Strzok/Page Texts Are Maybe Worse Than You Guessed

Even CBS can't spin this one:

At one point, Page wrote to Strzok, "I just saw my first Bernie Sander bumper sticker. Made me want to key the car." Strzok replied, "He's an idiot like Trump. Figure they cancel each other out."

Strzok says of Mr. Trump that he's "awful" and "an idiot."

On Election Day, Strzok expressed his dismay at seeing a map showing Mr. Trump winning -- he called it "f*****g terrifying," and a week after the election, Strzok and Page were also alarmed to see that Jeff Sessions was likely to be named attorney general.

"Sessions for AG," Strzok texted, along with a profanity. Page replied, "Good god."

Here are some of the texts discovered just so far:

And here's the smoking gun -- so far. It might get worse.

More:

This doesn't sound like an adulterous couple who should have been permitted to work on either the Clinton or Trump matters.

Oh, Wow: From Chuck Ross, Fusion GPS confirms that (now former) Assistant AG Bruce Ohr's wife was hired to work on the Trump oppo file; Ross also reports that it was Bruce Ohr who requested the meeting with Fusion head Glenn Simpson -- to talk about the Trump oppo file.

And to strategize, is my guess.

And more...

This may sound snarky, but it's not meant to be -

You must not have had a job in a large bureaucracy since email, Internet, and then smart phones came along, right? I'm amazed any work gets done at all in this country, with the routine daily email blizzard, Internet access through work computers, and now smart phones with both email and text capability. We got to the Moon without any of that stuff, and it appears we may never get back, I believe partially due to all of the new personal-level two-way communications capabilities that over-load many people.

One of the badly seductive things about a Government-provided smart phone is the unlimited call and text ability, so many people slide into using the Gov't device for most or all of their personal calls and messaging. We are periodically reminded (by email!) that the device is for Official Business Only, and that all of our communications can be monitored. I wasn't kidding about finishing a week's worth of work in a day on government jobs.

In the private sector spending 5 times the payroll that is needed costs puts you at a disadvantage against anyone who can compete against you. Successfully cutting the budget by increasing efficiency and therefore profit is the stuff that earns promotions and get you better jobs.

In the government, spending 5 times the payroll necessary means some bureaucrat gets to pretend he's more important than he really is because he has more underlings and budget. They will spend every last bit of money they are allocated, no matter how little work there is to do. Saving money or man-hours means they risk they're little kingdom shrinking in the next budget.

259 What Ripley said, above. Every GOP (well, maybe not GOPe) incumbent and challenger up next year better be ready to be smeared by decades-old allegations sans proof, and zero credibility.

As important, I dare anyone to challenge a GOPe-type in a primary, now. Hard enough as it usually is, there is now a whole new situation. Outrageous slanders can be launched against you, and the Beltway GOP will drop you in a nano-second. A situation I've never seen in my life, or read about from the past.

The message here is very clear. And it isn't that AL is now a blue or purple state (though it has embarrassed itself badly) - Jones has a 2-year term, that's probably it. It's that now, in addition to the huge inertial challenge of challenging an incumbent, or a party favorite, outsiders or non-Beltway pets will have a ferociously weaponized Dem/media enemy, and absolutely zero GOP support when it counts.

I definitely think it is on the table. However, if the Congress becomes Dem controlled, the impeachment is not so necessary. Not sure RINOs want that. However, that's b/c they do not expect Trump to get 2 terms. If he did, then impeachment may occur.

But, they do not want to hold the line on illegal immigration, for many reasons.
They do not want to repeal Obamacare, and were never serious about it. 8 years and no fvcking plan.
They want the Establishment back in, and all their power restored.
They want to quell these populist rubes. B/c if they do not put the citizens in their place, they will have nothing but trouble in the future.

Those are their priorities. Therefore, their plan addresses those things. And that is what makes it a Uni-party. Their goals are the same.

Writing all this makes me incensed...these slimey husks of leadership in the GOPe. These traitors. And to me they are. They have betrayed the Country by not upholding the laws of the land for the last 16 years. At least the Dems were honest. The Republicans lied and betrayed everyone & everything. Yup, this.

The silver lining is the degree to which this made clear how much the GOPe is in bed with the Dems.

I supported Dubya and believed in his sunny disposition and bipartisanship, even as I swallowed the increase in govt.

I shrugged and voted for McCain.

I thought Romney was a swell guy and pulled the level.

All of that crap after the GOPe defecated all over the conservative base during the primaries in order to squeeze in their own man who knew how to lose gracefully.

No more -- I cancelled the Weekly Standard months ago when they were running liberal-themed ads. I'm done with the NeverTrumpers at National Review now; they can shove their fancy cruises.

All campaign strategists will begin trotting out their own accusers against EVERY candidate.

The only way to parry these nuclear allegations will be to offer even more lurid allegations against your opponent.

This arms race will not have to worry about mutually assured destruction giving anyone pause.

Since someone will still have to win these elections there is no incentive for restraint by either side.

Either you win or you irradiate your opponent so much that when elected their influence is neutered because of the toxicity surrounding their victory.

At some point in the future allegations against anyone not just awful politicians and celebrities will become meaningless from desensitization and everyone can go back to harassing, groping, and raping without fear of consequence again.

