We had some friends over for the holidays and the husband told me that he had come to conceive of Die Hard as a Christmas movie. So I fired it up and we watched it again. I saw a Christmas reference that had escaped me in all my previous viewings. It's when McClane finally gets to be alone with Holly before she has to go to the Christmas party and give as a speech and she's apologizing for Ellis being a dick. She tells her husband: "You must forgive Ellis. He always gets depressed this time of year. He thought that he was God's Greatest Gift, you know?" I didn't see this one on any of the lists of Die Hard Christmas references I was able to find. Plus, I need new glasses but can't afford the eye exam. Redinabluestate- (12/12/17) Prostate cancer. Physics Geek- (12/12/17) Both my mother and stepdad (divorced and not together) are suffering from dementia, with my stepfather's case being somewhat further along. NoLongerInTheBellyoftheBeast- (12/18/17) I need to have prayers added to the list for a friend and cow-orker named Renee who just got diagnosed with endometrial cancer. I could also use prayers for myself. Major joint pain and long term major depression. And prayers for better finances to pay medical bills. Johnny- (12/19/17) About a year and a half ago my wife divorced me. It was all very civil and amicable. Today she told me (texted me) that she is now engaged. This whole time, I've been torn up and depressed, of course, but, I don't know, maybe I was in denial or something, because when she told me that.. Gah. It's really over. That life that I was so excited about, will never come to pass. Tone Staple- (12/19/17) For a relative with Pick's Disease, and for his family. Pick's Disease is a form of dementia that starts with gradual loss of language. Arch Stanton- (12/19/17) My dad is recovering from having a pacemaker put in, and battling COPD. Captain Whitebread- (12/19/17) I've had to go to the local hospital ER a couple of times since heart surgery because I was concerned I might be having more heart trouble. I didn't, but since I didn't have insurance, the bill was huge. I tried paying a little every month, but sometimes I missed because money is really tight.
Monday, I was served with a court summons. The collection agency working for the hospital is taking me to court. I owe $4500. I have no way of paying in full. I have to appear in court with the next 35 days.
All I am asking from the Horde is prayers that a workable solution might be found. I am not asking for money; everyone has done more than enough after my heart surgery and when I almost had my electricity cut off a couple of years ago. I believe that with enough prayer, a way will reveal itself. At this time, I don't know what it is. But I believe there is one. Ladyl- (12/20/17) My dad is back on Hopice and isn't doing great. Anonymous- (12/19/17) ...Her family has to leave the R.V. park because her husband lost his job two months ago. He has a job prospect in Texas so he is going after it. There are 7 of them living in a 16 ft. trailer but the children are always clean and happy. She has been driving for Uber just to keep food on the table. She's scared about moving, trying to be normal for the kids, doesn't know what will happen if this job prospect doesn't work out. She's got such a good heart and is trying so hard, right now she feels a little desperate and tired.
Please pray for her and her family. I know how much it helps. Anonymous- (12/22/17) A dear friend who survived cancer--twice--died unexpectedly Thursday night. Not from cancer. He was one of the kindest, sweetest people I've known. His widow is in shock, and sitting in their house looking at the tree they decorated together, and their gifts to each other under it. Patrick from Ohio- (12/24/17) Can you add my Sister In Law Denise she suffers from LUPUS like symptoms and nothing is really working. JQ- (12/26/17) 'Twas an otherwise Merry Christmas, because it might be Dad's last, as he has advanced cancer. Dad (80s) is ambulatory but slowing down...

I posted a link a few days ago to an article by the producer of Die Hard. He said he wanted to settle the question once and for all. he said Die Hard WAS and IS a Christmas movie.

As a veteran of many, many long plane trips, like around the world plane trips, my experience says there is no real effective way to ward off germs in a tin can filled with germs for hours on end.
I've often thought the words Abandon All Hope Ye Who Enter Here should be inscribed above the boarding doors of all planes.

I was actually traveling for business a few years back to like Ohio or somewhere stupid -- it was like a 6 am flight, so I figured it wouldn't be packed, and it would be mostly business travelers.

Ugh. I've pretty much been flying Southwest for years. Have a system where I can almost always get vacant middle seat if not a fully booked flight: you pay the extra $15-25 for first boarding and then sit in aisle seat of rows 7-11. People who want front jump at rows 1-6, even if middle seat, and others will keep walking past 7-11 in hopes of better option/own row in the back of the plane

Yeah, and luckily we have a state of the art electric grid that can totally handle the added capacity needed to charge millions of car batteries.
In my lovely state of NH, we had a great plan to build a nuclear plant 2 two reactors to electrify the entire state.
You can imagine how that worked out. We did get 1 reactor, but it doesn't provide enough power for everyone. We still have some smaller coal plants, but theyre old and the environmentalists are trying to get rid of them, too.
So we have to import power from Canada and their hydro producers. Which, as you can imagine, is expensive as fuck.

I had to go to Vegas a number of years ago for a convention. Plane was almost fully boarded and the center and window seat in my row were empty.
I was just about to start manspreading when two orcas started making their way down the aisle. They were ginormous, so big that when they sat down I was forced to sit half way into the aisle.
Right after takeoff I went to the back to stand where the stewardesses were getting drinks ready. One of them said "Sir, you can't stand here". I said, "Go look at my seat".
She came back and folded down her jump seat and that's where I sat for the rest of the flight. I ate every bag of peanuts I could get my hands on.

On a recent Amtrak trip between Northeastern cities, I was informed that I had enough points to get bumped to business class. Airlines should require people that huge to buy 2 seats, or simply provide them an adjoining seat, gratis. Safety of the aircraft itself, and all aboard it is dependent upon it not being overloaded, and that the load is properly distributed within the aircraft.

Heres two that work for me. I have psoriatic arthritis and osteo arthritis. And psoriasis (of course).
I take 50000 mg a day of Vitamin D3. This helps keep my joints from getting really stiff. Been doing this for over a year and no problems. YMMV
also found by accident that a steady dose of 500mg a day of tetracycline will cut down on flare ups or the intensity of them. Again YMMV
always remember that the doctors are limited in what they can do by the rules of medicine: I.E. common practice. If they stray from common practice they could lose their license and/or get sued if something went wrong.
So they err on the side of caution. They hear hoof beats it's a horse. But sometimes it is a f**king zebra!
I just explore and do research and sometimes luck out when being treated for one thing and it helps something else I have.
Taking alfuzosin is good for urinary problems but it also helps lower your blood pressure. Use caution if you self proscribe if you also take other high blood pressure meds.
Where do I get the script meds without the doctor? Overseas.
I established long ago a good relationship with a few outlets and they proved trustworthy. Hard part is sometimes they will get seized coming through customs. Trial and error on that. Usually if you order less than a 30 day supply they won't bother. Sometimes they will if you use the wrong supplier. (don't ask me why or who. I have one that I don't use any longer because they kept getting seized.)
