Also, I can't get over this breakfast and dinner in schools crap. Why not just set up dormitories at the schools as in a juvenile detention facility and let the kids live their 24/7? It doesn't seem as if the parent(s) are actually doing anything for them. Food, school supplies, clothing, toys, etc. All they do is provide a bad example.

I used to go to texas twice a year for guitar shows. One in Dallas, the other in Arlington. It was shocking that there were no cowboy hats. No muddy pickups either. Lots of nice cars, beautiful women, nice stores, roads, etc. Not what I expected. What a blast though.

Fun story we heard last night! Pooky's old shop, which was in a building built for WWII, had its pipes freeze and then burst. They lost everything-computers, files, manuals, etc. They still have the planes, although those are limping along thanks to sequestration and a microburst that ripped off a crew door. Between the natural disasters and leadership getting denied promotions, I think someone is trying to tell them YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE FIRED THE BEST GUY YOU HAD.

The bible says the love of money is the root of all evil. I always was skeptical of that, but not anymore. Now I'd say it is spot on. People really show you who they are when it comes to money.
An acquaintance of mine got ALS in her early thirties. Heartbreaking. It progressed fast. She made her will. Her sister wanted the money before the woman died. Literally was fighting and screaming at her. Said horrid things.
She got the money a few months later when her sister died.
I've heard lots of stories about people suing and fighting over inheritances. Everybody has. And they are all awful.
But for me, this one with the sister is the worst.

The reason I was told I could not come up was that all the children did not have fathers and it was not fair. It was the schools job to socialize the kids. Any behavior that is 'boy-like' is squashed and they are berated endlessly. there really is a need for male teachers at the early ages and I've worked with a few. hard to get them in though. and the pedophile worry (yeah, I've heard it here a bunch). It can happen but background checks are run even if you have a fingerprint card already and just switch schools. Men in schools or let your boy kids get abused by pussyhatters. Just sayin'.

My son went to an all-boys military elementary/middle school, and one of their constant talking points was the value of having male teachers and other male role models for young boys.
This is a highly respected and beloved old school. Of course being a private school, all the boys had loving fathers and male role models in their lives at home. The ones who really need this even more are the disadvantaged kids from single parent homes.

Thanks for the link. Ok, so it does involve some kind of mentorship, that's better than how it was described in the tweet. Still, some of the volunteers were "public officials and community organizers", not the type of people you want to have contact with kids. It would be nice if these sorts of things could be done apart from public schools.
Maybe more through local churches. Maybe that NYC woman that DeBlasio hates should start some charter schools in Dallas, and that alone would improve the kids' education as well as events like this.

As far as Daddy/Daughter dances, my 8 year old grandbaby girl, looks forward to them like a kid at Christmas. Their church (formerly my happy fun church) puts one on every February. She gets dressed up, she gets a corsage, and she gets her daddy to twirl her around. Not his favorite thing, but so what? Sometimes you have to step up and make a memory.

I agree most younger women dabble to one extent or another in the behaviors listed above. They may not all be having abortions or they may not all be acting like sluts , but the ones who are working do like travelling and buying designer accessories--and putting off getting married and having children. It's said to see --and I have--when some of them reach a certain age and realize they will have neither.
But guys aren't blameless either. They do lie and put off proposing to long-term girlfriends ( I swear! Next year I'll put a ring on your finger!") and just generally want to get their rocks off --when they aren't hanging out and drinking with their buddies.
What happens is as they age women get desperate and men get tired. The longer a guy lives without fathering children, the less likely he is to want to father children. It's the opposite with women.
I've concluded that our culture has debased men and women.

Unfortunately I can rarely get my kids to give older movies a chance, they just tune it out as soon as they see its black and white or no spectacular special effects.
Notable recent exception: Lord of the Flies. They were entranced and did not budge for the whole movie.

My little brother strung his girlfriend along for 7 years. He wasn't partying, just too chicken to shit or get off the pot. Fortunately they were still young enough to have 3 wonderful kids.
One of my best friends was strung along for a decade and was in menopause by the time he popped the question. She would've been a fantastic mom. I love her husband, but he's a stick in the mud who can't stand big changes in his life, and that's why they're childless.

Correct, in a normal market. If the owner has a competent agent, the listing price is calculated assuming that potential buyers will offer less than the asking price.
Your realtor should be able to guide you in negotiating a good price.
If you don't have a realtor, why not? You don't save any money. The commission amount stays the same; it just all goes to the listing agent if there is no buyer's agent to split it with. The total percentage has already been determined in the listing contract.

