House Could (And Probably Will) Vote to #ReleaseTheMemo Today or Tonight

Good.

The president can veto a vote to release the memo (on national security grounds) but he's not expected to do so.

A key House committee is set to vote as early as Monday on whether to make public a classified memo that top congressional Republicans say details government surveillance abuses -- and has emerged at the center of a power struggle in Washington.

Those who have seen the document suggest it reveals what role the unverified anti-Trump "dossier" played in the application for a surveillance warrant on at least one President Trump associate.

While the White House seems to favor the memo's release, the Justice Department has pushed back hard. Sources told Fox News' Catherine Herridge that FBI Director Christopher Wray went to the Capitol on Sunday to view the four-page memo.

According to one source, Wray was asked to point out inaccuracies or other issues with the wording -- and said he would need "his people to take a look at it." The source said the review is ongoing.

But South Carolina GOP Rep. Trey Gowdy, who helped write the four-page memo, said Sunday he wants it made public.

He also suggested the memo indeed addresses whether the FBI relied at least in part on the dossier -- paid for partially by Democrats and the Clinton campaign during the 2016 presidential election -- to apply to a secret federal court to get a surveillance warrant, purportedly on then-Trump adviser Carter Page.

"Commenter," a rando who saw that interview and who probably has several forms of sexual dysfunction, said that Trey Gowdy essentially confirmed that yeah, Hillary's Oppo Dossier was used to get the FISA warrant.

83 If the memo contains what we think, how the entire Russia probe was the result of a smear paid for by Hillary and the DNC, and how the FBI, DoJ, and media are complicit (making info available to Fusion GPS, leaks, etc.), the implications are terrifying for many to contemplate. Was this the goal all along, to cripple the Trump administration with a never-ending investigation? Was Obama involved? Just the links between the government, Fusion GPS, and the media alone could destroy careers and possibly create far-reaching legal entanglement. Release the Kraken indeed!

Why should I believe the spin on this when we aren't seeing the source documents? Not that we can see the source documents, at least I would assume they are classified and the like. But why should I believe how the documents are being presented when I can't review them?

Just because "my side" says it's okay doesn't mean I'm just going to believe it.

Was this the goal all along, to cripple the Trump administration with a never-ending investigation? Was Obama involved? Just the links between the government, Fusion GPS, and the media alone could destroy careers and possibly create far-reaching legal entanglement.

196 alex, as JackStraw and others have noted for some time, a special prosecutor will be required to follow up on the business of the memo.

But this time - contrary to the Mueller case - it will be easy to appoint a special counsel in compliance with the relevant CFR reg. Because there is ample evidence of crimes having occurred - as opposed to zero evidence (or even a category of crime specified or readily imaginable).

But as I have whined for a while, on *some* aspect of the Mega-Scandal Swarm from the Obama years, DOJ itself will have to actually act as - well, as the DOJ. Do an investigation/prosecution itself. To justify its existence, and begin the long road back to re-establishing credibility.

That seems dubious to me, but who knows. In any case, a lot of people will be tuning in for Trump tomorrow night ... so that is good in any case. The left is all prepared to change the message off the memo revelation (that the left is an evil empire) so Trump can surprise them with a message of hope and victory.

The Maxine will still do her message of hate and division on BET ... then later the memo comes out and reveals the murderous global mafia runs deep state.

300 I guess I'm just baffled as to why basic questions can't get answered promptly:

Did the FBI pay for the Steele dossier? Yes or no?

Did they use that dossier to get a FISA warrant? yes or no?

Did they intercept communications of the Trump campaign? yes or no?

Did that confidential information get widely disseminated by Obama? yes or no?

Was that information intentionally leaked to the press and Clinton campaign? Yes or no?

Is the Steele dossier/Trump intercepts being used to create the Mueller investigation? yes or no?

This is easy stuff, and not classified.

I'd say, the answer is yes to all these questions, with a lot of but, but, but attached. Problems is, I don't give a shit about the buts. This was wrong, full stop.

The "sources and methods" aspect to this particular chapter would seem trivial. Everyone in the world has known for a long time how surveillance is conducted.

My favorite classified info of all time was something that was known only to the US ..... and the Soviets. Just not to the American public or the rest of the world. ???? An arms control-related thing, years and years ago. Everyone laughed at the time, mocking the idea of keeping "secrets" from the public, but *not* the adversary.

True dat.

Daughter worked with marine biologists/ecologists, who were terrified of the octopus they were studying in the lab. Apparently it figured out how to get out of its tank, kill fish in other tanks and then get back in its own tank. They found out by watching CC video of the lab at night. The damn thing waited till they were gone and had turned everything off to do it's nightly Octopus the Ripper stuff-because it didn't eat the fish, it just killed them.

