The Morning Rant

talking ape.jpg
"I always laugh at that stupid 'Democracy Dies in Darkness' slogan that the WaPo editors bravely started displaying on their front page after their preferred candidate didn't win last year. Do you know what democracy also dies in? It dies in poorly sourced news stories, printing rumors as facts, peddling fake news for clickbait, blatantly biased reporting, non-existent fact 'checking', incompetent editing, jackass reporters writing obvious nonsense that gets refuted within 24 hours, all covered with a thick layer of journalistic hubris and smug. If the media were doctors, they'd be swamped with malpractice suits. But they dish out garbage year after year, and instead of working to improve their product, they just give each other awards and congratulate themselves on their 'bravery', strutting around and preening like they're some kind of damned heroes. Screw them. Screw every one of those ass-clowns."

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Indiana State Police have released new information regarding the crash that killed two people Sunday morning on I-70.

Detectives say the driver of the Ford F-150 was using the alias Alex Cabrera Gonsales.

Police confirm his given name is Manuel Orrego-Savala and he a citizen of Guatemala by birth.

Police say 37-year-old Orrego-Savala is in the United States illegally and has previously been deported on two occasions, in 2007 and again in 2009.

T-Mobile took a different direction with its Super Bowl ad this year — instead of bashing its wireless rivals, the company made a statement about equality.

The one-minute clip — which sold for around $10 million — pans over a bed of babies with different genders and races. Actress Kerry Washington provides the voiceover.

“Welcome the world, little ones,” Washington narrates. “Yeah, it’s a lot to take in. But you come with open minds and the instinct that we are equal. Some people may see your differences and be threatened by them. But you are unstoppable. You’ll love who you want; you’ll demand fair and equal pay; you will not allow where you come from to dictate where you’re going. You will be heard, not dismissed. You will be connected, not alone. Change starts now.”

73 One of the things I dislike about the FNM running stupid lies to try to harm Trump is that they are training folks to reflexively defend Trump against news stories. Down the road, quite likely not until the next 'populist' president in office that could be a bad thing. It wouldn't be so bad if there was a proper amount of pushback from the supposed conservative media outlets and reporters. I don't care if these outlets don't like Trump / cannot bring themselves to admit that they were wrong back in 2016.

They still OUGHT to be vigorously attacking the FNM for every fake story just because the fake stories are a real danger for the country. Were these folks never told the story of the boy who cried Wolf?

102 The funny thing about ads like the T-Mobile one is that they can virtually never work. If you stake out avowedly leftist positions:

1. you'll alienate right-leaning folks outright;

3. you can't possibly buy the love of leftists, who don't even think corporations should have speech rights.

199 I always assumed that the vast majority in the media, despite their leftist leanings still had some common sense and love for country. I thought there would be a point too far that would make them start to wake up and say "enough is enough". The Rosen spying? Nope. Weaponized IRS? Nope. Now a corrupt FBI acting as an SS force against Americans? Nope. I have realized there are no reasonable people in the media. Down to even the local rag or affiliate, those who go into the "news" business are so indoctrinated to leftism, they are the front line warriors to bring about a leftist dictatorship. They have been programmed with a sunshine and roses view of what a leftist dictator would do for "the people" --No starving kids! Free healthcare! Free college! No homeless/poverty! No global warming! That they see all of the bad as simply a means to an end to get to nirvana. There is no bridge too far. They will report on conservatives being shipped to the education camps with a chipper smile on their faces.

I'll say this about soccer. Years ago, I was a huge fan of EPL - Liverpool was my team because it was my dad's team and I grew up watching them. But that was when English men played the game, boys that rose up through the ranks and it was special. When the EPL changes the rules, all the teams were flooded with foreign players, it became very mercenary and frankly, not that interesting any more. My two cents.

My father in law in the 20 years I've known him has never gotten anyone a birthday card, let alone a birthday present. I'm pretty sure he has no clue when anyone's birthday is even. He's hilarious, but I think the fact that he comes home every day is the gift he keeps on giving. He's not even trying to put on a front or anything. Its just how he rolls. My wife says he's been like that forever. He's says happy birthday when he comes in and realizes we're all there for a birthday party. His line is something like: "Is it my birthday again already?" Then he says happy birthday to whoever's birthday it really is.

I turned on the puppy bowl a couple of times last night and yes, they have completely ruined it. It used to be a camera pointed at the playing field with puppies running around on it, a camera in the bottom of a water bowl, and occasional flags thrown when a puppy peed on the 40 yd. line. Now it is constant redirect to back stories of a hundred dogs being driven in a semi to NYC to be adopted, or why the puppies are wearing bandanas, or what Pedigree is doing to rescue dogs, etc.

