance the other day I took myself out for breakfast. The bill was about 5 dollars, and I gave the waitress a 4x that tip. Not to puff myself up - just giving an example. Not eating certain foods seems odd to me, but like i said, I don't come from that background. It may be very meaningful to others who have. No disparagement intended.

225 From a 60 Minutes segment on CBS News about Columbine:

Police were at the school right away. Within five minutes of the first shots fired, the sheriff's deputy assigned to work at the school was in the west parking lot. He exchanged gunfire with Harris who retreated into the school. That deputy was soon joined by six other policemen who took positions around the building. None of them entered the school, where Harris and Klebold were heading toward the library, shooting in the halls and throwing bombs into the cafeteria below. They walked into the library and began shooting students.

Among those killed there was Sophomore Kelly Fleming. Her parents, Don and DeeDee, say that the police should have entered the school earlier.

"There was no one in that school that had a gun other than the two killers," says DeeDee. "And no one pursued them. No one tried to engage them."

"For almost 20 minutes she waited. Twenty minutes, that's a long time for someone to have the opportunity to come in and make a difference."

And iirc, there were cops on the scene at the Pulse Niteclub shooting too -- on the outside.

235 For Lent you could try Maultaschen. A meat filled dough similar to raviolis. I had them when I visited Germany a number of years ago

From wiki
In Swabia, Maultaschen are the traditional dish associated with the Lenten commemoration of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. During Lent, Catholics and other Christians are encouraged to refrain from eating meat. However, Maultaschen are humorously associated with these days because the meat in the dish is concealed under the pasta dough and cannot be seen by God. Among the anecdotal stories regarding the origin of the dish, one claims that Maultaschen were created by the Cistercian monks of Maulbronn Abbey for that purpose.[

250 Our church has a medical team in Guatemala right now that, along with other churches, is serving over 2,000 people with medical/dental needs in remote villages. One of the volunteers said it's stunning to see 2,000 people line up peacefully and wait patiently for hours or days to be seen for needed treatments. Our team consists of everything from our pastor, to a married couple who buy and prepare food for our team, an interpreter, and medical pros. They've been doing this for years.

My husband says that when/if he ever sells his business and retires, he'd love to go as an interpreter. I'd love to volunteer with meals.

They do have to have security. It's a dicey area.

252 Grammie,
That is a lovely approach to Lent. Growing up Catholic, we were supposed to sacrifice something. (For kids it was often candy or something like that.) The idea of a positive deed each day of Lent is great.

Posted by: JTB at February 24, 2018 08:31 AM (V+03K)

253 I actually think the teacher made a valid point. Good guys with guns
have been shot before in these situations. Not a deal breaker if people
actually want to make things better (not going to say "solve the
problem"). Most of the anti-points have been bad, at least that one is a
think to consider. BTW, remember when the left said no pilots should be
armed after 9/11? There answer is always the same even if the question
changes.

The answer to the question is the good guys hold their carry IDs ( note - I said IDs not 'permits') over their heads the same way undercover police officers identify themselves, and they lay down their guns when told to do so. Also the students will identify their teachers to the cops. Any other stupid questions?

I'm in his diocese and can vouch for that. Doesn't pull punches on gay marriage and other issues either... what's even more amazing is that 20-25 years ago this was one of the worst dioceses in the country, run by a bishop who was allegedly soliciting male prostitutes and engaging in financial funny business as well (that bishop is now deceased).

"Qualified" is an opinion. But, these "men" either are or are not NRA. It's not an opinion.

And, if they aren't NRA members, then all the activists who blamed the NRA, while LEOs hid in the parking lot, need to be confronted with that information

Posted by: qzy at February 24, 2018 08:48 AM (0dfVr)

257 1. Times are getting very close to violence.
2. Whether you like it or not - you need to concealed carry.
3. If you carry you need concealed carry insurance.

I have USCCA insurance. It covers not only - self defense/defense of others - use of weapons, it also covers you if you have to kick somebodies ass physically in the same situations. It covers bail and criminal defense. It also covers civil suits for your actions and compensates you for the time you have to spend in civil court. A million in coverage is $30 per month. Also you get the really excellent Concealed Carry magazine as part of the deal.

https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/

I believe there are other options, NRA insurance, Legal Shield. but this is the one I like. Your mileage may vary. And no, I am not part of their program to compensate for people that are brought in.