Biologist on the boat of course briefed us up on the critters during the cruise, recall she said something like dolphins had more secks than any other mammal. She gave details on their degenerate lifestyle.

Young British guy in the group laughs when she's finished and says "wow, when I die, I want to come back as a dusky dolphin!".

421 See here is the thing - they are all guilty. That is the problem. Huge swaths of the Obama administration, Clinton campaign, the media, and dems in congress are guilty of collusion, with the Russians no less, to steal an election. Full stop.

Why was Clinton left off the hook in the e-mail scandal? because Obama had e-mailed her classified info on her private sever multiple times, using a pseudonym. You couldn't prosecute her without also prosecuting him. He wasn't the only one - her lame brained scheme swept up a lot of people. The same principal is at work here - too many "important" people colluded to steal an election, or to cover up that collusion.

If I were Trump, I'd say, look, I'm willing to give an immediate pardon to anyone willing to admit what they did right now, to spare the country this terrible investigation. I would be very generous in my forgiveness. That would strip away a lot of dummies who just went along, leaving just the core to be prosecuted.

Because realistically, no one is going to jail. I'd be content with public humiliation and a loss of prestige, power, and position, along with changes to the law to prevent this from ever happening again. Ruined careers in Washington are almost as powerful an incentive as jail.

552 Wal*Mart is being sued by a black woman because they keep "black" cosmetics and other expensive stuff locked up.

Of course, they keep ALL cosmetics and expensive stuff locked up, such as shaving razors, but that's irrelevant to the need to destroy Wal*Mart for daring to be largely apolitical and refuse unions.
Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at January 29, 2018 03:10 PM (39g3+)

Yea, a lot of other stores keep stuff locked up too. And in all white neighborhoods in the suburbs. If they go after Wal-Mart, they are gonna have to go after a whole ton of other stores.

It's ridiculous. I don't want to have to pay more for products b/c stores don't lock stuff up and more stealing happens. B/c they will just charge customers more to make up the difference.

COZI TV has the Carney awards, basically an award show to honor the random "who's that guy on TV he looks familiar?" stable of actors. I think we have hit peak awards shows if that's the case.

Mainly I think award show ratings have sunk because people are tired of politics in their entertainment. Explains the NFL ratings cratering too. But none of our Betters seem to understand this simple concept.

Not at my store, but from what I've read, companies lock things up by store. So in one place it may be baby formula, in another Wags it may be something else.

In one Wags I go to, they lock up nothing. Wait, maybe perfume. But in the other one, I know they lock stuff up. Just not stuff I need. So I don't pay a lot of attention. I think it is some types of medicines.

I remember a day before things were locked up. *sigh*

He should, if he wants to be seen delivering the address, do it from the Oval Office on his own. Or send the fucking thing as a letter to Congress.

The last thing he should do is be in a room full of traitors, fellow-travelers and attention whores.

And I'm only speaking of the Republicans.

There was an active investigation into Fast and Furious for years.

It doesn't matter how much investigating is done or what is found out. It's all about the courage and integrity to actually hold people liable to the law. If you still think this will happen then you haven't been paying attention. Not even with Trump. The first thing Trump did when he won was let Shrillary off the hook. The only reason any of this is happening is because Shrillary and Barky and the junta had to push all this crap even after being let go from all their criminal acts (and there were hundreds - that WE know of).

The Left has never had any problems with stuff like this. They were more than happy to have a very public, year long investigation, grand jury and trial of all of Bush's White House (all based on bullshit that that despicable lowlife Patrick Fitzgerald knew about from the very beginning - and that dirtball slug, Colin Powell). And, even after it was all shown to be bullshit they still had no problem slapping the cuffs on Scooter Libby and hauling him off to prison (for which Bush did nothing, being the shit that he was).

But, if you think that anyone is going after Barky's junta and is going to give them some real prison time ... I think you're fooling yourself. I'd love to be proven wrong but there's no history that would indicate that, in any way.

588 Some clarifying questions that should be asked every day by DJT or his surrogates, and track the answer status every day:

1. Is DJT himself, personally under investigation for "collusion" with Russia? According to James Comey several months ago, he was not.

2. If that has changed, exactly what evidence has since come to light to justify such an investigation?

3. If it is only "associates" of President Trump, and there is no evidence to justify continued investigation of the President personally, why hasn't Mueller formally announced this, in order to avoid unnecessary interference in the political process?

4. If there is no evidence of personal collusion of DJT with the Russians, what possible justification can there be for this "Special Counsel" to be looking over personal tax or financial records of the President, if this is not a pure General Warrant search for any crime whatsoever?

5. What precedent (American) political or legal, is there to appoint a prosecutor with limitless authority to investigate a person for "criminality" without first probable cause of a specific crime?
