Justice Department Now Handing Over Peter Strzok's Texts to Congress, Under Threat of Contempt Citation

I urge Donald Trump to give a public statement, a solemn one, from the Map Room or some other sufficiently serious setting, and declare that he is ordering, as President, his underlings to comply with Congress' demands for information, on pain of firing if they refuse.

He'd be on strong legal grounds. They have no right to refuse Congress' demands as it is. With their actual employer explicitly ordering them to comply, their refusal would be grounds for termination -- even for alleged "non-partisan" career employees.

And then he should clean fucking house.

Trump really needs to act the tough guy if he wants to be credible when he talks the tough guy.

Similar thoughts here.

Anyway, that said, the DOJ is complying with one of the many outstanding demands for information Congress requires.

The Justice Department is in the process of handing over to the House Intelligence Committee the anti-Trump text messages that got a key FBI official removed from Robert Mueller's Russia probe, Fox News has learned -- a move that comes as the panel weighs a possible contempt resolution.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., had demanded the text messages between FBI counterintelligence agent Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, an FBI lawyer with whom Strzok was romantically involved. Both were part of Mueller's Russia team at the time. Page has since returned to the FBI, and Strzok was reassigned to the FBI's HR department after the discovery of the anti-Trump texts.

...

The exact timeline is unclear, and only the relevant texts will be turned over.

By "relevant," I assume they mean texts that are not too personal as in "pillow talk between alleged lovers," but by permitting themselves to still conceal some text, they allow themselves, as usual, a loophole to stonewall and obstruct justice.

Update: There are 10,000+ texts between Strzok and other members of Mueller's team to go through. They say it will take "weeks" to determine which texts are "relevant."

Anyone want to bet that they'll deem any texts showing the partisanship of people besides the already-implicated to be "irrelevant"?

Oh, and this is juicy:

Strzok briefed the committee on Dec. 5, 2016, sources said. But within months of that session House Intelligence Committee investigators were contacted by an informant suggesting that there was "documentary evidence" that Strzok was purportedly obstructing the House probe into the dossier.

Devin Nunes thinks this is all still stonewalling:

But Nunes voiced skepticism on Saturday.

He said that after the Strzok texts were revealed, the DOJ expressed a "sudden willingness to comply with some of the Committee's long-standing demands" but added: "This attempted 11th-hour accommodation is neither credible nor believable, and in fact is yet another example of the DOJ’s disingenuousness and obstruction."

This is the actual situation facing Trump and the country, writ small. DOJ and FBI have long since forfeited their presumed integrity. Trump has to simply force resolution of issues, and second-guess every move.

But not sure the problem can be fixed. Note the celebratory emails to the insubordinate, stupid Yates at DOJ when the travel EO was issued. Many career DOJ types - obviously as clueless as to law and the constitution as many federal "judges" - were thrilled that senior people were violating their oaths and appointing themselves autocrat. The judiciary and federal service may be too crippled by personnel hostile to the constitution and rule of law to be fixed.

You know, I never really got the "Trump is a dunce" vibe.

He's coarse, of course. Very little concern for polished, practiced mannerisms. He's never uttered a complete sentence in his life. Every thought he speaks out loud is some sort of parabolic offshoot of something else he's thinking about while speaking....

But none of that belies "stupidity". Just lack of decorum or polish. *What* he's saying (or trying to say) is high caliber shit, usually, spoken as a serious adult.

Obama, OTOH struck me as a dunce. A shallow, empty headed, juvenile man incapable of any kind of creative thought. Just spouting off insipid platitudes and acting as though jutting his chin in the air conferred truth and gravitas to his words.

Only 10,000+? Funny, the FBI only took 20 minutes to go through 50,000+ Clinton emails that were on Weiner and Huma's computer to determine that there was nothing there. Even funnier ... it was Strzk who did that!

10,000+ emails should only take the FBI 4 minutes.

It's all moot, anyway, since those treasonous fuckshits at the FBI and DOJ should have to hand over every single bit of correspondence they engaged in during that time period - on government devices and personal (since Barky's junta was infamous for using personal aliases and devices and accounts to carry out government work, even illegal government work), during work time and off. ALL OF IT.

151 Oh yes, "curating" the factual record/evidence is an ingrained habit with the lawless clownshow now vandalizing the country. They've redacted many key things from documents Judicial Watch has forced them to disgorge in various FOIA actions.

And note how House Judiciary relies partly on informants - f**king *informants* to help them do their oversight of a key govt. agency. Same is true for Judicial Watch and another key player, but they say little about it (naturally). So the law enforcement institutions of the country resemble criminal organizations in their tactics, and the means required to bring them to heel. Beautiful!

154 >>As much as Trump appears to be a dunce, be reminded, our foes are stupider.

