He said that population decline doomed Japan. And this is where I played Trump card.
OK, I said, Japan's population is slated to decrease 10%-20% by 2050. In that same period, Nigeria's population will double. In 2050, would you rather be a Japanese or a Nigerian.

Right here is where that whole argument goes wrong. NO ONE is talking about "reducing" the country's overall population. We are talking about lowering the rate of growth to a slighly more sustainable number than what it is right now.
p.s. wouldn't brink up Japan when discussing this, they truly are seriously screwed because of their demographics, but their issues are way way different than ours.

That is delusional thinking on multiple levels, as most here know, and just about floors me every time I hear it.
1. Most of those workers will be a net drain on the treasury.
2. If they are actually taxed heavily to pay for an aging white population that will vote in politicians that will put an end to that one way or another. They are not going to be happy about being expected to support people they have been taught are racist oppressors. And since they will be either a majority or a very large minority there will be plenty of candidate eager to accommodate them.
They are to be the beneficiaries of the welfare system, not financiers.

Those creatures became representations of the Gospels even later, but they originally represented the categories of living things. Christians borrowed them for the Gospels, cuz why not? My beloved nephew, who once was a (relatively) conservative millennial suffers badly from TDS. We have gotten along fine since the election because we have avoided politics. But this morning for some reason, he fired off about 20 texts to me bashing Trump. It was like Rachel Maddow was texting me. He said "I won't remain silent any more!" If an online troll said that, I would respond with snark about how the left can't shut up, but I contented myself with observing that he works for a company which has given out bonuses due to the tax cut and if he doesn't want it, he can always send it to the IRS. That resulted in 5 more hysterical texts.
His mom - my sis - is a bit more centrist than I am and hates Trump's tweets but she voted for him. She really liked the SOTU address and I wonder if she said something to him that set him off. Or I wonder if cognitive dissonance is setting in because Trump has had a good first year and my nephew has to fight to hang on to his opinion that Trump is Satan and Hitler and Genghis Khan rolled into one.
It's funny when you read demented trolls online - people you don't know and are glad you never will. It's less funny when someone you love is ranting like that. It's like he simply can't accept that his mother, his aunt and his (now deceased) stepfather voted for Trump. It's unfathomable to him and he thinks he can bully us into seeing things his way. I told him, "nope, you can't."

Yes, I believe that is about the time frame their texts were being gathered by the OIG. And it is likely both Page and Strzok knew about it and they knew what it meant.
Then in July the OIG presented those texts to Mueller. Within a couple days Mueller got rid of them.

.what is amazing to me is that there is no day labor pool at either the Home Depot of the Lowes in Sherman Texas. We had them in both CT and KY when we lived there.

A lot of what one needs to know is how they project. Blacks will be shot on sight, homosexuals are constantly being beaten up, etc.
They know that's what they would do to you if they had the power, so they assume that's how flyover country must treat people. They were getting pretty close to assuming greater levels of control, too.

Because they work for the FBI and they would have heard that information on them was being requested by the OIG.
These were careless people obviously. They spent years texting each other about their conspiracy on government phones knowing they were subject to government oversight. So why did they do it? Because the culture inside the FBI had become so corrupt that they knew they could get away with it, particularly if Hillary was elected.
Trump was a wildcard. He was an outsider who didn't care about tearing down holy institutions. In fact, he pledged during entire campaign to do it.
Yea, I think it finally dawned on them during the summer of 2017 that things had changed and this was a real investigation with real consequences unlike the ones they were used to running like the Hillary email whitewash.
This was being done by an outside body who had had his powers restored late in 2016 by Chuck Grassley and he was going to get the information.

My mother in law was a conservative beacon of light in N. MN. surrounded by mean spirited lefties including most of her family and her husband. They ganged up and mocked if you tried to have a discussion. one son called her a racist because 'immigration'. She was a devout Catholic and was always involved in the church with fund raising, catechism etc. etc. She funded so many missionaries that several came to her funeral. and many others sent flowers. I looked at all the 'people of color' at her funeral and hoped her asshole son was suffering long and hard. Leftism is their family and religion.

