Humid and cold here alongside the swamp in northern Delmarva Peninsula. We returned to the same cabin that we used last year for the monthly camping trip. Bad mistake, as roads in and out of location are a mess. Supposed to start raining and snowing shortly after sunset. In the meantime, we shall endeavor to persevere.

What is DMT? But actually what put me in the hospital was a drug called Tamsulosin.. it was one of the drugs the urologist prescribed to shrink my prostate enough to urinate. It has a side effect of making you dizzy. While I was in the dr's office I fell in the floor.

They packed me down to the ER in a heartbeat. Now I am back on the catheter and pee-bag until I go back for surgery.

After watching the Love Boat, I had thought the drinks were free. Never saw any money exchanging hands. So, I was making plans to one day make a cruise and drink the entire day.
Then a buddy of mine went on one. At the time you didn't just swipe a credit card, and at the end of the cruise you had to settle up. He said a lot of people that didn't quite understand how it adds up were looking at a big charge at the end of their three day cruise.

They were supposed to support the Marines with off-shore fire from their "big guns" that don't have any ammo. They would, if so equipped, be serious long range shooters for the Navy to use in the South China Sea. I have always said that if you want to solve the "refugee issue" (and by "solve" I mean stop stupid leftards in NYC and LA from thinking we should have lots of them) then all the government needs to do is buy some ritzy buildings on Manhattan's Upper West side, or houses in Beverly Hills, and put a refugee family in each room of the structures, except bathrooms and kitchens, of course). That way all those refugees can have access to that wonderful real estate and the American dream and the lefty liberals can enjoy the "diversity" they so crave.

Even if they get their weapons, I'll be surprised if the Zumwalts are ever used except against enemies with little to no naval offensive capability. They're too few and too expensive to risk, and with a tiny crew of about 140 manning a ship the size of a WWII cruiser, their ability to sustain and repair battle damage is suspect.

It's as if the designers forgot that in the question of whether your ship is effective and survivable, the enemy also gets a vote.

When Scalia wrote in Heller that the 2nd Amendment was an individual right - it started a ticking time bomb against all gun control laws: 8 U.S. Code 242.

8 U.S. Code 242 is the Federal law written in 1948 that made all the Jim Crow laws in the south dead letter unenforceable - since it included up to a death penalty ( under certain circumstances ) for any law enforcement persons ( including judges and prosecutors ) who deny anyone their Constitutional rights "under color of any law, statute, ordinance, regulation,
or custom".

Scalia knew that - which is why he was so careful in his section on the 2A being an individual right.

And the automation equipment that allows for a smaller crew requires PMS checks as well as the regular war-fighting equipment. So the labor-saving equipment isn't really labor-saving at all, it merely shifts the timetable of the labor to maintenance periods rather than operational periods.

To be fair, an argument can be made that this is desirable, but I'm not seeing it myself.

I was reading about this on the Air Force amn/nco/snco page on Facebook. Not only did that colonel slap down the First Sergeant, he did it publicly. All that First Sergeant did was remind the cadets that they weren't going to any old university but that they were going to be members of the Air Force and to act accordingly. We have big problems and things like this combined with many other things I see indicate to me that we are not ready to go to war with a relatively equal adversary.