Trump is many things, dunce is not one of them. And he's had help. My bet is Admiral Mike Rodgers.

As I keep reminding, the DOJ OIG has had an active investigation into how the FBI and the DOJ handled the 2016 election with a very, very wide mandate since January.

It has been reported for weeks that OIG will be dropping their report starting at the end of December and true to form with the ending of any DC investigation stuff is starting to drop. It wasn't Santa Claus who outed Strzok in August and he was immediately removed from the Mueller investigation. It was the OIG. They are the ones that are dropping all this information on Mueller's team that seems to be miraculously appearing.

There are also 27 separate leak investigations being pursued by the same office right now and they likely involve a lot of the same people.

My bet is that they have already been through all 10,000 texts but are holding off until the report drops because they don't want the stuff going completely public which sure as shit it will if it goes to Congress which leaks like a sieve.

There are also rumors swirling that just as I thought a major purge at the FBI and DOJ is coming.

We shall see.

308 I have been toying with the idea that Mueller could be impeached and Rodstein nor the courts would have no say so whatsoever as Nixon v. U.S. ruled that impeachment is a political question with the courts having no say so.

Impeachment would allow the House to investigate Mueller and co thoroughly, determine if and whatever crimes and misdemeanors have been committed by the his so called investigation, get statements and documents under subpoena and oath, and then issue a report for the Senate Trial.

For bonus fun, all Mueller's actions as FBI chief could be investigated as well in such an action.

Technically any official, even former official such as James Comey, can be impeached, as illustrated by prior examples, as the only punishment from impeachment is removal from office and possibly a lifetime ban on holding federal office if separately imposed.

363 >>I respectfully disagree. He could afford the most expensive NYC lawyers for that. Expensive NYC lawyers are useless once he was elected President and those who know the true game weren't (and aren't) exactly lining up for the job after he got elected. Career suicide being a real threat. That's whats always worried me and that's how he got the Flynn problem.

One has. Go back to my comment about Trump getting help from someone and my guess would be Admiral Mike Rodgers.

Rodgers is the head of the NSA. He is a spooks spook. Trump didn't pick him, he was the head of the NSA under Obama. Late in 2016, right at the height of all the Russia bullshit, both Ash Carter and James Clapper recommended to Obama that he be terminated for poor performance. They trashed him very publicly and repeatedly. That would be the second spook that Obama got rid of, the first being Mike Flynn.

Obama didn't get rid of him and Trump kept him on as the head of the NSA, the only senior level spy Trump kept besides Flynn. As Bob from the NSA can tell you, the one organization that probably knows more than any is the NSA.

Betting on Trump not knowing what is going on and not surrounding himself with people who also know seems to be a suckers bet. And the way this is rolling out it appears that Trump not only now knows what is happening, he has known all along.

366 Rhomboid,
I know that but an impeachment would sidestep blaming Trump and develop a record under oath of Mueller's actions. It also prevent Trump from being charged for interfering with the investigation.

Nixon's Sat. Night Massacre did not look good and poor Robert Bork took the fall as the no. 3 guy. Cox had issues (he was a Kennedy guy) but that was all sidelined by the firing. Better to establish why the guy needs to go for the peepul before doing so.

The second would be what may be happening on the OIG investigations which may involve members of Mueller's team.

Remember, if Strzok had been successful Hillary would be president right now.

Think of all the Strzok(s) that made sure Obama was elected and re-elected.

Everyone is jolly right now because Trump is president but these people had regular citizens contemplating the need to water the tree of justice.

Soldiers are dead, citizens murdered by illegals, trillions stolen.

Overthrowing a constitutional republic is no small matter.

Public firing squads or hangings.

It's clear that Hillary being fired because she was such a moron. The smart ones (all of them) weren't so stupid to show their criminal hands like Hillary did. They all believed the same things she did.

I think now it's clear that the Deep State (ex.FBI Mark Felt) set up Nixon from the get go. Just like they are doing to Trump.

Commit the crimes, pin them on the innocent.

That's our National Security apparatus. No actual national security concerns at all just criminal using it as a shield.

388 "the FBI has become America's secret police for its shadow government."

Not has become, apparently always was.

Think about how many of Epstein and Bill's child rape victims the FBI tortured by scaring the shit out them.

Think about how they covered up the murder of Obama's gay choir boyfriends.

Think about how they must have laughed when people came to them to report that Obama's birth certificate was a forgery.

Why report anything to them? They are the criminals.

"Why report anything to them? They are the criminals."

People won't. They also know better than to talk to the FBI, and soon state and local police will not cooperate with them. It's sad to see deadender law-and-order conservatives coming to the inescapable conclusion they live in a lawless police state little different from the USSR in its last days. And before someone says that's bullshit, people aren't being murdered, one word: yet.

Godawful time to be alive and horrible thing to witness.
