Benjamin Harrison, 23rd President of the United States, Annual Message to Congress, 1892 Quote II “We must picture hell as a state where everyone is perpetually concerned about his own dignity and advancement, where everyone has a grievance, and where everyone lives with the deadly serious passions of envy, self-importance, and resentment.” C.S. Lewis, The Screwtape Letters Quote III “The most wasted of all days is one without laughter.” Nicolas Chamfort Dana Loesch excellent marksman both on and off the range. Another day, another Media Matters beef with Dana Loesch. So, what’d she do this time? Well, she had the chutzpah to call Chelsea Manning by her given name and to suggest that Manning is not, in fact, a woman. Or, as Media Matters frames it, an “anti-trans attack”: You may have voted for PDT, you may have sat the election out, hell you might have even voted against him. But be honest with yourself. PDT has put the skids on soft socialism and just plain moonbattery. More than 100 lawmakers, led by a New York Republican and Rhode Island Democrat, have called on the Trump administration to reverse its decision to pull climate change as a threat from the National Security Strategy. The Obama administration's February 2015 National Security Strategy stated, “Climate change is an urgent and growing threat to our national security, contributing to increased natural disasters, refugee flows, and conflicts over basic resources like food and water. The present day effects of climate change are being felt from the Arctic to the Midwest. Increased sea levels and storm surges threaten coastal regions, infrastructure, and property. In turn, the global economy suffers, compounding the growing costs of preparing and restoring infrastructure.” In its 2014 Climate Change Adaptation Roadmap, the Defense Department warned that "a changing climate will have real impacts on our military and the way it executes its missions." After the past week I find this interesting, at least to your humble Cob. What happens to your body when you sneeze? Be careful not to hold it in. But it's better to interrupt your coworkers and seatmates than risk some health consequences, say researchers. A 34-year-old in Leicester in the U.K. ended up rupturing his throat while trying to hold in a forceful sneeze. The man said he felt a "popping" sensation in his neck after pinching his nose and holding his mouth closed to stop a sneeze. The pressure didn't have anywhere to go, so it tore the soft tissue. The man had to be fed by a tube and eventually made a full recovery. Researchers, who described the case in the journal BMJ Case Reports, said trapping a sneeze can be dangerous and can also result in something as serious as a brain aneurysm. Sanity? A new 51st state, New California? Sounds good, but it will never happen. The crazies need the Right to support them. The founders of New California took an early step toward statehood Monday with the reading of their own Declaration of Independence from California, a state they describe as "ungovernable." Their solution: Take over most of current-day California — including many rural counties — and leave the coastal urban areas to themselves. The Drinking Game, The Shoe0nHead way. NSFW I've never met Aziz Ansari. I don't know him. I know I don't care for his "comedy". And from what I've seen of him he's a jerk. He's lucky he isn't a college student. These are wildly different takes, and there are dozens more perspectives offered in The Washington Post, National Review, Jezebel, on Twitter, and elsewhere. But most of the takes have one thing in common: they explicitly reject the original article's assertion that Aziz Ansari committed sexual assault. Ansari behaved badly, and there is much to be said about how he ignored his date's wishes, thought only of himself, and expected sexual gratification at every turn. But he is not a rapist, most people seem to agree. And yet, boorish behavior similar to Ansari's—behavior that most pundits say they consider gross but not criminal, at least in Ansari's case—is routinely investigated as sexual misconduct on university campuses. Ansari is lucky he's not a college student; otherwise he could have been accused months or a year after the incident, investigated by a lone administrator with sole power to decide which witnesses to interview, called before a hearing to answer charges he does not fully understand, forbidden from consulting a lawyer or cross-examining his accuser, found responsible for sexual misconduct under a preponderance of the evidence standard, and expelled from campus as required by Title IX, the federal statute that mandates gender equality in schools Another interesting read on the "hip" Ansari. The Environmental Protection Agency is on track to slash 47% of its total staff by the end of President Trump’s first term, according to a report in the Washington Examiner. After just one year, EPA chief Scott Pruitt has reduced his staff to levels unseen since the Reagan administration. If just those federal employees set to retire by 2021 do indeed leave, Pruitt will have cut more than 7,000 bureaucrats. Public streets, not so public unless you're a resident of Leonia, NJ. If you want to drive through the small residential streets of Leonia, N.J., you'll have to move there. Starting Jan. 22, the town will ban all non-residents from driving on 60 of its streets during the morning and evening rush hours. The new rules aim to crack down on urban-dwellers who take shortcuts through the town while following instructions from navigation apps like Waze, Google Maps or Apple — a phenomenon Mayor Judah Zeigler says is causing gridlock, costing money and putting people in danger.I hope that they stop accepting any outside tax money for their upkeep. January 17, 2011, American music publisher, talent manager, and songwriter Don Kirshner who helped launch the careers of Neil Diamond, Bobby Darin, Carole King, Neil Sedaka, The Monkees, The Archies and Kansas, died of heart failure at the age of 76. Kirshner was hired by the producers of the Monkees to provide hit-worthy songs to accompany the television program and also served as a music consultant for almost two dozen TV series between 1966 and 1977. via thisdayinmusic.com Just to name a few big names that were on show during it's run. Dolores O'Riordan, the lead singer of the Cranberries, has died at age 46, and across the musical and political spectra, there is cause for mourning. She was a stunning talent, with one of the most exquisite voices in rockdom – slightly metallic, musical as a bell, grinding, passionate, and fascinatingly Irish in accent. Her songs and videos were as beautiful as she was: lithe, sinewy, manic, melodic. Her lyrics were poetic and surprisingly sophisticated. With a great band and great songs, of course she was destined to become a big rock star in the 1990s, that transition period before just rap and pop junk pretty much took over, (with a few exceptions). Her remaining rock videos are fantastic. So was man and not rats to blame for the Black Plague? Rats were not to blame for the spread of plague during the Black Death, according to a study. The rodents and their fleas were thought to have spread a series of outbreaks in 14th-19th Century Europe. But a team from the universities of Oslo and Ferrara now says the first, the Black Death, can be "largely ascribed to human fleas and body lice". The study, in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science, uses records of its pattern and scale. So, a Harvard medical school grad can be a Genius Award Winner. A Japanese city has activated an emergency warning system to alert residents to avoid eating locally purchased blowfish after a mix-up saw toxic parts of the delicacy go on sale. A supermarket in Gamagori in central Japan sold five packages of fugu fish without removing the livers, which can contain a deadly poison. They're putting up no trespassing signs - wait, no, they're putting up "do not enter between these hours" signs - and giving residents yellow hanging tags for their rear view mirrors. If you don't have one you get pulled over and pay a $400 fine. Apparently they're a cut through with a teensy bridge right before a big bridge that all the miserable traffic is supposed to take, and before Waze and Google only a few locals knew about it and used it. Now everyone does because the GPS routes them there. It was interesting to see the police chief saying how easy it was to get the GPS companies to stop routing the traffic once it became illegal to drive on the streets. I'm going to head to bed but a short little story. So I mentioned on a thread a few days ago I have a groupie. Honest to God, this girl is always on my Etsy shop, wants me to make something for her, shows up at my shows, usually buys something but not always. I can tell she doesn't have a lot of money. So about a week ago she wanted me to customize a bracelet for her. Then she asked for a custom zipper charm. I made both. We have tried to meet up so I can deliver the items to her but shitty weather intervened. She just messaged me and said she can only afford the bracelet right now but she loves the zipper charm and she's so bummed she can't afford both. Good grief, between the two it's $20.
I have been there. I know what it was like to want something pretty but couldn't afford it. Hell, I still have to think twice before buying anything, but I'm in a slightly better situation than she is. So.. tomorrow I will deliver both to her. I will ask only $10. I will tell her to pay it forward. I'm not telling you this to get a pat on the back. I'm telling you this because it's never a bad idea to do something nice for someone. So... go do something nice for someone Stay safe morons.. love you all. Posted by: Jewells45 at January 17, 2018 09:45 PM (dUJdY) 62