Steven Tyler is almost 71 years old. When you have consumed the amount of drugs and alcohol he has over the years(I think he's been to rehab six or seven times) it's going to show on your face. Aerosmith has said last summer's tour was going to be their last as they don't want to be up on stage a caricature of what their shows are. Tyler can still run around and spin with the mic stand, etc. but it's got to be a real toll on him at this point.
That said, I really liked his ad for Kia.

272 Ace should publish a post on the New York Times article saying that people are choosing not to have children due to climate change.

They throw in a token Christian family, of course, but otherwise they quote the usual array of leftists - one, who thinks that the Earth will be a sun-blasted hellscape when her hypothetical child is an adult; one who doesn't want her hypothetical child to endure Chinese levels of pollution (hint: the air pollution in China has nothing to do with global warming); and another, who thinks that climate change is going to turn Americans into the equivalent of Syrian refugees, fleeing the United States for drab refugee camps.

What this illustrates, along with things like "transgenderism", is that a key part of the Leftist project is normalizing mental illness. Climate change is just turning into a proxy for the things that mentally ill people have traditionally obsessed about - except that now, people are encouraged to irrationally obsess about this, rather than being encouraged to overcome one's irrational fears.

Of course, one could argue that these are exactly the people who we don't want having kids - but this sort of dialogue is so dominant in the culture that it may not matter - the Left still controls the schools, after all.

---
For a very long time, I confidently assured people that attacks on the FISA applications were sure to be futile. It did not matter that Steele had credibility issues, I explained; the critical thing was the credibility of Steele's informants. The FBI and DOJ, I insisted, would never bring a court information based on factual allegations that the FBI had not corroborated, provided by sources that the FBI had not checked out. I intuited that Steele's name probably did not even appear in the warrant application.
...
Alas, it appears that I was wrong. From everything we have heard thus far, the FBI did not corroborate Steele's informants. Their inflammatory allegations about Trump are acknowledged to be "salacious and unverified." According to the Nunes memo, FBI corroboration efforts were only in their "infancy" at the time the first warrant was sought, and they never yielded anything but "minimal" verification (which may be a charitable way of putting it).

I honestly don't know the answer to that question. I imagine there are a lot without a father present. It would be interesting to find out.

However, there are a lot of fine young men in NFL, with and without fathers, and I don't want to pretend they are not there. See: Nick Foles.

My guess --- and it's just a guess --- is that serious athletes are more likely to have a father around than non-athletes of the same demographic.
And nearly all of them will at least have some powerful adult-male influence in their life --- a coach, a relative.

I specifically said age 20-45 age group for men dealing with young feminists.

Please stop moving the goal posts. Hypergamy is the norm in 2018 and its celebrated and encouraged.

You are ignorant when you are talking about with my generation. And it does nothing to help win culture wars against Marxism.

Hypergamy happens rarely with men trading up for resources with women. Men are providers.

Seriously? How can a man in my generation meet those demands unless he is a millionare. and when you don't meet them you suffer the consequences in the form of cheating and emotional, psychological and physical abuse not to mention withholding sex.

Yes that is abusive on a woman's part. Unrestrained hyoergamy, cheating, and unrealistic entitlement mindset among young feminists is abusive and toxic for men.

This is one of the many reasons men are walking away and the social contract is dead.

So far 3 nitwits are boycotting the visit: Chris Long, Malcolm Jenkins and somebody else.
Radio talk host claimed the Iggles never knelt during the entire season but I don't know about that. I do know Malcolm Jenkins was a driver behind the manifesto presented to Goodell which was promptly accommodated by that knucklehead.
And Jenkins was a fist-raiser.

However, the coach, Foles and Wentz are sincere Christians who don't hide it. They thanked the Lord publicly after the win and a news bunny in the locker room captured Coach and some players reciting the Lord's Prayer after all the festivities and recognitions had occurred.

356 "What Happened?"

Brady wasn't sharp in his passing the entire game. His best deep threat receiver was taken out with a helmet-to-helmet hit. Neither defense played well, but the Eagles D made one big play near the end of the game with a strip-sack that ate up the Pat's time-outs and took enough time off the clock to prevent another miracle comeback.

Yeah...that's gonna leave a mark. But, unlike Hillary!, Brady is going home to a wife and kids who, as far as we know, care about him, and may have another Super Bowl ahead of him. As if to prove your point, the BBC News America includes snippets from its "Beyond 100 Days" program pretty routinely. To the point that I thought that they should put an odometer type thingy in its title to inform viewers how far beyond.

369 Monk - Do buy presents for women, except where it is mutual (birthdays, Christmas). I have never bought a Valentines day gift and have always told those I was involved with if they are expecting dinner out, flowers, or gifts on Valentines day, they will be sorely disappointed. A bit of up front honestly and expectation management will remove a lot of future pain. Also, if some woman wants to withold sex from you in a committed relationship, explain that you will seek it elsewhere then. If you have good hygiene and keep in reasonable shape, you will have no issues there.

The spite of John McCain against all things Trumpian will endure long past its bearer's passing.