.Here is the thing on these special elections, the dems can concentrate their resources on one single election and flood the airwaves with tons of negative advertising while simultaneously pouring big buckets of $$$ into their GOTV project.
They will not be able to do that in November.
Republicans aren't doing that and that is why we are getting these skewed results.
That plus there have been no *good* republican candidates put forth yet so that further depresses voter turnout for Republicans.

In his rant on how Trump beat Hillary he points out that Trump was suggested as one of 3 "Pied Piper" candidates that they wanted to face and were trying to push over the line (Cruz was another one, I didn't catch the third because the relevant doc was onscreen for only a few seconds).
So, yeah, getting soundly beaten in the EC by someone you though would be a pushover (and don't think the activist left didn't have the same opinion) is enough to drive even the most level headed of activists insane. It's the equivalent of Clinton losing the '96 election to, say, Buchanan!

Actually what I do with millenials especially, but it works with just about any dem supporters with a populist streak, is that I NEVER express any support for Trump. But instead I shift and say "yeah he's bad, and look how for years the government has been screwing you! " and if they're young, you can always win by telling them how social security is a scam to take all their money away and give it to old people, and how disability benefits are all for the ghetto rats who never have to work like they do, and then go into all the ways that the gov over the last few years have been screwing them and guaranteeing that they will have nothing. Just aim at making them hate the government completely, and then start in on no matter how they vote, the whole thing is pointless and they can never win and their voting will never make a difference to anything at all.
Pissed off angry people just eat that shit up, it's amazing how far you can go feeding it to them. Things like how the Clive Bundy prosecutors were caught faking evidence it always a good one to throw in "they could do this to you too!!!"
And I figure that even though I know I can never change their minds about Trump, if I can just get them to take themselves out of the game completely that's as good as a win. They're already haters, so it's easy to redirect the hate a little bit.

When dealing with younger people, I prod them to recognize that the getting of wisdom and judgement is a process of age and experience. There are no shortcuts.
I generally start by asking them if they believe that they, by virtue of age and experience, have more understanding and knowledge than some specific person, a younger sibling, relative, etc.
They will *have* to acknowledge this, or the discussion is pointless. Once they have, then ask them why that is. Again, they must surely acknowledge that it is a consequence of their own age and experience.
At this point they will become wary, as they sense that they are being painted into a logical corner, with no rational avenue of escape.
About now, I ask if they would, on the basis of the discussion so far, agree that ignorance is necessarily organic to youth. They won't like that, but you can ask if that *fact* hasn't already been established.
I also point out that it isn't a failing, it's just normal, but having the knowledge that it is simply true, they ought to be very circumspect regarding their own 'wisdom' and their self-assurance of it, because, after all, they are lacking both age and experience.

Angels are non-corporeal, pure spirit. How do you represent pure spirit in art? I assume that you depict your idea of pure innocense. I have no idea how that got started. Worth some research. Maybe has something to do with the heirarchy of angels? angels, archangels, principalities, powers, virtues dominions, thrones, cherubim, and seraphim.
Cherubim, traditionally protected the garden of eden and so would be associated with innocense, hence the "child" symbolism.

The cardinal sin of conservatives tends to be complacency. In the '80's and '90s, a lot of conservatives (like PJ O'Rourke) told us that those silly PC people on campus would be forgotten as soon as grads got out into the real world and made money. Instead the problem got worse.
We tend to think rational people will see Trump's good results and that will be enough. Well, you'd think people would have looked at the results of socialism and realized it doesn't work, but that doesn't seem to be the case now, does it? The Dems understand and harass the power of emotion. Conservatives think people will use common sense and rationality. I remind you: Obama got elected twice.