It was kind of like how the Romans used to conquer little villages in the Mediterranean. They'd go into a little Turkish town somewhere, they'd find the first five guys they saw and they would crucify them. And then you know that town was really easy to manage for the next few years... OK, so they believe they have identified human fleas and lice as disease vectors; but what about the disease? Bacterial? Viral?
There's no such disease as 'lice' or 'fleas'. The veterinarian anecdote suggests the sneezing cat dispersed some kind of pathological agent. What was it? Was it airborne? What did the sneeze have to do with fleas/lice on humans? Why the decades long hiatus between outbreaks? Is this a rickettsial disease (typhus: which can be transmitted by fleas/lice)? Why is Yersenia pestis specifically eliminated other than computer modeling and researchers judgement? If they can use DNA to identify the disease they can also use it to eliminate. My personal theory is that the MIddle Ages plagues were the results of cascading conditions leading to multiple disease forms. Poor hygene, ignorance of disease causation, water pollution, non-existent waste management, and the introduction of a new disease causing agent (even if only through mutation) for which the populace had no immunological defenses. Once an outbreaks burned itself out the people returned to their own norms of village/City life. In time a new disease agent appeared and the process was repeated. An interesting article but scant on information. Posted by: Lurking Cynic at January 17, 2018 10:08 PM (LqMRb) 149

