Billy Graham Dies at Age 99

Of course, the left being the left, there had to be some performative viciousness. Lauren Duca, who works for Teen Vogue, the magazine that published the teenager's guide to anal sex, decided she wanted a little attention today.

By the way, Lauren Duca -- supposedly a feminist -- named her column "Thigh-High Politics."

I've noticed that these feminists -- so fearful of the Male Gaze (gaze, I said) -- sure seem to market themselves nigh-exclusively with come-higher titles and bedroom branding. Jessica Valenti's books have titles like "Full Frontal Feminism" and "Sex Object" -- I guess she's totally afraid of the male gaze, guys. (I said gaze.)

What's next for Lauren Duca and her tittilating-title act? Will she pitch a "news" show to Hulu titled Lauren Duca's Sultry Vagina? Will she launch a new book called Face Down Ass Up Feminism by Lauren Duca?

If you guys are so insistent that your sexuality is your own and not for the delight of the male gaze (GAZE, I said!), why are you so relentless in branding yourselves with sex?

Oh, and don't say the patriarchy in the publishing world is forcing you to. The publishing world is 80% young upper-middle class white girls who are uptightly feminist, just like you.

88 RIP.

The new season of the Crown had a nice portrayal of Billy Graham. Implies the Queen was quite taken by him and they possibly became good friends.

Being a show written by leftists, she seeks spiritual counsel from him after she is reeling from the revelations about her uncle in the Marburg Files, and she is left dissatisfied. But to be fair, she gave him no particulars! I'm sure had she told him that she found out her Uncle was a Nazi sympathizer and traitor to the British and French people, responsible for the deaths of hundreds if not thousands, Graham would have given her a more nuanced answer than "Jesus says to forgive everyone." Could not leave out a small but benign Christian dig there, could you show. Ah well.

108 I am Catholic, so Billy Graham used to be a "meh Protestant southern preacher ~ not much there" kind of guy to me. But since reading up and getting older and listening more (and having an asinine, false commie pope inhabiting St Peter's Throne in place of our actual Pope to deal with myself) I had found that Billy was more of a theologian than I gave him credit for, and a good man, nay, a great man, because despite his position he seemed to always be, not humble, but normal. And to think he ministered to or met and spoke to (and obviously gave advice and guidance to) every President since Truman? Very impressive.

May the angels guide hin to the side of the Lord may he be with him in eternity. Requiescat in pace.

Just found this news article (from September 5, 2017) of which I was unaware: "In 'Unbroken' movie sequel, Billy Graham will be played by his grandson, Will."

Charlotte-born evangelist Billy Graham will be portrayed by his own grandson, Will, in an upcoming movie. Its focus: How Louie Zamperini -- the Olympian and POW whose life story was told in the best-selling book, "Unbroken" -- embraced Christianity after returning from World War II.

Filming on "Unbroken: Path to Redemption" began Tuesday at Universal City in southern California.

My answer tends to be "I don't know". I didn't believe in any gods once, and the Holy Spirit guided me to a revelation--sometimes more driving like cattle. I tend to follow that up with "You could beat me to heaven for all you know."

I once had a college instructor who told me that as a young agnostic, I didn't know what I would be when I was 30. I smirked and shook my head I was NEVER going to be a BELIEVER again. He was so much more right than I. It only took me until 27.

So that's what I would tell him or her.

getting older and listening more (and having an asinine, false commie

That's the new Jacobinism.

The Jacobins drank in Rousseau. Since every man was good, and society is the only thing that makes him bad, all of society had to be gotten rid of--especially Christianity! So they overthrew the king and put in the Committee of Public Safety. Then they started in on their societal structure, and taking down nobility. "The Mountain" was adamant that all the nobles needed to die. The Girondins were not so certain---sooooo all the Girondins were beheaded after the last noble was executed. Thomas Paine--who had long been respected--was put in jail and awaiting execution for being friendly to the Girondins.

He would pray with her and tell her that God could take away her anger and angst and bring her peace instead. I think The Shat is liberal but he stays apolitical in public. He just recently dressed down a dem candidate in a Texas who had posted a photo of her and him taken at a comic con as part of her campaign . He told her to take it down immediately. She responded that it was not put up to indicate an endorsement but that she was making a point of her nerdy interests. He responded again to take it down. I don't think she likes the Shat anymore if you read her apology tweet.

