Lisa Bloom Promised Big Cash to Two Trump Accusers

So that's how the game works, eh?

A well-known women’s rights lawyer sought to arrange compensation from donors and tabloid media outlets for women who made or considered making sexual misconduct allegations against Donald Trump during the final months of the 2016 presidential race, according to documents and interviews.

California lawyer Lisa Bloom’s efforts included offering to sell alleged victims’ stories to TV outlets in return for a commission for herself, arranging a donor to pay off one Trump accuser’s mortgage and attempting to secure a six-figure payment for another woman who ultimately declined to come forward after being offered as much as $750,000, the clients told The Hill.

The women’s accounts were chronicled in contemporaneous contractual documents, emails and text messages reviewed by The Hill, including an exchange of texts between one woman and Bloom that suggested political action committees supporting Hillary Clinton were contacted during the effort.

Bloom, who has assisted dozens of women in prominent harassment cases and also defended film executive Harvey Weinstein earlier this year, represented four women considering making accusations against Trump last year. Two went public, and two declined.

In a statement to The Hill, Bloom acknowledged she engaged in discussions to secure donations for women who made or considered making accusations against Trump before last year’s election.

"Donors reached out to my firm directly to help some of the women I represented," said Bloom, whose clients have also included accusers of Bill Cosby and Bill O’Reilly.

She offered one woman $760,000, before that woman declined to come forward.

Accusations are occasionally made in cases that witnesses received some kind of compensation for their testimony.

It's usually not no big deal. Lawyers can get disbarred for that kind of thing.

Which was my point, really. We all know this is about shaking people down, not preserving a criminal case. But from a legal ethics standpoint... eh, I don't know. Seems... problematic.

Trump has been among these people for decades, both in NYC and Hollywood. He's seen how they operate, he knows their games from the inside. For example, "The Apprentice" was at NBC...and you don't think he heard about Matt Lauer? He's also the one who made comments about how Huma's husband was a sleaze, and Hillary being connected with him was a security risk --- months before that scandal.

This interview w/AJ Benza is interesting because it shows how Trump has worked with gossip columnists for years to trade dirt for good press. Confirms that he knows these people, knows what they're up to, and knows how to get that info into a reporter's hands if there's something in it for him. Food for thought...

But they, too, ran into trouble trying to decipher which policy would work best for their daughter. The family had relied on her father's employer-sponsored plan through his work as an architect for years, so no one had spent much time sifting through policies.

That poor child. How can anyone expect someone so young to make a complicated decision such as what health insurance plan to buy?

209 This thread reminded me of a (now, not at the time) humorous case he was involved in as a city attorney; he was tasked with defending a local official who was charged with soliciting a 17 year old female intern, who claimed he had offered to pay her for sex.

He told me he worked with this guy for weeks, getting his testimony straight, the guy swore up and down he never offered to pay her for sex, she was making it up. So he built his whole case on that basis, and on the fact that the client promised himself nothing else had happened at all. (It's a lawsuit against the city for damages)

So they go into Court, and he's on the witness stand, and the opposing attorney asks him "did you offer to pay this girl to have sex with you?" And he says "oh no, no, I never did, that's a lie." And then he asks "Well did you offer to buy her a brand new Camaro if she had sex with you?" and he says "Oh, well yeah, I did that, but I don't really think that's the same thing as paying her, is it?"

My buddy, trying to defend him, said he just put his face down on the table and immediately moved to stop the trial and start settlement negotiations, basically on any terms she asked for.

221 Ahem,

I am an attorney. It is, per se, unethical to offer large cash payments, or arrange cash payments through others to clients, or potential clients, in return for their bringing or threatening to bring lawsuits. You can pay or advance court costs for the cost of the ACTUAL ltigation file. But arranging cash payments to the clients, directly, to goad them into bringing a suit (even if their actually is one?)? Nope. Uh uh. Nope. And to do so with the intent of interfering with a national election to the highest office in the land? Th ethics violations are off the charts. Sorry, you lose your license - sister. Rule 1.8 (e) of the ABA rules of ethics ( which CA uses a version of as I recall) specifically prohibit it It also prohibits you form entering into a business/contract with your client. So entering onto a contract where she takes an interest in the story
that is being sold to tabloids is also, per se, an ethics violation.