"More than 100 lawmakers, led by a New York Republican and Rhode Island Democrat, have called on the Trump administration to reverse its decision to pull climate change as a threat from the National Security Strategy."
Let's me honest. If it isn't something that can be shot, stabbed, or blown up, and it can't be prevented from stabbing, shooting, or blowing up, it isn't a threat that our national security strategy should consider. It isn't as though such threats shouldn't be considered at all, but no deployment of spies, missiles, soldiers, or bombs will do anything about the threat, and expending resources on things that are non-core will likely be as useful as setting the same resources on fire. But turned out, it was a problem with the indoor blower motor. It failed to start one cycle, and let the compressor overpressure and the heat strips overheat, tripping the protection. Now, I got the blower motor to come back on -- after consultation with my HVAC man buddy, turns out to be a known failure with these units. It's a time delay thingy circuit on the blower motor start control. Won't bore you, but as long as I leave the blower ON all the time, it's working. 'Til he can get out here with the replacement part. Kbdabear has posted his wonderfulness, and I'm still leery of that blower motor, so I probably won't get to foul the ficus tonight. So all of ya'll foul yours for me tonight. Posted by: publius, the Persistent Poperin Pear at January 17, 2018 10:27 PM (8O3HH) 242

I heard that the turnout was around 13%, which would be very low for even a non-Presidential year election. So I would be worried but only so that we get our organizations going early and as strong as possible. The left is rabidly invested in the upcoming elections; they're going to turn out even if SMOD hits before the election. We have to match them, which we should be able to do. If we don't, we lose. They have yellowtail sushi and waygu beef. Why do they need to fuck
around with all this poisonous exotic tropical fish crap? Friggin asians. Opium sodden fiends. Actually, they're related. People don't eat the fugu because the fish tastes so great and the diners take a chance on all of the poison organ having been removed; the trick is that a small amount of the poison is kept in the fish on purpose because it gives the eater a bit of a rush as it makes you feel tingly (I can't recall if my buddy who taught English in Japan said 'just in the extremities' or 'all over') and I guess the allure of danger as well. So the trick is keeping just the right amount of poison in the fish to bring on the tingly effect without killing the eater! Once the religious, the hunted and weary Chasing the promise of freedom and hope Came to this country to build a new vision Far from the reaches of kingdom and pope Like good Christians, some would burn the witches Later some got slaves to gather riches But still from near and far to seek America They came by thousands to court the wild And she just patiently smiled and bore a child To be their spirit and guiding light And once the ties with the crown had been broken Westward in saddle and wagon it went And 'til the railroad linked ocean to ocean Many the lives which had come to an end While we bullied, stole and bought our a homeland We began the slaughter of the red man But still from near and far to seek America They came by thousands to court the wild And she just patiently smiled and bore a child To be their spirit and guiding light The blue and grey they stomped it They kicked it just like a dog And when the war over They stuffed it just like a hog And though the past has it's share of injustice Kind was the spirit in many a way But it's protectors and friends have been sleeping Now it's a monster and will not obey (Suicide) The spirit was freedom and justice And it's keepers seem generous and kind It's leaders were supposed to serve the country But now they won't pay it no mind 'Cause the people grew fat and got lazy And now their vote is a meaningless joke They babble about law and order But it's all just an echo of what they've been told Yeah, there's a monster on the loose It's got our heads into a noose And it just sits there watchin' Our cities have turned into jungles And corruption is stranglin' the land The police force is watching the people And the people just can't understand We don't know how to mind our own business 'Cause the whole worlds got to be just like us Now we are fighting a war over there No matter who's the winner We can't pay the cost 'Cause there's a monster on the loose It's got our heads into a noose And it just sits there watching (America) America where are you now? Don't you care about your sons and daughters? Don't you know we need you now We can't fight alone against the monster Posted by: 11B40 at January 17, 2018 10:53 PM (evgyj) 326

Coweta County is about 30 miles SW of Atlanta. They got 3" of snow, which they are not equipped to deal with. The county manager has declared an emergency and a curfew. The latter is not popular, apparently, as this Hitler video has been created. Funny. Be sure to enable subtitles, lower right on the screen.

