Social Justice Warrior Jemelle Hill Steps Down from ESPN's Little-Watched Nostalgia Trip, Sports Center

She'll apparently still work at the fading network -- she's only one year in a "lucrative" four year contract -- but at a vertical called The Undefeated, which is all about the intersection of, get very much this, race, politics, and sports.

It is the common practice of Social Justice Warriors to infiltrate organizations and hobbies in which they have little to no interest -- videogames, comic books, sports, science-fiction awards organizations, all academic fields, etc. -- for the sole purpose of seizing "key nodes and critical infrastructure," as Diversity and Comics notes (echoing US military doctrine), in order to turn non-political pastimes into never-ending propaganda echo chambers -- or destroy them outright, if they cannot be made to serve the regressive left's propaganda mission.

They're deadly parasites for any organization that allows them to crawl inside their bodies.

But these organizations let them in -- hell, they actively seek them out -- just so that social justice blogs and websites like The Mary Sue or Buzzfeed will give them the Social Justice Warrior Stamp of Approval.

Trouble is, as Marvel Comics is finding out, Social Justice Warriors are not consumers of any of these products, and will not buy them even if they have been converted into full Social Justice Warrior propaganda outfits.

These organizations are being infiltrated by Social Justice Warriors not because Social Justice Warriors like them or the cultural products they produce, but because Social Justice Warriors know that non- Social Justice Warriors enjoy these products, and thus these cultural artifacts must be seized and repurposed to serve leftist indoctrination ends or simply destroyed.

If they cannot be remade to be useful indoctrination centers, then they must be destroyed, so that, at least, non-Social Justice Warriors will have one less enjoyable thing in their lives, and may be forced to seek Social Justice Warrior-controlled entertainments as an alternative.

But do tell me how afraid I should be that Donald Trump keeps whining, ineffectually, that he might have to "open libel laws" for reexamination.

Let's keep laser-focused on that while ignoring the widespread subversion of cherished relics of traditional Americana to either serve the left's propaganda efforts or be destroyed from within.

Have you heard of a genre of movie called the "Beautiful Loser" movie? It was late-sixties thing about so-called "beautiful losers," people who just didn't fit into Society, and, of course, who were therefore losers, but were "beautiful" in their loserdom. They felt so much, and had such Integrity in their Losing.

They were beautiful precisely because they were losers, and ineffectual in changing their fates in a Society rigged against them.

I've never seen one of these movies, by the way. I just hear of this genre on occasion.

As I have no interest in Beautiful Loser movies, I also have no interest in Beautiful Loser "Conservatism."

his guy talks about that. How when you make some physical characteristic the defining thing about your character as the SJW writers do, then there is nothing left to talk about with that character. And he uses an answer from Avery Brooks who played Sisko to highlight that point.

I doubt it, because Billy Jack could kick ass and could be master of his fate, right?

I mean, if BIlly Jack is a Beautiful Loser, then a character who's an awful lot like him -- Rambo -- is also a beautiful loser, and I don't think anyone's claiming First Blood was a beautiful loser counterculture picture.

But I don't know. I think Robert Downey -- senior -- might ave directed some of these pieces of shit. (They sound like pieces of shit, at least.)

100 80 That's what is so bitter sweet as Marvel closes in on the end of their first decade. There's is an almost formal changing of the guard taking place with the next two back to back Avengers films. There is a sort of long good bye to the cis white era and a sense that new slightly more SJW characters are seated to come to center stage. Goodbye golden era Marvel Cinematic Universe!!

Such is my terror. The only movies I go to the theaters to see anymore, and after A4 I think it's going to go hard downhill. The MCU has basically replaced Star Wars for me, now that SW has died a worse death than George Lucas could ever conceive.

139 Bob Rafelson's movie, 'Five Easy Pieces' could arguably be categorized as a 'beautiful loser' movie, except that Jack Nicholson's character, Robert Dupea, is played as an exploitative, amoral, vicious asshole, nothing beautiful about him. Nicholson's a great actor but it's a hard movie to watch.

In the movie, Nicholson's character comes from a privileged background. He's not ground down by the system or exploited by The Man. He consciously and willfully chooses to be a loser, to live a squalid, miserable, drunken, transitory life. At the time this choice (and this film) was celebrated by the critics. The movie won all sorts of awards. It doesn't hold up well, frankly.

140 SJWdom has invaded every single facet of our lives.

I was in Barnes and Noble this morning, killing time waiting for the Below Five store to open up, and I passed by a collection of books on an end cap that had a sign stating something about 'keeping strong girls strong' or some bs. All of the books were about brave girls doing brave things...I should have taken a picture of it, but I was so pissed.

Then I figured I was probably jumping the gun, and maybe they had a similar set up for boys. So I looked for the 'keeping strong boys strong' end cap throughout the entire store. Of course there wasn't one. I may have jumped the gun, but I was right. Irritatingly right.

nah. it's a convention of "good" sports movies that the hero loses but in a much more important way, he wins.

Rocky's goal in that movie was not to win, but to go the distance with Apollo, which he did. Also, I just noticed this (saw it the other night), it was a split decision -- 1 of the 3 judges thought he won.

He lost the match, but he won at his goal.

He also got his girl.

Also, Apollo gave him respect, of a kind, in saying "There ain't gonna be no rematch."

I've asked the clerks at the local state sanctified booze selling establishment if they've ever seen it and not a one would admit it. Seems like it would be part of their Nanny State training.

