The Resistance, as Portrayed by Interpretive Seizure

"WTF is this wannabe avant-garde horseshit?" an email from Yoko Ono asks.

Apparently this is some stupid gay dance shit called "Figuring," the point of which, I guess, is attempting to imitate the gay retarded movements of figurines, which don't actually dance, you know. I guess they mean like in a stupid music box.

They don't look like figurines. They just look stupid and herniated.

Actually, reading the article (always a mistake, as you guys have taught me), they have this explanation to justify the fact that they can't dance for shit:

Originating from internal physical processes, Moriah Evans' Figuring takes micro movements as method. Through the engagement of energies, reactions, and interactions, three female performers make visible and audible internal systems in order to pitch them against the external forces of space and other. Control and loss of control become the borders that the performers traverse in a series of measured movements that attempt to reconfigure the perceived cohesiveness and stability of the human form. Through pacing and scale, physical gestures make malleable the inner qualities of the body, as well as the sensation of time. Figuring brings forth the unseen, yet felt, world of bodies and space.

That's fucking retarded.

Oh, and if that isn't enough, check out this supercut by Free Beacon of Brian Stelter loving the idea of President Oprah, but it looks more to me like Brian Stelter loving on Little Debbie Snack-Cakes.

189 Control and loss of control become the borders that the performers traverse in a series of measured movements that attempt to reconfigure the perceived cohesiveness and stability of the human form. Through pacing and scale, physical gestures make malleable the inner qualities of the body, as well as the sensation of time. Figuring brings forth the unseen, yet felt, world of bodies and space.

========

That's brilliant. Reminds me of:

Oh yes,” said Arthur, “I thought that some of the metaphysical imagery was really particularly effective.”

Ford continued to stare at him, slowly organizing his thoughts around this totally new concept. Were they really going to be able to bareface their way out of this?

“Yes, do continue…” invited the Vogon.

“Oh… and er… interesting rhythmic devices too,” continued Arthur, “which seemed to counterpoint the… er… er…” He floundered.

Ford leaped to his rescue, hazarding “counterpoint the surrealism of the underlying metaphor of the… er…” He floundered too, but Arthur was ready again.

“… humanity of the…”

“Vogonity,” Ford hissed at him.

“Ah yes, Vogonity (sorry) of the poet’s compassionate soul,” Arthur felt he was on a home stretch now, “which contrives through the medium of the verse structure to sublimate this, transcend that, and come to terms with the fundamental dichotomies of the other,” (he was reaching a triumphant crescendo… “and one is left with a profound and vivid insight into… into… er…” (… which suddenly gave out on him.) Ford leaped in with the coup de grace:

“Into whatever it was the poem was about!” he yelled. Out of the corner of his mouth: “Well done, Arthur, that was very good.”

213 I miss the early days of Tucker Carlson's TV show, when it was still new and amusing. He actually told a guest once, and I quote, "Well that's just stupid."

He actually started out trying to have legitimate arguments with leftists, but they all ended up being too freakin' looney toones to sustain a contiguous English conversation let alone a coherent series of arguments.

Then that stupidity turned out to focus-group really, really well. So that's all it is now. O'Reilly-clone number 35 and counting.

I think it would be a better show if it were weekly, not nightly, and if the guests were selected much, much more carefully.

My nookie days are over,
My pilot light is out.
What used to be my pride and joy,
Is now my water spout.

Time was when on its own accord,
From my trousers, it would spring.
But now I've got a full-time job,
To find the friggin thing.

It used to be embarrassing,
The way it would behave.
For every single morning,
It would stand and watch me shave.

Now as old age approaches,
It sure gives me the blues.
To see it hang its little head,
And watch me tie my shoes!!

309 The 7-11 raids are a good sign. Certainly not the business I'd have guessed was anywhere near the top of the priority list, but whatever.

I'd still like to see DHS unleash a strategy of confronting much higher value-added businesses (meatpacking, light manufacturing, etc) instead of retail, where they go in, gather the industry heavy-weights together, and give them options. Two. Work with DHS to become illegal-alien-free in their labor practices, or ..... have the bejeesus fined out of them, along with raids, prosecutions of company officers, etc. An easy way, and a hard way.

Under the "kill the chicken to scare the monkey" principle, just doing this to a few well-known business groups would surely have wide impact.

No congressional help, no new laws, nothing required to be able to do this. DHS has all it needs. Really hope to see something like this, soon. I believe unskilled and semi-skilled wage data are already showing some uptick. A systematic campaign like I describe would deliver rule of law and economic impact, immediately.

381 Originating from internal physical processes, Moriah Evans' Figuring takes micro movements as method.

IOW, peristalsis.

No wonder it's so shitty.

399 At first I thought it was overly flowery, imprecise language that was obscuring the actual point these people are trying to make. (e.g. saying "physical" when they mean "physiological")

Then I realized, there is no point. It's all imprecise because there is no "true" value or concept for the language to be judged against as accurate or inaccurate. It's just empty, vacuous twaddle to excuse having pissed away their NEA grant on keggers and jerkin' off. Or whatever these snowflakes do for fun.

460 Tap dancing is completely
synchronized with, responsive and obedient to the music - by means of a
common element crucial to music and to man's body: rhythm...[Tap dancing]
looks, at times, as if it is a contest between the man and the music, as
if the music is daring him to follow - and he is following lightly, effortlessly,
almost casually. Complete obedience to the music? The impression
one gets is: complete control - man's mind in effortless control of his
expertly functioning body. The keynote is: precision. It conveys
a sense of purpose, discipline, clarity - a mathematical kind of clarity
- combined with an unlimited freedom of movement and an inexhaustible inventiveness
that dares the sudden, the unexpected, yet never loses the central integrating
line: the music's rhythm.