Someone needs to lodge a complaint and make sure it gets pushed to the hilt. She should be disbarred immediately pour encourager les autres ( but as its CA they probably will do nothing). But in a real state this would be a very brief investigation and then a summary disbarrment - all likely done and dusted within 3 to 6 months.

ltigation file. But arranging cash payments to the clients, directly, to
goad them into bringing a suit (even if their actually is one?)? Nope.
Uh uh. Nope. And to do so with the intent of interfering with a national
election to the highest office in the land? Th ethics violations are
off the charts. Sorry, you lose your license - sister. Rule 1.8 (e) of
the ABA rules of ethics ( which CA uses a version of as I recall)
specifically prohibit it It also prohibits you form entering into a
business/contract with your client. So entering onto a contract where
she takes an interest in the story

that is being sold to tabloids is also, per se, an ethics violation.

Someone
needs to lodge a complaint and make sure it gets pushed to the hilt.
She should be disbarred immediately pour encourager les autres ( but as
its CA they probably will do nothing). But in a real state this would be
a very brief investigation and then a summary disbarrment - all likely
done and dusted within 3 to 6 months.

a mother gives birth to a monster that proceeds to kill the hospital
staff and various other Los Angelenos.

254 I guessed last year that one or more of these accusers could be set up by Trump or Trump people. This detail in the reporting with actual text messages and such printed word for word tells me that, yes, I think I was right.

One that has always seemed like a set up was Summer Zervos. A former contestant on Trump's show who, as a cousin stated in 2016, used to praise Trump right left.

So, these lefty liars are getting exactly what they deserve...they've been PLAYED and OUTED. I'm sure this is not the end of it. O'Reilly made mention of an audio tape with similar details on it that Trump has in his possession.

Now what do you all think about hating on Moore and believing these accusers? Some of you on here were ruthless. You should be ashamed. After this report, any accuser that has come forward with help from Bloom or Allred should be discounted immediately as a liar.

Moore got railroaded, and I'm disgusted by it.

290 Rush going on a mini-rant about the details now revealed via FBI texts re the outlandish corruption of DOJ/FBI in the Clinton crime wave cases.

But as welcome as these (and forthcoming) substantiating bits of evidence are, anyone with a basic understanding the Espionage Act and classified information handling procedures knew, from the very earliest reports, that Clinton and dozens of other people had committed crimes. Period.

Comey's bizarre and ridiculous performance in July was in reality an unwitting scream for help, from a collapsed federal law enforcement system that was attempting to "manage" a political process like some Third World secret police service.

By light years, the greatest scandal in American history (just bumping out the IRS scandal, which had recently grabbed that ring). And it continues - with the ridiculous Mueller "investigation", the defiance of Congress by the DOJ/FBI.

Yes, but in 2074 the media will still be talking about the "Constitutional Crisis" that was Watergate and Obama will be on Mt. Rushmore.

Tilly appears (by my expert eyes) to be "natural." Gershon looks "enhanced."

327 If you are an expert witness, you can set your fee. The person wanting your testimony can hire you or not. At least it used to be that way. I worked with an appraiser who charged $100 an hour to testify as an expert witness in the '90's. Some of the cases involved real estate valued around $20 million.
=======
Expert witnesses in medical malpractice cases - doctors etc charge 300 to over 1000 dollars an hour depending on specialty and location.

They review the case and spend 40 hours doing it. Give a deposition for 1000 per hour. Then testify at trial if you want them live it'll run you about 10 grand maybe less if they are local and you can get them back to the office in the afternoon.

Paying BIG MONEY to entice supposed accusers to step forward and level accusations against a political opponent in the high-stakes competition to determine who will be the next US president?

No, there's nothing problematic about that.
No reason to think this creates a motivation to lie.

That would never happen in CA. He's probably regarded as a hero in the Hispanic community, and as something that the whites deserve by the liberal community.

332 They've been out for a while and I have read them.
They don't say much, heavily redacted and what is there is mostly a
discussion of how to respond and how to hunt down the local person who
tipped off reporters of the meeting and go after them. Funny that.

My interest is why are they being pushed out now from the FBI? I don't believe in coincidences regarding this investigation.

It is Friday afternoon and Judicial Watch had gone back to court to force the release of the un-redacted papers so...

336 That you mouth breathing, MAGA hat wearing, double-wide inhabitants of Jesusland would dare attack these sacred institutions of government shows how Unamerican Trump and his rabid zealots really are! Perhaps you should have the nurse practitioner at the local free clinic up the dosages on your prescription pain killers and then go shoot up some stop signs with your beloved assault weapons to work off your impotent rage against whatever today's latest right wing affront is!
Cheers!

337 I propose a gofundme account to raise a "hundred dollar bill" (h/t to James Carville) to have them all shut the hell up and get a life unless they got some 3rd party proof of their mishes being grabbed by Trump against their will.

Absent that, these disinfo political hack whores with their pimps Bloom and Allred can all go eat a gunnysack of dicks. But they must blow me and make me a BLT first, with no crust.