I'm a recovering drunk with many years of sobriety. I watched 'Leaving Las Vegas' once. Once was enough. Too painful to watch it again. Nicholas Cage's character made a choice I could've made, but didn't. Some people I knew and cared about in recovery did make the choice he made, and now they're dead. I close my eyes and see a sea of faces, all gone now.

217 The failure is that people within these organizations. who truly have a long-term stake in their well being, are often Kool-Aid drinkers themselves. They lack either the insight, intellectual capacity or temerity to honestly discern their real fundamental existential interests.

So they start down the road to predictable failure.

This is a problem endemic to contemporary society. We used to say, crudely "don't let your mouth outrun your ass". In this case it is, "don't let your emotions outrun your intellect".

Today's instantaneous society and social media tribes short-circuit the intellectual judgment process to produce tactical stupidity. People ultimately become vested in that stupidity because it comports with their emotional view, not truth, reality or an intellectual conclusion. The problem being one ends up peddling fallacy and sophism, even in the face of verifiable truth or predictable outcomes simply because they become personally, disturbingly vested in it.

As a byproduct, we've become more divided than ever, because their is no agreement on what is clearly the verfiable truth. It has been replaced with perpetual emotional causuistry- which is where we are today. At one time we called this illogical or preposterous. But today some speciously call it "righteous", when it's nothing of the sort. It is just cunning political self interest- and it's a disgusting violation of the veracity.

274 246 I didn't either. I thought Holden's parents were your typical post-war, wealthy Manhattan WASPs. Very concerned with status and the correct schools, clothes, social behavior etc. Not very demonstrative or affectionate.

Holden's mom probably did drink too much but the late 40's and 50's were a hard-drinking time.

Yes that's more like my take. It makes sense his parent's drank like fish and Holden does too to imitate them in being an adult. Never thought his mom was a narcissistic slut. But I haven't re-read it for a few years. Always interested in other people's take on Catcher in the Rye. People seem to either love it or hate it.

277 just under 30 litres of PURE ethanol per man per year

It's math day. 30 litres of pure grain is x (1 / .40) 80 proof vodka which is 75 l per annum which is 1.44 liters per week, which is basically 2 bottles per week.

285 The way to stop SJW virtue signaling and desecration of institutions is to make it clear that what they are signaling isn't getting them anywhere.

Boycott their crap, ridicule them constantly, ignore them completely when they throw a tantrum, etc.

Using reason does not work with toddlers.

Put them in time out and leave them there until they starve to death.

That is pretty much how the younger generation of Catholics are dealing with the left-over smelly hippies who tried to subvert the Church.

Prayer, reverence, TLM, chapel veils, having dozens of kids and raising them to know, love and serve Our Lord.

The hippies haven't a chance.

347 ESPN is on a roll today. They produced a serial piece on Larry Nasser called Outside the Lines and have targeted the entire Michigan State administration and now are delving into how the university handled sexual assault complaints from students.

They are trying now to destroy Tom Izzo and Mark Dantonio, the basketball and football coaches respectively.

MSU, like most other universities, has not only a campus police department, but the entire SJW student campus life department that all sexual assault complaints must be reported. ESPN's own reporting states that even if a complaintant doesn't want to report an incident to the student kangaroo court, it is required.

In Dantonio's case, over his 11 year tenure there, ESPN claims 16 of his players have been accused of sexual assault of some form or another. Most of those cases ended up with no charges filed due to either the female changes her mind, or it's the typical he said she said with no evidence and the claim made months after the fact.
Last summer four players on the football team were charged with sexual assault, and those charges and trials are pending. All four were dismissed from the team and the university.

ESPN is claiming that because out of 1300 players Dantonio has coached over 11 years, 16 were accused of sexual assault, that means he is covering it up. They are trying to use the pen to destroy people.

Sorry for the chopped cut and paste which gives you the quote rather than ESPN but I follow MSU football pretty closely. Not sure your angle on this but in full disclosure I'm a fan of a rival but do not allow that to color my approach to this. The MSU program has indeed been covering up sexual assaults by team members since at least the mid-nineties. Just last year they lost several star rookies who videotaped themselves attacking a girl in a bathroom. It took the school almost the entire year to produce the investigation results and toss the players - some of whom are arguably key to the program's future success - and it was ONLY because there was video evidence of the attack. In this matter, MSU is getting what it deserves from SJW ESPN.

The hard part is giving up beer. I love a cold one after work. I'm told that once I make weight, I can have red wine, but not until then, and at this rate, it will be a couple of years at least.

600 calories per bottle of wine, from a quick estimate. For a male of about six foot around 200#, a caloric intake of around 3,000 calories would be about 'maintenance level'. Neither gain nor lose.

Something else you're enjoying the wine with is probably the bigger problem. All the good things like cheese, and crackers, and all other versions of food.

First question, of course, is whether that's really something to fear. Imposition of responsibility for things you say doesn't really sound so awesomely horrible to me, buy YMMV.

Second question is how the law of defamation could be "re-examined". Turns out the "public figure" doctrine isn't found in the Constitution - not a breath of it. It lies in a Supreme Court decision, New York Times Co. v. Sullivan, 376 U.S. 254 (1964).

Therefore, "re-examination" would consist of taking a case of defamation against a "public figure" to the Supreme Court, and ask the Court to overrule the precedent. That's it - not really so much to it; chances are a conservative court might take the case and take a fresh look at the societal value of a Press that's free to lie about public figures.