I think we should call them the "Falsies" instead but here are President Trump's two lists:
The Highly-Anticipated 2017 Fake News Awards 1. The New York Times' Paul Krugman claimed on the day of President Trump's historic, landslide victory that the economy would never recover. 2. ABC News' Brian Ross CHOKES and sends markets in a downward spiral with false report. 3. CNN FALSELY reported that candidate Donald Trump and his son Donald J. Trump, Jr. had access to hacked documents from WikiLeaks. 4. TIME FALSELY reported that President Trump removed a bust of Martin Luther King, Jr. from the Oval Office. 5. Washington Post FALSELY reported the President's massive sold-out rally in Pensacola, Florida was empty. Dishonest reporter showed picture of empty arena HOURS before crowd started pouring in. 6. CNN FALSELY edited a video to make it appear President Trump defiantly overfed fish during a visit with the Japanese prime minister. Japanese prime minister actually led the way with the feeding. 7. CNN FALSELY reported about Anthony Scaramucci's meeting with a Russian, but retracted it due to a "significant breakdown in process." 8. Newsweek FALSELY reported that Polish First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda did not shake President Trump's hand. 9. CNN FALSELY reported that former FBI Director James Comey would dispute President Trump's claim that he was told he is not under investigation. 10. The New York Times FALSELY claimed on the front page that the Trump administration had hidden a climate report. 11. And last, but not least: "RUSSIA COLLUSION!" Russian collusion is perhaps the greatest hoax perpetrated on the American people. THERE IS NO COLLUSION! While the media spent 90% of the time focused on negative coverage or fake news, the President has been getting results: 1. The economy has created nearly 2 million jobs and gained over $8 trillion in wealth since the President's inauguration. 2. African Americans and Hispanics are enjoying the lowest unemployment rate in recorded history. 3. The President signed historic tax cuts and relief for hardworking Americans not seen since President Reagan. 4. President Trump's plan to cut regulations has exceeded "2 out for every 1 in" mandate, issuing 22 deregulatory actions for every one new regulatory action. 5. The President has unleashed an American energy boom by ending Obama-era regulations, approving the Keystone pipeline, auctioning off millions of new acres for energy exploration, and opening up ANWR. 6. ISIS is in retreat, having been crushed in Iraq and Syria. 7. President Trump followed through on his promise to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel and instructed the State Department to begin to relocate the Embassy. 8. With President Trump's encouragement, more member nations are paying their fair share for the common defense in the NATO alliance. 9. Signed the Veterans Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act to allow senior officials in the VA to fire failing employees and establishes safeguards to protect whistleblowers. 10. President Trump kept his promise and appointed Associate Justice Neil Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court. Posted by: andycanuck at January 17, 2018 11:04 PM (QCX64) 357

32 Starting Jan. 22, the town will ban all non-residents from driving on 60
of its streets during the morning and evening rush hours. How exactly would they enforce that? Blockades? Checkpoints? Facial recognition? I mean, I refuse to use Google Map directions, so how would they stop me from sightseeing in their city? Posted by: pookysgirl at January 17, 2018 09:36 PM (XKZwp) Oh, I'm sure they'd use their police to follow and track people (say, by recording license plate numbers) and then sic them on people. I don't know if this still goes on, but the San Antonio suburb of Hill Country Village at least tried it some years back. The city government decided that having people drive through its neighborhoods to dodge heavy traffic on US 281 was simply awful so it began doing the same thing. As I say, I don't know if it is still going on. But it was at least tried. I figured it would be easier to wall off the town much like West Berlin and call it good. Governments are truly filled with idiots. Posted by: CatchThirtyThr33 at January 17, 2018 11:09 PM (MkRdb) 367

The dims are misreading these special elections. Their victories in AL and WI 10th were based on total lack of turn out on the GOP side. In Al, I think Moore only got half the vote that Trump got. In WI 19th, much worse, the GOP candidate got 56.5 K in a 26% win while the GOP guy last night got 9.8 K in a 10% loss. A little GOTV should remedy this
Posted by: sofa saver at January 17, 2018 09:57 I agree, these off season things are weird, esp. the AL thing w/ Moore. The WI thing was so local that has no bearing, but it was a Rep. district. I thik the Dems are I trouble I the Se., 10 ruig I staes Trumo wo. The House, yeah the party I power usually loses some, but do to gerrymandering there are few competitive districts. There may be a big play as to how the media continues to portray Trump as a lunatic. It didn't sell in the election, but this in 2018 isn't a presitendial election. Will the press have discredited themselves enough so people generally ignore them? Posted by: Farmer at January 17, 2018 11:19 PM (yJ1e6) 403

