Meghan McCain Leaves Kirsten Gillibrand Stammering: Why Did Hillary Clinton Protect Another Sexual Predator? Why Did It Take You 20 Years to Condemn Bill Clinton?

Gillibrand is right where she likes to be -- on her high horse, knocking over straw-men with her crooked lance -- and getting Polite Clapping from the audience before Meghan McCain asks about some "inconvenient truths."

Though a person of average intelligence would have anticipated such questions long ago, Gillibrand has no answers at the ready.

Maybe that's because no one in the media ever bothers to ask about such things.

Other interesting things: Alleged #MeToo feminist Joy Behar is upset with Gillibrand for pushing Al Franken out; alleged Republican Ana Navarro rides to the rescue and changes the subject to help her flailing fellow Democrat out.

At around 2:25, Gillibrand demands that Trump resign; at 3:25, Joy Behar asks why she chased poor Al Franken out of the Senate instead of just giving him a hearing. (Joy simultaneously wants Trump booted out of office and Al Franken to have his job back; obviously she doesn't bother to explain this, except to say it's an "unequal equivalency," whatever that may mean.)

At 5:05, Meghan McCain sagely notes that Gillibrand is a partisan bubble-head wannabe-cheerleader who isn't hot.

I have a now-deceased relative who was out riding horseback with her husband and infant son. Indians rode up on them. Killed the husband with a rifle, killed the baby by braining it, and she was shot but not killed. She pretended to be dead. They scalped her. She had to continue to pretend to be dead during this entire ordeal.

Maybe I can sell my new and improved Cleveland Indian mascot to them. A scalped woman screaming in emotional pain over her deceased husband and baby.

But they dropped the ball for several decades when it came to immigration. Or perhaps they fell for the left's justification.

I'd probably agree with Moon, although Peart has a lot better nuance (or did).

If rock is just about being loud and obnoxious, Moon the Loon is probably the best ever. Even better than Bonham.

I saw Peart talking about changing his style and how he focuses more on how he holds the sticks and technique than what he used to do which was hit the drum as hard as he could. Dude, you're a rock drummer that's what you're supposed to do. If you won't technique and nuance, go start a jazz band.

228 Illegal immigrants snared by deportation officers have the freedom to say goodbye to their families, a federal judge in New York ruled Monday, ordering the government to release a prominent activist to his family.

Judge Katherine B. Forrest, an Obama appointee to the bench, said the government was following the law when it picked up Ravidath Lawrence Ragbir, the illegal immigrant. But she said there were larger, more fundamental rights at stake that were trampled on.

In sum, the court finds that when this country allowed petitioner to become a part of our community fabric, allowed him to build a life with and among us and to enjoy the liberties and freedom that come with that, it committed itself to allowance of an orderly departure when the time came, she wrote. By denying petitioner these rights, the government has acted wrongly.

Neil Peart is really, really good as a technical drummer, a musician, but not as good as Keith Moon as a rock drummer. The rock drummer is the thunder behind the music, the guy that lays down the beat and keeps them all on time and rolling but also breaks the eardrums of the audience. Posted by: dantesed at January 29, 2018 04:30 PM (88xKn)

========

I think she means the same term is being applied to two different contexts to cause people to think that two unequal situations are equivalent.

So for example, if Trump had a consensual affair (which there's no evidence he did), that is not the same as Al Franken forcibly sticking his tongue down someone's neck and then groping her while she's asleep. And to apply the term "sexual misconduct" to both would be "unequal equivalency". Of course, that's exactly the reverse of what she wants, but hey, some dumb liberal I've never watched.

They take a video of a real-life encounter, and when the main person says something stupid and/or makes a complete jackass of himself/herself and/or is rendered speechless, the "Curb Your Enthusiasm" theme comes in. Some of these are very funny. I've thought someone should make one out of the moment when Trump reminds George Stephanopoulos of his connections to the Clintons, and Boy Georgie visibly shrinks in his seat, rejoinder-less. On this one, you could bring the CYE theme in when Gillibrand starts sputtering.

I know because I play drums and only know a few myself. But I get by.

373 There are a few bands doing a stripped down version of it now. They call it Americana ... or Roots ... but I love that sound.

Yep. I love that stuff. Its about the only music being put out now that I can even listen to. Johnny Cash became a genius in this, out of nowhere. Reinvented himself, just making Americana. Turning songs like "Hurt" and "Jesus Christ Pose" into it. Johnny Cash fills me with awe.