I've learned to skip certain posts, b/c there is some deep-seated bitterness. And I realize it's useless to argue. And their perception is their reality and nothing anyone says will change it. And I don't need that toxcity in my life. I've always had a positive outlook on men, and positive relationships with them. I found the bitterness in the posts against women was changing that, and I didn't want that to happen to me.

That reminds me of a story from my own childhood.
When I had just turned 8 years old and my sister was 11, my parents broke up and my dad moved out. In reaction, my mother "had a nervous breakdown" and basically went nuts and was sent to a mental hospital for three weeks.
Once, when I recounted this incident to someone, they asked something that was to me unexpected: "But who took care of you and your sister when your mom was in the mental hospital and your dad was gone?"
I stopped short because the question had never occurred to me. "What do you mean, 'Who took care of us'?"
"I mean, what adult was in charge of you two kids while both your parents were out of the picture?"
I replied truthfully, "We just took care of ourselves. Life went on as before." This had never struck me as noteworthy or even worth mentioning. Because the story wasn't about us kids, it was about my parents.
"Are you telling me that NO ONE -- no relative, no social workers -- came in to deal with the situation?"
I was pretty mystified. Of course not. My mom had gone out one day and had a complete psychotic meltdown in public somewhere and was taken by ambulance directly to the nuthouse. I don't think the staff there even knew she had children -- I'm quite sure she never mentioned us, as she was delusional. I don't even know where my dad was at this time.
In truth, I didn't even find out that my mom had been in the hospital until AFTER she returned. No one told us at the time.
In all honesty our lives (of me and my sister) weren't that noticeably impacted by my mother's absence, because she was completely self-absorbed and uncaring even under normal circumstances, and even when she was at home my sister and I generally "took care of ourselves."
Anyway, at the time, and for decades afterward, I had not really thought of this incident as being particularly significant, but after various people I recounted it to were so shocked and horrified at my abandonment and abuse, now I'm supposed to classify the incident as a Major Trauma. Which, in all honesty, it really wasn't. I barely even noticed her absence, frankly.

2 brothers moved in, one with a serious girlfriend (not married) All working at the begining, then something strange happened with one of the brothers - personality changed, I think it was meth. The couple kicked him out, and I agreed, since his financial contribution had dropped to zero and they had been covering for them.
I let them do yard maintenance in the summer, noticed they would start together, then after about 10 minutes the guy would find a reason to go inside and leave his girlfriend to do it all - which she was always quite diligent about. Came over one day, saw a moving van, guy was moving out without thinking to tell me, but she was staying, turned out she told him to get out since he had decided to get the "perfect job" and instead had just sat at home playing video games while she worked 10 hours days, paid all the bills, and did all the cleaning.
She's still there, and about to get a female roommate who's also employed. I can't tell you how many boys in the early 20's I run into who think it's the duty of everyone else around them to take care of them. Generation of bums.

The exact opposite. I won't enter into a relationship because it would be disrespectful to their mom. I do everything in my power to co-parent. I always speak of mom like she is the best mom in the world.
I want them to grow up to serve God and not women and being a slave to sex and the approval of women. I don't want them dating. I don't want them infected with our hyper sexual culture.
I want them to be men and do great things with their lives. I want them to make their dreams and goals a reality.

However, in reality, No. She may have been able to act normal most of the time and even hold down a job, but inside and in private she was still severely mentally ill. And not in a fun, entertaining or interesting way. Really bizarre and toxic. She had extreme obsessive thoughts and was unbelievably narcissistic and self-involved. She started stalking men she became obsessed with, and did absolutely creepy and horrifying things to them and their wives and girlfriends (slashing tires in the middle of the night, calling them 110 times a day, breaking into their houses and leaving unexplained gifts, etc.) And she constantly threatened suicide, with basically every sentence. It got to the point where one didn't pay the slightest attention to the threats -- that was just how she talked. "If I don't kill myself before then, I have to teach a class at 6 o'clock tonight." Etc.
She's still alive, and she STILL acts that way! Never "recovered."

Zombie, I can sympathize, since I have a close family member who has a mental illness. They rarely have the ability to become what other people think is "normal".
Sounds like you're describing one of the classic personality disorders, probably BPD. No, someone with BPD never really recovers, not even with medication (although meds can get down on some of the obsessive behavior)

Well, I'm not sure my sister was such a "strong person." She ran away from home shortly thereafter, never came back. I think she WAS traumatized by our bad pa[renting much more than I. And her life spiralled downhill from there and she never got back on track. (I fact, I think her life never was "on track" to begin with.)
Our parents did, basically, nothing right, on the nurture side. I think it was just something our genes that enabled my sister and I to be the mature ones in the family. So I guess one might say that was our parents "did right" was give us good genes.