I gotta wonder how much longer a movement can last when they go after
Billy Graham on the day he dies. We have to be close to peak crazy.

--

I fear we're far from peak crazy, unfortunately.

I heard early this morning of Rev. Graham's passing. My first thoughts were how insignificant I felt in the shadow of such a great man. How godly, righteous and good he was. And how I pale, so flawed, in comparison. The world was a better place with him in it, and he is now home in eternal peace.

Later on, I read those tweets at Twitchy from this Duca woman. I was frozen in disbelief at her words. I don't think I've ever read anything so vile. So evil. I simply can't fathom the unhinged hatred. I know there are those people (many here even) who find the grace to pray for the likes of her and those like her. I find that...so difficult.

He criticized her for using words that she obviously didn't understand in some article she wrote in Teen Vogue. She was being a total b!tch, natch, and Tu-Ca finally lost his temper and told her that she needed to stick to writing about what she knew: namely, thigh-high boots! He cut the mic on her while she was calling him a male chauvinist pig.

He sliced like a hammer and it was truly a thing of beauty watching him peal away her pretensions and show her to be semi-literate.

islam in a bad sector of a mid-east town.

Never understood Hitch's motivations.

Posted by: auscolpyr at February 21, 2018 07:54 PM (pzA2L)

=========================
IIRC, the incident took place in Beirut in a neighborhood run by a fascist gang. Hitchens saw the gang leader's face on a poster, and to the horror of his party (who begged him not to do it), Hitchens tore it down and began to tear it up, "began" being the operative word. The gangsters rallied quickly and Totten's group got out just in time.

523 Billy Graham, in this world, was a stalwart defender of the phrase "One nation, under God". He and Archbishop Fulton Sheen were two Christian witnesses that spread the Word fearlessly throughout the land.

Raised pretty much as a Scots Calvinist/Presbyterian, but my family regularly watched Archbishop Fulton Sheen's program. Two good God fearing men!

525 As a kid I kinda had a reflexive hatred of Billy Graham, because that's what you're supposed to feel.

"That guy? Oh, he's evil."

"Why?"

"Because wayciss, and hatred, and blah blah blah"

... then I committed the grievous, heinous act of actually, you know... listening to Billy Graham once.

People live in a damned bubble too often. It's very easy to do, especially if you've never been shown otherwise, and you've been trained in school like a Pavlovian test subject to respond a certain way to certain people.

The opposite holds true for some figures as well.

Some "hero of the people" turns out to be an unmitigated bastard, but shut up peasant, or so i'm told.

This is one of the main reasons why Twitter has been deleting conservative accounts by the thousands the last few days, and anything on YouTube bringing up serious questions about the shooting--especially "crisis actors"-- has been taken down and accounts suspended.

I have no grand conspiracy theory to offer, nor am I prone to invent one. But as I said yesterday this entire MSM Florida shooting "narrative" we've been fed is looking dirtier by the hour.

554 As usual, I'm posting way down here.

Billy Graham is home with the Lord. Although he was exemplary in his conduct, he would have been the first to declare that he fell far short of perfection. His trust was in the righteousness of Christ accounted to him. Christ died in his place, the message of the cross.

"We are of good courage, I say, and are willing rather to be absent from the body (the people of God on earth), and to be at home with the Lord. (2 Cor. 5:8 ASV)

558 Today we mourn the life of Billy Graham, not a saint but a vessel, not perfect but a servant of God, not for everyone, but for millions he was the one that God used to draw them to Christ. Today we remember a life and I hope we recommit to sharing the Gospel in our preaching, witness and living so that others say, I want what you have, what you live, Christ Jesus.

I am Catholic, so Billy Graham used to be a "meh Protestant southern
preacher ~ not much there" kind of guy to me....

For years, Billy Graham caught flak from hard-shell Baptists because while his faith was Baptist and his Crusades always preached the basic gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ, they explicitly refused to attempt 'stealing sheep' from the Catholic Church or even other Protestant denominations. He stressed that new believers needed to follow up by integrating into a local Christian body (or re-integrate if they had lapsed from one), and coordinated with local clergy where his Crusades were taking place.
