Sojourn In Violet And Red
Wilbur "Tripp" Dreibeinerschwein

Descended on his mother's side from Sir Francis Bacon and on his father's side from Alexander Hamilton, the little-known modern American artist Tripp Dreibeinerschwein was truly a child prodigy. Born on a small farm in northern Colorado he could recognize basic colors by six months of age. With the encouragement of his father, Tripp did his first primitive paintings before the age of one. Painting soon became the focus of his life.

As time went by his style became less sloppy and more rooted in the stylized forms of post-modern expressionism. Upon his initial entree into the art world, critics panned his early work, but he refused to feed at the trough of the mainstream art world. His lifestyle however, hampered his work. He started smoking early and soon turned to pot. He produced some of his more controversial works while 'baked'. He eventually found a cure for his addictions and went on to have a productive career. Following his death, a private memorial dinner was held in his honor by his family for a few select guests.

Being a prodigy seems like it would be awful. You *start* at (or at least very near) the top of your skill and there simply isn't any way to grow very far. And then you grow up and are simply somewhat better at your skill than other adults and that is seen as a decline instead of being the obvious outcome of being at the top of ability so early. It seems like it's impossible to "win" in that situation.

I'm no brainologist, but I became convinced something in the brain has to give something up in order to achieve the other spectacular thing.

The other influence was probably being thrown into adult situations with people who have worked for decades to be as good as you are at eleven or twelve, and you have to interact socially with them as equals. That can't help, either.

Arab MKs ejected from Knesset ahead of Pences address
Joint List MKs attempt to hold demonstration in Knesset against Vice President Pences visit, are removed from plenum.

Knesset Members from the predominantly Arab Joint List party were removed from the Knesset plenum Monday afternoon, shortly before Vice President Mike Pence addressed the Israeli legislature.

The Joint List MKs, who had earlier vowed to boycott Pences address, attempted to hold a protest in the Knesset Monday against the Trump administration, with some holding placards reading Jerusalem is the capital of Palestine.

The protest, which was held in violation of Knesset regulations, was quickly broken up by Knesset officials, who escorted the MKs involved out of the chamber.

208 It's interesting how the two main colors, yellow and purple, are opposites--compliments. They provide visual stability for the piece. Mr. Dreibeinerschwein then accents these two colors with their adjacents: red and green, which are also compliments. This gives the work a visual sparkle. The star-like form created by the purple give the work movement, and by rotating it slightly anti-clockwise, provides drama. The solid turquoise shape on the left, off-center, seems incongruous at first, but when it is realized by the viewer that it lies on top of everything else, it creates a weight that holds down the motion of the painting, keeping it from exploding off the canvas.

I said a thing upthread which I'd like your opinion on. I don't believe it was a pig, or at least not an unguided pig. The swishes of purple and red are one technique, the blue mask is thick and different and done on another day.

So I think there is some human's intentionality behind this.

puh-lease.

My view on the state of polling today is that identical polls conducted on the same day will have a +/- range of ten points. Their claims that of their so-called range of uncertainty is total bullshit.

Whether a poll tells me something I like, or something I don't like, I now believe that the mathematical basis of all polling is completely false and the results are purely random clustering, often slanted by the pollster.

Re posted - in non margin blowing fashion - hopefully:

This needs to be spread far and wide: The difference between a Trump
shut down and the Obama shutdown? Well Trump's Dept of Interior/Parks
was not instructed (or feel it appropriate) to go out of its way to
seal off access to our national parks.

Park roads,
lookouts, trails, and open-air memorials will generally remain accessible to
visitors, but there will be no NPS-provided visitor services, including
restrooms, trash collection, facilities and roads maintenance (including
plowing), and public information. As a general rule, if a facility or area is
locked or secured during non-business hours (buildings, gated parking lots,
etc.) it should be locked or secured for the duration of the shutdown.

In general,
enforcement actions should be reactive rather than proactive. Parks should not
take measures to keep visitors out of an area unless access presents a serious
and imminent threat to human life, safety, or health, or a serious and imminent
threat to the condition of a sensitive natural or cultural resource.

The Joint List MKs, who had earlier vowed to boycott Pences address,

The protest, which was held in violation of Knesset regulations, was

Animal "paintings" are never solely by the animal because animals have no sense of what they are doing. They are imitating what people have taught them. In many videos on You Tube you can see the person dipping the brush into a paint they have picked and putting it in the animal's mouth or trunk. The animal swishes the brush around on a canvas. The person takes it out of the mouth, dips it in another color and repeats the process. The turquoise shape is the pig's snout dipped in color and pressed to the paper. There is little to no conscious effort by the animal.

I have no problem, however, with the animals' owners doing this for money. Sometimes you need some extra funds to keep the farm or zoo going. That's cool. People like novelty items. Pierre Brasseau was a conscious effort to satirize and criticize the modern art world and its philosophies, and that's hilarious.

I had a good time trying to analyse it in an above comment.

You are correct. Truthy tabloid headline.

Having said that, I'd use the term IED, depending on what the explosive filler was. Or the detonator.

"Run of the mill" tells me a device made from components and materials available from your local retailers. If it has stuff like Semtex, C4, RDX, blasting caps, etc, I'd be inclined to say IED, even if it's stuffed into some steel pipe from the hardware store.

Absent any knowledge of that, I'd go with "pipe bomb".

It's an example of Symmetry. Not unlike Cubism.

Even the casual viewer will notice the juxtaposition of the basic color palette and how the artist uses form to intersperse the ideas of cohesion and separation in a way that draws the viewer in, thus rendering the idea in an inescapable manner that's not unlike that of the great masters.

442 Confessions of a Liberal Heretic ...

Thanks to this never-ending hot take, [Glenn] Greenwald has been excommunicated from the liberal salons that celebrated him in the Snowden era; anybody who questions the Russia consensus, he says, "becomes a blasphemer. Becomes a heretic. I think that's what they see me as." Greenwald is no longer invited on MSNBC, and he's portrayed in the Twitter fever swamp as a leading villain of the self-styled Resistance. "I used to be really good friends with Rachel Maddow," he says. "And I've seen her devolution from this really interesting, really smart, independent thinker into this utterly scripted, intellectually dishonest, partisan hack." His view of the liberal online media is equally charitable. "Think about one interesting, creative, like, intellectually novel thing that [Vox's] Matt Yglesias or Ezra Klein have said in like ten years," he says. "In general, they're just churning out Democratic Party agitprop every single day of the most superficial type."