* the Beltway GOP and its mouthpieces literally threw away a seat, quite consciously, and it had nothing to do with ridiculous 40-yr old unsubstantiated slanders

* the voters of AL disgraced themselves and damaged the country

* the Morons who didn't disgrace themselves don't deserve any guff and they're actually not the real target of the resentment being expressed

As a CA resident, I'm puzzled by the instinct to defend one's state's political behavior, as I find that idea incomprehensible. Many any are too young to remember the MA bumper stickers in the early 70s - "Don't Blame Me, I Voted for McGovern" - but it expressed an eternal nuance of voting and politics.

337 Sigh. Look at it this way. In December 1944, many Allied troops thought that they could be home by Christmas. Then the Battle of the Bulge happened with the highest loss of American troops in any one engagement in WWII. In May of 1945, the Nazi's surrendered.
What happened tonight in Alabama was a tactical loss, but not the end of the battle. We now know what the enemy is going to throw at us and we have to be smart to defeat it. We have to out maneuver, out gun, and out fight the enemy.
And just like the Battle of the Bulge, there are infiltrators inside our lines. They need to be found out and exposed. We need to deny the enemy supplies, maneuver and space.
This fight is not over.

The GOPe is ENTIRELY an owned tool of the Deep State that also owns 95% of the 'Democrat' machine.

If you expect ANYTHING out of the GOPe supporting freedom, liberty, representational republicanism, responsibility, disbursement of power, or 'states rights' you are an utter fool and I have a bridge to sell you while you blow me...

349 Feel free to ban me.

But...

The Founding Fathers ordered men to shoot people in the face for considerably less egregious actions against basic fairness and liberty.

350 And back on the topic of the rare, collectible late-night ace post, is anyone surprised by the professionalism, intelligence, and gravitas revealed in the texts between the two DOJ love-birds?

Didn't think so.

Integrity of public institutions is rarer and more precious commodity, in human history, than anything else. The US has been one of the few countries to create it, through a process that seems part magic, and which most are unable to replicate (and we've tried hard to help many countries do it).

THAT is what has been squandered in recent times. And the process of restoring it seems as mysterious and difficult as the process that created it in the first place.

351 Well, Cornbred, sorry about the insults to your state. I'm just so pissed off that the media and GOPe won this one and upset that conservative voters fell for it.

Afroman, Go to hell. Calling me - or any other 'ette - a c*nt is unforgivable.

But maan... Don't talk to Ettes like that.

We argue & joust, it's mostly practice for our real enemies. But there's a line.

357 @335 - Trump won Alabama by roughly 30 percent; so a 10 to 15 point lead still would have been underperforming.

But this isn't news. We've known this for years and years. Bitch McConnell was the one who made it his number one priority to destroy the Tea Party. Bitch was always busy making deals to help Barky and screw over conservatives. This is old, old news.

One thing we can say about Bitch is that no one should be surprised by what he did. He is what he is; a Vichy GOP, back-stabbing, lowlife douchebag.

366 I thought that FOXNEWS poll that had JRM down by ten points would motivate the less than stellar thinkers to get off their principles and head to the polls. Evidently the Alabama fools convictions were more important than their country. They deserve just what they will receive from their Senator they duly elected. Unfortunately, the rest of the country does not. Shame on you Alabama.

371 So does that mean the dems are the party of rapists and child molesters?

Posted by: Jomcdowe at December 13, 2017 06:29 AM (q8OQc)

372 This was the BEST of a shitty situation.

Had McConnell backed Mo Brooks or stayed out, this would have been a cake walk. Now that he's been called out on doing as such, I doubt he does it again.

The tax bill will be passed before Christmas - because Doug Jones will be seated in Jan. That means we can still let McStain, Murkowski or Collins still cast a no vote to show they are Maverick GOPe Assholes, but the bill gets a push because of the seating in Jan.

Barring death or some cabinet shakeup, there is no more special elections. the Ds and Rs will have to run on what's done in the next 8 months.

Pass tax reform.
Pass DACA / Wall / E-Verify
Mueller probe will wind down in the next 6 months with more bruises received than inflicted.
Economy continues to hum at 2.5-3.5 per quarter.
Dems are protecting 25 seats vs. 10 for the Rs - and 10 of those D seats are in states Trump won.

At the end of the day, MeAgain's Trump accuser parade redux, Gillibrandt tweeting the morning of the AL vote and the accusations against Moore did not happen in a vacuum. Now that Moore is not being seated, that parade dies.

Had Moore won, we'd be subject to 24/7 of every senator being hijacked in the halls regarding his position on Moore. Now, we get to tie Schumer Pelosi to wanting to give Dreamers/DACA/illegals anything before Trumps agenda is implemented.

I saw Laura Ingram with the guy from AL (basically in his living room) and he hit the nail on the head. This would have been an easier fight had we passed Repeal and Tax Reform. But AL (per his belief - he's a D) were mad that McTurtle and Ryan said all kinds of things last year believing Hillary would win and when Trump won - they've passed nothing. It puts the ball on them, not really Trump.

Finally, barring something freaky happening, Doug Jones is a 24 month senator. If flips back in 2020 when Trump is on the ballot.
