Sessions Asks FBI to Take Another Look Into Uranium One Deal
On the orders of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Justice Department prosecutors have begun asking FBI agents to explain the evidence they found in a now dormant criminal investigation into a controversial uranium deal that critics have linked to Bill and Hillary Clinton, multiple law enforcement officials told NBC News. The interviews with FBI agents are part of the Justice Department's effort to fulfill a promise an assistant attorney general made to Congress last month to examine whether a special counsel was warranted to look into what has become known as the Uranium One deal, a senior Justice Department official said. ... A senior law enforcement official who was briefed on the initial FBI investigation told NBC News there were allegations of corruption surrounding the process under which the U.S. government approved the sale. But no charges were filed.

One thing I have said is that Donald Trump puts very big projects together. That means he has to be careful and plan things out so that everything works properly at the time it is supposed to work. My speculation is that he had Sessions in and told him to have a very careful, thorough investigation done and make sure it was done properly and by the book. No loose threads, no slop. what everyone has been crying about as sleepiness has been thoroughness.
We'll see the truth of all these speculations soon enough.

Who knows what the deal is and what that state department approval approved?
I would suspect that it's completely fine to ship Uranium to countries as long as they're not on a black list of types. And I'd suspect that that was all looked in to before the deal went through.

My rule that "sources say" stories are lies still holds even when I want to believe.
You know what I think the biggest contributor is to public distrust of the media? The constant use of unnamed sources combined with the refusal of the media to name those sources when the information turns out to be false.
It is merely common sense for me to assume that anything based on "sources say" means what I want to say and that guy over there who nodded along when I said it.

The Clintons have made all their money selling off public assets, so no surprise there. But what is the national interest the Obama administration can claim? Anti-proliferation? I am sorry Mr. Sessions but we have been over it for more than 3 years now and there is simply no impeachable offense linking President Trump or any of his cabinet, czars or campaign staff to the Uranium One deal. My speculation is that he had Sessions in and told him to have a very careful, thorough investigation done and make sure it was done properly and by the book. Correct me if im wrong but I think the US has Uranium in the SW on Federal Lands restricted from being mined.

Uranium really isn't all that scarce. The reason many U.S. mines closed down is that they cannot compete with cheap uranium from massive high-grade mines like those in the Athabaska Basin of Canada. But a big exploration push in the USA could very possibly find plenty of affordably-mined uranium.

Well there is uranium and then there is uranium. It is not all the same grade.
As of 2015, the US had roughly 1% of the world's know reserves. Sure, if there was a bigger focus we might find more but we aren't going to go from 1 to 20 or higher.
Bottom line is we do not domestically have enough to meet our domestic needs.

It is possible. Certainly the rhetoric and attitude of most of the GOPe has changed (McCain is still holding a bitter grudge he'll take to hell with him). I get a feeling that they've come to terms with Trump being president and are seeing he's not the loose cannon crazed freak they feared he might be.

The easiest charge is still Espionage Act (intentionally, not negligently or with gross negligence, but PMITA-Federal-Prison-intentionally removing classified information from its proper place of storage) closely followed by deliberate violation of Federal Election laws to circumvent the donor limit. Yeah throw in Uranium One too but they should go for the low hanging fruit first.