Amazingly, somebody with the security police was quoted as saying "violent Islamist extremism" is the greatest threat in Sweden. Not likely a translation issue, and in any case Swedes mostly speak excellent English. There have been a rash of grenade incidents recently, and apparently grenades are readily available, for reasonable prices. Same cop said they were following 3,000 "hot" suspects in monitoring for terrorist attacks. That's a pretty impressive number in a country that size. The story I read about the Black Death was that Europe had just gone through one of its periodic anti-witch binges, part of which entailed killing as many cats as they could, as cats were deemed as linked to witches.
How the the plague spread? Via fleas on rats. What did cats normally keep in check? Rats and mice. What was missing when the Black Death reached Europe? Boy, serendipity can be a bitch. Posted by: Anonymous at January 18, 2018 12:32 AM (v5uOx) 609

I cannot scented detergent. I think changed and made the stuff stronger or something. It used to didn't bother me, and I think they made it too "smell good" or something. I can stand too much smell good. Of any type. Anyway, I use these All non-scented pods. In the dishwasher, which is an older one made for powder, I tried the pods for it. I loved them, much better than the powder. Of course, I've got to manually throw the pod in at the start of the main wash cycle after the prewash. Last night did we ever get the issue of Arianism settled? Because tonight I'd like to address Docetism.
Posted by: Cicero (@cicero) at January 17, 2018 11:13 PM (KfgLN) ======== Gah. The strongest argument against docetism is that there is nothing in the canonical Gospels to support it. It's all subsequent gnostic speculation that goes against the plain narration of the four narratives of the crucifixion. The only reason people believed it is because their prior biases demanded that they believe it. Docetism is also expressed in Sura 4:157 as well. It is a case of forming your conclusion not based on the facts, but based on your ideological commitments before you examined the facts. "Surely a prophet (according to Islam) or a God (according to gnosticism) could not have undergone something so humiliating. Therefore it could not have happened". It's the same retarded reasoning that LIBERALS use. "Surely all cultures are equal. So if some countries are shitholes, it must be because they are oppressed by us", etc. You start with an ideological commitment and you ignore everything else that follows. For unscented detergents, it's hard to beat the many varieties of such offered at your local Hunting Emporium.
And the chlorophyll based versions impart a very fresh, clean, yet un-perfumed bouquet to your fabrics. Should you be in the truly predatory mode though, do return from a scouting trip to your hunting locale, with a pillowcase half-full of that site's local vegetation. Toss that tightly tied pillowcase into the clothes dryer with all of your Hunting Apparel, when there's about 10 or 15 minutes left in the drying cycle. Your clothes will reek of the grass, fields and trees of where you hunt, but not of "you". Oh, and you do know to NOT brush your teeth with "toothpaste" before setting afield? Might as well light a bonfire of artificial scent in your blind. Brush with just water and a wee bit of baking soda. It's a scent killer. And your breath needs to die, anyway, as it smells as if you already did. But you didn't need me to tell you that, of course. *stealth fart* Jim Sunk New Dawn Galveston, TX Posted by: Jim at January 18, 2018 12:59 AM (QzJWU) 644

Northern Lurker: My sincerest sympathy for you and your family. I kind of get the sense that your wife's passing was both sudden and unexpected. If so, my sympathy is doubled.
This is going to sound stupid, but it comes from forty years of reading Ann Landers and Dear Abby. Try not to make any serious life changes in the next couple of years. Unless it was something you had already planned, don't sell your house, sell some property you and your wife had plans for, cash out all your savings, etc. I do not know how many times surviving spouses wrote in to Ann and Abby a couple years later, lamenting the decisions they had made in the fog of immediate grief. Two years seems to be about the median time to learn how to live without your other half. Don't let people push you into pretending you've achieved "closure" (what a dumb concept). They're not you. Deal with it your way. Be well and believe you will find the strength to get through this horrible time. That's considerate of you. It brought back a memory. I went to a drinking college in the cold belt. On a Sunday morning you would find blossoms of frozen vomit on your walk to somewhere. It was so cold and so removed from having been someone's upchuck that it wasn't even gross. Posted by: Bandersnatch at January 18, 2018 03:07 AM (fuK7c) 718
..."Don't let people push you into pretending you've achieved "closure" (what a dumb concept). They're not you. Deal with it your way."
^THIS^ This "closure" concept began in the days of 'Milk-Carton Children'. If your child is missing and you hold out hope for them to be alive, perhaps you can understand "closure". Other than that, it is just some retard's dreamy mumbo-jumbo way to while away the time. Posted by: Slapweasel, (Cold1), (T) at January 18, 2018 03:15 AM (Ckg4U) 719

