Get Woke, Go Broke: Grammys Get Political, and Suffer Huge 21% Ratings Fall From Last Year's Show

I think celebrities, like the NFL, have badly misjudged how much people like them or need them.

Let's talk about that Hillary appearance.

Longtime Hillary aide Patty Solis Doyle reveals that Hillary personally overruled the decision to fire the alleged serial sexual harasser Burns Strider. Personally. Patty Solis Doyle took the evidence against Strider, including inappropriate emails, and presented her case for firing him.

Hillary refused. Why? John Sexton speculates she kept a credibly-accused sexual harasser on staff just to avoid a brief one-day negative news cycle.

So that's how much she cares about sexual harassment.

And yet the music industry, which is totes supportive of women and #MeToo, chose to feature this fat seizure-prone hag of a sexual abuse enabler in a jokey tribute.

Nikki Haley -- accused of having an affair with Trump by this cheap gossip peddler -- did not appreciate the Grammys pushing a book which makes such a disgraceful, evidence-free accusation against a woman.

#MeToo? Yeah right.

The NFL ratings fall is significant since the NFL's target audience isn't liberal. But the only people who I've ever heard talk about award shows were gay guys, feminists, and other hard core democrats.

25 Reasons why Grammy ratings sucked:

1) Deliberately stating they on purpose picked "minority" artists over whites for great social justice
2) Boring award shows worn out their welcome
3) The music sucks
4) People anticipated obnoxious political grandstanding and took a pass
5) Disgust at the behavior or celebrities, and wearing a white rose or a "Times Up" tag doesn't fix that

44 Here's the part I just don't get about women like Hillary.

I entered a male-dominated profession starting in the '70's, and I dealt with a lot of sexist nonsense including being told that a company was wary of hiring more women because they aren't reliable, and having contractors call me endearing phrases like "little filly."

I dealt with them one at a time, in my own way, and became quite successful in spite of it all.

That world has mostly disappeared.

Meanwhile, I helped other women learn how to cope with this crap and rise above it.

She did not.

She shat on everyone beneath her and some who were probably above her on the totem pole, and yet she wants to be held up as the perfect power woman.

She is the same shit she doled out along the way. And anyone who claims otherwise is not living in the real world, or is lying and they know it, but they have behaved just as reprehensibly, so they think it's okay.

It isn't.

Bitch can rot in hell for all I care at this point, but I wish she would at least shut the hell up and go away.

I'm guessing that everyone (leftists) who expose themselves to the public adopt a stage name because it makes it harder to dox them. And they do that because it is their intent to be obnoxious and stir up the masses.

I'm not at all sure how they can do that under the terms of government employment with the deep background check and severe vetting those job applications go through.

110 The Grammies were predictably political, which is why I avoided, but this is not the first time they did this. If you recall, in 2014 they had Macklemore preform his nominated "One Love" song which concluded with a bunch of couples - many (or all?) of them same-sex being married en masse.

Yes, they forced everyone in their audience to participate in same-sex marriage ceremonies. Unbelievably political.

169 "Fire and Fury" is acknowleged by the author to be a work of fiction. He allows that parts of it didn't necessarily happen as written, which for all practical purposes means none of it.

The Twitter link shows Haley's objection being rejected by nearly everyone who responded to it, i.e. by a leftist subset of the population. They don't care that the book is fiction, or more pathetically, actually can't tell the difference between fact and fiction.

Trump would have noted the massive ratings decline and called everyone involved losers. I think his is proving to be a superior approach when dealing with these types. And that ratings decline is what really matters. Presumably the Grammys management will persist, and follow the NFL down the rabbit hole to poverty and irrelevance.

The owners of these entertainers plan for us to look up one day and realize we are a restricted minority in our own country. I look forward to that being their fate instead.

295 Instead InBev or ImBev or whatever is going to run ads highlighting their philanthropy. So no need to even watch for the youtube or whatever of the commercials. I hope I don't hear that Shiner Bock is kow-towing to the SJWhiners.

I just saw a commercial yesterday for some socks. They looked pretty nice but the company was spending the whole time of the commercial talking about how they donate a pair of socks to homeless shelters for every pair that is bought. I thought, "The hell I'm going to pay double price for these socks so that I can be buying one for the homeless guy that pokes his ass and then tries to shake my hand as I'm going into the Wawa."

I would have seriously considered buying the socks but once they let me know how much they're ripping me off to boast about how they are socking all the homeless people I was done with them. I wouldn't even look at that company.

If they want to give stuff away then good for them. They can lower the commercial price so they aren't gouging me on socks that are, obviously, 100% too high, and the owners of the shitty sock company can give away all the socks they want to buy with their profits - privately.

Companies that crow about any sort of charity or "conscience" or anything like that are lowlife dipshit companies that deserve to be driven out of business. Even the supermarket bugging me if I want to donate money to whatever their "cause de jour" is really annoys the living shit out of me. Once you add Republican or conservative to a personal description, that person automatically loses all other protected class qualifiers. Plus, they gain an additional stigma of being an intersectional vector traitor.

426 Probably a weird thing with me, but Geddy Lee's voice always grated on me and I have to change the station whenevr they are on.

I can understand that, it works for me, but its not the most melodic. There are bands like that out there. The hair metal band Cinderella had amazing music and blues-driven hard rock guitar but the singer was... terrible. Still good enough for a couple decent songs but that guy should never have picked up a mic. Ruined a great band.

But AC/DC has a horrible, horrible singer, and it just didn't matter because it was just dumb fun songs about sex and whiskey and who cares?

Don't even begin to understand why you did.

If that means hate, then so be it, but I don't think it does.

Around here, calling someone a mohammedan is rather inflammatory, so maybe not do that any more?
Posted by: tcn in AK at January 29, 2018 04:07 PM (7UW64)

I obviously totally misunderstood. I read it as your telling me the original Koran is not yours, and you are a muslim who has westernized and reformed the Koran. I do believe there are good Muslims. We lived side by side in America for years. So I did not mean it as an insult.

The confusion may have come b/c you reponded to a post I made to someone else, and I thought you were telling me there were good Muslims, and you were one of them.

I definitely misinterpreted things horribly.

*makes note: tcn is not a Muslim, but I may need a reading comprehension class*

440 345 "Even a lot of craft beers that market themselves as anti-bigbeer are owned by big beer.

AB owns many craft breweries."

Even if not owned by AB, the craft brewers usually have to play ball with the local AB distributor to get their product in bars and stores.

Posted by: Benji Carver at January 29, 2018 04:09 PM (OD2ni)

I attended a seminar on how to home-brew beer given by two microbreweries here in (Louisville) CO.

I was surprised to learn that AB buys "extra" hops over in Europe and resells them to microbreweries.

Guy giving the seminar said it would be unaffordable for the small breweries to try to get these special hops themselves, and was quite complimentary on AB.

____________

I would say that's true.

I do think U2 was a talented band, but they've always been overly preachy and love to virtue signal.

The weird thing is supposedly they're largely Evangelical Christians, and were something of a "Christian Rock" band early on, but they've decided to channel that into nonsense like gay marriage.

They really haven't done anything of value for around 20 years

They don't even have an album. I also laughed and laughed how male rappers, who have songs singing the praises of bitch slapping hos, won awards. Man, too funny. Not to mention several of the acts were just garbage - I literally couldn't understand a word of what they were singing. Also, hip hop and R&B seemed to be just about the only music shown or celebrated. Also hysterical to watch people talk about their independent, and edgy cultural behavior, all come out and say the same boring things about the same boring subjects.