I have used it to fix so much stuff that other "superglues" did not have any staying power on".

I did this to myself a couple months ago. I ended up just putting ice on it till the bleeding stopped and letting it take care of itself. After bleeding stopped, washed it gently with a sponge and put some bacitracin on it - any antibiotic cream will do.

I can't argue with that. I was blessed to attend an all-girls school, which is now coed unfortunately, and one of the benefits of single sex Ed is that girls are valued for their grades, sports talent, personality etc, instead of whether they put out. We weren't slaves to the approval of boys, and sex wasn't even on the radar for most of us.
This is better for boys too.

I'd say the hospital...but actually the other ideas might be better. I think there are bandages they make now that hold cuts together to heal instead of stitches...at least on some cuts. As usual, it's iirc. So who knows. Bing or google probably do.

As a kid I put a gash in the middle of my eyebrow. They shaved the hair and stitched it up. My dad is a Doctor and Mom was a Nurse. The both said shaving the hair increased the risk of infection and were annoyed the ER doc did that. Idea being some hair or other stuff might get in the open wound and get sewn inside.

Depression and alcoholism have been my mental state off and on since then. In recovery now for almost 28 years, but even without the substances, depression, PTSD and codependence have bubbled within me. My five children were there throughout. we're healing too. I fight guilt daily.

Also, I can't get over this breakfast and dinner in schools crap. Why not just set up dormitories at the schools as in a juvenile detention facility and let the kids live their 24/7? I stop by a hospital ER on the way home, asked to just see a doc for a minute to decide whether stitches were needed.
Hawt young blonde resident comes out. Oh yeah, she said, I'd do stitches. Partly just to prolong the conversation, ahemm, I challenge her. Why? Infection without stitches? No scar issue, it's under the eyebrow (Brezhnev-esque eyebrows here). She lost the debate. So I thanked her and said I'd take my chances with the butterfly. She was perturbed (making her even hawter) that I had challenged her authoritah'.
Rink manager was a pro - didn't touch the butterfly for 4 days - boom, gash is cleanly closed.

They do, but I don't know what it's called. The superglue for animal wounds is Vetbond, and at the zoo where I worked a little gauze and VetWrap, and if needed Vetbond, would usually do the trick on zoo keepers' cuts.

That reminds me. Hydrogen peroxide is good for disinfecting a cut. Also, if a cut gets infected, use a cue tip and dab HP on it. If it "fizzes" cut is definitely imfected. But treating it with HP helps kill infection, and thus prevent scaring. And get Neosporin or anti-biotic band-aids when you can. Magic.
HP is also awesome at getting stains outta clothes. Especially if you do it right away...makes them disappear.
Hydrogen Peroxide is my go to for lots of stuff b/c it works, doesn't burn, and isn't harsh. Lysol is making products with it instead of bleach now, b/c it kills 99% of germs.

You are blessed with self-awareness, which is what keeps people sane. It when people don't understand the origins and working of their own feelings where problems arise.
I don't know why I was so UNaffected by my childhood's poor upbringing. The "go to the mental hospital and abandon the kids" part was actually not even close to being the worst incident or most outrageous bad parenting. It was just three random weeks out of a lifetime of craziness and parental lovelessness.

A lot of them blend into each other. Although schizophrenia has the big name, it's mostly controllable with medication now, while none of the pd's are. I've got one tenant who's actually become a friend of mine, lives in a garage apartment of mine, who's a medicated shizophrenic. He's fine most of the time, about once a month he'll forget his meds and the neighbors will call and say they heard a man in the stairwell screaming at 3 in the morning. He'll be very apologetic and say he doesn't really remember what happened, and as long as he remembers his med's hes fine.
Like I said, I ended up knowing way more crazy people than I had any right to.

Me thinks you doth protest too much and 99% probability you didn't notice any of the good wife and mother material because they weren't meeting your "looks 1st, 2nd and 3rd" criteria at the time you were choosing a wife, and a for a good number of you that is still at least 2 of your top 3 criteria so you still look past all the good character prospects because the subset of these that are smoking hot got snatched up already.
Well too bad so sad, but don't be crying to me about how all women are Madonna material girls just because those were the only ones you were willing to date back in the day.

For business, I used to buy 99% isopropyl alcohol by the drum. Would always bring a gallon home. Great for starting fires with minimum explosion. Or disinfecting wounds. One very slight negative... It hurts like an absolute m_fer on any wound.