I can't figure out what the concept is supposed to be in Days of Future Passed. I like it but... what is it supposed to be about???

They were awful live. I know that sounds crazy because that was their big selling point, and what they were praised for, but they'd play like 5 songs and jam for 30 minutes between each one. And the jamming was pretty forgettable, but played at 750 decibels.

He put out a series of albums that were concepts, they were all songs around a basic mood, or event, or idea. And he'd put them out one after another, mixing between upbeat and fun then down and bluesy. The man had number one hits in every decade of his career, from the 30s to the 80s. It seems like real genius or great talent too often is tied with insanity or jerkitude. Like you only have so many points to allocate to your character and if you put too many into talent, you have to take them away from sanity or ability to play nice with others.

Reminds me of the movie Mambo Kings. Could have been huge but the leader of the band was a knucklehead. That happens so often to bands. I know a local band called the Blubinos, amazing talent, great songs, killer guitarist and blues singer but the guy is such an idiot he ruined every chance they'd have to be heard outside Portland, Oregon.

461 Going to see Lyle Lovett - I've seen him twice, and I've gotta say he's one of the best live performers I have EVER had the pleasure of seeing.

His albums can be kind of disappointing, because I haven't heard a single one that comes close to the musical experience he provides when he's on stage. One concert was with His Big Band, and it was like watching a coach run a football team - every 4 or 5 songs about 4 or 5 players and their instruments would go off stage, and then others would walk on, and the band would TOTALLY change styles, and then do it again 4 songs later. It was amazing, and fun.

I like Asia, quite a bit. But you can't go into it thinking its made up of members of Yes and ELP etc. Its just a fun pop rock band, and you can enjoy them on that level. 487 Another note about Lovett - we're all used to the stories about musicians being burnouts (ie Ozzy) but because he loves to stand up and tell stories, you quickly find that Lovett has a memory and a wit that is almost unbelievable. He was telling a story about some bands he played with in the 70's, and one of the guys in them was in the Big Band that night, and they got into a little onstage banter, but basically it came out that Lovett remembers every gig he's ever played, by date, over the last 40 years, and he also remembers perfectly every other band on the lineup with him, and their members, and he has perfect instant recall of all of it.

These days I struggle to remember last week.

Some who have followed the thing closely have speculated, or passed on tips, that not just DOJ/FBI, but FISC may be implicated in the FISA abuse. And wasn't the judge who recused - or was told to recuse - from the Flynn case also a FISC judge? Always confuse that and another judge, who recused from the Fusion bank records subpoena case.

In a way, I hope so. From what we know the FISC has more or less acted like the Military Collegium of the Soviet Supreme Court during the purges - they gave almost only "yes" answers to warrant applications. Though, curiously, one of the rare "no" answers occurred at the outset of this crude political hit-job now being exposed.

536 Netflix has been doing better TV than any TV network around(cable or legacy networks).

They have flashes of greatness, but are still finding their way. Their best work reminds me of the golden age of TV drama, back in the Playhouse days when they did stuff like On the Waterfront on network TV.

538 There is always the crazy, outlandish theory that with increasing media exposure, McCain the younger has been forced to do more and more research and legwork to keep up with all the segments she has to do on TV, and in the process of doing so has come to a more conservative view of things all on her own and there's nothing deeper to it than that.

Do we really need all these names? And different spellings for the same name? It's confusing to parents, teachers, everyone. What we need is a simple, government-approved list of names, for boys and girls, with single mandatory spellings.

557 Well since me seeing a movie is as rare as an intelligent utterance by anyone on The View, a movie review. 12 Strong. OK. I kinda get the hollywoodization they did with Gen. Dostum, to make him sympathetic, but of course it's quite far from reality. Less OK with the hollywoodization of the battle scenes, specifically US special forces spraying and praying (almost) - Lone Survivor did a much more realistic treatment of that, don't see why it couldn't have been the same here. Will get the book when I'm through the waiting list at the library.

But my gawd, the previews of other movies. It's gotten to the point where even the *previews* are too long, more than I'd ever care to see of the garbage. Stepping on many many toes here, but WTF with these cartoon/comic movies? I mean, people older than 12 watch them? Astonishing.

So, 12 Strong gets 1 thumb up, so long as it's a cheap matinee price. Which is a yuuuuge endorsement, from this source.