Northernlurker: May I second the posting from Deplorable Lady?
The wisdom of "no major decisions for at least two years": very, VERY sound. My brother pushed my mother to sell the house (not our family home; rather, the place where she & Dad moved after his retirement) a few months after Dad's quite unexpected passing. But thankfully, someone gave her the "two years' window" advice, and we're both very glad she took it. Posted by: Shopgirl: #FiretheChiefsDC at January 18, 2018 04:10 AM (5Azle) 726

Dear Faye, my beautiful Queen, Take sometime to rest Let Heaven become acquainted with your beautiful smile, And your wonderful laugh, Wait for me, Well since your in eternity where time is no more you won't have to wait, Or since 1,000 years is but a day maybe you only have half an hour to wait Now my head hurts On your side you possess, on this side I long, On your side you have joy, on this side I grieve But I will see you again. Death, be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so; For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me. From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be, Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow, And soonest our best men with thee do go, Rest of their bones, and soul's delivery. Thou art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men, And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell, And poppy or charms can make us sleep as well And better than thy stroke; why swell'st thou then? One short sleep past, we wake eternally And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die. There's the whole sonnet, I needed to read it again. Prayers ascending for you and yours. My up the hill neighbor and I talked about you last night. Last Tuesday is two years since her husband died right in front of her, unexpectedly. She too had a particularly close marriage, one to marvel at. She was shattered. The unexpected part was the hardest. I saw her that awful night, and her road was long, but she has started to thrive these days. Remember, there is future happiness. What I do when I visit her (twice a week for an hour) is bring humor. I lent her Muldoon's book of limericks my last visit. I lent her my Calvin & Hobbs books in the past. I find Off the Mark or other cartoons. Aziz Ansari reminds me of Sayyid Qutb, one of the founders of the Muslim Brotherhood. He wasn't too enamored of American women, either. Mainly because they wanted no parts to do with him. College-age. And apparently with all the stupid ideas that the college age have these days. Posted by: Mr. Peebles at January 18, 2018 07:07 AM (oVJmc) 781
She was a stunning talent, with one of the most exquisite voices in rockdom - slightly metallic, musical as a bell, grinding, passionate, and fascinatingly Irish in accent. Her songs and videos were as beautiful as she was: lithe, sinewy, manic, melodic.
I disagree. The Cranberries were HORRIBLE. Posted by: Sponge at January 18, 2018 07:07 AM (Zz0t1) 782

What color is this octopus? (20 second vid)
This is the kind of thing that makes me know that evolution is smart. I don't know how the notion of random got so inserted into the discussion. Octopus make camouflage. Flounder make camouflage. Bluefin tuna have a separate circulatory system to make their eyes and brains a couple of degrees warmer than ambient. There's nothing random about any of that. I don't do "God" in any of the traditional versions, but I do believe that his impetus in life is quite quite smart indeed. Posted by: Bandersnatch at January 18, 2018 07:08 AM (fuK7c) 784
682 Miley......thank you for being there for NL
Theresa.....I have thought about you often. It is why I have gotten mad at Insomniac a few times Posted by: westminsterdogshow........GNAMM ette at January 18, 2018 01:30 AM (mMeIQ) It's Thursday afternoon, but I'm reading thru this thread b/c I wanted to see how NL fared overnight. You guys just rock. All the ones that reached out to him, all the prayers, all the lovliness and kindness. All the phone calls and offers to talk IRL. Was getting all misty and then I see this about Insomniac and I had to laugh. Theresa, I do think about your recent loss, and the sharpness and confusion of it. I hope you have found some solace or people who have experienced similar to talk to. Sugar Plum Fairy - Of course we want you to post! :-) Speed Racer - You too. And I am sorry about the loss of your wife from thyroid cancer. No one will probably see any of this...so probably seems silly to write. But the heart wants to say what it does, so I blame my heart.