I had a big laugh when I found out that one of my wife's grandfathers, back in the 20's, actually busted out of a mental institution (The Terrell State Home, not much security at the time) and walked 100 miles home. Long story as to why he was there, but times being what they were, nobody ever went looking for him and he never went back.
She still gets a little annoyed at how much that story amuses me.

One thing I WILL say in my parents' defense:
They were never ragers. Neither of my parents ever yelled at us, hit us, belittled us or insulted us, or flew into extroverted rages. Maybe that's why my self-esteem remained intact.
The REASON, however, why my parents never directed any anger toward us is that they barely even were aware of our existence. We kids were of so little importance to them that we played almost no role in their lives or psychological landscape. We were just peripheral side-characters in the Grand Drama of their lives.
I know other kids whose parents, like yours, were aggressive and critical and "raging," and I actually pitied those kids and thought their situation was MUCH worse than mine. One of my friends when I was nine years old was (I discovered when I visited her house the first time) very wealthy. Lived in a big mansion, had a live-in housekeeper/cook, had every toy imaginable. And YET, her parents frequently screamed at her and criticized her and constricted her life with a million rules and expectations.
After I left that house, I was SO GLAD to get away and return to my own wonderful home where my parents barely even knew my name and never paid me the slightest attention. What a relief! I was lucky, I concluded!

I have friends and relatives with amazing wives and who are amazing mothers. You refuse to listen to what I say. I don't hate women. I hate our culture, society, and laws which enable and reward the worst parts of female nature while punishing to the extreme men and boys for being men and boys.
I know good women exist in the Bible so did bad ones. Same for men.
As far as my ex wife goes, she is violent and a domestic abuser. She has been pushing lies for 5 years until finally her lawyer quit because she had no witnesses and I had 4 experts and 3 witnesses. She needs psychological help for the sake of our kids. This is not punishment. Adults get help when they are harming themselves or others. She refuses.
But it's folks who will line up and somehow engage in her delusions that she was justified and a victim. And having 100% of the authority she should bear zero responsibility, accountability, or consequences for her actions, which are harming the kids and herself.
She has been in high conflict court cases for almost a dozen years now, which she has driven. But it takes years for people to realize this because she is a master manipulator and plays the feminist laws to her advantage.

I talked about this here a couple times ... I had to "learn" a personality. I honestly didn't have one as a kid. And it sucked ... sitting there "thinking" through every situation instead of going with known, successful, immediate reactions to things.
And here's the thing ... I don't think I'm anywhere close to the only person to ever have to do that. I just did it without going to a doctor, asking for help, or attending anything. I figured it out as I went.
Made me the man I am today.

The biggest insight...I swear this is a true story...I figured out the Big Thing. I would try to say interesting things about myself to make people interested in me. Nobody was.
Then one day I figured out that if I asked someone about herself she would tell me. And that people like talking about themselves, so if you ask them about themselves they will like you.
I rode that wave all the way to becoming Rush Chairman (damn glad to meet you), faking it all the way.

I did something similar. And it WAS pretty easy - because I always had blue-collar leanings anyway. I always thought Industrial Arts were cooler than Math - I just happened to be much, much better at Math.
So it really wasn't all that much of a struggle. It would be harder if I'd have went into some Socially Demanding job. I didn't ... I'm just a friggin' Controls Engineer. They expect us to be weird anyway.
Relatively speaking ... I'm pretty normal. For a job known for nutty damn people.

Yeah I do. I'm also aware that men turn psycho as well as women. It goes both ways.
I have had to go though 6 plus years of counseling because of the abuse, and guess what? When you deal with a Cluster B personality Type, like I am, they have to change and get help no matter how much you sort yourself out.
I can't just abandon my kids. I'm not a psychopath. I've battled for 5 years fighting off false accusation after false accusation. I just want to be a father to my sons, but in America that is nearly impossible if the mom does not want you to be.
Again I'm not talking about women. I speak of a culture, society, and laws that reward bad behaviors from women and punish normal behaviors of men and boys. This is not bad mouthing women. It's pointing out a front on the culture wars which need to be fought, yet conservatives seem to want to ignore it.
So fine. The social contract between men and women is broken. America is dead unless you think 3rd world immigrants will fight for Western democracy.

I agree with all of that --- except for the part that says conservatives want to ignore the problem. We've been fighting feminazis for decades.
Where I think you and I would disagree is in your oft-expressed view that this breaking of the social contract is completely the fault of women and that men are the only ones suffering under the new dispensation.
And I would say that today society encourages the worst in BOTH sexes, not just in women.
